Guest Reviews
- Dianne (4/5): - Did not get room that paid for. Room that we were given had dirty carpet dirty and not been vaccumed. Room had broken room window held open (heat wave in England) with piece of wood. Breakfast limited. No yogurt or fruit. Given butter for toast from a container in the kitchen and it was full of other people's crumbs and unidentified food. When complained to the Manager from London who was there to "sort out the hotel" - he was dismissive. Told me that it was cross contaminatied BUT that it was only butter... I wonder if Health and Safety would agree with him.
- Richard (10/5): A Great Find! - An absolute pleasure to stay here whole in the area on business. The rooms are thoughtfully designed and the staff polite, cheerful and accomodating.
The menu is made up of pretty standard fayre but is very good in quality and both of the meals that I ate at the Mill street Pub and Kitchen arrived at the table piping hot...a rareity these days!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Small but cosy room. Good bathroom except for tap over basin which delivered water to the floor!
For our age group (late 70s) the thump of pop music until 11 pm rising through the floor was disturbing. But these details were more than compensated for by the lovely staff and the excellent food. All in all we very much enjoyed our stay and would stay again .
- Michelle (6/5): Average - Quick booking in good facilities in room including coffee machine and plenty of supplies. Comfortable bed and quality towels. Great location for local area Oakham wonderful market town. Good bar comfortable seating. Cooked breakfast catering for all tastes.
Cleanliness of room edges needed attention eg windows and sills.
Draft from sash windows especially bathroom, which had no blind to contain heat.
Unfortunately bar has music all day and at weekends this goes on beyond 12 at night, and commences again in the morning at 8. The speakers are directly underneath the bedrooms, the bathroom didn’t.t have the same noise level. Whilst it may be a public bar with residents if music could be changed to more mellow rather than deep base thumping after 11.
When checking out we were asked how stay had been and when we raised the fact about the music the attitude was’ we are a public bar’. The fact that residents pay a lot for a nights stay was obviously of no importance and for this reason we would not return.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Problem - its 08:11 on a Sunday morning and music is blaring from downstairs bar area. Otherwise fine...
- Simon (10/5): Fantastic place, friendly staff great food - The staff are really friendly and helpful. The place is contemporary and beautifully decorated. Room was fantastic, cosy, clean and very well equipped. Great nights sleep followed by a fantastic breakfast, good was very good quality and cooked beautifully. Car park at rear was east to find and parked without fuss, only small though as it is mainly for guests who are staying I would guess. Fantastic place to stay, staff were brilliant. We shall definately stay again.
- Andrew (8/5): Great value nights stay and excellent food. - Great value nights stay including an excellent cooked breakfast. We also ate in the bar in the evening and I had one of the best burgers I have had in a long time. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Would have been close to al 5's but the windows in the bar and the bedroom were very draughty. To be fair it was probably the coldest night of the year to date but it did detract from the atmosphere in the bar and meant we had to have the radiator on a higher setting that we would have liked. If you did want an early night the bar was quite noisy until around 11.15pm after which it died down pretty quickly. The outdoor smoking area was right below our window which again was very noisy with a banging door - perhaps install a closer? Double glazing would pretty much solve both problems but planners might have something to say about that! All in all we would without doubt stay here again. Thanks to everybody there.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff were lovely and helpful, couldn’t do enough for me as a customer.
- Ian (10/5): Amazing - Fantastic place, awesome rooms, amazing service
- Mark (10/5): - Beautiful roaring fire and a few drinks in nice surroundings.Family room no7 really nicely decorated and plenty of room for 4 would recommend
- Christiaan (10/5): Perfect room - Great people, not difficult when you ask something different then the menu. Rooms were very need and up to date. Enjoyed my stay!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Central to Oakham and parking in site. - Nice modern hotel. Staff were welcoming and friendly. The room was very comfortable and had everything you might need. But Because the hotel room was on a Main Street it could be noisy at times. On a negative note the breakfast was disappointing, a long wait for food, there was a shortage of cereal, juice and milk. The smoked salmon was OK but the scrambled egg was dry and the watercress was past its best. We had to ask for sauces as they were not readily available.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Tidy - Quick check in, quiet night, tidy room, excellent breakfast. Room equipped with a big TV, tea and coffee making facilities, hair drier, lots of toiletries in the bathroom. Excellent stay.
- John (10/5): What a great stay - Stayed for 1 night and wished it was longer. Room was excellent. Modern, stylish decor just as in the photos when booking. Comfy bed. Lovely bathroom with walk in shower. Full English breakfast in morning was great and could be taken until 11.30am so a nice lie-in was had. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful. Well done all and thanks for a super short break. Will definitely be back.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Accommodation and food good but kept awake by loud thumping music .
- Lesley (8/5): Stylish hotel with great food. - Good location for lovely Oakham. Stylish hotel with nice touches - coffee maker etc.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very noisy on arrival which was a real shame. Apparently 5-7pm is Bar Bingo. Although there was no one there! The music was pounding and we hurried upstairs to leave our suitcases and find another Pub!
We returned later, when it was quieter and had a good meal.
The staff were lovely and very helpful. Room was fine but stuffy, and as we were on a fairly busy road, we didn't open the windows. Breakfast was delicious.
The staff definitely get full marks. They were excellent.
