Guest Reviews
- Marion (9/5): Ein wundervolles Haus genau zwischen Trubel (Princes Street) und Ruhe (Dean Village). - Die Lage der Chester Street 22 ist genial - genau zwischen dem Trubel (Altstadt - Princes Street - Edinburgh Castle) und der Ruheoase (Dean Village). Das Haus hat Charme. Fein war auch die Mitbenutzung eines Wohnzimmers. Dort saßen immer wieder andere Reisende, mit denen man ins Gespräch kommen konnte.
- Sandy (8/5): - The quiet location yet close to public transport and quick run into the city either by tram or bus Heavier curtains or blinds to block out the bright street lights at night.
- Kate (9/5): A great location and a clean and comfortable stay . - Absolutely spotless , good tea and coffee tray ,nice room , cotton sheets , friendly and helpful host .
Location was good for central Edinburgh , site seeing and shops and close to tram and railway station .
Excellent recommend for breakfast locally . Would have preferred bigger bath towels …. And prefer white . And two hand towels instead of one.
Also would be helpful to have shower gel pump in the shower area .
Being a shower over the bath it would also be useful to have a grip rail to help you get up into the bath and out .
- Laurence (7/5): - Teuchters pub a few streets away serves really nice and fresh scottish pub food. In the house, Lukasz was really helpful and took the time to give us explanations on the surroundings and how to get around. Nice reading room upstairs especially well lit with natural light in the evening. Nice in general to have the opportunity to stay in a victorian house Very expensive during the Fringe. 239 GBP for 1 night is largely overpriced for the services provided. The.bathroom is large and well lit, but it is nothing close to luxurious as described in some of the landlord's comments (mainly dated and you will be sharing the space with hairy long-legged inhabitants, I don't mind them but some customers do..) . It also is not ensuite and this is not explained in the description. You need to cross the reception area to get there.
The accommodation has the charm of an old house, nothing more . There is a storage space in the room which is really wobbly. The furniture is dated in general, and has no charm (at least in the bedroom). Strange choice and mix of decoration too. . A job from a local interior designer would help raise the bar and justify the rate

- Colin (9/5): Grand old style luxury in a fantastic location. - We had a huge family room for the 4 of us, located in the west end of the New Town, within walking distance of the city centre. The room was a grand reception room of a traditional Georgian house. The bathroom for our room was lovely, but not ensuite so we had to go through the entrance hall, but in doing so we did not encounter others so there was no real inconvenience. The location was so central that we had to pay extra for parking for the 2 nights of our stay.
- Ana Rita (10/5): Maravilhoso!!! - Gostei de absolutamente tudo.
Lukas, quem nos recebeu, foi excelente! Educadíssimo, disponível! Gostei de tudo!

- Shehrina (1/5): Great if you love giant spiders - The area was nice and quiet. I didn't mind the room much either. It was decent, a little shabby and musty but it's an old house so I won't complain about that. The bathroom was modern which was a plus. I usually try never to leave a negative review, but I need to share our experience. When we were getting ready to go to bed and turned over the covers, there was a huge spider there. It's not like something you would see inside a house, rather in a terrarium. I reached out to the staff and he came in after a while and he was upset that we were afraid and wanted it removed from our room. He kept saying we don't kill these things, it's a 200 year old house and it's expected that there would be spiders. I asked him to remove it from our room and turn the bed covers over to make sure there weren't any more but he was very snarky about it and kept saying there will be spiders, it's a 200 year old house. He did say he would return our money if we wanted to leave but it was 10 at night, during the Fringe festival and I was traveling alone with my two children. So that really wasn't an option. My daughter was traumatized by the whole experience. My whole point is, ok fine I accept it's a 200 year old house and is inhabited by giant spiders (about 2") but when your guests are afraid, the least you can do is turn the covers over the other beds and check the room to see if there are any more instead of acting nasty about it. Or mention that in your listing. I'm sure there are people out there who don't care if they have to share their living space with giant spiders, but there are also people with phobias. It was a terrible experience for us. We were only there to sleep (arrived at 9:30 pm and left at 6 am), so can't say anything else in terms of service.
- RACHAEL (8/5): Great stay in the middle of town - Great room and bathroom, comfortable and quiet. Lukas is an absolute gem of a host!
- Diana (8/5): - Location and room with entrance suite.
Great host and very helpful recommendations
Great pubs around the corner -No washcloths
-no ice available on request
- no en suite personal refrigerator
- suggest there would be a small table to hold the coffee station equipment, had to plug in the tea kettle on the floor

- Massimo (7/5): Molto accogliente - Tranquillità, intimità Il bagno non in camera

- Barbara (9/5): Beautiful property worth staying. - The location is very good. Excellent area, lots of Caffè and restaurants. I didn't like my bed. The bed was broken, couldn't sleep the first night. The pillows are too big.

Unkomplizierter, rascher Check-in.
- Anastasia (10/5): A spacious, beautiful property in a prime location! We would recommend to anyone for their visit to Edinburgh. - We stayed in the family room which was beautiful and very spacious, perfect for a family of 4 — everything in the property was clean and well kept. The host was also kind and very helpful which made our stay comfortable and easy. I would recommend staying at 22 Chester Street to anyone who is looking for an authentic experience of Edinburgh in a prime location, for a very reasonable price. We will happily stay here again on our next visit!

Haymarket
- Anne (5/5): - Good location
Good communication regarding arrival reception.
Good tea/coffee biscuits in room. Basement room needs upgrading/refresh.
Poor quality bedding and pillows.
Poor quality, uncomfortable bed.
Carpeting needs replacing.
Bathroom fixtures dated.
- Marta (7/5): -
- Sherry (8/5): We were pleased with our stay. - We were very happy with the location of the property. We didn't have any complaints.
- Henry (8/5): Overall a good place but without ensuite bath it was not worth the 186 pounds. - Host was helpful, room was capacious with extra beds. Apparently I did not read the fine print because our bathroom was down the hall. It was clean.
- Vanessa (9/5): The location was great and Lukas was very helpful! - The location was great and Lukas was very helpful! You are out of the way of the crowded tourist area but an easy and scenic walk to get there. Dean village was also very close.
- Roman (8/5): - The room is really spacious Bathroom accessible only through the hallway and the door kept closing and locking. Bit too noisy in the morning due to single pane windows - may be also cold in winter.
- Priya (10/5): -

- Paul (7/5): Make sure you get an Upstairs room - It’s a lovely Georgian house in Edinburgh’s New Town. It’s immaculately clean and in an ideal position for visiting the city. There’s definitely an Upstairs/ Downstairs feel to the property and we were definitely downstairs. The room was cold and underfurnished .
- Alicia (9/5): Nice experience - It has a good location, very close to one of the main street in Edinburgh, the room was very clean and comfortable. The bathroom is outside the bedroom but it is private and we didn´t have any problem.
- Anne (5/5): I would expect for the price, that a better bed would be provided. Also a complimentary breakfast - Location. Cleanliness Price. Bed not comfortable. Shower fixture not working properly.
- Deborah (8/5): - Awesome location. Decent and clean rooms.

- Concepcion (10/5): A truly delightful stay in a charming and quiet West End guest room, with a perfect central location and an exceptionall - We had a wonderful stay at this charming guest room in Edinburgh. The room is located in a beautiful and tastefully decorated period building, full of character and typical British charm. The host was exceptionally friendly and welcoming, always helpful and attentive, which made us feel right at home.
The location in the lovely West End is perfect – very central, yet peaceful and quiet. The city centre is within easy walking distance, and the tram stop to the airport is just a 5-minute walk away, making it very convenient for travel.
I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone visiting Edinburgh – a perfect blend of comfort, location, and warm hospitality!

- Guest (9/5): Characterful, quiet, perfectly located and a much appreciated friendly welcome - It was a pleasure to meet Lucas, who was so friendly and helpful. Thanks for the cookery books! The location is perfect and we were able to visit everthing we wanted on foot. Quiet and characterful. Very minor quibbles - two chairs would be nice for two people,- bedside lights hopeless for reading in bed - bathrobes mentioned in spec. never appeared (though we managed well enough)
- Sandra (8/5): It was a very nice stay. - The building has a 200-year history - the room was very beautiful. The host was very cordial and helpful. He gave us a city map and recommendations for what to do and where to grab a bite. The beds were not that comfortable but fine. The bathroom was outside the room, but very clean and we did not have to share it with strangers.
Nichts
- Julia (5/5): Misleading information and photograph - The room was in the basement and looked nothing like the one advertised on the booking.com site I didn't want to be in a basement
- Lise (10/5): Great location, beautiful home, wonderful host! - The location, the ambiance, the space, the library/salon, the welcome from Lukas
- Amber (10/5): We had a wonderful stay. Lucas was a great host. - I loved the location and the fact the home is historic. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. No fans in the rooms.

- Leslie (8/5): Quiet & good location - Location & Lucas was very helpful The mattress was not very comfortable. We were exhausted from traveling over night so honestly could’ve fallen asleep anywhere. Had we stayed another night we would’ve really noticed it more
- Larissa (10/5): Delightful comfortable home away from home - Delightful well located property in the West End of Edinburgh close to Dean Village.
Plenty of public transportation and restaurants to choose from.
- Guest (3/5): Unsatisfied - Bathroom not in room & I asked for that specifically because I have trouble walking. I asked your manager if we could move to one that did have across the way who had checked out and said no. I have to move the other people that are reserved & coming. Guess he didn’t want to accommodate. Don’t recommend it to others.
- René (9/5): - Stilen og beliggenheden Kunne ønske lidt køkkenfaciliteter. Eget toilet var ude på gangen
