Guest Reviews
- David (6/5): It was fine, but I suggest the owners relax the rules a bit. - Pleasant cottage on a farm. Decent wi-fi and heating. Clean and tidy. This place has a long list of strict rules, most of them obvious (eg don't use the vacuum cleaner outside, don't put tea bags down the toilet), some totally unnecessary (only named guests allowed on the property). Our daughter and her husband who have a caravan nearby were not allowed to visit. No children is fair enough, but adults? There's only a small amount of crockery which makes life difficult as (of course) you're not allowed to use the dishwasher unless it's full. There's a gate at the end of the drive which has to be opened and shut every time you drive in and out. Not pleasant at night in heavy rain. This is all a shame as it's a tidy and comfortable property.
- Kathy (10/5): Would definitely recommend lovely peaceful place could have stayed longer - Clean tidy and very peaceful Has everything you need and more
- Lynda (10/5): Just book this accommodation - Beautiful appointed, quiet and very clean which is everything I look for. There was also a slice of cake that was mouth watering and greatly appreciated.
Congratulations you have a wonderful place.

- j (8/5): . - Good location for our trip to Devon. Property was in a nice, quiet location and was clean and well equipped Was chilly on arrival. Maybe good to have heating on before guests’ arrival in colder months.
Some softer, more ambient lighting in lounge area would be nice .
- Hayley (10/5): - The family were really friendly and couldn't be more helpful. The location was great for travelling to lots of places in North Devon. Holsworthy town has lots of facilities you need for self catering eg supermarkets, petrol station, pubs serving food and also a swimming pool and local market. The accommodation was beautiful and very well equipped and clean. Nothing.

- Joy (9/5): Off the planet beautiful place to stay - In the most beautiful place, so quiet.
Lovely facilities with everything you could want. The owners went out of there way to be friendly and helpful
- Gemma (10/5): Exceptional - Wow, what an amazing 3 nights we have had at the Homestead.
The cottage is absolutely beautiful and was immaculate.
We visited Spekes Mill, Welcombe Beach, Northcott Mouth Beach, and Holsworthy for some lovely walks.
The farm is beautiful and we enjoyed walking the river and the fields.
We spent the evenings star gazing and then back inside cosy by the log burner.
The cottage is like home from home and has everything you need.
Listening to the owl in the evenings was wonderful, too.
Thanks, Paul, for a superb New Year's break. The Christmas cake was a lovely touch and delicious, too.
We will definitely be back for a summer stay. That we didn't book to stay for longer!
- Philip (10/5): Fantastic stay definitely one on my favourite list. - Everything was amazing and very clean.
You didn’t need or want for anything.
Fantastic property and fantastic hosts. Absolutely nothing
- Joanne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Knowles (10/5): Exceptional - In 2 words: absolutely pristine.
A great cottage in a lovely location. Would consider returning. Nothing, everything was perfect.
- Bren (10/5): Lovely location. Paul is very friendly and helpful. Made us feel very welcomed. - Lovely little cottage. Beautiful location.
- Annette (7/5): A thoroughly lovely time visiting Devon and this property was very near the wedding we attended. - Arriving to find home baked cake at the property. Being greeted by the owner and knowing that we could ask their assistance for anything if necessary. Finding that the downstairs cloakroom was locked up because we were only 2 out of 4 people that could use the property. The fact that we were expected to clean the property or £50 would be imposed. We were hardly there and are not messy. Also this is not an AirBnB.
- Mark (9/5): Good -
- Tony (10/5): Everything we needed and more to unwind, the only downside was we didn’t stay for longer. - Beautifully accommodation in a beautiful location , very clean well maintained property with everything you could possibly need There wasn’t anything to dislike
- Charlie (10/5): A perfect relaxing weekend - The property was beautiful. Stunningly appointed, comfortable and perfectly clean and in an absolutely beautiful location. Had absolutely everything you could want and more! Genuinely nothing. It was all lovely
- Martin (10/5): Comfortable and peaceful. - Perfect country location. Quiet and peaceful. Very comfortable accommodation. The attention to detail in the building construction is very impressive. The shower is a little weak and quite difficult to adjust. A mixer would be an improvement. Don't be put off - this is a very minor point and the rest of the cottage easily exceeds any normal expectations.
- Louise (8/5): Lovely place to stay for a quiet break - This is a lovely bungalow in a quiet area with everything you would need. Paul is a great host as he greeted us on arrival and sent us clear instructions on how to get to the bungalow and even clearer instructions on how to use the appliances. The icing on the cake was that we were welcomed with a slice of homemade cake which was a lovely surprise after such a long journey from London. We will definitely book again on our next visit to Devon
- Cheryl (10/5): Great place to base a North Devon holiday - even in mid winter ! - Exceptionally clean , well equipped and great location. Communication with the owner was prompt and helpful - we chose the cottages as they are close to family for larger gatherings and we will certainly book here again - thank you for a wonderful stay - highly recommended Leaving !!
- Michelle (10/5): Beautiful location, welcoming hosts, peaceful and excellent accommodation - Very insulated cottage and cosy.
Sofas incredibly comfortable.
Fantastic nights sleep and bed big enough for husband’s 6’2” frame.
Peaceful and able to walk the farm trail with a few animals on the way.
Welcomed by hosts very nice. Nothing.
- Tara (10/5): We loved it and didn't want to leave - Paul was so welcoming, the homestead was so clean and had everything we needed for lovely weeks holiday. I honestly cannot think of anything that could have been better from the comfortable beds, garden games, hammocks, well planned kitchen, shower over the bath, comfortable sofas and farmland to explore. No need to go to a dark sky area, just turn the lights out! Nothing it was all brilliant.
- Nikki (7/5): Perfectly adequate. - Very clean throughout. Good wifi. Uncomfortable bed and sofas. TV needs updating. Towels were crispy from line drying. Not enough toilet roll. Feels a bit under the watchful eye of the owner.
- Jemma (10/5): Great holiday cottage - Clean, well equipped, easy to find and a great location Couldn't find the oven glove
- Linda (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely comfortable and well equipped cottage in a quiet rural location. Great outdoor seating area. Paul is very helpful and welcoming. Wouldn't hesitate to return if we were in the area. Nothing.
- Paul (7/5): Good -
- Kirsty (10/5): Exceptional - We absolutely loved our stay! Couldn't of been happier. Such a lovely quiet place to have a relaxing weekend. The cottage is stunning and impeccably clean (and I'm OCD) and it had absolutely everything we needed inside and out. I also made 2 little mates that greeted me outside a lot.... 2 wee kitty's 😺😁 very friendly.
Paul met us outside when we got there and was super friendly and polite! Always at the end of the phone if we needed anything at all which was very comforting as we had never been to holsworthy before. We met his dad too who was also lovely and we had a nice chat. Really nice family and made us feel super super
welcome!
Would go back in a heartbeat, I didn't want to leave! Absolutely nothing!
- Peter (10/5): Amazing!!!!Paul was very helpful .will be going back . - needs a better tv .
- Louise (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anne (10/5): Exceptional - Paul and family were very welcoming and helpful. The cottage was nicely decorated and immaculate, in a quiet location with the sound of owls under a dark sky. Definately somewhere to visit again
- Mcdonald (10/5): A lovely quaint setting in a very special cottage. - The cottage was very clean and nicely/ decorated. There was much attention to all the details to make the guest ‘s stay pleasant and comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our staff and the owners were very accommodating and pleasant. I would not hesitate staying there again. There wasn’t anything that we disliked about the property.
- Stephanie (7/5): The property was O.K. but certainly rather overpriced. - The property was O.K. but certainly rather overpriced compared to many other similar holiday cottages we have stayed in.
- Anthony (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ann (10/5): Lovely quiet and comfortable farm location - Lovely quiet farm location.
Comfortable lodge, pretty much everything has been thought of - my daughter could not find a pizza wheel however!
The sheep were really cute, my children loved feeding them.
The host/owner Paul is a really lovely kind person who did everything possible to make our stay lovely. All really good, at a push my other half was a little wary of driving his camper down the lane to the farm but not really a problem.
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional - The cottage is in a great location with very little else around. This place would really suitable someone who wants to get away from it all. After saying that Waitrose is only 10 minutes down thev road by car. The only problem, in the eyes of our boys was because of the remote location the wi-fi wasn't so good. Now my wife and I would say that is a small price to pay for such a great location, but they are students and live on the Internet.
- Julie (9/5): A very enjoyable, relaxing and comfortable stay. - The Homestead cottage has everything you need and has been done to high standard and is very comfortable, very clean, and we loved the porch seating and hammock, which was ideal for relaxing in lovely countryside surroundings and very peaceful. I didn’t cook this holiday, but there is waitrose and Co op and also M&S at petrol station nearby. Bude has Morrisons, which is about 15 mins drive.
It is a good base to explore the many beauty spots which we travelled to, including Bude, Widemouth bay, Polzeath, Crackington Haven, Tintagel, Padstow, Boscastle and Port Isaac and we also did lots of body boarding. Paul was a great host, checked our family in and also checked we was ok with everything and then when I had a query, Paul got straight back to me,(so was always at hand if was needed), and then didn’t see him until home time for checking out. The Rydon Inn nearby for food is fabulous. We would definitely go back and would highly recommend holsworthy holiday cottages. Thank you for a memorable holiday!
- Josh (10/5): Exceptional - Just wow!!!! No need for any more comments at all apart from how lovely the Owners are!
