Steps from excellent restaurants, the Riva, shopping, and historic settings. The bedding and shower were perfect. The included breakfast was delicious and more than we could possibly eat. The staff, Ivan and Edita, made rental car parking and luggage management a breeze and were unfailingly gracious and kind. A truly wonderful 3 day stay in the historic area of Split.

The staff simply couldn't do enough and i have never had better restaurant recommendations nor more care getting us to our taxi (remember the palace is a pedestrian zone). Lovely room too! I cannot suggest anything.

• Victoria (10/5): Perfection - The location was amazing! Our bedroom bridged Cardo Street so we could open up our windows and look straight out into old town and towards the cathedral and vestibule. Lying in bed taking in the atmosphere with the window open was amazing. Having said that, the room was quiet and peaceful as soon as we closed it - best of both worlds! The breakfast was a three course menu and absolutely delicious. The service was also great. The rooms were so clean and beautiful. Rituals products were divine. Cleaning staff were super quick and our room was always done perfectly by the time we arrived back. Finally, the hosts were brilliant and went above and beyond with helping with our luggage, booking us dinners (the best table in the house at Liones - chef’s kiss), recommending boat tours and giving general tips about where to go, what to see and the history of Split. Don’t hesitate - book this hotel as soon as you can! It’s was our favourite of the whole trip.

My family and I experienced true hospitality from Ivan, Evita and Jeronim. They left no questions unanswered. They were prompt, communicative and efficient, yet gentle. I wish I could say the most amazing part of my experience was being able to look out at the belltower of the cathedral as it rang while enjoying total peace and luxury. Instead, I’m wondering when I will book again. Do not hesitate to book this place!

• Mutandis (8/5): Dwell like a Roman Emperor - The fabulous location of Hotel Cardo allows residents to explore the Diocletian's Palace at their leisure, including in the brief period of peace before the arrival of the bulk of the Palace’s visitors. It really transformed our experience of Split to be able to visit the Peristyle and cathedral in relative solitude. Of course, there are some compromises that come with being located in such an ancient area. Our bathroom was a little whiffy and the small footprint of the hotel means that facilities are essentially limited to the rooms. However, the charming staff ensure that guests are well looked after. Their love and knowledge of the city certainly infused us with an appreciation for all that Split has to offer. An excellent breakfast is provided by the hotel at a welcoming local café. My only critical observation would relate to the strict “one-drink” policy of the café – it would be nice to be offered a second or third coffee (as you typically would be if taking breakfast in a hotel), rather than having to request and pay for one as an extra. Our room was spacious and historic, with a large, luxurious bathroom. Our windows opened onto the steps which lead to the entrance to the hotel. That’s not ideal from a privacy perspective, but it’s not like the ancient building can be remodelled at this point in its history. We really relished the opportunity to stay in such a beautiful building in the midst of one of the greatest surviving structures from the Roman age.
• Hope (10/5): - This was the perfect place to stay in Split, just steps from the center of the old town and a very short walk to the harbor. The room was lovely and very comfortable. The concierges were all helpful and one of them, Ivan, helped me find and book the most amazing place to stay outside of Plitvice Park for our next stop. He called them personally to arrange a better price than what was on offer. Then he printed out detailed driving directions because we were strugging with out GPS. Over and beyond service. If we ever return to Split, we will stay there again.

• Pamela (7/5): Fantastic location in the heart of a palace - A fantastic location in the heart of the Diocletian palace, and a room with a view of a street that is some 1700 years old. It was raining when we arrived and Edita met us at the ferry with umbrellas and arranged a taxi to the hotel - which we might have struggled to find otherwise. She was exceptionally helpful, recommending and booking a restaurant for lunch on the first day. Other reviews raved about the breakfast which is provided at a restaurant around the corner, but we didn't enjoy it as much as others have done. It's a three course affair that was quite heavy going and the single cup of coffee served as part of the breakfast felt a bit mean. Our room was smaller than we had expected so it did feel a little cramped, and the lighting was poor - only one bedside table with a single lamp and nowhere convenient to plug in a phone. We wished we had booked a larger room - but that's on us. A lesson learned for next time!

They went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed a perfect stay at the property. Our room and view was wonderful. overlooking the ancient cobblestoned walkway in the heart of the Diocletian's Palace. Hotel Cardo seemlessly retains the beauty and heritage of the Palace completed by modern amenities for our comfort. I would definitely recommend this property as the best in Split and look forward to visiting there again. nothing. It was ideal.

Warm, accommodating. and constantly went out of their way to ensure we had a wonderful stay.Their restaurant recommendations were fantastic.The location was perfect, right in the middle of Old Town Split in the heart of the Diocletian Palace. The property offered us the beauty of its ancient walls and surrounding but with all the modern bathroom, wifi amenties we needed. I would absolutely recommended this property when are visiting Split. all was perfect.

• Conor (10/5): Stunning hotel in an incredible location - Amazing old hotel with original windows etc right in in the middle of the old town. Staff were so helpful and nice - couldn’t do more. Room was tight but that is because it is the original building.

It's a small beautiful boutique hotel in the heart of Diocletian's Palace (I don't think you could get a better location if you tried). The hotel is beautiful, updated, and very well decorated. Bed / Linens / Bathroom were all top notch. The nicest shower of our trip. The included breakfast was partnered with a local restaurant around the corner (Konoba Korta), which was perfect because it was on our list of places to try. Food quality was delicious and you had several choices to pick from, a la carte and freshly made. All of that said, the BEST part of our stay here was the staff. They went above and beyond in every interaction to provide a fantastic, personalized experience. It was truly a luxury, boutique experience. From helping with our luggage upon arrival, to asking for restaurant recommendations (they even made our reservation for us upon request, and personally escorted us to show us the restaurant - it was a nice touch). We got to meet three different members of the staff during our short stay with them, and they were all lovely people. Upon check out, we were helped with our bags again + they helped show us the best place to set our Uber pickup location, and helped bring our bags all the way to the Uber (which was several blocks from the Hotel). Nothing. We would change nothing.

• davidcR6521SU (10/5): The Best! - This hotel is a hidden gem. Located 'in the middle of everything" and very comfortable in all ways measurable. The biggest aspect is staff. These people are so helpful and sincere. We had a medical issue and they dropped everything to help and guide. Edita was such a sweetheart and could not have been more helpful and sincere. If we go to Croatia again, I will not miss staying at Hotel Cardo.

• Mark (10/5): - So glad we found this place. Stayed at a total of 6 hotels during recent European trip and this, by far, was the best. The staff was as accommodating as any St Regis or the likes. While the rooms are small, you are inside the walls in the palace, beautifully appointed and very comfortable beds etc.
