Guest Reviews
- CasaRoscoe (10/5): The Best Choice in the Area - Being dedicated users of hotel booking sites we were completely unaware that the Wilderness Hotel Inari was a full service resort because other than an occasional outdoor activity photo on these websites, most of the views were of rooms, the lobby, the restaurant, and lovely Inari Lake. We were therefore completely surprised during our winter visit when we encountered a large fleet of snowmobiles parked out front, guests clad in snowmobile suits, an adventure booking desk, and a big screen that listed all the activities for the day. Indeed, it felt like we were the only visitors there solely for the accommodation, which is, in a word, superb. The common spaces are impressive, our room comfortable, well sized, and nicely decorated (we stayed in a Wilderness Room), the staff friendly, knowledgeable, and professional, and the restaurant one of the best in the area. Practical info: There is lots of onsite parking, but if one is without a vehicle, the hotel can be reached by intercity bus. Local taxis are available, the walk to town is only 3.0 km, and there is a paved bike path beside Highway E75. The hotel also offers a shuttle service to some activities. Activities can be booked, subject to availability, at the lobby activity desk (and because we come from a winter country, the very unique “Meeting the Reindeer” excursion was the only activity we booked). If one is on an Aurora Boreals search, the hotel offers snowmobile excursions to dark areas, as well as 10 Euro wakeup calls should the lights be spectacular overnight. Although there was significant snow on the ground and 60cm of ice on the lake when we visited end-March, it was the end of the winter season and the number of staff members, and the list of available winter activities was shrinking. Our accommodation included breakfast, but full board is also available. The hotel offers many package deals that cover a wide range of activities, but if you want access to them you need to book through the hotel’s own website rather than through a booking site.
- Trail65934989394 (10/5): Impressed and high valued! - Highly recommended! Friendly and helpful staff. Diversed activities everyday with professional support. Peaceful yet vibrant environment. Comfy and warm room that you can observe auroras directly. Overall a nice and memorable experience!
- Roam41216498132 (8/5): Great staffs - Staff are really nice. When we're in trouble that we couldn't receive a confirmation from a taxi company, a hotel staff tried to solve the problem as much as possible.
Thanks to the kindness. We finished our trip without any troubles.
Aurora cabin is great, however there're no wi-fi, restriction of limited shower time.
they're a bit inconvenient. So I think that staying basic room is good enough.
Either way, I definitely recommend staying this hotel.

- Lutz (10/5): Top! - Lage, Zimmer, Frühstück, Restaurant
- Amanda (9/5): Fun and enjoyable! - Love the location, easily accessible with a car. The log cabins were not too far from the reception. A very quiet and nice place to catch the auroras! Gave good variety of food for dinner, although some repeats here and there. Staff are very friendly and warm! Some sleds for kids were broken and not fixed.
- J3219IXvincentm (10/5): Amazing stay - Amazing stay.
We stayed 3 nights, full package.
Food is amazing, people are nice, activities are memorable.
I recommend.
- Laura (10/5): Paradise - The facilities and the food are beyond excellent The tours are very expensive
- Joao (7/5): Magical moments - Location and lounge area. The hotel changed the lounge area opening time reducing to 23:00 instead of 1:00 am.
The hotel changed/reduced the kitchen menu without notice leaving us with no options of snacks during the day.

- T3003 (10/5): « INARY WILDERNESS HOTEL" stands for « URGENT COME BACK » ! - We have been so lucky ! A week enjoying Finnish Lapland from the Inari Wilderness Hotel ! Wood is everywhere outside and inside. The hotel building is a very modern architecture, fully oriented towards the Inary lake with large windows, you enjoy an incredible view from the restaurant. Nice and cosy places to sit around, even outside with a great fireplace. The room was spacious and confortable. Food is generous and of quality, each meal with a different proposition. The staff - all outdoor activity guides and into the hotel lobby and restaurant, for customer service - demonstrates maturity and professionnalism. Any question is welcome. The collective working ambiance feels very positive, the staff - one by one, no exception - cares for you at anytime ! You quickly understand that the natural environment here is truly wild : you rather respect and comply with this wilderness; the good news is that the outdoor staff / guides are highly skilled, they know how to handle the situation for each activity. Our weekly program has been very well planned and timely scheduled. All our activities started strictly on time, any necessary equipment is provided to you (clothes, snowmobile, snowshoes, ….) and is pretty new and perfectly maintained. Included the buses and cars picking you up. All that said, your job becomes finally so simple : you just have to enjoy ! During this incredible week vacation there, we both enjoyed a lot. And at the end you feel somewhat honored to reconcile this experience with the Saami fundamental statement : « « « These places are older than any person. These lands are our children » » ». All is in : respect, commitment, transmission. HIGHLY recommanded indeed !

- Tetondavid (10/5): Fantastic location, excursions, food. - Fantastic experience. Varied buffet at every meal. Very nice accommodations. Staff all friendly and professional. Excursions were great.
- Sally (10/5): Very luxurious - Chalet was very well appointed and clean, loved the personal sauna. Easy to sort the hire equipment and book the activities. Activities were varied and professionally organised.
- Fernanda (9/5): Fantastic experience in the wilderness! - Great service and accomodation

- YASEMİN ASLI (10/5): Great experience to stay there and watch the auroras from the igloo - Being near the frozen lake with all the activities you can do directly from the hotel is amazing. Food was great. We watched the northern lights from our igloo it was a great experience. The light in front of the igloos being automatic kind of interrupted the experience and some photos but still it was an amazing experience.
- Gemini7o (10/5): Amazing adventure - Absolutely brilliant trip to Wilderness Hotel Inari. Fantastic guides and activities ranging from Snowmobiling and husky safari to meeting the reindeer with amazing Sami people. We went out on Aurora camps over the frozen lake. We were extremely lucky to have the Aurora two nights of our visit in mid March, nights I’ll never forget. The food at the restaurant was perfect and the staff were just amazing. One thing I would mention we arrived on 9th March in deep snow and by 11th the weather started to warm up enough for the snow to start to melt. It did affect some of our activities.

- 133pamg (10/5): Magical Adventure - We had an absolutely fantastic time. The Wilderness Hotel in Inari is very well run. We booked the Winter Wonders with full board - I totally recommend. The staff was very helpful via email with booking airport transfers and helping us with packing suggestions. The tours were memorable, our guides (with one exception) were knowledgeable, outgoing, attentive, and fun. The hotel staff were very helpful on all levels. Our currency converter wasn't the correct voltage (be sure to check what is used specifically in Finland). The had a box of converters and were able to lend us one. We were able to modify several of our tours. They are incredibly organized in timing the tours and had a screen with the day's tours/and who was on what tour. We were lucky to see spectacular Auroras on one of the nights, truly magical. This was a huge check on the bucket list.
- simi6354 (10/5): An unforgettable Arctic adventure at Wilderness Hotel Inari - We stayed at the Wilderness Hotel Inari for the Adventure Week from 23–29 January 2026, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. We were a group of four, and every single activity during the week was exceptionally well organized and simply wonderful.
The main reason we chose the hotel was actually after watching the BBC programme “Amazing Hotels”, which showcased the passion the hotel owners have for the Sámi traditions. We found this incredibly inspiring and it ultimately convinced us that this was the place we wanted to visit.
The entire program was perfectly balanced between adventure, nature, and relaxation. The guides were professional, very friendly, and clearly passionate about what they do, which made every excursion even more enjoyable. Whether it was snowmobiling, exploring the Arctic wilderness, or learning more about the region, everything felt authentic and thoughtfully arranged.
One of the most memorable moments was experiencing temperatures of –36°C, something we will certainly never forget! Despite the extreme cold, the equipment provided was excellent and kept us comfortable throughout all activities.
The absolute highlight of the week was finally seeing the Northern Lights—already on our very first night, and then again on five additional nights during our seven-day trip. It was simply magical. After three previous trips where I had hoped to see them without success, it finally happened here in Inari. Watching the Aurora dancing across the sky was a truly magical and emotional moment that made the entire journey even more special.
The hotel itself is beautiful, cozy, and perfectly located in the middle of the Arctic landscape. The staff were incredibly welcoming and made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. The food was also very good and a perfect way to warm up after a day outdoors.
If you are looking for a true Arctic adventure combined with comfort, great organization, and unforgettable experiences, the Wilderness Hotel Inari is absolutely the place to go.
We would return without hesitation.
- Helen (10/5): Outstanding! I will be back! - Superbly well located, smoothly and efficiently run with warm, welcoming staff and impressively knowledgeable guides who were all excellent communicators. Excellent food and wine, very warm, comfortable accommodation There was absolutely nothing to dislike!!
- 392susanneh (10/5): Just go😎 - My family - we are four adults have just spent 3 nights at the Wilderness Inari hotel. We have had the best stay - exceeding our expectations - the reason: The staff and of course the setting. The hotel is almost in the lake.
We had 4 guides all great: Freddy snow mobile, Albert Aurora camping ( Albert did reqlly try to find the 🌈), Jonas snow shoeing and Mikko cross country skiing. They were all so positive, helpful and great storytellers. Then I haven’t mentioned all the others eg receptionist and other team members.
So in other words - what a team the Wilderness Inari is🙏
About the hotel: The hotel has a nice lounge area, a big restaurant. So much food is produced and served everyday. I have one wish better scrambled eggs. Thats it! And perhaps an extra waffle machine🙏. The waffle dough is so good. I had several every morning.
- Nicola (10/5): Great weekend in Lapland - All the services of the hotel met our requirements, we spent a wonderful holiday in Lapland Nothing
Camera matrimoniale piccolissima.
Pulizia non tutti i giorni.
Esperienza che non ripetero

- NESunseeker (10/5): Wonderful trip - We loved our stay here! It was cloudy the whole time unfortunately so we did not see the Aurora, but the terrific staff and activities made up for it. All the staff were so friendly and helpful, and our Aurora cabin was sweet. Loved especially snowshoeing activities (shoutout to Inka!) and dogsledding.
- deboraheA9266AB (10/5): Amazing hotel and location. You must visit. - What an amazing holiday.
Hotel was amazing. Staff very kind and helpful. Food delicious.
Trips fantastic. Guides were all lovely and very helpful. Scenery was stunning. Everything was covered in snow. All I can say is.. you have to visit thus amazing place.

- 368balajis (10/5): Awesome experience + location + hospitality! Highly recommended for couples and families - We had a wonderful stay at this hotel and thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our visit. The room was excellent, spacious, comfortable, and very well maintained. Having a private sauna in the room was a real highlight and added a special touch to the overall experience, allowing us to relax completely after a day of activities.
The food was another standout. The buffet was diverse and of very high quality, offering a great variety of dishes. We especially appreciated the wide selection of vegetables as well as the generous meat options, which catered well to different preferences. Everything was fresh, well prepared, and delicious.
The experiences organized by the hotel were truly exceptional. The snowmobile safari and the aurora hunting tour were both extremely well planned, comfortable, and enjoyable. The staff made sure everything ran smoothly, which allowed us to fully enjoy the experience without any stress. We were also lucky enough to see the aurora, which made the trip even more memorable.
Hospitality throughout our stay was outstanding. The staff were warm, attentive, and always willing to help, making us feel very welcome from start to finish. The hotel’s location is also excellent, adding to the overall convenience and charm of the stay.
Overall, this was a fantastic experience, and we would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for comfort, great food, unique activities, and exceptional service. We would happily return again.
- 491jelenas (10/5): We had a wonderful experience - We stayed at Wilderness Hotel Inari with our three children, including our youngest who is only five years old, and before arriving we were honestly a bit concerned about whether the activities would be suitable and enjoyable for all ages.
Those worries disappeared immediately. The experience was truly outstanding from start to finish. The activities were perfectly adapted for families, and the staff showed incredible care and attention toward the children, making sure everyone felt comfortable, included, and excited.
We were also lucky enough to see the Northern Lights every night, which made the stay even more magical. The guides truly went out of their way to make our experience memorable, always checking conditions, encouraging us to go outside at the right moments, and sharing their passion and knowledge with great warmth.
The food was absolutely incredible, varied, and of very high quality every day. The organization of the excursions was seamless, the guides were professional and welcoming, and every activity felt both safe and magical for the kids and relaxing for the parents.
What impressed us most was the atmosphere: welcoming, authentic, and joyful. By the end of the stay, none of us wanted to leave, which says everything.
We highly recommend Wilderness Hotel Inari to families traveling with children. It is a truly special place that creates unforgettable memories for both adults and kids.

- 74rhiannonm (10/5): The most magical holiday. Excellent hotel, great food, exceptional tours (but a little over subscribed at times). - I stayed in a Wilderness room, full-board, with my 8 year old sun on the 7 day adventure package. I would love to go back and would be tempted by the Aurora cabin - the sky changes so quickly and the forecasts are not reliable. Being able to see if the sky was worth putting on many layers of clothes for, would have been a nice perk! We were lucky enough to see a spectacular display of the northern lights whilst we stayed.
Accommodation: Wilderness room was very clean, had all facilities required, wi-fi was good for calling home. We also found the room a little warm like a previous poster, but just opened the window for a few minutes to cool us off!
Food: My 8 year old was offered the bar menu to order from on the first night (simple, plain, but tasty food). The range of options in the buffet was amazing - lots of locally sourced food, traditional Finnish items and a few classic dishes. I certainly didn't go hungry, but you really don't need three meals a day here. At lunch and dinner there was always a soup/bread option, a well stocked salad bar, then more substantial dishes as well.
Excursions: The excursions were very well organised and thoughtfully planned throughout our stay. My only criticism of this holiday was that at times the tours were very busy, with a lot of people for one guide. We were lucky enough to have two excursions where there was just us and another group, it was so much more relaxed, easier to have a conversation without the crunching of snow under 15 pairs of feet all around you.
Special mention to some of our tour guides; Sada who is so incredibly knowledgeable and gave such an interesting tour of the Siida museum (I'm not a massive museum goer - but this really is worth a visit). And also Albert who took us on the most magical snow shoeing adventure, he was so knowledgeable about the forest and we thoroughly enjoyed testing the depth of the snow (by removing snow shoes and stepping in it!), learning about the trees and all the animal tracks we saw (amongst many other things). All the guides were so kind, friendly and helpful, and would stop to chat/offer advice on any outings.

- Enrico (10/5): Simply amazing!! - We liked everything about our stay at Hotel Wilderness Inari! The main building is very comfortable and with the huge chimney that makes the atmosphere very warm and makes you feel like at home.
The view from the restaurant hall is amazing with big windows that shows you the frozen lake Inari!
Rooms are standard, but of a good dimension and comfortable as well!
One of the best points of this incredible stay is given by the staff! Everybody is very friendly and helpful for anything needed!
We would like to especially thank Leenna of the restaurant, that has been always very kind, friendly and happy to assist us.
Another special thank to Nermin that drove us through a blizzard with the snowmobile on the Lake Inari! It’s clear that he loves doing his job, always with a smiling face and happy to help guests to enjoy their experiences at Wilderness Hotel.
Last but not least, thanks to David with whom we had our Aurora camp at “Pirates bay” and as he says “that couple of hours, all together around the fireplace into the tent speaking and drinking hot drinks we where a family”.
It’s been a really amazing and wonderful stay at Wilderness Hotel Inari! Really much more than expected!!
Enrico&Sara Maybe the temperature in the rooms was a bit too hot, and not easy to regulate.

- MrBeanPA (10/5): Experience of a lifetime - We booked this hotel as part of a package to experience Lapland and what it can offer during the winter period. Our stay was for 4 nights arriving at Ivalo airport from Gatwick on 5th Dec 25. The transfer from airport to hotel, provided by the hotel was excellent and also a great introduction to what we might expect upon arrival at the hotel.
The hotel did not disappoint. Arriving in the lobby cum reception, bar and Restaurant was like walking into a huge warm and welcoming home. We were quickly allocated our room, a little log cabin of our own, just a short distance on foot from the main hotel complex. We were also given out itenary for the coming days. Even the walk to our room was an introduction to the amazing experience to come.
Our room, an Aurora cabin, was warm, comfortable, clean and very welcoming and provided everything we needed for our 4 night stay. Just sitting looking out of the window was worth the effort to get there. The peace and quiet it offered allowed us to sleep well in readiness for what the day had to offer.
Next we went to the main hotel for a drink by the fire and some dinner. Another great experience. Although all meals were buffet style, not my favourite option, they did not dissapoint. The food was varied and covered most pallates with plenty of options even for the fussiest of eaters. The lobby area was clean and comfortable and a great place to relax between activities or just for a drink, or two, in the evening.
The activities were all provided by the hotel and despite early trepidation around what we had signed up for all activietes were well organised and full safety breifings and all necessary equipment provided. We thouroughly enjoid all the Snowmobiling activites, especially the 4hr safari and 2.5hr Aurora Camp. The 2.5hr Auroa Snowmobile on our Sunday evening was much more challenging, mainly due to the change in weather and at times I did wonder if it was a step too far but the guides made an excellent job of looking after us. Despite the challenging conditions this remains the most memorable of our activities and not for the wrong reasons. We very much enjoyed the Aurora workshop, Snowshoeing and Husky sleigh ride. Whilst the reindeer farm visit was interesting and informative we found this to be our least enjoyable activity. In hindsight we should have booked a reindeer sleigh ride instead. We thoroughly enjoyed the visit to Father Christmas and despite us both being well over 60 we felt welcome and rather enjoyed chatting to him and his Elves.
Despite our best efforts we did not succeed in seeing the Aurora, but perhaps the fun was in trying and maybe it's just the right excuse to return in the future and try again.
Though this was not a cheap break we felt it wasn't overly expensive for what was provided.
All in all we wanted a special break to celebrate a rather large birthday and nothing here disappointed, we had a supurb 4 night break and enjoyed every moment. All of the staff and guides we met were friendly and always welcoming and helpful.
Thank you for offering such a wondefull hotel in such a spectacular location.
- sandrahN9116SO (10/5): What a way to spend New Year! - We had a wonderful stay at the Wilderness hotel in Inari. The hotel is extremely welcoming with excellent friendly staff in the restaurant and bar. We took part in the organised activities including snowmobiling, aurora camp and snowshoeing- all we great - even at -25 degrees! We were unable to do the husky safari as it was -35 - we did go to see the dogs but think it would have been better to just have the option of not going. The snowshoe walk was lovely and would have loved to do again for longer . We had David, a guide on both the snow shoe trip and snowmobiling and he was fantastic- really made the experiences all the better! The food at the hotel isn’t gourmet but it is fresh and varied. I like that they didn’t put too much food out at once and therefore didnt seem to be a lot of waste. New Year’s Eve was lovely down on the frozen lake !
- Laura (7/5): Possibilité d’activité directement à partir de l’hôtel - Endroit idyllique et très typique Devoir sortir dehors pour aller prendre le petit déjeuner et pas de cheminé allumée …
- andreagD9458AV (6/5): Not Worth the Price Tag - Overall, we're happy that we got to experience Lapland and some of the activities associated with the region. However, given the hefty price tag I wouldn't necessarily say it is good value for your money.
Areas for Improvement:
My husband and I purchased the 6 day full board package for our honeymoon and we only ended up with activities on 5 days so our last day there were no excursions/activities planned and we didn't really want to spend another $500 per activity to do something else. It was advertised that there would be activities every day so it was disappointing to be stuck at the property with nothing to do unless you wanted to spend hundreds of dollars more. We would have appreciated some hosted activities in the lounge or even an evening entertainment option as you're pretty isolated and the planned activities occupy no more than 5-6 hours in the day.
While the staff onsite were very friendly for the most part, it was also clear that a lot of them had very little training/knowledge about the programming they were offering. We were given incorrect descriptions on at least 2 of the activities we participated in. The worst part was that we missed out entirely on the Husky sledding after we were told we could reschedule to later in the week because I was not feeling well. Only after we missed the experience, were we told that it could not be rescheduled and if we wanted to do it we would have to rebook, for $500+. I would have sucked it up and gone anyway had we known this because this was the #1 activity my husband was looking forward to doing.
The food was buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner and it was average at best. The warm food at breakfast was cold every day. Coffee and tea are only complimentary with breakfast. For the amount of money you pay for full board, coffee and tea should be available all day complimentary. It definitely felt like they took every opportunity to get every dollar they could out of us.
We stayed in a Wilderness Room for the first 5 nights and it was very basic but comfortable. There was very limited bathroom storage/counter space but we appreciated the heated floors. The room was incredibly hot, even after adjusting the thermostat, I woke up sweating every day. Our last night we upgraded to an Aurora Cabin which was a cool experience to be able to see the Northern Lights from our bed but the room itself felt like a downgrade. The sloped nature of the bathroom made it difficult for my husband to stand in the shower. There was little to no storage space for our stuff in this room either. For one night this was okay, but for multiple nights it would have been a challenge.
Our departure flight was very early in the morning so they provided a packed breakfast for you to pick up the night before. Unfortunately the Aurora rooms don't have a refrigerator and everything in the packed bag was perishable so we couldn't eat it since it had been sitting out for 8+ hours by the time we left for the airport.
TV/Wifi - There were TVs in the Wilderness Rooms and wifi did reach here but all the channels were in Finnish. The TV did have the ability to cast for streaming services but for Americans, the streaming services were not available in that region. So I would recommend having anything you want to watch downloaded or bring a lot of books/games to play. The Aurora rooms were too far from the main lodge to have wifi capabilities so if this is something that is important to you, just know that you will not have connection in your room. The cell service seemed to work anywhere on property though so if you have an international plan you would be fine.
Highlights:
The highlight for us was the visit to the reindeer farm and listening to the stories of the local Sami people. I wish that there was more of a highlight on the local people and the region.
The provided winter gear was extremely helpful and appreciated as it got well below 0 several of the days we were there. You do still need to bring appropriate layers for under the coverall.
The arranged transportation to/from the airport was prompt and easy to find on arrival.
In hindsight, I wish we had done more research and stayed in an area that had slightly more to offer without being nickel and dimed.
- mjhwang (10/5): Best hotel to experience magical Lapland! - We just got back from a week staying with Wilderness Hotel Inari and it was absolutely the best! Everything was so well organised, right from the pick up from the airport. The hotel reception, our log cabin was so beautiful and comfortable. The food was delicious and all the activities were amazing. We did snowmobiling, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, reindeer sleigh ride, husky safari. The hotel staff organised the activities so well that we never felt rushed, we had downtime to chill and relax but also things to look forward to. The best of all are the staff - everyone from the hotel reception to dining, to our guides - absolutely amazing!!! We definitely had the time of our lives, and so lucky to experience the magical nature of Lapland. Definitely recommend Wilderness Hotel Inari it is the best!
- karenfV8987PF (10/5): Magical - A magical experience!! I have traveled all over the world but there was something special about this experience. From the moment I landed to the day of departure, everything was seamless. The staff, food and especially the activities with our guide David were outstanding. I’m looking forward to returning next year. I would highly recommend the Wilderness’s Hotel to anyone looking for a little bit of magic 🎄🎅
- LindsayPinz (10/5): Lived up to very high expectations! - This was a wonderful once in a lifetime experience with a lot to live up to. And it didn't disappoint! We booked the 3 night aurora experience package from 23rd-26th December so we were there for Christmas Day (actually 2 Christmas days -- the Finnish one on 24th December and our own on 25th). The hotel seeks to share the owners' love of the natural surroundings in this magical place, and succeeds 100%. It's not a fancy hotel, which makes it so good - relaxed, unfussy, but caters well for a very international, discerning customer-base. Superb food, much of it local, beautifully presented. Rooms are cosy and comfortable, light on fancy products, but who cares. You're here to get out in the wilderness to experience snow-shoeing, snowmobiling, husky dog riding. We also got to meet the reindeer and learned about the Sami culture. Fascinating. The warm outdoor clothing provided is a god-send but you still need to bring your own hat, gloves, thermals, socks etc. It was unseasonably 'warm' when we were there- a few degrees above freezing, but still chilly, so be prepared for it being much colder. Handwarmers a good idea for sleigh ride to aurora camp (teepee with wood fire).
We were delighted to have a visit from the 'real' Santa, with an extravagant beard and a present for every guest!
Only slight criticism was the husky dog guide had unusually poor English and some of the others weren't great about explaining what was going to happen on the activity eg was there a bus journey involved, a toilet available or not?
We were lucky to see an amazing aurora but treat that as a bonus and don't expect it, as it's not guaranteed. If you don't see it, you'll still have an amazing time. I'd go back in a heartbeat!
- Grumm1958 (10/5): Picture perfect scenery - Absolutely fantastic trip was had by our family. The rooms were clean and warm. Buffet food was varied, fresh and tasty. Activities were amazing and fun by great guides. Loved the snowmobiles and visiting the reindeer farm. Were blessed to see the Aurora dancing. If you want a holiday to build some unforgettable memories then this is the place to come.
- PiratesofCroydon (10/5): Another level thought we'd done it all. Awesome - The experience here with our family Grandparents, Daughters, Husbands and four grandchildren (10) at Christmas was fabulous. The setting (Northern lights & comet)
sophisticated and beautiful. The hotel rooms excellent. Food excellent. Staff team world Class..
Lady on reception particularly helpful. LUMI elf was great (hope your wearing Santas Hat?!) David (instructor snowmobiles) was brilliant, adapted our private tour. They made our visit memorable. We've travelled 66% of the world (thought we'd done it all)
This was another level ..nearest thing to planetary travel.. Now returned to earth with lifelong memories. Well done Wilderness: W.D.W.

- danielcS2975BF (10/5): Outstanding family trip, ever-lasting memories - Family of four went for 6 nights.
Log cabin that sleeps 6 was perfect for us. Accomodation was very roomy comfortable and clean for the 4 of us.
We enjoyed all the activities tremendously. Some were a bit tiring but never too strenuous and all was great fun. From cross country skiing across the lake to snowshoe trekking in the woods with no lights on, they were all new and probably once in a lifetime experience for us.
But the staff needs mentioning. They were all all pleasant and most if not all seem to have have great outdoor survival skills. They made a big difference to the safety and enjoyment of the activities.
We had Jonas, Joshua, Retta, Anniki, Tone, Onni and Mikko as guides. They were either super funny or friendly.
The whole trip was well planned and thought out. I personally felt well looked after and totally chilled out.
Food was above average. I note some negative comments on food but really it was good. Selection was wide, no repeat except for breakfast. We enjoyed the feast.
And the aurora was amazing!
Thank you for the great memories.

- Shezzy_13 (10/5): Great hotel. Easy open dining, great wilderness location . The wonderful experiences stick closely to the usp. - This trip was a bucket list, having personally had a bad year I needed to make new Christmas memories. This didn’t disappoint. From start to finish the hotel excels in what it aims to do. Amazingly helpful and friendly staff. At night the Aurora cabin was incredible, This was made special by seeing the Aurora many times. Even the next evening on the frozen lake at the Aurora camp. We were very lucky. The clothes provided, boots and gloves made the stay effortless in the freezing conditions. Cosy fireplaces, great food and ease in every way. Open dining with a good selection of foods. Not a cheap trip initially but actually good value in terms of what is included, even unexpected mini bottles of fizz in the cabin. This part of the world is beautiful. The air is clean and it’s not hard to see why the hotel has other hotels in its group. Sami culture runs through the hotel beautifully. Beautiful people wonderful stay. I will never forget this trip, magical.
- Neeraj (10/5): Excellent - Location
- dawnh913 (10/5): Adult fun! - Fantastic couple of days. We choose the Aurora experience which included 5 activities.
The hotel is excellent and we opted for the Doom chalets..... the glass viewing window was amazing at night.
All trips were amazing but remember to take warm clothing, they do provide you with warm overalls, boots, gloves and socks.

- Eliza (10/5): Wilderness Inari: Facilities, activities, staff and food (& Auroras!) all surpassed my expectations - The location of this particular location - Inari (Wilderness has several properties) was perfect for the level of activities and travels I planned to do. The meals were fresh and varied from day to day. My room (Arctic Chalet) had everything I needed (and wanted - sauna!) and was well maintained and clean. nothing - everything was perfect.
- aquamermaid (10/5): Most Magical Experience - Go! Don’t hesitate in booking this hotel-
Rooms are very comfortable. We got the arctic chalet and the sauna was a big help in keeping warm and relaxing. Bed is very comfortable, ample space to move around and fix your luggage. Ample cabinet space.
Bring your own toothbrush toothpaste- shampoo provided but I suggest you bring your own shampoo also.
You’ll be so full all the time - they serve buffer breakfast lunch and dinner. Lots of food! Vegetarian, Meats, seafood, children’s…
I thought I will be bored and have nothing much to do. But the amazing tours keep you busy all day. It’s just tiring to wear a lot of layers + the hotel’s snow suit and boots. But so much needed - when we were there, temp was -28° at its coldest.
The frozen lake Inari is so magical. The starry night is awesome. You can clearly see constellations brightly. It’s a wonderful experience- one that we will never forget.
- N3392RSpault (4/5): A huge disappointment - The hotel was clean and functional. No phones or bathrobes offered robes in room. Therefore no communication with hotel unless you walk up to front desk with all your ski gear on
Food was very very poor, breakfast lunch and dinner.
Greeting was rude and unhelpful . We had been traveling for 14 hours , we are both in our late 60’s with 4 cases. The temp was -20 it was snowing and we were dispatched in total darkness in the general direction of the chalets. No real lighting or signage due to light pollution
On returning to front desk explaining we could not find the chalet they offered a service to help with bags for 40 euros or find a sledge and drag them in that!!
This was outrageous , my travel agent ageed and paid for both arrival and departure
Food was a very poor standard presented cold and replenished infrequently
No fresh juices and quality unsatisfactory
I did ask one evening it was possible for some simple cheese and biscuits as I really didn’t like the offerings . I was told it was not possible as only available generally once a week.
Ice cream I only saw 2x in my stay and was hugely popular due to unappealing alternatives

- godsentuk (8/5): Once-in-a-lifetime family holiday – magical, but with some disappointments - Our stay at Wilderness Hotel Inari was truly a once-in-a-lifetime holiday for our family, with many magical moments that we will treasure forever.
Highlights of our stay:
The Santa experience was absolutely magical. Having an elf arrive with a lantern to lead our child to Santa’s grotto felt very special (even if the route did pass through the car park!). Santa and his elves were wonderful with the children, engaging and unrushed, which made the experience feel genuine and memorable.
The buildings and overall design of the resort are beautiful. Our two-bedroom log cabin was stunning, cosy, and very well equipped, with underfloor heating and a log burner that made it incredibly comfortable.
The visit to the reindeer farm and the sleigh ride were amazing and a real highlight for the whole family.
The food at every meal was exceptional, with an impressive range of vegetarian and vegan options.
Child-friendly touches such as sledges placed around the resort for kids to use were greatly appreciated.
The tour guides were friendly, knowledgeable, and professional, and the ski suits provided were good quality and suitable for the conditions.
Areas for improvement:
Communication regarding the husky safari was extremely poor. We were picked up and taken to the husky farm, only to be told upon arrival that the sleigh ride would not be happening due to insufficient snow depth. While we fully understand the safety concerns, this should have been clearly communicated in advance.
Later that day, we were told we “should have been informed at check-in” and were offered a 15-minute sleigh ride during the reindeer farm visit as compensation. Given that the husky safari costs €230 per person (we were a family of four), this did not feel like adequate compensation and left us very disappointed with how the situation was handled.
Some assistance getting to our cabin on arrival would have been appreciated. While the walk is short, carrying suitcases and managing a toddler across icy paths was challenging.
If travelling with young children, I would strongly recommend swapping the snowmobile safari for another activity. We did this with our three-year-old and found it far too long and cold. Better insulation in the sleigh or a warm halfway stop would have made a significant difference.
Additional notes for families with small children:
There is an additional charge for a cot, which is worth knowing in advance.
I would recommend bringing your own gloves for children, as the ones provided were quite large and kept falling off.
Overall, Wilderness Hotel Inari offers an incredibly special and magical experience for families, with outstanding accommodation, food, and activities. However, clearer communication and better handling of activity changes would have significantly improved our experience.
- 464chrisg (10/5): Simply magical, and unmissable adventure - I’ve enjoyed a second holiday here at the Wilderness Hotel in Inari, travelling with the Aurora Zone from the UK.
As you might know, the hotel sits on the shore of one of the largest lakes in Finland, and this is where many of the adventures begin. The rooms are comfortable, warm and have underfloor heating, which makes stepping out of the shower a nicer experience!
The food from the buffet is delicious and varied. Vegans, vegetarians and those on a gluten free diet are catered for too. You will not be hungry.
It is the staff though, that made this holiday so special. Our guides on the snowshoe safari were wonderful, full of knowledge and enthusiasm in helping everyone enjoy this beautiful wilderness.
Special thanks to Reetta and Inka who ran our event last night. Seeing the aurora from the car park, they took us quickly to the lake so that we could all enjoy the display of the aurora. We walked back a longer route to enjoy the beauty of the forest under the clear, star filled skies. Simply magic!
If you get the opportunity to stay at the Wilderness Hotel in Inari, do so, its truly a trip of a lifetime.

- bkessler13 (10/5): Part of our honeymoon - Amazing place. Absolutely gorgeous location.
We stayed in one of the glass aurora houses and it was amazing.
There is no laundry service or safes in the room but everything was perfect besides that. The workers were friendly and awesome. Guides for the tours were AMAZING. Truly could not have had a better experience.
