Guest Reviews
- Lynne (7/5): Fantastic sea view and good location - Fantastic views and friendly staff. A high standard of cleanliness. We had to rush breakfast on first morning and miss it on the second as it didn't start until 9am and we had to catch trains early on both days. I would visit again but I wouldn't book breakfast. 7
- Jacqueline (9/5): - Breakfast was great and location brilliant..first room was awful but clean moved to another room which was fantastic
- John (8/5): -
- Nicola (10/5): - Friendly staff, clean rooms with amazing views. Fresh, tasty breakfast. Fab location.
- Elisabeth (8/5): - Das Hotel liegt sehr zentral. Es war alles gut erreichbar und das Personal hilfsbereit. Unser Zimmer war leider noch nicht renoviert.
- Sharice (9/5): - Very comfy bed. Perfect location and stunning view Can hear a lot of bangs from the door, as well as people outside
- Danielle (10/5): -
- Sophie (10/5): -
- Sharon (9/5): - Great location, great sea view, great breakfast
- donald (8/5): Thoroughly enjoyed my stat\y - Great View Nothing
- Pamela (8/5): Lovely - Location and view Too many stairs
- Vanessa (7/5): Just Loved Tenby!! - Beautiful cliff top location, walking distance to everything. Lovely staff, great breakfast and room spacious with comfortable bed. We had a top floor room facing the ocean, very outdated, shabby and the view was blocked by a grey wall. Quite disappointing.
- Jane (8/5): Great stay at Royal Lion Hotel in Tenby - Hotel location really good overlooking north beach. Near shops, bars and restaurants. Staff friendly, room spacious and clean. Good breakfast included too.
Would definitely stay there again. Nothing we didn’t like
- Derek (10/5): friendly, accommodating, value for money, lovely breakfast, just a lovely place - our view from our bedroom was amazing that I didn't want to leave the comfort of my chair to go into town, the hotel is in the middle of a large refurbishment, but our room was very stylist and modern, and very clean, they have kept the traditional wackiness in the bar area, We couldn't fault any of the staff, happy, friendly and very accommodating, We will be going back. nothing
- Nikki (9/5): Great location, great hosts. - Fantastic Location overlooking North Beach.
Large light sea view room - newly refurbished.
Friendly staff. No complaints
- Kath (5/5): Nice if on first and second floor otherwise don’t bother - Loved our room, the first two floors have been done out, really nice. But we had friends staying on third floor and forth and they shouldn’t be allowed to use them until done out. The third and fourth floor shouldn’t be allowed to be open or give a massive discount
- Jane (4/5): Amazing location - hotel needs some tlc and then it would be great - Great location on sea front and had a sea view room. Comfortable bed v tired hotel. V odd room layout with a small side room with a sofa looking at a wall and only 1.5m away from it! Windows overlooking sea front v grubby and suffer from seagull poo. Bathroom v basic and small.
Breakfast was poor quality
- Martin (8/5): - Great location, our room overlooked the beach and harbour Breakfast was a little late at 0900hrs, would have preferred an earlier start
- ceri (10/5): We are going home a lot more relaxed 💗 - The location is perfect, the view is beautiful! A sea view room is a must. I have spent the early mornings watching the tide ebb and flow. And the harbour go about it’s business, the boats chugging out the open sea I found it very relaxing. Having to go home 😢
- michael (9/5): - friendly staff in clean basic hotel with great location Pillows.
- Jayne (8/5): Fabulous location - Fabulous sea view.
Great breakfast.
Friendly staff.
Great location. Nothing
- Adrian (7/5): - Great location. Great views. Nice reception, friendly staff. Decent breakfast. The rooms really need updating. Quite shabby. There's no lift.
- Helena (9/5): - Beautiful comfortable room with Sea view Dirty windows
- Geraint (10/5): A great place to stay - The location, views, food, drink and staff Nothing
- philip (10/5): Perfect staff and a lovely Atmosphere and very comfortable - Great staff, Breakfast excellent and Perfect room Was a bit noisy from adjoining room.
- Joshua (7/5): - Drinks was included with breakfast. Location was spot on
- Trevor (4/5): Nice staff working hard to bring a place up to standard with some success but be careful of room choice and specify a mo - Central and nice staff Room was one that had not seen refurbishment. Several rooms have and look great. Choose your room carefully as the older ones are literally 70s standard and shabby to say the least.
- Neil (8/5): Good short stay - Central location , newly decorated , good breakfast , friendly staff. Comments sent to hotel direct ..
- Chris (9/5): Second Visit - Location was fantastic, and the views from the room were amazing. Beds comfy had a great night's sleep. I know this cannot be helped on the seafront but the windows were full of bird poo i would recomend cleaning daily as the view from the rooms are the main event and evidently what they pay for. Would of liked a fridge in the room.
- Sukhvinder (8/5): It was a nice relaxing stay. - Property was nice, had a sea view room. Room has plenty of space. Originally was given a room on the fourth floor and the stairs were too many to climb every time we needed to come and go. so we asked for a change of room, which the staff were happy to do.
- philip (7/5): - The room was beautiful, the view was amazing and the bed was comfortable. Staff were pleasant and the location was brilliant Even though the hotel had free wifi, we couldn't connect at all and ended up using quite a lot of my own data. Breakfast was a buffet style and it was like warm at best.
- LEE (10/5): Excellent room great location looking forward to staying again. - Stayed here before and it was ok.but it's had a big refurbishment and the wow factor was amazing can't wait to stay here again.
- Tracey (9/5): - Decor, location and staff The sink was in the main bedroom area not in the bathroom and it was by the window so not very private. No hand towel or place to hang one by the sink.
- Neil (10/5): - Amazing place new owners have done amazing job The stairs lol
- Tracy (8/5): - The views , the location and staff.Room was nice too. The bathroom was very dated , the TV didn't work and a leaky radiator pipe that damaged my handbag.
- steven (10/5): - Great hotel great friendly Staff Nothing
- Dawn denner (8/5): - The sea view room was very good spacious and comfortable
- Rosaline (8/5): -
- Ella (1/5): -
- Rachel (10/5): Would highly recommend - super hotel. - The staff were very cheerful and welcoming. Hotel very clean. Great breakfast.
- Raymond (10/5): -
- Nia (7/5): - The location was excellent overlooking the harbour. The room (103) was large and spotlessly clean, and decorated to a high standard. There were 2 armchairs in the window with a little table. Bathroom clean. The refurbed areas we saw weere done to a high standard. Lovely entrance way and Puxleys next door for food. Breakfast was good. The Stage Door bar downstairs was quirky in a good way. Some really cool film and tv memorabilia. Staff were helpful when we needed but left us to ourselves generally which we liked. There was nowhere to hang our coats in the room or bathroom (other than wardrobe but we wouldnt do that as they were damp after rain). Bed whilst comfortable was very low. No hook to hang wet towels in bathroom and no wall toilet roll holder other than an upright stand on the floor which was easier to take it off to use. WiFi is not great in the room we had. My phone wouldn't connect as signal not good but that was throughout the town too (tesco mobile). As the TV was an Internet tv, I had to use my mobile hot-spot to connect rather than hotel WiFi. I did ask the lady on reception but she had been having issues herself with Internet so this could have been a mast issue rather than hotel (not sure) .
All being said, the view more than made up for any minor niggles and we will happily go back.
- chris (9/5): Enjoyable. - The hotel is well situated in the main town. The room was great and clean. Bright and all well maintained. Breakfast service and food was excellent. Plenty of tea and coffee in room. All staff and room cleaners a credit to the hotel.. No main complaints, as hotel is still going through a refurb, but this did not affect our stay.. The only improvment in my opinion would be hooks on the walls or doors to hang coats or jacket in the room.
- Phillip (5/5): - The proximity No lift I'm disabled copd
- Aimie (8/5): -
- Julia (8/5): Overall a very good hotel, enjoyed everything except carrying luggage up to top floor - Excellent location, lovely sea view room, clean and spacious, friendly staff, No lift, Stairs only to rooms, top room was 7 flights of stairs, struggled with luggage,
- Ryan (8/5): -
- Raymond (10/5): -
- Sharon (10/5): - View, food, staff, location, room all excellent. We will be coming back Nothing. It's just perfect 👌
- Tasha (10/5): - Room was very clean, staff were lovely, night porter was so friendly, he made me and my daughter feel so welcome, we really enjoyed our stay Wasn't a fan of the stairs but that was nothing really, to many for me 🙈
- Chandler (8/5): - Location & breakfast Stairs to the top floor
- Susan (9/5): -
- Colin (5/5): - Morning breakfast room good area good No lift top room no sea view stairs unforgiving

- andrew (8/5): will stay again for sure. - What a great location, spotlessly clean, room very large and airy, we had 101, the only thing was the Toilet seat was broken, other than that, it was great. N/A
- Lisa (10/5): -
- Philippa (9/5): -
- Kelly (10/5): Amazing evening, made friends for life. - The clientele in the Stage Door Bar in the evening. Also loved the decor in the bar.
- Kronsteiner (3/5): - Area No lift 4 flights of stairs old carpets could become a problem
- matthew (8/5): -
- Alli (9/5): The hotel is in a fantastic location with beautiful sea views, we were upgraded to a sea view room, - The hotel is in a fantastic location with beautiful sea views, we were upgraded to a sea view room, which made the stay even more special. It’s also really convenient, with a car park less than 5 minutes away and close to the train station (although we drove).
Highly recommended!
- Christine (9/5): -
- Jason (8/5): Great weekend away in a good hotel - Room 201 has obviously been renovated recently and the views from it were fantastic. Comfy lounge area and quirky bar
Breakfast room was light and welcoming. Once all the rooms are completed will be a great hotel Not a great deal, in fairness it was a clean good value property with exceptional views and really friendly staff
- Bernice (5/5): Ok for one night but wouldn’t stay again - The view Not cleaned room dirty toilet coffee stains on bedside table could of been touched before arrival basically I would say all that was done is bed change
- Robert (10/5): - Lovely stay, refurbished beautifully staff were amazing nothing to much trouble I am disabled and room was on a high floor so lots of stairs to climb
- Sian (10/5): -
- Annette (8/5): - Room was very good . The bathroom was old fashioned and bath was stained
- Guest (9/5): - Lovely sea front hotel, location fab. All the newly decorated rooms are lovely, spacious and decorated beautifully. Hopefully top floor will be updated as good as the other floors. First night we stayed on 4th floor.. Room was dated, poorly patched up, flush didn't work properly.
Was moved second night to first floor and newly decorated room, was lovely and spacious, very pleased with the newly decorated room.
- corrie (9/5): Fabulous - The location was fabulous Nothing
- Sophie (10/5): -
- mike (7/5): - Great location and very friendly manager Wry poor Wi-Fi
- Craig (9/5): Ideal hotel for an overnight in Tenby - View of the harbour from the superior bedroom.
- Mike (10/5): Beautiful clean and friendly hotel made our stay in Tenby lovely. Would recommend the sea view rooms, could look at that - Location beach views and the look of the hotel was amazing The stairs 🤣
- Chris (8/5): - The newly renovated rooms have been done very well with fantastic views. The price was very good as it included breakfast. I enjoyed the bar and music. There were some cleanliness issues, wrappers under the bed, red smudges on the walls and dirty toilet seat but apart from that the room was great. You can see there are more renovations going on which was expected, once completed the hotel will look fantastic. Breakfast was enjoyable but our breakfast order was also lost, we had to check where it was after seeing everyone else eat theirs and leave. We had to wait 40 minutes.
- Warren (8/5): We had a lovely short break, fantastic sea view and friendly helpful staff, and we will be back for another visit soon - Great location with a wonderful sea view The bathroom could do with updating
- sian (7/5): Great location , good breakfast, dated room - The location is fantastic, car park near by , the ground floor of the hotel is lovely and modern however our room was very dated.
The cleanliness was good, the breakfast was good. The dates decor and furniture
- Mandy (8/5): - Superior Double Room was recently refurbished, lovely decor, comfortable bed, fantastic sea view. Breakfast was good quality. No iron/ironing board in room. Water pressure in shower could be better
- linda (7/5): - Tasty No lift
- Sian (10/5): - Lovely room, seafront view ,large room, stayed here before, many times. Been upgraded now and is looking lovely. Would recommend. Nice little bar aswell. Lovely breakfast. Nothing
- reeve (7/5): Delightful, big advantage is the location - Superb view, Room102. Bed linen and Towels superb. Comfy bed One or two things but discussed it with management and "in hand"Delightful
- Hayley (10/5): 5p - Beautiful hotel, nice and clean..wik visit againm All I needed, but could of been sore coffees, tea and sugars. Also extra blanket. Gets cold early hours.x
- Jonathon (8/5): Great location, welcoming staff, under some renovation, but didnt bother us, would visit again -
- Philip (9/5): Very good - Friendly staff good location
- Holly (9/5): lovely room and location - very modern room and lovely big window for sea view must have thin floorboards as could hear somebody upstairs from very early
- Joanne (7/5): nice but basic - lovely view and food breakfast no wardrobe or anywhere at all to hang clothes
bathroom could
of been cleaner
bed very
uncomfortable
- Andrew Maria (10/5): -
- Elizabeth (5/5): Lovely location but wouldnt stay again - Location was lovely amd the view was pretty.. bar was quirky and interesting. The service was quick at breakfast. The foyer reception area was very pretty, clean and well maintained. The bed was rock solid hard. The toilet didnt flush. The shower was hard work, pressure was really poor and temperature unpredictable. Had to use the toilet over the other side of the building. We was on the top floor over the far side of the building and there is no lift so it was a long walk the door to the room didnt shirt properly.
- Darren (8/5): -
- Mathew (8/5): Brilliant location - The room was brilliant and the views amazing, I liked the fact you had the bar at the bottom, and it's very local and close to the shops and carpark had a really good time in tenby would stay again. The only thing was I booked a superior room and it said it had a wardrobe in it but there wasn't one so there was nowhere to hang tops
- Roger (10/5): Brilliant - Spotless and clean comfy excellent location , Simon the owner was very helpful would book again Nothing
- Sam (10/5): Short birthday break - It's had a brilliant renovation and now has a lovely class about it. Bathroom was amazing, linen crisp and clean, amazing views morning and night, located right next to the town. The staff were incredibly helpful, the night porter was a great laugh and our waitress for breakfast was incredibly well mannered and attentive. Can't fault our stay, can't wait to go back
- robert (6/5): - Room was nice 👌 and breakfast was 10 🌟 having Having to pay for car parking
- Simon (8/5): -
- James (10/5): -
- Judith (8/5): Fantastic views - Fantastic location and views, and a handsome old historic building. We knew there was no parking at the hotel, but the nearest long-stay car parking turned out to be some distance away, and the hotel staff did not offer any parking suggestions/information.
The breakfast menu was limited and didn't include a 'healthy' option or even cereals. The English breakfast was fine, if not the largest portion.
The building was not in the best repair, the basin tap in our room was a bit wobbly - its latest refit seemed to have put style over substance. The stairs and staircase windows were a bit worn too.
