Guest Reviews
- Martin (3/5): Nice place to eat & drink. If you are allocated room 5 ask for another - Helpful and attentive staff Noisy chiller unit outside my hotel room window kept me awake all night.
- Eric (9/5): Nice Hotel & Evening Meal - Quiet hotel with a comfortable bed and nice, friendly staff.
Dinner in the evening was lovely. The emergency light in the room emitted a bright green light, which wouldn’t suit people that like a dark room.
Breakfast was nice, but seemed a bit disorganised. There weren’t enough glasses for fruit juice, or cups for tea/coffee at one stage, despite the small number of guests.
- Keith (8/5): -
- Bogdan (7/5): - Staff was very nice, helpful Cobwebs around corners, windows in not a good shape, wind blowing through (assume outside windows very old due to being a historic building) but 2nd row of windows inside not great
- Stephanie (10/5): Great stay at The Vernon - Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. Food is delicious and the room was so cosy Nothing
- DAVID (8/5): Fantastic staff, attentive and good humoured - Quality refurbishment yet still managed to keep the original beams, bedroom upto current standards
Magnificent breakfast Dinner menu whilst solid and homely needs the occasional signature dish
- Simon (8/5): -
- Tomasz (10/5): - I had to leave earlier before breakfast, so the staff prepared me a bag of breakfast for take away!
Met the owner too, and also allow me to warm up my own food.
Big, clean and free car park 👌
- christine (10/5): - Wonderful stay at The Vernon, friendly, knowledgeable staff , warm welcome from Annie on arrival, loved the history of the building & how it's been lovingly restored into a vibrant place to drink, eat & stay. The rooms are very comfortable, the food on offer was delicious, fabulous breakfast & evening meals . Thank you
- Rosalind (10/5): - Quiet county area. Easy access to main roads.

- Jake (10/5): - Very friendly staff, who were keen to help even though they were busy. Excellent breakfast, with another lovely member of staff. She even arranged some scrambled egg and toast for our baby!
- Jackie (9/5): Overnight stay - Comfy stay. Lovely staff and excellent breakfast
- graeme (10/5): -
- fraser (10/5): Fabulous little place - The staff were absolutely brilliant. Many thanks to Josh, Kim and the lovely lady who sets up the breakfast and lots of other stuff It's a little out in the sticks but not an issue for me.
- Mark (9/5): - Great Staff, Bar and Food
A nice place to stay for a fair price 😎👍 Room was very hot with no heating on at all. There was a lot of noise from kitchen extractors however this got shut down around 9:30ish so all quiet after that
- Dave (8/5): Handy stopover with good food in the bar. - Interesting mix of modern gastro pub with modern rooms in a quirky old coaching inn building.
Excellent evening meal in the Bar - Best steak pie in a longtime Been a very old property the floor in the bedroom was very uneven and the sound proofing a bit poor- but fine for a short stopover
- Daniel (10/5): The Vernon is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in and I have been travelling around the country for 30 plus yea - Absolutely everything beautiful building and surroundings Loved everything
- Robert (10/5): Lovely place to stay and staff were all superb - Great facility , bar was cozy , restaurant was great .
Both staffed with really friendly waiters / waitresses.
Food was great too The morning chef had left , so could only get a continental breakfast.
It was fine though
- Richard (9/5): Great value place to stay - Good location, nice place. Really friendly staff and great breakfast Not much to moan about but it looked a lot tired in places
- Eric (10/5): A great stay - Breakfast was excellent. Was goodvalue Nothing
- Anne (7/5): Impersonal welcome, not made to feel at home and found myself asking about facilities rather than being told. - Modern colourful public spaces Tired room - carpet and sanitary ware
- David (10/5): A good place to stay with parking and restaurant. - The breakfast was exceptional. The service was exceptional too. We feel we can’t criticise anything about the Vernon.
- David (9/5): Felt very welcoming and homelike - The whole atmosphere of the place. Whoever is in charge of staff training is doing an excellent job. They were very accommodating It would be unfair to pinpoint anything specific
- BERNADETTE (10/5): walking in the Clent and Lickey hills. - The large spacious bedroom with an amazing bath ( much needed after a day walking). The whole establishment was tastefully decorated and wonderfully refurbished.
The food choice in the restaurant was very good and the food was excellent. Breakfast was very large and enjoyable.
The cost of a stay was very good considering a lot of properties charging way over the odds for sub-standard accommodation.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Couldn't fault the place.
- tony (10/5): -
- Annette (8/5): -
- Melvyn (9/5): Premises very good as was the staff - Breakfast was very good. Lots of choice
- Andrew (6/5): Good staff but hot room. - Very friendly & helpful staff.
Easy parking on site
Good food Room was very hot and overlooked a outside aircon unit so was loud if the window was opened.
They provided a fan, but didn't make much difference.
- Eva (10/5): We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend The Veron without hesitation. - Our stay was very enjoyable. Our room was quiet, comfortable and very clean. The staff were very friendly and professional and the hotel is very well presented.
- Paul (10/5): Nice place - The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good quality but the best thing was the excellent staff who were far nicer than most places I have stayed. I hope their boss appreciates them. Nothing
- Dube (10/5): - Really appreciate everything about the place
Food,friendly staff and ambience
Looking forward to book again.
We had a good time
Dinner and breakfast was on a 100%
Thanks once again. Rooms a small and we couldn't get out in the morning since the door was locked downstairs
We had to wait for 20mins for someone to unlock the door for us.
It was all good in the end still.
- Debra (6/5): Disappointing Cleanliness 🙁 - The staff were friendly, the twin beds were comfy, the bathroom had a large shower, the bedding and towels were clean. The room was grubby. Tea and coffee area stained and dirty, TV remote grubby and dirty, window sills dirty (not just dusty), toilet brush dirty with hairs, loo seat dirty, carpet covered in bits and not hoovered and bathroom floor in need of a good clean.
What could have been a pleasant stay in a reasonably appointed room was let down by poor attention to detail when cleaned leaving areas which were really dirty and very off putting.
Spoke to staff member at premises rather than leaving negative feedback (as was requested on arrival) and had no apology or explanation and heard nothing back after.
Emailed also with pics and heard nothing back.
Wouldn't normally leave a negative review but really poor cleanliness and no response to communication.
- Emma (10/5): -
- Andy (9/5): - A nice cooked breckfast at7.30 in the morning was lovely.
Everything was good in the room
If that way again will stay there
- Steven (10/5): Warm, Friendly, Inviting. Nothing too much trouble. - The staff are it reall asset. Very friendly and helpful.
The absolute bonus was that it was warm! So many hotels won't turn on the heating. This one looks after its guests. There was nothing to fault. It was just absolutely lovely. Will be staying again when work takes me to Worcestershire.
- M4RKT (9/5): -
- stephanie (10/5): Lovely place to stay - Lovely pub with friendly helpful staff. Room was comfortable, well appointed and clean. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. We also ate there in the evening and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Would recommend! Nothing
- Owen AISTON (10/5): Excellent hotel with the room and restaurant of a very high standard.i - Excellent hotel in a very good location for an overnight stay en route to Wales from Newcastle. The room was of a very high standard and breakfast was exceptional. All was fine
- Tim (9/5): - Very friendly staff and welcoming Breakfast sausage was on the turn . And wifi was a pain to at the start

- Neil (9/5): Brilliant stay thanks - Great breakfast , pub food good , nice and quiet room Nothing
- Simon (7/5): - Very friendly, welcoming staff Mattress was far too soft and not comfortable.
Bedroom was also near to loud extraction fan/heat outlet...think it was from kitchen.
Asked staff if this would be on all night and they said no. Unfortunately it did stay on all night so a poor night's sleep
- John (9/5): -
- Peter (10/5): Great. Would stay again if in the area. - Such helpful staff. Good food.
- Jackson (10/5): -
- McDonald (9/5): My stay was very enjoyable would 100% consider return when next in the area - breakfast was very good the staff were all extremely friendly and helpful going out their way to help, outside area was lovely too. my only draw back was the internet connection was poor in the evening however the staff were super helpful trying to reboot.
- Clive (10/5): - Very helpful staff. Great food
- Cian (9/5): - Comfortable room big bathroom great breakfast happy helpful staff Diversion!
- Barbara (8/5): Very enjoyable, staff are brilliant and friendly - Beautiful building well decorated and well kept, staff are lovel Did not think the food, breakfast or the meal we had in the evening was up to the standard of everything else.
- Alison (8/5): Comfortable overnight stay - would stay again when visiting relatives. - Room was clean and comfortable. Shower good. Location quiet and peaceful. Staff contacted me in advance to let us know that the kitchen was out of action the evening of our arrival, so we were able to eat elsewhere. Cooked gluten-free breakfast made by stand-in chef was very good. Even though I had requested a gluten free breakfast, there was no gluten free bread or cereal available at breakfast time. (However, the visiting chef made a lovely gluten free cooked breakfast, and there was fruit available).
- Marjorie (6/5): Adequate for cost and a one night stay. - Friendly and helpful staff. Nice dinner in the evening. Room was clean and bed comfortable. Room was very small, no space to put our suitcase - it ended up in the wardrobe! Couldn't access the WiFi during our stay.
Breakfast was average - didn't like tomatoes out of a tin and sausages could have been better.
- Mary (10/5): We had a really nice break have never known such friendly and helpful staff. Nothing was too much t - The breakfast was excellent ordered the day before and arrived at our table @ 9 O’clock as requested Nothing
- Rachel (1/5): -
- Cath (3/5): Has potential to be a great hotel but not quite there yet - Attractive looking building, room very comfortable. Staff very friendly and welcoming, food was tasty. The WiFi didn’t work which was an issue as I needed to catch up on emails. It took 45 mins to get a burger. The bathroom floor needed cleaning. Shower super hot and wouldn’t adjust.
- rob (10/5): - Only a single bed but spacious and very clean. Bed very comfortable. The lady who served breakfast was super friendly and helpful.
- Dr Malcolm Day (10/5): Exceptional - Superb breakfast. Comfortable and clean room. Exceptional customer service.
- Vernon (8/5): - The room was comfortable, with a huge bathroom. The breakfast was fantastic, making the stay unbeatable value.
- Waring (10/5): - The owner , his staff were very helpful, friendly and very kind.
The food was delicious, well worth the money Nothing it was all lovely
- Michael (9/5): -
- Simon (9/5): Very comfortable stay at a great price - From the outset, the staff were very friendly. The cleanliness of the room and the pub in general was extremely good. We booked a smaller room, but it was quite acceptable for the one night we were there, and next time we'd book one of the other , larger rooms (we were given a sneel peek at one). The food was good and the breakfast freshly cooked by the owner.
We will definitely stay again, it being a useful stop off point between family and a good base for exploring the area.
p.s. Look out for the "elephant in the room".....!! A lovely touch Nothing I can think of.
- Linda (10/5): -
- Petra (8/5): -
- Justin (10/5): Overall, very nice place to stay - Clean, Spacious. Staff was very good and helpful. shower head not attachment to the wall, no shower curtains. Water wasn’t hot. Wi-Fi was non-existent.
- Monica (9/5): - .
- Rory (8/5): -
- Charlotte (9/5): - Staff were really attentive.
Bedroom was lovely.
Great selection of breakfast foods. The body wash bottle was empty in the bathroom. Room 3.
No drinking cups in bedroom for water, only small mugs.
- Mandi (9/5): Had a brilliant stay, booked again for next year. - - The room was lovely and comfortable. The Staff were brilliant, very welcoming. The Food was excellent. We have already booked again for next year.
- Martyn (8/5): Thoroughly enjoyable - First and foremost the staff were so friendly and helpful. My room had everything you would expect with an excellent on suite. The breakfast was first class served with a smile by the excellent chef. Having not stayed there before It was a little further away from Droitwich than I thought but not a problem if you have transport. The residence itself very good indeed.
- allyson (10/5): -
- Neil (10/5): One night stay - The room was very clean, beds comfortable bathroom very clean. Towels provided. Tea and coffee making facilities.
Staff were all pleasant and very helpful. Owner cooked an excellent breakfast. Nothing to dislike
- Julie (10/5): Lovely one night stay - Great breakfast, friendly staff and lovely furnishings. Water wasn't over hot in shower but not a problem as weather was warm. Shower screen did not tie in with how well furnished the bedroom was.
- MICHAEL (10/5): -
- Christine (9/5): Very comfortable hotel but not close to major roads. - Very comfortable room and excellent breakfast. We arrived quite late in the evening and on checking in they asked if we would like a meal and would organise one for us if needed. No marmalade at breakfast!
- Debbie (10/5): - Lovely welcome...nice room...comfortable night in a very clean room...tasty breakfast...really enjoyed our stay..xx Nothing....it was all great xx
- kwp250251 (8/5): overall good and I would go back but perhaps eat eleswher - It was a very good location, the breakfast was very good but the evening meal was below average. The evening meal was not cheap but very much below standard, the staff and service was good but my wife's steak was very tough and my large fish and chips was so over cooked that I could not cut through it, when I complained they offered to replace it but I said no thanks as the rest of us had finished. The chief said he had to cook it longer as it was a big fish but to my mind any size fish should be cooked until the batter is light and crisp. They did not charge me for my meal.
- Richard (10/5): -
- Kyriakos (10/5): -
- Sharon (8/5): Absolutely loved it and the lady at breakfast couldn’t have been more helpful. - Loved everything about the property Just the floor in the bathroom could have been a little cleaner around the shower

- clive (10/5): Great place, staff, food and room, all good. - Great place, setting, parking, food and staff, 2nd time here and will stay there again. The vernon has everything i need, good food, parking, staff and a good shower and a comfortable bed with a choice of pillows, Hawkstone cider is a bonus.
- Katie (7/5): - Staff were very helpful and polite. Very accommodating indeed
Room was clean, tidy and nicely decorated
Beautiful old pub
Food was cooked to order - breakfast looked lovely, Pillows were a bit hard....... but thats my preference :)
- Andrew (9/5): Very enjoyable, the friendly staff were a big factor. - Nice pub. Bedroom (4) was quirky, the floor of the shower room sloped downwards from the door.
- Mick (8/5): -
- LC (10/5): Fabulous! - Fabulous staff! Lovely environment, excellent service, very comfortable. Nothing.
