We really love the area attached to the cafe that serves complimentary coffee and tea - also a microwave and utensils available for use in the same area. It’s nice to have the option to bring your own food to heat up. Views of the river are incredible. Staff is great too.

- Kevin (6/5): - Check in was difficult because the office staff forgot to send us an email about late check in instructions. The room was ok. The vanity was loose and hanging from the wall. Caulking in the bath was falling apart. The deadbolt throw was missing. The only redeeming quality of the property was the river view. We were glad we weren’t staying more than a night.

- Bonnie (6/5): - Convenient location to access to monument valley. Restaurant food and service good. Parking spaces tight and a a result I had an incident. Manager was initially helpful but when additional information was needed was a bit surly.
- Gary (10/5): - This was bit of an unexpected gem. The location is spectular on the rim of the San Juan River canyon. The rooms all have balconies that overlook the river and are a great place to sit and relax. The room we had was recently remodeled and was in great shape and good sized. The only warning to anyone is a limitation of Mexican Hat. There are only two restaurants in town. One is connected to this hotel and had decent food. Do not know what the other was like. The hotel's restaurant is the only real option for breakfast but be warned they aren't open for breakfast on Mondays.

Our room was old, we had to ask for hand soap as there was none in the room. We were on the second floor and when people walked by there was a bit of a shake in our room. TV or cable wasn't fully functional.

Several holes in the wall in shower/toilet room. Not much else around, so..... Restaurant was OK, coffee provided down in restaurant, ice available.

It is an older property that has been brought up to modern standards as well as possible. Our room was large, a happy surprise. They have made delightful places for people to sit outside, both under cover and under the stars.

Had a bit of trouble finding our room- there’s a strange numbering system where it goes from 12 to 41, for example. A map would be great. Right by the river, so very pleasant. Cafe staff were very friendly and helpful.

- Gary (6/5): - Overall, our stay was good, great locations to access the local trails and sites. Was disappointed there was no microwave in the room, but the front desk said there was one we could use in the "hospitality section" in the restaurant. However, when we tried to use it, the guy working there kicked us out and said we must order something from the restaurant to even sit there. All we wanted to do is warm up some food, but was not having it. On the way out, we ran into some guys who just wanted to have a beer, but the same restaurant worker (manager) told them they couldn't order any drinks without ordering food. We ate at this restaurant our first night and it was pitifully inadequate to resemble qualify food. Would not recommend eating there, but with such limited options, they obviously don't seem to care if they do or don't take pride in their offerings. However, as far as the lodging goes, the beds were too soft if you have back issues. No housekeeping, towel service, or property amenities. Staff was pleasant enough, but nothing that would standout. Location is what you're getting here. Why they can't seem to find a way to put a $45 microwave in the the rooms is beyond any reasonable excuse for a modern lodging facility.

A beautiful sunset view, cold drinks and food on site. Very friendly staff! Hotel is very clean. A little aged, but we loved it.

- Yoshinori (4/5): - It seems like very old property. Door said Autolock but it wont close well...people/guests were very loud, mostly Bikers, and smoking. No elevators, hard to bring a big suitcase especially traveling woth elders really hard. AC/Heater was NOT working, so as the fridge. Bed disnt have comforter, flat sheets and thin blanket, couldnt sleep. The one and only restaurant was very busy, there's no option to eat elsewhere, and waiting time was 45 min after we seated to get a glass of water..too shame, the location is AMAZING!!!

Having a coffee maker with no coffee or filters is just cruel!

But the manager/owner honored the reservation and greeted us warmly. Great place, cannot wait to go back next year!

- Markus (8/5): - There are not a lot of options in Mexican Hat so this was our only choice. I think it's pricy for what it offers but you pay for the location close to Monument Valley. The food at the diner was good. The room was clean although it showed its age. Best thing was the view onto the river in the evening.

- Travis (8/5): - This was a good and interesting stay. The location was very nice and picturesque. We couldn’t find anybody to check us in for about 10 minutes, the lobby was deserted. The floor plan was a little odd, with the bathroom having no sink and the only sink being located behind the bedroom door. You also had to pass through bedroom 2 to even reach the bathroom. Being located right on the river was great and we made use of the beautiful proximity to the river. All the workers we interacted with were very nice. The parking lot is awkward and has tight squeezes and tight parking.

- Kurt (8/5): - Beautiful location. Dining staff were lovely. The young girls checking us in didn’t seem to know much but still nice. Room was comfortable and clean. Very convenient location for use tripping through.
- James (10/5): - Beautiful property, very accommodating staff, the shower was excellent. The room(s) were comfortable but some updating is needed. An excellent gift shop and friendly personnel all around BUT the food at the restaurant was so bland it was awful. We tried everything (I even tossed in some Tabasco) but nada. Plan where to eat in advance.
