I chose to pay at property. upon check in my card was swiped more than the amount that i should pay. i told the hotel check in staff. the check in staff said the actual amount is taken upon checked out. when i checked out on the 18.1.2026, the receptionist bill me fully and i paid more than what booking.com had priced me. i said i will make a complaint. The staff - a woman and a man just smile. this is not the hospitality that i would expect from Marriott Hotel standard. until now i am not paid the right sum that bookimg.com had priced me which is less that the money taken from me and no one from the hotel has make an effort to contact me.

- wenrong (7/5): - 早餐还不错，中式早餐比较一般，酒店泳池景观不错。 酒店大堂不够大气，房间较小，并且比较旧，装修也就一般般，没有豪华的质感，就像普通的4星酒店，前台电话打不通，泳池的水不够干净，水里很多黑色的漂浮物。最后一天早走，酒店前台说好了打包三份早餐，结果还忘了安排，差评，浪费了我们一日的早餐的钱，并且价格比平时贵了太多了，本地人说那个酒店平时也就300RM...性价比真的不高。

- Syazwani (9/5): - I enjoyed the breakfast buffet. I was happy with most of the food spread. If you come to breakfast early you have pretty good chance at getting a table with a clear sea view. I also went for the Sunset Bliss buffet which had a nice view of the sunset and the occasional airplanes flying above the hotel. The food spread itself is also good but the non-alcoholic drink selection lacked variety. The hotel is about a 7 minute walk to Imago. The staff have been very friendly and helpful when I had issues with my card key. The rooms are not soundproof. I can hear the loud cars outside. The pillows are too soft. But this is a personal preference.

- MimiMYS (2/5): Marriot @ Kota Kinabalu: The good, bad and ugly - Our experience was fairly disappointing during our one night stay. But let’s start with a positive note: the sea facing rooms are big and the bed is comfortable. That’s it… now to the rest: no one attended our luggage when arriving, the check-in was impersonal and not welcoming, the lobby looks like an empty shopping mall. The hotel is in the landing path of the airport and windows are not soundproof! The room is run down and seems housekeeping couldn’t care less, e.g. coffee spills on the curtains, windows with green algae's, curtain not fully fixed. Overall, this is the sloppiest and most disappointing Marriot hotel we ever stayed and won’t come back. There are better hotels in KK, for example Le Meridien.

- eepeie (10/5): Lovely encounter with Nigel from M Club - Although I have stayed Marriott Kota Kinabalu Hotel on various occassions, I felt compelled to leave a review this time around as I had a lovely encounter with a very affable Nigel from the M Club. A simple question of whether I needed a top up of my G&T turned into a very enjoyable 2 hr conversation with him on wide ranging topics. The food in the M Club could definitely be improved but my encounter with Nigel overshadowed the lacklustre food. The personnel in M Club, including Felicia and the Manager Razz, were all smiles and made guests felt very welcomed. I also have to commend the solid breakfast offering at Kitchen@8 - I particularly enjoyed the very delicious char kuey teow from the live cooking station. As for the room, cleanliness level was satisfactory but more care ought to be given to make certain repairs as signs of wear and tear are already showing. All in, I enjoyed my recent stay and will not hesitate to return.

In comparison with the resort that we stayed at Manukan Island, I think the staff is less cheerful. They are nice and professional just doesn’t look happy 😅

- DeanKatyTX (10/5): A good location hotel. - The picture shown the view from breakfast room. A beautiful morning with good Western and Asia foods plus Capuchino, Latte and Americano coffee. Thanks to Mr. Fairuz in Kitchen@8 for all of your help. After breakfast, the fun begin with walking around the hotel within one mile, We found Shopping Mall, Restaurants and 7-11 store. 3 islands tours full fill our next day with blue beach, white sands and snorkeling by boat. We want to thanks Mr. Hezron and Mr. Nizam in Concierge with explaining and help to booked 3 island Tour with private car pick up and tour guider. At night we went to seafoods hawker for Claim, Shrimps, Crabs with black pepper sauces. The Help Desk to follow up on some of our request, many thanks to you, a back office staff. And all the hotel staffs to make us enjoy and happy in 3 days with Kota Kinabalu Marriott Hotel.

- Leschell03 (10/5): Marriott hospitality in KK - Unfortunately, we only had to stay for a night. Wish we had stayed in Marriott earlier when we arrived in KK instead of Le Meridien. The service and amenities provided are way better, the rooms are way cleaner and well maintained. Got treated well as a Titanium Elite. The room was upgraded to M Club Ocean View Suite and they provided a nice red velvet cake for my Wife's birthday. Special thanks to Kenneth Lau for making this arrangement. Also, to Clarence for assisting with directions and luggages. The executive lounge personnel are also good, Millany was entertaining. Will be the top choice of hotel when returning to KK in the future.

Most importantly, warm hospitality from the front desk, Kitchen@8 breakfast team, and a special shoutout to Daniel. He took initiative to help hail a cab to the airport when my Grab app was down. This ensured that i could reach the airport on time!

- Louise (6/5): Good location, great view and breakfast, rooms a bit tired. - The room was large and had a fantastic view of the sea and the sunset. Good location for getting to Jesselton and for the shops. Good breakfast and nice place to watch the sunset from the roof top bar (but remember to book a table). Close to a lot of nice restaurants. The room smelt musty and the air conditioning was not working. I reported this to the reception staff and they did not seem bothered and nothing was done about it. It took three requests for our laundry to be collected even though we explained that we were short on time.

Great sunset view from ground floor, swimming pool and roof top. The bed mattress is too soft, we had back pain after sleeping over it for 3 nights.
- merc8989 (8/5): Lack Cozy Feel - Was upgraded to a suite upon check in, probably due to my platinum elite status. Counter staff was friendly and most helpful. Suite was on the 11th floor with fantastic view of the sea. Spacious, clean but felt cold as there were minimal decor. In fact most areas within the hotel felt cold, from lobby to room and even the lounge on the top floor. It was the same feel when we last stayed here 2 years ago. Fortunately the staff were friendly and warm esp those at the lounge and breakfast area at Kitchen8. At the lounge, the food and drinks were good and Wayne was there to assist. Could be better with more warmth.
