Guest Reviews
- Jody (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rodrigo (10/5): Fantastic location and views! - I loved the location. Right on top of the hill facing East, so I really enjoyed the sunrise. The dinning room is also facing East and overlooking Titicaca lake.
The host was kind enough to let me leave all the luggage in my room and check out at 3pm on my last day. So, I could go for a long walk around the island, take a shower and get changed before setting off. The hostel is on top of a hill which is not different to most of accommodations on Isla del Sol. The island is all a big hill.
To carry luggage up and down was a bit of a challenge.
- Patrick (2/5): Very poor - I think the only thing to like was the location, getting of the ferry you will have to trek it with you’re bags to the refuge, but it’s on a amazing side of the island with great views if you get lucky with the weather like I did. Just be careful and show the price on booking as I was being asked to pay over the asking amount by 70BOB, our room was private with its own toilet & shower first afternoon of checking in seemed okay hot water wasn’t really working , that night there was no power the owner has to walk to the refuge so had no power (wifi) or hot water the rest of the night, second day had a decent breakfast after waiting past 8:30 am but still no power until the end of the day, still was no hot water and shower seemed very dangerous electrical wise, also our toilet didn’t flush, this morning there is no water at all coming from the sink or shower. Wifi is useless from the room unless you are outside
- Jovanka (9/5): Superb -
- Gil (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jeanne (1/5): Unpleasant - Although the location had a magnificent view, the host was very unpleasant, made no effort to communicate, charged me more for the accommodation than I had booked and wouldn't serve me the breakfast that was included. What's more, the place is dangerous; I was electrocuted several times in the shower... I wouldn't recommend it.
- Olger (1/5): Our stay was extremely disappointing, marked by poor communication, lack of service, and an overall unprofessional exper - The rooms looked nice, although I had to share my room because there was nobody from the team there to give us a key for our seperate rooms Nobody was there to check us in. We waited for two hours, but nobody showed up despite calling and texting the owner. By 6 PM, we decided to enter the rooms ourselves, which were left open. We couldn’t have lunch or dinner at the place and were forced to share a room with someone else who was also waiting. Showers didn’t work too. The next morning, someone finally showed up (presumably hungover) to give us breakfast after an additional hour of waiting. They made us pay but didn’t offer the slightest apology.
- De (1/5): This place is a scam ! - The view is nice This place is a scam ! My stay was 13.09 dollars and she wanted to charge me 14×8 boliviano so 112 boliviano Wich is in reality 16.2 dollars to "make it round". In total I paid 13x8 + 6 = 110 boliviano.
When I refused she simulated a call on booking and she was lying without any shame. I couldn't cancel the reservation so I paid.
Then in the morning she said the breakfast was not included but I couldn't check on booking because she changed the code of wifi.
Don't go there !
- Natalija (2/5): Very poor - The room had a nice view and there was hot water. This is why you read the newest reviews before booking.
First they overcharged us by about 20 BS and then the bs continued when they said we don't get breakfast even though every option including the one we booked says that breakfast is included. We showed them the booking confirmation and the part that said breakfast is included and they just said to take it up with booking (so we did).
Also no towels or soap.
- George (1/5): Attempted scam - Nice view of the lake (especially for sunrise). The hostess asked us to pay for the two nights that we had booked when we arrived - which we did. The next morning she approached us saying we had paid for one night only and we needed to pay 100 Bolivianos more if we wanted to stay for a second night. Initially she showed us the wrong booking (with a different name), but when we showed her the correct booking on our phones, she said we still needed to pay more because she had just put her prices up. We told her that's not how booking.com works and we refused to pay more than we had agreed - she then pretended to call booking.com and kept demanding more money. We didn't pay more, reported her on booking.com and stayed the second night that we had paid for. It did spoil our stay a bit though. When reading other reviews, it seems that this is not the first time she has done this or other similar scams.
Also, the bathroom smelt terrible and had clearly not been cleaned and every time you touch the shower handle, you get an electric shock.
- Marysia (10/5): Exceptional - It's was a great experience, nice sunrise, lovely host
- Colleen (8/5): Simple, warm blankets, good location near temple of the sun. :) - Owners are so wonderful, welcoming.
- Andrés (8/5): Very good -
- Molly (4/5): Disappointing - Beautiful views of the island. I was the only one staying so a bit lonely but good if you're looking for solitude. (Long walk and out of the way from other restaurants and hostels). Free breakfast, very basic - bread and jam. The description of the hostel says there is a kitchen but there is not. No soap in bathroom. Overpriced for what you get. Some beautiful donkeys came into the garden and the owner kicked one of them very hard to leave, I do not support the cruelty of animals. Would not stay here again.
- Simona (10/5): Worth to stay! - Clean room with private bathroom.
Amazing view! Very calm and peaceful place.
Really confortable bed.
I liked the breakfast too.
I would love to come back here.
- Adrian (10/5): Amazing view - The location is unbelievable, a view of the islands and of the ruins, on the very top of the island.
Private bathroom, comfortable beds, warm (we came in winter) and a good breakfast
- Aine (8/5): Lovely views with spacious rooms - Really good value for money, spacious rooms with comfortable beds Drains smell quite strongly but once the bathroom door is closed it’s fine and for how little you pay it’s really not a problem
- Michael (1/5): Don’t - I usually never write reviews about an accommodation but given the fact that they tried to scam us needs to be noted. Me and 2 friends came to the accommodation with two reservations. The lady at the reception told us she doesn’t know anything of 2 reservations because “she has no internet to check it”. (Also, something about them receiving a lot of reservations from booking, Airbnb and so on which makes everything “confusing”). After a while of waiting she told us there would be one 3 bed room for us available. She wouldn’t know the price after asking and had to check with her boss (as if this was her first day of work to not remember the price??). I’ve noticed they tried to scam us and left the property.
- John (1/5): Bad place - The view of the islands was great. Could see the islands and lake The room I got was not what I booked .there was no heater .there was no chair to sit on the bathroom, smel the power points did not work properly they were far from the beds the host, was not nice to me. If you don't speak Spanish, do not go there
- Benjamin (7/5): Good - Beautiful view of the lake and mountains, comfortable bed and good breakfast, which was in included in our booking. Be aware that this accommodation is high up on the hill, so it is quite a hard walk up in the heat with luggage (many stairs, plus the altitude). Wifi was not really working.
- Pit (9/5): Superb - Amazing view from the rooms and terrace. 10/15 min walking to village with restaurants etc. But delicious food is also available at accomodation (just order in advance, latest at afternoon). There is also a mini market with snacks and beverages.
- Berryn (6/5): Pleasant -
- Aisha (8/5): Very good -
- Luka (10/5): Exceptional - Super authentic experience! It was super calm and relaxed. The Lake and the Mountain with snow in the top right in front of you. One advice: keep your big luggage in Copacabana, the hike up the Hill is tough but worth it ! We would definitely book it again.
- Amy (10/5): Exceptional - Comfy rooms with lots of blankets and nice breakfast
- Giovanna (7/5): Great views and lovely staff! - Breakfast was good, the bed was very comfy, the staff were great and attentive! Let me work outside regular hours at the salon, because the wifi didn't work in the rooms. The location was amazing, with a stunning view! The food (breakfast and dinner at an additional cost) also was very tasty! They were also extremely friendly and understanding when it came down to a late check-out request as I was unwell due to altitude sickness. Internet didn't work in the room and there was no hot water even though we waited 5 minutes for the electric shower to heat up the water. The room door was difficult to open/close.
- Paulini (9/5): Nice view - We had a private room with a fantastic view. The room was nice and it included a nice breakfast. It's not a real shared kitchen, but you can bring the ingredients and then they cook for you. It felt very weird to be cooked for but it was delicious and of course also quite comfortable like this.
In our room the sockets didn't work.
- Mystery (7/5): Good -
- Jeroen (9/5): Superb -
- Liza (10/5): Incredible views, comfortable bed and nice breakfast - We enjoyed everything about this accommodation. The views were incredible from the rooms and the breakfast area. We were even able to watch sunrise from bed which was so nice! The breakfast was really good and the value for money unbeatable. Nothing. I liked everything. It is a little bit of a walk from the main town but it's a flat walk along the ridge with amazing views of the lake so I actually enjoyed that.
- Jessica (8/5): Very good -
- Etienne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rein (10/5): Exceptional - The water from the bathroom seems to disappear at random times and reappears when you let the management know. Also, it gets really cold in the island in the evenings, and when I asked for hot water from the hostel to make myself a cup of tea, I was told that I would have to pay for the water.

- Hannah (8/5): Beautiful view and peaceful location - - Near to the port
- Amazing view of the lake; faced east to see a great sunrise
- Host was nice and arranged our boat back to Copacabana the next morning
- Very peaceful location - Host didn’t speak english, so just be prepared that communication might be difficult if your Spanish isn’t great
- Breakfast was included but basic (just bread and jam)
- There is a small shop attached and I understood from other reviews that dinner would be available, but soon after checking in the shop shut and the main building was locked up so we couldn’t get dinner without walking back to the main town
- Florine (8/5): Very good -
- Evangeline (8/5): Very good -
- Graeme (7/5): Cosy cabins at a beautiful location. - Cosy cabins in a beautiful location- close enough to the village to use the restaurants in the evenings but far enough away to be quiet and to see an amazing amount of stars at night. The view across Lake Titicaca from the cabins is incredible, and you can wake up to one of the greatest sunrises you’re ever likely to see. On the first morning we were there, my wife and I felt quite unwelcome at breakfast. There was a large group travelling together, and the host had laid out a big table for them complete with hot water, teas, coffees, toasts etc. we were left with a tiny table in the corner, which didn’t even have chairs set up next to it (let alone breakfast materials) and were left to wait a long time while the more ‘profitable’ group were attended to. My wife was even shouted at by the host when she tried to borrow some hot water from he large table to make a cup of tea. Breakfast is included in the price, but we felt we were an imposition on that morning. As soon as the large group left, the host was lovely to us again. It felt very odd.
- Adam (9/5): Nice place, great food, amazing view. A little cold at night, but the blankets were very good. - Great view, and nice personal.
- Maximilian (7/5): Good -
- Roman (9/5): Superb - Nice and clean place. For 40 Bs you get a soup and rice plate for dinner. Without reduction it can be expensive
- Noam (9/5): Superb -
- Claudio (8/5): Very good -
- Nanette (7/5): Good -
- Laura (1/5): The accommodations and service expected were grossly misrepresented in the booking information. - Sunrise. The information on booking.com showed 2 queen beds, heat, hot water, included breakfast and they would meet us at the port. There was no heat, no hot water, not even soap, 2 TWIN beds, no one met us at the port and the hostess insisted we pay for breakfast - instant coffee plus 2 pieces of bread was $8 x 2 of us x 2 nights = $32 extra,
- Vinot (7/5): Good - The view is insane Far from the village (10 min), good if you want to stay in the calm and enjoy the view but bad if you want to go dinner at night at the village.
A bit expensive.
- Desiree (7/5): Good - Great sunrise view
- Guilherme (10/5): Exceptional - The place is very beautiful, clean and the owners are very welcoming.
- David (8/5): excellent value! very beautiful location. it is run by a nice family. - I loved the location, beautiful view and very private. friendly family with a very local vibe.
- Niall (8/5): Very good - The beds are comfy and the area is far from everything else so even less light pollution. The woman running it is nice. There was no hot water for my shower. There's no signs from town pointing to the Camino for the hostel so easy to get lost.
- Felix (10/5): Exceptional -
- Beatriz (4/5): Disappointing - The staff, fresh bread for breakfast and the view 1) No hot water at all for the whole stay.
2) no internet signal in the room, just in the restaurant.
2) We have been charged more than what booking said.
3) The room we reserved didn't correspond with what they wanted to give us (twin bed/matrimonial bed - smoking - non smoking room).
4) even tho the lady was really nice, during breakfast she kept taking things from the table while we were still eating (coffee, sugar, jam, butter, ecc ecc).
- Kaspar (8/5): very good price-performance ratio - very nice view, nice local breakfast, enough blankets no hot shower (normal for the island), wifi not always sufficient
- George (10/5): Amazing! Francesca was so helpful and the views were amazing. - amazing views comfy beds
- Manuel (8/5): Very good - Nice and cozy cabins, comfortable bed with lots of blankets (which you'll need!), towels, beautiful views Shower was cold, basic breakfast (fresh fruit would have been nice)
- Natalia (8/5): No shared kitchen - Perfect location to enjoy amazing sunsets, the lodge is 10 min walk from the village, so it's very quiet and peaceful. The room was beautiful and quite spacious. I had very thick blankets, so I felt pretty warm at night. The manager was quite nice and friendly and even made some changes to my breakfast after learning I'm vegan. In the description of the hotel it says they have a shared kitchen, and that was the reason I chose this place. However, when I asked about it, the manager said there's none and I cannot cook anything without her control, so I just asked at least to give me some hot water, which she did once. Another thing I didn't like is that the people who manage the place are hard to find. They are always out somewhere when you need something. I would choose another place next time just because of that, and it's a shame, because the place is really beautiful.
- Deepthi (5/5): could have been so much better. - bed was comfortable.
late checkout was allowed.
the place has great views when we reached there was no one to give us the rooms. some lady from the near by hotel came and gave us some room and then the owner reached at 8pm. there was no food for dinner. no option to purchase as well. they charged me 10bs for water.
breakfast was so so basic.
- Lluisa (7/5): Good -
- Tori (10/5): Exceptional -
- Baptiste (6/5): Pleasant - I have been allowed to stay in the room to wait for the boat Meal is really expensive for what it is
- Sergio (4/5): Disappointing - The breakfast was great! We arrived at the premises at 12:40pm (check-in being from 12pm). We searched the area but we couldn't find the host at all, all buildings were locked. After waiting for an hour and a half, we saw one of the neighbours arriving and asked if she knew where the host was - all she said was the host would be back later. She shared her WI-FI with us and we tried to call and message the host on Booking.com but no answer. We decided to have lunch and return in a few hours when the host would be back. We arrived at 5pm but the host still hadn't arrived. Finally, at around 5:30pm, we saw her arrive and mentioned we were waiting for ages to check-in, wanting some kind of explanation as to why this happened. She didn't apologise and avoided our questions. The room itself wasn't properly cleaned either - an old, used soap and someone else's toothpaste in the bathroom, insects in the room and the mattress was really uncomfortable. Price-wise the place was the cheapest we could find on the island but the experience was less than desirable.
- Sarah (8/5): Very good - Nice rooms with beautiful view on the lake and mountains.
Hot water (but low pressure) in the shower.
Around 10min walk from the center or the village, but to leave the island you can take the boat really near the hostel, at normal cost (30bob). The prices for the restaurant were a bit more expensives than others around (40bob for a meal instead of 30-35, 8bob for a mate de coca instead of 5).
- Mitchell (8/5): Very good - Comfortable room and bed with a beautiful view of the lake and mountains.
Lovely breakfast.
Friendly staff
Good wifi If you want dinner make sure you pre warn the hostel as it was closed for us.
Shower was not amazing but sufficient
- Constance (10/5): Exceptional - The view was amazing, with both the lake and the mountain.
Room was good, comfortable bed, nice bathroom with hot shower. Was even able to watch the sunrise from our bed.
Dinner was fantastic, and we got freshly baked bread for breakfast.
Well located, away from the main road but easy to find.
The silence and stars at night were greatly appreciated.
To top it all the host Francisca was lovely.
Would definitely recommend this place for a night or two on Isla del sol Everything was good
- Jamie-lee (7/5): Good - Amazing value for $, beautiful views and a basic but comfy room with warm blankets. Showers are a bit dodgy - weren’t warm and felt like I might get electrocuted!
- rafael (6/5): Total relax - Quizás es la cultura del sitio pero no hay ningún tipo de calefacción, no agua caliente y comida muy básica. Lo mejor las vistas.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Firstly the good stuff the accommodation is located in an ideal setting. The views from our room were magnificent.
Now the not so good.
- The manager was not expecting us.
- A slight electrical shock when you had a shower.
- While not expecting much for breakfast very, the stale heated up bread was just about inedible.
- Aaron (8/5): Vacay baby - Room was nice great view but unfortunately the cost we agreed with hotels.com was supposed to be per group but were charged per person
