- ANDREAS (10/5): My stay at Debbie & Paul's bed & breakfast made my holiday perfect. - Everything about this Bed & Breakfast was beyond expectations and rates in my top 10 of the best stays anywhere in the world during my more than 50 years as a very frequent international traveller. It was clear that Debbie & Paul had put a huge amount of effort into every aspect of their business. So much attention was given to assuring their guests were well looked after. I cannot think of a single improvement!
- Sam (10/5): -
- James (10/5): Excellent experience. Breakfast was perfect. Debbie went above and beyond to help with travel. -

Honestly could not fault it. Would recommend to absolutely anyone. Nothing.

- Katie (10/5): Great B&B in a great location! - Great location for exploring Keswick and the surrounding area. Clean and comfortable room. Relaxed atmosphere.
- Mark (9/5): Very friendly and comfortable stay - Very friendly owners. Excellent breakfast selection and they will make a small lunch pack up on request. Bathroom and single bedroom were very clean and large selection of maps and routes available in the living room downstairs. 15 min walk (on path through field) to centre of Keswick, however it isn't lit, and will take longer if you follow the main roads. Parking is available is available behind building (but might be tight access for larger vehicles, so you may have to park out front). Bus Stop (to Buttermere etc.) about 30m away and doesn't directly pass the B&B. Shared bathroom for single room (Rm 7) is on another floor (but luckily I had bathroom to myself).
Is on a main road in Portinscale, so expect some traffic noise between normal working hours.
- Andrea (10/5): My stay felt like home from home given the excellent reception I was given. - The breakfast was exceptional. The host was very accommodating and helpful. The room had a fantastic view and was like home from home. I can't fault this accomodation. No issues at all. I can't fault this accomodation.

I travel alot for my job, staying in high end hotels all over the country. I can safely say, its been a very long time since ive had such a perfect trip. The accomodation and service beats them by miles.
Immaculate clean, warm and cosy. Comfy bed and excellent shower! Extensive breakfast choice which is all beautifully cooked.
And your host Debbie cant help enough. She is a superstar! Super attentive and helpful to anything you need and happy to answer any questions. Her lounge also has a brilliant array of books, leaflets and maps to plan your adventure.
What a fantastic base to explore the fells and lakes. 20 min walk into keswick. And free parking at the back of the property. Ill be staying here again and recommending to fam and friends. Nothing. Absolutely nothing.
- Colleen (9/5): - Very friendly Nothing
- brian (10/5): -
- sharon (9/5): Perfect hosts, perfect stay and perfect location-we will be back - Skiddaw Croft was in a prefect location-close to Keswick. It was a quite location with a great pub just down the lane.Good for food and drink.
Skiddaw Croft was very welcoming with fantastic options for breakfast.
The bed was very comfortable and we slept really well. The only minor point was the shower-a little tight but great hot water and everything you would need. And it was ensuite, so no sharing.
- luke (10/5): - The breakfast was spot on,the room was clean, and the view was fantastic. Staff were very friendly and always smiling
- Hall (10/5): Absolutely perfect in every way!! - Everything was absolutely amazing!!! The room was spotless with a fantastic beverage tray, bottled water left everyday, even sweets in a jar!! The bed and bedding were so comfortable we didnt want to get up!🤣. The breakfast choices were fantastic and cooked to perfection. Debbie and Paul couldn't do enough for us. When Debbie realised it was our anniversary she placed a card and gifts on our breakfast table! The B & B itself was immaculate throughout with lots of little extras that made it home from home and more more like a boutique hotel!!! The location was perfect, just a mile walk into Keswick through a rural setting. Overall the best bed and breakfast we've ever stayed in and will definitely be returning!!! Thankyou so much for making our stay outstanding!! Nothing!!
- Laura (10/5): - We had the most wonderful stay and Skiddaw Croft and would definitely stay here again. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. - Janelle (10/5): This was a cute, comfortable, relaxing place to stay with a great location and outstanding hosts! - I expected to enjoy my stay in the Lake District, but I didn't expect to be able to see Cat Bells (which I planned to hike up) from my room. Breakfast also exceeded my expectations, with a variety to order and excellent quality. Most importantly, Debbie and Paul helped me out when I got a flat, spending a lot of time sorting it while I walked up to a local place for scones :) It all exceeded my expectations!
- Alison (10/5): A Fabulous short stay in a lovely quieter part of the Lakes. - A lovely well positioned b&b. A good base for walking in the Lakes.
Debbie was lovely and welcoming. My room had everything I needed and a fabulous view. Breakfast was excellent with a very varied choice. I can highly recommend Skiddaw Croft.
- Audrey (10/5): Highly Recommended - A lovely peaceful location, an easy walk from Keswick, the Skiddaw Croft was an excellent base. Our room was nicely furnished with quality bedding and the largest bath towel I have ever seen! Everything needed for a comfortable stay was provided and the owner was extremely helpful. Breakfast was very good, with a selection of cereals and fresh fruit, followed by a cooked breakfast of your choice using quality ingredients. Home made jams and marmalades were provided. Highly recommended. Everything exceeded our expectations.

- Ganave (10/5): Exceptional Stay with Warm Hospitality and Stunning Views! - I stayed at Skiddaw Croft Bed & Breakfast for 2 nights. This guest house was simply exceptional value and quality! The special highlight of the stay must be the staff. I can't recollect her name but I think it was Debby. She was very helpful and her warm hospitality certainly left a strong impression! The room I stayed in was a Single bed room on the 2nd floor. This was a nice little cozy room with a breathtaking view of Derwent Water. The room had all the essential amenities for a perfect stay and I didn't ever have to bother to ask anything. I had a small little fresh milk bottle which wasn't expected at all. I certainly know a lot of places that would charge a lot higher skip on essential Tea, coffee amenities in the room but such small things do make a very comfortable stay. The English Breakfast was delicious with all the food items as expected and the quality of the fruits was simply brilliant. I was highly impressed with my stay at Skiddaw Croft B&B. If I travel back to the Lake district again this is the only place I will choose to come back and stay! Simply very happy! Nothing to write here!
- Philip (10/5): Exceeded expectation, just the right balance of being close to Keswick but not too close . - Excellent breakfast and attentive host who could not be more helpful. Nothing.
- Ed (10/5): Exceptional - Everything room was cozy bed was very comfortable Couldn't find anything I didn't like
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sasha (10/5): Exceptional - Had an absolutely splendid time here. Debbie, the owner, was lovely and very accommodating. Was given a room upgrade with an absolutely stunning view as I came midweek and really appreciated. Breakfast was delicious and used locally sourced, fresh ingredients where possible. Clearly lots of care put into running this place. Excellently located for lots of walks in the North Lakes. I hope to return some day.
- Andrew (10/5): A hidden gem - A superb property located in a great location for local walks and keswick itself. The property was maintained to a very high standard with loads of great touches such as the electronic info board in the hallway. N/A
- Shane (8/5): Definitely would recommend but be mindful of our small the shower is. - Loved this room Ensuite bathroom was very very small.
- Ian (10/5): Ian and Ang short break - The room was excellent with outstanding views. The food was delicious with plenty of choice
- Matthieublande (10/5): Exceptional - the breakfast !
- Christine (10/5): Exceptional - Gorgeous breakfast.
Lovely house and great location
- Daniel (10/5): A wonderful stay, with exceptional hosts - I would recommend this B&B to anyone (and have done!) - Comfortable, clean and the hosts were amazingly accommodating and friendly N/A
- Stephanie (9/5): We had a lovely stay, and will definitely recommend to friends! - Location was great - we loved being just outside Keswick in a more tranquil place.
The breakfast was lovely and our host couldn't have been more helpful. There were so many extra little touches that made our stay more comfortable - like wine glasses in the room, fresh milk, a fan when it was hot, and even a protective case for my hair straighteners! We were right at the top of the house which was south facing and very hot during our stay, but I'm sure in colder weather we might have appreciated that! The shower was very small - fine for us as we're both quite slim but a bigger person might have struggled!
- Alex (10/5): Exceeded expectations, very good - Great staff, very helpful and accommodating. Room was very comfortable and well stocked with hot drinks, biscuits and mints. Breakfast was very nice with plenty of variety. Will be staying again next time 😁
- Erin (10/5): Fabulous place even better accommodation - Debbie was fabulous! My stay at Skiddaw Croft was absolutely delightful. Not only was the breakfast delicious, the views beautiful and the area quiet, the accommodation itself was clean , tidy and felt like home.
- Molly (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely property in a perfect location. The room was spotless and cozy and the hosts were extremely welcoming. Breakfast was also delicious. Will definitely be retuning!
- Charles (10/5): A relaxing, beautiful stay; walks all around and in to Keswick are easy and away from traffic. - A warm and friendly reception at this beautiful location. Spotlessly clean and the breakfasts were consistently wonderful. The parking is naturally demanding in this vintage Lake District location; not too daunting, but just be aware that large vehicles might find access a challenge. I believe parking on the street is also fine if available.
- Eva (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful, cozy accommodation, situated in a picturesque location. Our host was lovely, she made us really delicious breakfasts and did her best to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We sincerely recommend this place.
- Mandy (10/5): Exceptional - Within walking distance of Keswick with parking on site made this a lovely B and B to stay in.The room had a great view and was clean and comfortable, the little details of live hearts on the bed were a lovely touch. The owners were extremely helpful and friendly and couldn't do enough for us.The breakfast was freshly cooked with an excellent variety of hot options, cereals and fresh fruit..all was cooked to perfection. The best hotel breakfast we have had in a long time A really enjoyable stay. 😁 Nothing negative to say...would definitely stay again if we were in the area.
- Marjorie (10/5): Perfect for my needs and a lovely welcoming place to stay. Thank you Debbie and Paul. - Plenty of choice and well prepared breakfast. The location was good, and while not in Keswick itself, it was just a twenty minute walk along a lane and flat path through a field. Wonderful view from my top floor room. My room was a single with just a wash basin but the bathroom, which was shared with one other room, was on the floor below. Not a problem but the stairs may be a for some.
- Odete (10/5): Friendly relaxed stay with so many little extras and a wealth of information to help you plan your s - Location is perfect for access to walks, a short easy walk into Keswick and a bus stop just opposite the B&B
Breakfast was great, good quality ingredients cooked to your liking Nothing
- Feng (10/5): I'm always recommend anyone to visit here! - Very kind landlady and delicious food!
- Lee (10/5): Grate place to stay clean grate breakfast host was grate will defo go back - Grate location Nothing
- Susan (10/5): New years solo trip - Beautiful cosy b&b with beautiful views, parking and lovely finishing touches in the room. Dressing gown and slippers provided along with tea, coffee, milk, water etc and topped up if required. Breakfast was amazing. Lots of choice and my favourite of yoghurt with fresh fruit, poached eggs with adacado on sourdough. Quantity and quality to perfection. The bed was lovely and comfortable too with a cosy blanket. Thank you so much for making my solo new years trip amazing. The bathroom was along the corridor and down a flight of stairs but it was easily manageable.
- Brenda (10/5): just what we said above, a really welcoming stay in a lovely B&B, just not long enough. - excellent breakfast, owner and staff really great, made us so welcome. views were amazing binoculars were a bonus. we felt so comfortable and relaxed during our stay. nothing as far as we were concerned, so much so, that we will return.

- Madeleine (9/5): Overall, this is a well-managed guesthouse in a lovely location, about 15 minutes walk from Keswick. - The location was great for climbing Skiddaw, and there was a warm welcome. A firmer mattress would have been nice, along with the option to have breakfast earlier than 8.30.

- Alfréd (10/5): Excelent - Everything Nothing
- Alison (10/5): Exceptional - Fabulous hosts who really thought of everything to take our stay to the next level. From the phonecall to let us know our room was ready for early check-in, the friendly and helpful welcome and making up a grab and go breakfast to take to the spa, they really went above and beyond for us.
The room was modern and clean, with chairs in the bay window so we could have a drink looking out at the fabulous views of the lake and fells, and the binoculars provided were a lovely touch and meant we could see activity on the lake clearer.
The location is great; It’s a pleasant 15-20 minute walk into Keswick Centre or if you prefer a taxi is £5-£6 or there’s a bus-stop outside.
Breakfast was fabulous too. Nothing.
- Von (9/5): I'd definitely go back but not arriving on a Saturday in Keswick as it's mega busy - OMG I miss the shower it was the best
- Emma (9/5): Lovely little B&B in peaceful location with gorgeous views and great breakfast. - Perfect B&B, room was really smart with gorgeous views. Touches like fresh water bottles everyday was really nice. Breakfast was yummy with loads of different choices. Portinscale is an idyllic village, really quiet and peaceful with a pub and a couple of cafes, there's also the Lingholme Kitchen if you walk along the Lake path. Everything was lovely but to be uber picky the shower was a bit on the small side but hardly an issue for a few days stay. I couldn't quite make my mind up about the location. I preferred peaceful Portinscale to busy Keswick but I did find myself walking back and forth a lot due to there just being a lot more choice of places to eat etc, naturally! Obviously on a walking holiday you're walking anyway but I did wonder about the ease of staying somewhere with more amenities. Of course if you have come by car this isn't such an issue.
- Natalie (10/5): Great weekend stay, definitely staying again. - Location was great, short walk from keswick, lovely and quiet. Debbie was very welcoming, friendly and helpful with directions of getting around and when requested to borrow iron and ironing board it was no bother and even carried it up to our room on the 2nd floor. Breakfast was great, I loved eggs benedict and hubby had the full English breakfast which he loved. Nothing.
- Samuel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mckee (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christine (10/5): Fantastic property with friendly hosts who went the extra mile to make our stay special. - Lovely house, room very clean and comfortable with nice, thoughtful extra touches like bottled water by the bed and fresh milk in a fridge outside the room.
Gorgeous breakfast, lots of choice. Nothing
- Simon (9/5): Great location, price and host. - Handy location for Keswick, easy walk in to town and saves trying to park. Being there for business, during the week an earlier breakfast would be helpful some mornings.
- Darren (10/5): Gem of a Place - The location is great. Hostess Debbie is very friendly and helpful. The room was well equipped, spotless, and had great views of the Lake and Montains. Breakfasts were fantastic with plenty of options.
Would definitely recommend this place 👌 Nothing
- Charles (9/5): Superb -
