Guest Reviews
- Alan (10/5): Terrific Family Getaway! - Our stay here was incredible! Highly recommend to all!
- Darwin (8/5): - Great room
- Roland (4/5): - Area is beautiful, and the wildlife is amazing. Buildings are mostly outdated and rustic, which is fine considering the price.
Whomever was on site gave all of the keys for the night to one person and made her in charge of giving out the keys to everyone for the night. We were in the same group, but all booked separately so I’m not sure how she knew we were all together. Had they left the keys in the mailbox like usual, my wife wouldn’t have had to wait an hour to get in our room. Bed is old and not great, but not horrible. Woke up to two of our rooms not having hot water - tried to call but no one responded and the lady on site didn’t seem to get any of the messages that were left. Fortunately a couple rooms still had hot water so we shared bathrooms - but the one we used the power went out so it was a dark, but warm, shower. Although whatever system is used it would get cold after a few minutes then warm up again. Weird. Overall, pretty disappointing based on what we usually get while staying there.
- Mark (10/5): - Great quiet getaway!
- Richard (8/5): - The room we stayed in was very nice, but it was very unnerving to be the only guests, especially because there was no staff on-site either.
- Cheyenne (8/5): - Room was well appointed and warm on a snowy vacation. Checkin was essy. Friendly staff supplied extra coffee etc.
- Andrew (2/5): - I booked a room same day as check in, but the property closes at 5p and had to go thru an answering service and 2 people to be told i wouldnt be able to get a room, waiting in 20 degree weather with snow and ice on the road, had to drive 2.5hrs at 15mph to get off the mountain for other accommodations. Terrible experience.
- linda (10/5): - We had a new room, all wood, gorgeous bathroom, the room was a big, comfortable room with 2 comfortable recliners. Great bed, so pleasantly surprised Gorgeous deck, ans views
- Serapio (10/5): - It was exactly what we were looking for. A couple of beds and a shower. Perfect. Property looked clean. Will use again.
- RAY (10/5): Weekday getaway. - Quite location, yet close to town . Good accommodations the met our stay. Unfortunate restaurant was closed.
- Kimberly (10/5): - We enjoyed the electric fireplace so much!
- Elke (8/5): - Check in was staff less, so I cannot really rate the staff, but the written instructions where good enough for me to get into my room.
No complaints about the room and I like the location, very quiet!
- Greg (4/5): - Beds where small, the room was not level.
- Patrick (10/5): - Great propert for the price. Restaurant was closed and we got keys through mailbox delivery on-site. Clean and nice accommodations.
- Raul (10/5): - Very clean and super quiet too bad restaurant is closed
- Josef (8/5): - Restaurant is closed. Pictures of gym are far away from reality, actually there is no gym. Office is permanently closed. Looks like self service campground with rooms.
Positive side is clean rooms, Wi-Fi available, and very attractive location.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Could have been better! - when we arrived mid-day, a housekeeper was there, but no office person. the housekeeper looked for our reservation, and luckily found it. waited a while for her to find it. the shower did not work, and the bath plug was not there, so we could not bathe or shower. no employees there to correct the problem. lamp next to bed did not work, so no reading. beautiful setting.
- Stephen (8/5): - Housekeeping was amazing, very polite and attentive. Water came out like magma so becareful you don't sterilize yourself.
- Melinda (8/5): - Didnt see any staff while we were here, which was fine. The game room/gym was great. Quiet and peaceful property. Rooms had what we needed.
- Jenny (10/5): - We loved staying here it was close to town & was comfortable. The shower was giant & was my favorite part. My only complaint was the a/c wasnt super cold but we left the wi dows open & it helped. We'll stay here again.
- Veronica (10/5): - I liked everything about this place! Sure wish they would re-open the saloon, it's such a nice place!
- Isabel (8/5): Very nice simple and clean - So perfect location and clean. Thank you!!
- Chad (10/5): - Quite and clean. Lots of wildlife
- Ray (10/5): - Quiet and clean. Easy check in and out.
- David (8/5): - Clean & quiet, no food for 30 miles—only McDonalds
- Larry (8/5): - I have stayed here in the past and then it had a restaurant you could have a meal and a few drinks. It would be nice to have that again. Cell service is nonexistent, and the Wi-Fi is unreliable. But the bed is clean and comfortable, and the place is quiet.
- Colleen (8/5): - The porches boards need to be nailed down better I can’t tell you how many times I about tripped and fell. I couldn’t reach my room butler to help with the TV I had to call the Eager one to get any help. The office was closed to even talk with anyone about anything I didn’t like that but The area was beautiful would I stay here again? I’m not sure.
- Michael (8/5): - Beautiful area our room was Very nice. Jetted tub. I wish they would improve the wi-fi. Just so we could access mapping apps of the area. 👍
- philip (6/5): - considering that you basically out in the middle of nowhere the property is not bad. has a nice clean rustic 80s feel to it. check in is confusing, ready your confirmation letter. the rooms and the location are nice and the area feels safe.
- Lincoln (10/5): - Used to stay here as a kid - glad you’re still in business and looking great!
- Catherine (10/5): - Very peaceful
- Lauren (10/5): - Beautiful location and convenient to city of Alpine and recreation areas.
Property could use a few updates but the location is so pleasant and peaceful. Lots of wildlife in the area too.
- Caroline (10/5): - Beautiful place to stay. Clean and very comfortable. Enjoyed seeing elk near the property. 5 star and recommended to all!
- Dr. Kim (10/5): - Super quiet and super high quality interior.
- Davina (8/5): - Nice stay!
- Mark (10/5): - The lodge is secluded in a beautiful location. There were a herd of elk in front of my cabin in the morning. Wish the restaurant and bar would have been open, but I think I was too early in the season.
- Jason (2/5): - The site was completely dark, closed down with nobody staff there. This is located in the mountains and there was 2ft of snow everywhere. Site was unplowed but luckily I have a 4x4 truck and was able to pull in. We called the site number and after being transferred around talked to someone from “Cabin Butler” (she was very nice) and she said to look for a key in the mailbox. Again, there was two feet of snow and no walkway. I walked through the snow but there was no key for our reservation. Again, nobody on site at all to help and the facility was completely dark. The nice lady on the phone with me from Cabin Butler apologized to us and said she would cancel our reservation and we would not be charged.
- Darryl (2/5): - I had a situation where I couldn’t keep my trip going until tomorrow and I couldn’t change the days. I lost out on my reservation fee and won’t be using this service again
- Steven (6/5): - The snow turned the area into a winter wonderland!
- Dominick (10/5): - The room was clean and nice! Also, easy to find! Parking was a little tight due to hunting season but was a good time, I would stay again.
- Gregory (10/5): - Easy checkin, comfortable bed and clean rooms. It had a rustic exterior consistent with the lodge theme. It was a nice stay, and it was well-explained how the checkin and checkout process worked.
- Ron (10/5): Great Stay at Tal Wi Wi - Clean, Nice bathtub. Comfortable room/beds. Heater worked (needed for cold weather there!)
- Amy (10/5): - The setting and view is beautiful! Listened to the elk whistling and the lovely peace and quiet. We'll definitely go again!
- David (8/5): - Basic and clean place in Alpine. To bad the restaurant was not open.
- Vivian (10/5): - It was a beautiful place to be and the room was beautiful!
- Fred (4/5): - The workout amenities were not available the restaurant is not available there was not a lot there that we were hoping was there to work out rooms and stuff
- Janet (8/5): - We were in a cabin that hasnt been re-modeled yet, o uh r next stay at Tal Wi Wi will be more updated.
- Kay Ann (10/5): - Beautiful site I. The mountains/woods while still close to dining etc.
- Steven (4/5): disappointed - what a mess this place has really gone down hill. will not return.
- Verified traveler (2/5): FALLING APART - The porch was rickety and falling apart. The room was uneven and sloped down as you walked from the bed to the bathroom. The back wall was falling off. The deck for gathering had all broken furniture on it. The tub was filthy. The web site said wifi - the wifi did not work no matter how hard we tried to connect to it. Loose dogs running on the property and jumped on us. Motorcycles revving early in the morning outside our door. The front door was broke and bees were coming through the opening since the door wasn't sitting in the door frame properly. No one in the office or restaurant to help. No A/C or fan in the heat of the summer.
- Cheryl (2/5): Foundation sinking, decrepit & filthy - The lodge is falling apart. It was absolutely filthy. Front door not secure. Light visibly coming through the door allowing insects easy access.
- Laura (8/5): Beautiful rustic lodge - It is beautiful there and I love the mountains. The room was clean and comfortable. The rooms were not ready since they were short handed but they called in help from over the mountain and got it taken care of. Very friendly. Would love to go back.
- Mark (4/5): - The best thing that could do for that hotel is to sell it and get a real manager in there
- Tommy (10/5): - Great property and rooms. There were no staff on site and the restaurant and bar were closed down. It's only 3.5 miles to town, but on a motorcycle in the rain can be a pain. Over all great week up in the pines!
- Megan (8/5): - I love their property, it's beautiful. The rooms are outdated but clean.
- Evonne (10/5): - A nice cozy room. Very clean. AC would not cool. Luckily this area, the weather is good and didn't need it, plus there was a nice big ceiling fan. Also, adjacent Saloon was not open on a Saturday night. Overall we would definitely come back
- Sara (6/5): - First off let me say this. It tool an extra 4 hra before we could get into our room, their house keeping staff quit. The cabin butlers manager's parents cleaned the rooms. There is no staff on site.
- Paul (8/5): - There was no one.there in office. Had to get key from mail box. Beds were hard for wife. Oht side trash.was overflowed. Triping hassards on porch. Coffee pot did not work . Other ten those things i wou stay there again. The room was clean. The view was great. Close to town. Quite And yes i would stay there.
- Roxanne (6/5): - Beautiful landscape. Room was very old, outdated and smelled like body odor. No staff on hand to check in or out.
- Mitchell (4/5): so so experience such a bummer - the cabin was out of date and had an old 80s comforter on the bed.
the windows didnt have screens so when we opened the windows to get some air flow we ended up with bugs in the room.
the bathroom was less then desirable dirty mirror and air in the water line of the sink and shower.
i tried to contact management about payment and got calls back from some 3rd party company that couldn't give me any answers. One person called me and wanted payment info again obviously they had it because i was charged on my cc for the stay.....WE DID NOT STAY OUR 3RD NIGHT.
- roy (6/5): - Beautiful area building A where we stayed was remodeled and very nice. The other two buildings were a little run down. Contrary to their website the restaurant and work out room have been closed for a very long time. There’s basically no staff. It’s self check in. Two people clean in the afternoon.
- Emerald (2/5): - Unfortunately, I cannot think of anything nice to say about this property besides the fact that it is located in a beautiful area.
- Pressly (10/5): - Quiet and peaceful!
- Lena (10/5): - It was very comfortable and very clean
- Michel (6/5): - The Satellite did not work so no TV. 1970s decor but clean.
- Peter (10/5): - Great "cabin" experience in beautiful setting.
- Cynthia (8/5): ALPINE RETREAT - Nicer amenities than anticipated. Loved the 5 foot long tub! Walk in shower. Historic coffee stains and ripped carpet reduced our enthusiasm. Very quiet. Considerate guests nearby.
- Michael (8/5): - We had everything we needed. Noticed the tv didn’t connect to directtv though. And no wash clothes. Will definitely be staying here again. And recommending it to friends and family. Not sure if it was a bobcat or a lynx on the property. Amazing scenery.
- Holly (8/5): - Beautiful and cozy location but mostly closed for the season with no staff available at arrival despite arriving just before office hours ended, and no dining option. Some wear and tear inside room but overall had a good and restful experience.
- Kaye (6/5): - We arrived to check in around 3:45PM on a Wednesday to find that the restaurant/bar onsite was closed, office was closed, our room keys were in a couple of envelopes in a late check in box. Turns out we were the only 2 humans there. No staff, no other rooms occupied. No cars, nothing. As we were 2 guys traveling on motorcycles, we had chosen Tal WiWi because of the onsite restaurant/bar specifically so after dinner and a cocktail we wouldn't have to get back on the bikes in the dark and 34* and ride back to the hotel. Which is exactly what we ended up doing. Plus there was no breakfast option in the nearby town of Alpine so we went hungry in the morning for about a hundred miles. Very poor communication of this from the motel to Expedia and on to us. In this case we would have been better served had I called the motel directly by phone to book. At least then we would have known that everything there was closed.
The rooms themselves were very nice. Other than the carpet which was way past due for replacement, the room was clean, great big shower, good towels/supplies, good WIFI and direct TV, microwave and frig, and an awesome fireplace. Pretty spooky being the only ones there though, place is located off the main road in a dark area.
My riding buddy had an issue with the heat and fireplace in his room, and called a phone number and someone did end up coming out to the motel and changing him to another room around 9PM.
- Donald (10/5): - Beautiful setting. Attractive room decor and very clean and quiet.
- Steve (8/5): - More coffee and better pillows. Overall it was pretty nice
- Timothy (2/5): Stay far far away - I arrived to check in and no one was there. Had to call a main number to even get someone to take care of me. Found out the restaurant and bar that is pictured in their web sire closed 4 years ago!! Nothing was available. I ended up going to another of thei property
- Mark (10/5): Motorcycling buddies stay at Tal WiWi Lodge! - We got in late and they had keys for us in a Mail Box. Lights and heater were on in the rooms. Really COZY!
- Marie (8/5): Very clean & warm - I was very appreciative of the cleanliness and warmth of the hotel room. It was very clean! And the heater worked very well. If you need a room to sleep that is safe, warm and clean, this is your place! If you’re looking for frills and amenities, this is not your place. The ice chest was broken so there was no ice, there were no working vending machines, and the restaurant was closed. So you definitely need to be prepared and bring things with you. It’s a beautiful area, and easy to get to. The one thing I think they could’ve done better is to let you know ahead of time that the office closes at five and then let you know where to find your keys. We had to look at different buildings until we finally found the sign on the door that led us to where our keys were.
Before we found the sign on the door, we called the hotel but all the woman said on the other line was “no worries“ and then there was dead air, not sure if the answering service put me on hold or what. Then I found the sign so I hung up. It wasn’t until the next afternoon that I got a callback with a woman trying to help me find my keys! Very strange.
Again, what we really needed for our stay was a warm clean place and that is what we got! 🙂
