Ich kann Fenchihu jedem Reisenden empfehlen-auch als Alternative zu den eher durchschnittlichen Übernachtungsmöglichkeiten in Alishan Die Doppelbetten sind für 2x2 Personen eher eng (Familienzimmer)

• Jenna (3/5): No idea how this property is rated so highly. It’s dirty, smelly and unfomfortable. Worst night sleep of my trip. Only g - Great location, great staff Scruffy, rooms are scuffed up, rooms need TLC, bed extremely uncomfortable - got no sleep. Very noisy air conditioning unit, there’s a smell around the hotel that’s like old cooking that can get overwhelming, toilet plunger and brush were filthy.

• Chantal (10/5): Essen/ Bentobox wirklich zu empfehlen, unkompliziert, praktisch, schön mit Kindern - Der japanische Flair, dir Kinder (1&3) hatten sehr viel Spaß. Die kleine kostenlose Glühwürmchen Tour, das Sakura Eis oben an der Bahnstation (wir sind mit dem Bus aus Chiayi angereist), die Bento-Boxen (direkt im Hotel und ganz unten an der Fenqihu street) waren beide hervorragend. Die 7-11 Gutscheine waren für uns perfekt, da wir damit kleine Snacks für die Kinder, und etwas kleines zu Abendessen und dann noch Frühstück kaufen konnten (wir hatten leider nicht vor der Glühwürmchen-Tour gegessen und nach 20 Uhr war dann nichts mehr offen). Der Tee im Souveniershop war sehr lecker, die Zugflöte fand mein Sohn genial, und die würfelförmigen Reis-Nusscracker aus dem kleinen Gässchen haben meine beiden Kinder und wir sehr genüsslich gesnackt). WLAN hat gut funktioniert. Abreise und Anreise war unkompliziert, wir konnten unserer Gepäck vorher/nachher unterstellen. Wir sind dann mit dem Zug weiter nach Alishan.

• Jere Wenn (5/5): Don’t come - Staff were friendly. Located in the heart of Fenchihu - which itself is not worth more than a day trip. The entire hotel and rooms smell like stale bento. There is no AC even in the summer. Our room did not have any windows (which added to the smell problem). Breakfast is a 100 TWD 7-11 voucher for each person. Parking was extremely challenging for a holiday weekend. We had to park along the main road and hike up/down steep stairs about 10 min each way

• Tuomas (9/5): - The staff were really friendly and spoke excellent English. Japanese-style room was clean and had a nice atmosphere. The lunch box I had at the hotel was good and affordable. I could hear other guests pretty well through the walls, but it didn't disturb me too much.

(10/5): Gemütliches Hotel mit der Möglichkeit in japanischen Zimmern zu übernachten - Wir hatten ein wunderschönes Zimmer im japanischen Stil mit Tatami und Futon zum Schlafen sowie einem Holzzuber als Badewanne. Es wird kein Frühstück serviert, stattdessen gibt es Gutscheine, die man im integrierten 7-11-Store einlösen kann. So kann man sich aussuchen, was man mag.

• Roswitha (6/5): - Der Charme der im japanischen Stil eingerichteten Zimmer. Wir haben Bento gekauft und auch Abends im Hotel gegessen. Das Essen war sehr gut. Leider hab es keinen Kühlschrank. Die Zimmer sind dringend renovierungsbedürftig. Die uralten Vorhänge an beiden Fenstern sind zerschlissen und weisen eine Vielzahl von Löchern auf. Die Holzmöbel sind von vielen Wasserflecken verfärbt. Im Bad weist die Wand über dem Holzzuber unschöne Schimmelflecken auf.

Fenquihu very quiet at night after day trippers leave - lots of shops/restaurants/food stalls closed. Room a little stuffy but humidifier provided.

• Chelsea (6/5): The modern, stylish exterior hides a worn and outdated interior. - The location is excellent, with easy access to nearby attractions and a convenient bus stop. The staff were friendly and attentive, making the stay more enjoyable. The Japanese-inspired décor added a unique and interesting touch to the atmosphere. It was also very convenient to have a 7-Eleven located on the second level. Showering was restricted to specific time slots, which felt quite inconvenient. The water pressure was very poor, making it difficult to shower comfortably. Additionally, the room’s fixtures and fittings appeared worn, and the walls were noticeably dirty. Both the room and the foyer also had a musty smell, which affected the overall experience.
• Rebecca (6/5): - Great location, can't be beaten. The bento boxes are delicious. Really liked the tatami mats and futon bed. Complimentary box of tea in room was nice and enjoyed breakfast in the room using the 7-11 vouchers the property provided. Very dated. Holes in curtains. Stained walls. Needs repainting. Wooden bath is wet and soft, if you rub it the stain comes off so it feels unclean. Air conditioning doesn't hit the mark. Luckily there is a very good freestanding fan. We stayed on a holiday weekend, so think we really overpaid and that created the imbalance on perception of value.

• Peiyan (8/5): - We liked the free tours that were available at the hotel. The location was also very good, being right along the main street. The room was well equipped with a small soaking tub. And it was clean. The toilet looked like it had been recently updated. The doors and walls were rather thin, although that is understandable given the age of the hotel. The smell of the bamboo shoots from the bento boxes was quite strong in the hallway during dining hours.

• Bernice (8/5): Cute, short stay - Close to hiking trails, hot water available (at certain times but with very good water pressure) , great views, peaceful environment Smelly entryway (due to the bento boxes), could use some refurbishment. Also note that all restaurants in the village, even the one at the hotel, close at 6pm or 7pm, so there is not much to do

• Tracie (10/5): - The location was superb, within 2minutes of the train station and also along the old street. It's is also the place for the famous bento box. Room was tatami style and had a wooden bathtub which was unique. There is no heating but the dehumidifier acts as a mini warm air blower. The shower head too low, had to sit in the wooden tub to shower.

It was a restful stay during the night. - - The reception staff was able to converse in multiple languages and enthusiastic in sharing check-in details. - The hot water was reliable, the hair dryer was strong. - Toilet was clean. - Extra blankets were available. - The dehumidifier was full in just two days. - The cupboard had a musky smell. - Bring your own soaps as only one soap is provided for both hair and body.

The hotel gives you a voucher for the 7eleven for breakfast, complimentary Alishan tea in the room (for a tea ceremony) and when in season, a free firefly tour at night. The staff were friendly. The room looked like it used to be beautiful but sadly is now outdated, with many things damaged and the bathroom looks old and moldy.

• Lilah (10/5): excellent hotel with caring staff - My mother came down very ill while we stayed here and the staff were so caring and helpful! They helped me extend our stay another night and arrange to take her to the hospital. Even though we had to switch rooms, they let us move in immediately rather than waiting for the check in time. The staff goes above and beyond, we are all very grateful
