Guest Reviews
- Kaitlyn (10/5): -
- Wade (10/5): Great place can’t wait to stay again - Every thing Nothing
- Michelle (10/5): Great place to stay and would stay again - Close to every thing we needed
- Julie (8/5): We enjoyed our stay very much and would like to stay again.e to stay - The Cottage felt like a home. The rooms were large, the furniture comfortable and the air conditioning and fans very effective.
We enjoyed a BBQ dinner on the back patio.
The kitchen is lovely and internal laundry very handy The only problem were the barking dogs next door, the noise and frequency of which were very annoying.

- HIEN (5/5): Barking dogs, lawn mowing and noisy road is what we remember. - Majority clean, located close to town centre. I question the linen, extremely outdated and made it unpleasant to sleep on and the kids woke up itchy on their bunkbeds. Noisy road, and the dogs next door kept on barking which was irritating. The maintenance guy rocks up early in the morning and begins to mow the lawn for the next several hours as we are trying to sleep. Not what you want after driving 900km. The old outdated air-con in the living room was loud and making weird noise so we just turned it off. Not happy overall to be honest.
- Jacelynn (10/5): It was perfect for myself and children - The size and homey feeling. There was a bit of a stale wet smell throughout the house
- Kimberly (10/5): enjoyed every moment at this property .. would definitely stay again - this property was very beautiful the beds were comfortable, it was very clean and had all the things you need for a holiday house . there was nothing we disliked it was perfect
- Watt (7/5): Overwhelmingly disappointed. - Location was great My daughter left to buy new linen for her bed because there were holes. The road noise was dreadful. Some shrubs planted out the front would probably help this. Carpet needs shampooing
. Renovations need to be completed.
There needs to be a railing at the back door.
Old air conditioner needs to be removed.
Air cpnditioner in queen bedroom did not work.
- brett (8/5): i’ve been coming too cessnock for around 17 years been there at least 35 times stayed in pubs motels last twice i’ve sta - plenty of space to move around great old cottage everything worked great easy access centre too everywhere hosts were lovely and helpful great kitchen nice hot shower no complaints from me bit noisy traffic but was expected for the location
- Les (8/5): Great base for the wine region. - Had a great stay here. If you’re looking for a three bedroom Cottage with plenty of sleeping options this is for you. Close to Cessnock and the wine regions. Pet friendly too. Good value for money.

- Aaron (7/5): Good - Large house. Clean and tidy good bathroom
Perfect for big familys None of the furniture in house match photos. Seems everything has been switched out for lesser items. Beds extremely used and worn out. Front porch rotten and nearly fell through.
- Hayley (8/5): Short Family getaway - We had a very pleasant stay at the Aussie Chillout property. The owner David was prompt to respond to any questions we had. Whilst the property in on a busy main road it is close to amenities and a short drive to local attractions and wineries. This is the second time we have stayed here and both times have been pleasant.
- Meghan (9/5): Superb -
- Dorothy (8/5): Very good and met our expectations. - Proximity although Allandale Rd. is a busy thoroughfare Because Road is narrow and busy care had to be taken when entering or leaving.
- Troy (7/5): Good -
- Amy (10/5): Exceptional -

- Hunter (7/5): Good -
- Kanza (8/5): Very good -
- Peter (5/5): Clean with somewhere to lay your head with air con - Convenient location.
Air conditioning.
Everything there you would need.
Was cleaned well. Main road and trucks come past all hours especially starting at 5am.
Sheets were stained.
Have to squeeze beside toilet to close the door.
Both of us couldn’t get a steady temperature on the shower, even moving handle a fraction it would go cold or boiling hot.
Foundations up and down really bad and cupboard doors wouldn’t shut.
Sit on the main bed and was the noisiest bed I have ever sat on.
Funky smell from being closed up.
- Dianne (9/5): Excellent location - Excellent location for exploring the many treasures in the Hunter Valley. Although on a busy road we were used to the noise. The cottage had everything we needed (except a laundry basket). The cottage has a well appointed kitchen, comfy beds and good climate control. The laundry could do with a laundry basket
- Sarah (7/5): Good - Good location and good communication with owners Dusty and very cold in the bedrooms
- Chey (10/5): definitely will be coming back honestly amazing, David and Hilary were super accommodating and super lovely - everything, spacious, clean, honestly perfect little get away
also, David and Hilary were super accommodating making sure if I needed a cot and even left a highchair very thankful cannot fault it at all
- Rebecca (9/5): Wonderful spacious house! Clean and tidy! Better than advertised. - Clean and tidy. Better than advertised, hosts were fabulous to deal with. All the comforts needed for a stay. Great location for hunter valley activities. Would easily stay longer next time.
- Raychel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lisa (6/5): - Traffic noise was terrible. Towels need to be replaced, they were paper thin. Mould in bathroom unsafe.
- Louise (7/5): Overall, good experience. Would stay again. - Was a comfortable place, walking distance to the centre of town. Easy to access. Check in was great. Hosts were very communicative and helpful. Towel was not clean and no light globes in the bedside lights.
- Broonwaiheke (10/5): Exceptional - This was a top place to stay, road is busy but sit out the back area and it was all good, central to everything, highly recommend this place, everything u need is in this place, just get ur shopping and away u go👍👌
- Robynne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Duffy (7/5): Good - Location was excellent and lots of parking available
- Supriya (8/5): It would have been great if the host could offer free milk and pest control. - Close from the tourist destinations.
Main highway.
Ampule of parking area. a bit old building and crouches.
No milk was offered.
- Amanda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sue (7/5): Good - Comfortable convenient Road noise excessive
No dishwasher or clothes dryer.
- Karen (9/5): Great value little cottage for a Hunter Valley get away - The place is older but kept very well. The location is great. Only about 10 to 15 minutes to the wineries in the hunter and about 50 minutes to the main beaches in Newcastle.
There was an issue with ethe shower that was promptly fixed even on New Year's Days so that was awesome. Just had a very homely feel that was great for out family. You can fit a heap of people in this house! Not much to add. The stay was just what we needed
- Sarah (1/5): Hit with the smell as soon as we walked in. - Location was good, as it was close to family for Christmas. The house stank. Like really, really stank. The carpet was jumping with fleas, we saw them. Floors sticky, lack of maintenance. House was dark and musty. Couldn't open curtains as the rod holder was hanging by one screw. Oven needs a clean. Dirty glasses. Matress was sagging in the middle. Kitchen window had no fly screen. Lawn not maintained. Shopping trolley in the backyard. Front deck in disrepair. Poor quality bedding. Cheap furniture that was broken. Filthy bbq and outdoor couch. $350 a night for 3 people, complete rip off. Seems like it's been a long term rental, not a short stay holiday house. We left at 6am, coughing, itching, desperate to get out.
- Jason (9/5): Superb -
- Matt (8/5): Very good -
- Toireasa (4/5): Plenty of beds for a large group but the road noise made it impossible to sleep. - Plenty of space for lots of people. Lots of beds, dining space, lounge room. Awesome TV options. Good kitchen for cooking and plenty of bench space. Extremely noisy main road that did not quieten all night. Needed to get ear plugs to be able to sleep the 2nd night there as we did not sleep at all the first night.
Shower overflowed and water went under the door and over the tiles.
The aircon in the lounge room was noisy with a high pitch squeal.
- Anonymous (10/5): Our stay was short but very great. We even accidentally left a ring behind which David kindly told us about very quickly - The size was great and accommodated for our large family (9people). Also good backyard space and clean overall. Easy check in also with great wi-fi and tv streaming services. Nothing it was exactly as advertised and was great value for money.
- Birrabongie (7/5): Good - The house was nice and comfortable. Little extras made the difference and perfect for me and my puppy dog. Very close to main road. Lots of traffic noise.
- Maria (10/5): Good value for the location, size and everything - Location Noice road
- Murdoch (6/5): Pleasant - Bit cold not fully clean and road noise Location plus price
- Bardia (6/5): Pleasant -
- Anonymous (9/5): Superb -
- Two (1/5): Bad -
- Kakhaber (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gail (7/5): Good -
- Hayley (9/5): Perfect family getaway - The location of the property was perfect. Close to the local supermarket, Hunter Valley Gardens, Wineries, Wildlife Zoo, etc… The hosts David and Hilary had fantastic communication, they were very accommodating when we had extended family stay for 1 of the nights. The only negative is that the property is on a main road however this is clearly stated in the description so we weren’t surprised about the traffic noise outside.
- Taylor (10/5): Exceptional - How the house felt like home Nil
- REXY (6/5): - We enjoyed our stay and the owner was very accommodating however the windows, beds and sheets were dusty especially the third bedroom.
- Karam (7/5): Good -
- Elizabeth (6/5): Best suited to rowdy party makers or a big noisy family. - close to pool in The constant noise of road traffic was really quite stressful. It was hard to relax or sleep.
- Megan (7/5): A surprise indeed on arrival after paying over $1000 for two nights - The kitchen was clean and air con and tv worked code to get in wasn’t correct but owners resolved that by phone - bed/ mattress and linen quality very poor furnishings not what the pictures told us ..
- Ellen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mikemcgarrity (8/5): It was a good location and good value, problems were minor and we'd stay there again. - Conveniently located near service station for immediate needs and short drive to shops and restaurants in town. The sofa in the lounge room was uncomfortable - also could not locate a remote for the Apple TV - minor problems in the scheme of things.
- Paul (7/5): Good -
- Kleo (4/5): Close to wineries but not good for light sleepers - Property is pet friendly and kitchen is good size. TV is good with Netflix available. New couches and new patio furniture are great. Hosts are responsive and very considerate. Bedrooms face the very busy concrete road and it makes sleeping very difficult. Even late at night the noise every time a car went by was disturbing. The kitchen and lounge have a stale smell but after airing the house for a couple of hours, it was ok. We found the neighbours dogs a big problem as our dogs couldn’t use the big garden due to the neighbouring dogs barking and scratching on the fence. We could also smell the neighbouring property dog mess at night which made it very difficult to sit on the back patio.
- Rosalind (7/5): Our stay was comfortable enough although the living area needs an uplift to be remotely comfortable and we were able to - it is very central and sleeps a lot of people if needed - there are mattresses everywhere! the couch was rediculously uncomfortable - it was stuffed with something that felt like old clothes. bathroom window was LOCKED open and no key to close it. The Hunter in the middle of winter and an open window don’t mesh very well!
- Merryne (6/5): I had a lovely time, even with the few problems. - The bed was comfortable, the kitchen was well equipped, the place was very clean. Was close to shops and easy walk to a nice pub! The spa didn't work, I was looking forward to a spa. The shower went hot then cold, but not to bad. The lounge was very lumpy t9 sit on, you can feel the springs, but if you sit on the cushions, it is ok.
I didn't realise it was on the main road, the traffic noise was not good.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good place to stay. We were there for work and it was centrally located for us.
- Veneta (10/5): Spacious home - Lots of amenities and spacious place. Easy parking. Could do with more air conditioning.
- Michele (10/5): Great comfortable accommodation - Very close to vineyards - we attended a wedding - and convenient to local shopping. Highly recommend
