Guest Reviews
- Ashok (8/5): - Nice Guest house in the area.. Very close to Hengifoss..!! Free parking..!! Small room..!! I can't leave early since they had a dog outside without leash. I m allergic to dogs..!!
- Katy (10/5): - We had the most wonderful stay with Maggi and Elsa. Admittedly, we weren’t quite sure what to expect, but our expectations were exceeded in every way. We stayed in the blue cabin, which had a toilet and sink, bed and pull out couch. Showers, a fully stocked kitchen, and laundry facilities. Elsa was incredibly warm and let us feed her baby lambs she was fostering, they were so adorable! She showed us her workshop where she was tanning sheep hides that would otherwise be thrown away, we bought one to bring home as a special souvenir. She baked us delicious fresh bread for breakfast, after we had a magnificent evening seeing the most spectacular northern lights. A hot tub and sauna was also available, though we did not use it. The only thing we would have changed was staying longer, as we were only there for one night. All in all a lovely experience we will never forget.
- Sheila (6/5): - The host was lovely, however we had no idea we didn't have a shower/bath in the cabin we rented.
It was very rustic and not at all worth the price paid.
- Mireille (10/5): - A fabulous place to stay! I highly recommend it!
- Rishi (10/5): - It’s an old house but in great condition and with many small beautiful details. Rooms were decent size. It was clean and supplies were enough. Good kitchen. There are two shared bathrooms.
- Ryan (10/5): - Everything
- bob (8/5): - Good stay
- Ruben (10/5): - Beautiful property and great accommodation. The host are the best and are always looking for you to have the best of the stay. Thanks Elsa!!
- Maureen (8/5): - This property is mainly for campers, with common showering facilities. Our room did include a toilet and sink. It is in a very rural area.
- John (8/5): - Host was very nice. Freshly baked bread in the morning. Very quiet location. Room was very clean.
- Darya (10/5): - We stayed at one of the two cottages at the farm. It was very nice and cozy. Kids loved to visit the lambs.
- Chantal (8/5): - It was nice and cozy. The unit was clean. The only thing that bother us was that we had to go out the cabin to fake our shower in the barn next door. Campground shower.
- WEIZE (8/5): - Elsa is an excellent host for her clients. The room feels like a home and it’s clean. Elsa also provides some basic utensils in the kitchen and some simple bread and pastes for the breakfast. The only issue for us is the shared shower which is distance from our room and walking on the grass outside is some inconvenience for us. Thank you, Elsa!
- Manas (10/5): - Elsa was a remarkable host. From the moment we arrived until the day of our departure, she went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and satisfaction. She took the time to share her knowledge of the area and provided us with insider recommendations. The apartment was not only impeccably clean but also thoughtfully designed, creating a cozy and inviting environment. We are grateful for her hospitality and look forward to returning in the future.
- Tzu-Yu (10/5): - Elsa 親手烘培的麵包很好吃,咖啡很好喝!房間乾淨、安靜,廚房的器具都很齊全。
- Prathamesh (10/5): - Mjoanes accommodation was an amazing stay. Room was clean, property is amazing, and a perfect getaway.
We arrived in the middle of snowstorm. Elsa (host) took care of us like a family, extended our stay by few hours and ensured our safety (clearing snow, road conditions update, continuous checking in) before we continue our further journey.. This is the exact homestay every one looks for…..it really touched our heart… thank you!
Last but not least homemade bread was tasty !!
- Steve (10/5): - Was a perfect place to stay. I would recommend this place for your trip.
- Glenn (10/5): - Family farmhouse. It was nice meeting travelers from other countries.
We saw the aurora borealis!
- Sunethra (10/5): - Great place and very thoughtful host. Everything was well set, and we enjoyed the homemade bread for breakfast.
- Carole (10/5): - We stayed in one of the lovely cottages. Very comfortable and in a quiet area. The perfect place to watch the stars. There is a small fridge in the cottage, toilet and a sink. The showers and kitchen are located in a separate building, they were very clean. A fresh bread was kindly prepared for us in the morning. The hosts were very friendly and made us feel at home.
- Natalia (10/5): - A great quaint little guest house with great and friendly hosts. Doesn't include actual breakfast but there was bread, butter, jam, and cheese out in the morning, plus an equipped kitchen if you want to make your own food. Great to have laundry, hot tub, and sauna on site that they were happy to show us how to use. Plus two adorable dogs to hang out with. Walls are a bit thin so we heard someone snoring one night. Great location a bit outside of Egilstadir but nearby some great hiking - the waterfall circle and Hengifoss.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I liked everything about Mjoanes. Very comfortable and down to earth.
- Ilia (10/5): A very pleasant place to stay - An interesting farm with a lot to do: see Elsa's artwork and sheepskins, play darts and pool, play the piano, use the hot tub or the sauna, and play with the dogs. Elsa was super nice and it was very pleasant talking with her and learning about the farm's history and her own travels. She lives on the 2nd floor above the guest rooms. We especially liked the calm atmosphere, the homely feeling and the well equipped kitchen.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very comfortable, quiet and lovely house - I arrived super late (mid night) due to my own planning problem and the host is very helpful to wait until midnightt for your arrival in order to pass us the key.
This peace is very nice, I'm shame we can't stay there for a little bit longer.
- GRANT (10/5): Lovely guest house, great facilities - We stayed in a "cottage" , new and spotlessly clean. All facilities excellent and host welcoming and helpful. I would highly recommend.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The host very friendly and make us feel like home. The environment very cozy and warm. Nice kitchen. Everything just perfect.
- AR (10/5): - Friendly host and proximity to the town. The house was very neat and clean and the kitchen had all you needed to make a hearty meal.
- LEE (10/5): - We love the cats and dogs at the Mjoanes accommodation. Elsa and Maggi were great host, the home-baked bread is yummy! Glad we stayed here! Highly recommended!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Owners were very friendly. Nice barn and common kitchen. Beautiful location
- LokYi (10/5): - It is a very warm and lovely guesthouse. It is decorated with different artistic stuff, and very beautiful. The host is very friendly and showed us around her farm and barn, which is a perfect place of a wedding party. The breadfast bread tastes good. Kitchen and washroom are clean. It is the most satisfied guesthouse I have been in Iceland. If you drive, I highly recommend you to choose this guesthouse, as the price is also very reasonable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Elsa was a great host and provided us with alot of information. House was clean and all amenities provided. Excellent stay!
- Jolanta (10/5): The best stały during our tour - Wonderfull płace wonderful cottage very nice host amazing doga and cat
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I ve made a mistake during the booking process. Hosts were extremely generous about it. Other accomodations/hosts wouldn't come even close to being fair/flexible. As a traveller/human being, I appreciate that!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Host is superb. Only thing that I would say is if cottages could have their shower too onstead of sharing the common one.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Five starts! I totally recommend to stay in this beautiful place!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very clean, nice updated rooms and bathrooms. One bathroom with a shower & one without made it so no one was waiting for the bathroom. Loved that there was a shower schedule on the door. Homemade bread was nice but was expecting more than just the bread since it listed "breakfast included". Couldn't get coffee maker to work.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We stayed in a beautiful little cabin w/ our own bathroom. The kitchen was located in an old barn that was quaint. There were extra toilets and showers next to the barn. This is the 3rs generation to live on the property, a bit out of town but not a big deal. Top 2 of 10 places we stayed on our trip!
Highly recommend!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This property is unique and the owners have gone to a lot of trouble to make it so. Added to that they are extremely helpful and engaging. The homemade bread at breakfast was delicious..thank you for making our stay so comfortable.
- Kelly (10/5): Such a Cozy and Clean Room & Stay! - Very friendly hosts, loved their cats and dog. Room was very clean and had a TV, bed was comfy, house was quiet/couldn't hear other guests. Definitely the best place we stayed all trip!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - +Friendly hosts
+Great use of kitchen & utensils
+Host baked fresh bread for breakfast
+Some breakfast items also provided
-Single room quite small and pushed up against window wall
-No plug socket, other than TV, in the room, near to shelf or bedside
-Simple white clean bedsheets would be nicer
-Entrance was quite messy, with shoes boots of owners living upstairs & smelly of dogs
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Property was clean and spacious and Elsa was extremely cheerful and friendly. The dog and cat were very friendly as well
- Maricris (10/5): - Beautiful property. Comfortable and cozy
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The fresh bread in the morning is hearty and VERY good. Simple breakfast; juice, coffee, homemade bread, cheese.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Large cosy room! Cute dog to welcome us. Super friendly & helpful host. A simple breakfast - home-made bread, coffee, jam, cheese & orange juices. Abit out of the way, 35mins away from Egilsstaðir & the main route though. But the price (around USD30plus) is a big plus!

- Verified traveler (10/5): - An excellent stay at a great rate. The host went out of her way to make us comfortable. We were initially concerned about the shared bathroom, and while the shower could have used an additional light, overall everything was very clean and tidy. The hostess also had a system prepared to manage bathroom time if there had been a need. The hospitality was fabulous, and we enjoyed the homemade bread and animals at this great accommodation, a few minutes drive from Egilsstadir.
- Huan Kiat (8/5): great for animal lovers! - location was good, not too far from the town and near the forest. room was really small, but i guess that's what we paid for. toilet was clean and comfortable, although the shower area was dark. kitchen was well equipped. the host was really nice and hospitable! really loved the friendly animals in the house.
- rajda (10/5): Great, homey feeling - One of the best guesthouses during my Iceland trip! Comfy and homey feeling. The host was super sweet and made us home made bread for breakfast. Location is easy to get to, and the room was spacious and comfortable. They have another cottage type house next door with additional bathrooms/showers, common space, and awesome outdoor space!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Pleasant stay! -
- Attila (10/5): - Comfy and good sized room and well equipped bathroom and kitchen. Lovely breakfast with home made bread and bean to cup coffee! Very kind host, and "good boy" dog named Gulli whom you can't stop petting.
