- Manoloatala (4/5): Kindness does not replace common sense - This hotel is the perfect example of how a beautiful location can hide a deeply mediocre operation. The place itself is stunning. Incredible jungle, beautiful ocean views, amazing natural setting. The staff is genuinely kind and polite. But kindness does not replace common sense, execution, communication, or service standards. Everything in this hotel is designed around what works for THEM, not for the guests. Nobody communicates proactively. Nobody anticipates problems. Nobody takes ownership. You have to ask for things multiple times before anything actually happens. There is zero sense of operational urgency or assertive hospitality. And the best example of this disaster: This hotel is extremely isolated. There are only 3 ways to get there: - Boat - Long and uncomfortable ground transportation - Helicopter During check-in, they explained all transportation options very clearly. What they somehow forgot to mention is that the boat transfer back to the city only has around 10 seats per day and sells out quickly. So the day before departure, when I asked to confirm the boat schedule, they casually informed me there were no spots left and the only option remaining was the awful ground transportation. At no point during check-in did anyone think to say: “Would you like us to reserve your return transfer now? Availability is very limited.” That is not a small mistake. That is a complete lack of service criteria and operational intelligence. Luxury hospitality is not about smiling and saying “of course.” It’s about anticipating problems before the guest has to discover them themselves. This hotel has the aesthetics of luxury, but not the mentality of luxury.

- roxnoroz (6/5): Disappointed and not worth the price - I was so excited for this hotel. I actually planned our trip to Colombia for our stay at las Islas. I looked at the website a we decided to splurge for my birthday. First let me start with the positive. The setting and staff at the hotel was wonderful. Micheal, oratio, ribalto, Olga and everyone else were so kind and warm. And the beach and setting is really beautiful and special. But other that, everything else about our experience was way below standard for a leading hotel esp for the price point of $750 usd a night. First, it was not explained well on the website that we were booking a room on an island that required a boat ride. I have a two year old son and the rides eps at night did not feel safe. But the issue was the communication. At no point the option to stay on the main property presented to us. The communication was very poor not only about the room and location but everything and the staff especially at reception didn’t seem to have the experience or authority to notice this and make changes. Other issues: the bed was not comfortable, food was hit or miss, Overall this property has a ton of potential but feels a big neglected on all levels and continues with a price point that does not match the level of service or luxury advertised.

El lugar es mágico, desplazarse por el sitio es fácil a pie o en las bicis que proporcionan, pero también se puede solicitar transporte en carritos de golf. El bar con la terraza son un highlight para ver el atardecer y tomar algo con una atención muy buena de su barman. Podría mejorar el menú y ser ampliado, especialmente el del almuerzo. Comimos el pargo frito (delicioso) y al horno de leña, que no cumplió las expectativas para el precio y lo prometido, le faltó sazón y un sabor mucho más potente. A los empleados (algunos) les falta entrenamiento para dar indicaciones, pues lo hacen con amabilidad pero dando por sentado que uno sabe lo que ellos ya tienen incorporado para llegar a ciertas partes. Seguramente con mejor señalización se soluciona.

- 492yura (2/5): Worst experience ever - Worst experience ever. This place is advertised as paradise, but the reality is very different. A local taxi driver warned us that the resort is located in one of the most dangerous areas of Barú. Guests should also be extremely careful with billing. We were charged for minibar items we never used and a private island fee we never stayed at. Food is very expensive and mediocre, but since the resort is isolated and Wi-Fi is limited, guests have no alternatives and are forced to rely on them. The rooms were dirty, full of mosquitoes and insects, and housekeeping was insufficient given the high prices. Raccoons touch the fruit displayed at the hotel entrance, with no warning signs. There are also no signs warning about jellyfish or stingrays in the water. I was badly stung by a jellyfish. Management downplayed the situation, and I was incorrectly treated for over an hour before finally being taken to the nurse, who explained that immediate cleaning was necessary. We no longer felt safe and wanted to leave, but no refund was possible for the next 2 nights since we wanted to leave that day. Overall, this resort is overpriced, poorly managed, unsafe, and misleadingly advertised. I would not recommend it. Do yourself a favor and go to Sofitel Barú, that place is heaven and cheaper!

- Ludivine (4/5): Fuyez et réservez sur l’autre hôtel de l’île ! - La plage est magnifique et la multitude d’animaux rend l’expérience inoubliable. Il est inapproprié d’appeler cet établissement « hôtel ». Pas d’électricité ni d’eau dans la journée (se rincer après l’eau de mer c’est pas mal quand même), pas de possibilité de manger en dehors des heures imposées, repas devant être commandés 2h avant, carte courte et service désastreux. Commandes prises de façon désordonnées, donc à moitié, 1h30 d’attente pour une pizza et serveuse agacée quand on lui fait remarquer. Les prix sur place ne sont pas particulièrement abordables (évidement puisqu’on est captif). L’établissement di indique une navette bateau pour venir, puis cette dernière ne passe pas, puis la personne de l’accueil dit qu’elle ne gère pas les navettes pour venir (pratique vu que c’est une île !!!)… pour la navette du retour c’est pire, on nous annonce un horaire, puis quand on se présente on nous dit que le bateau est passé 30 min plus tôt et que c’est de notre faute puisqu’on a pas réservé alors qu’il n’est indiqué nul part que c’est sur réservation. Le staff ne parle qu’espagnol, le manager est dépassé et au final les navettes de bateau nous ont coûté plus cher que la nuit d’hôtel ! Bref un tarif bas annoncé qui se retrouve x3 en fin de séjour. L’établissement se repose sur son emplacement et la présence d’animaux (que vous devez payer pour voir !) ne justifie pas ce service horrible !

Unfortunately, my experience has been soured by a billing error made at checkout that has gone unresolved. Despite multiple follow-up emails, management has not responded. It's frustrating that what was otherwise a great trip is ending on this note. Would hesitate to return until the post-stay customer service issue is addressed

Because we booked the Sea Level Bungalow with private pool.. One of the most expensive accommodations there. What we received was far from high level service. We were welcomed to the resort by a gentleman that stated we will be serving us for the entirety of our stay. We had a spill in the room and called for someone to come clean it. We also asked for 2 towels. No one came for over an hour to fulfill our requests. That is totally unacceptable. Once we returned to the accommodation from being out we called for room service. No one came to take our order. I had to walk to the restaurant to get someone to come take our order. We were told that we would have a dedicated attendant our entire stay and that was not the case at all. We were not brought any water when we asked. We were told just ask and they would bring us more. We requested some ice the next morning due to my guest hitting her toe on the chair in the room we didn’t not get any ice. The ice maker in the room was broke. No one came or called to check on us our entire stay. We were planning to stay another night but with all the issues we decided not to. This was an awful experience. We received absolutely no service during our stay. Due to the fact the service was not up to the expectations. We stayed in the Sea Level Bungalow with private pool. one of the most expensive accommodations there and we received absolutely no service. Very disappointed…

- Robert Wilkes (9/5): A lovely resort in beautiful surroundings with lovely staff. - The location of the resort is outstanding, overall it blends in very well with the natural surroundings. We stayed on the islet which was very well presented. The staff were extremely welcoming and eager to please. Food and drink was well presented and of good quality and portion size. Our room was opposite the beach resort on Cholon and from mid morning until late afternoon there was extremely loud music from all the visiting boats and the resort itself. Breakfast is included in the room rate, and is very good but to be charged for a glass of water at the overall high room rate I found quite amazing. Ironically I could have had a juice included!

- tabrown2016 (8/5): Relaxing at Hotel Las Islas - We stayed in a bungalow by the water for 5 nights. The bungalow was clean, comfortable, and well equipped. The cleaning staff sometimes removed towels and bathroom items and did not replace them. We called and requested replacements several times, getting occasional replacements. The outdoor area exclusively for our bungalow was incredible, several places to sit, a private pool (which was not maintained by the property, so we didn't use it), beachfront that was shared with one other bungalow, which was pretty narrow. We went snorkeling one morning, which was excellent. We were disappointed that the property had only one restaurant for lunch and one for dinner. The dinners were very good, the lunches were okay. Staff was all very friendly and helpful. The resort is large and we enjoyed the complimentary bicycles and and walking around the property. We recommend this property for a few nights, 5 nights is too long, in our opinion.

- caroline (8/5): proche du paradis - Endroit absolument paradisiaque, parfaitement intégré à la nature, avec un cadre exceptionnel et très dépaysant. Le personnel est extrêmement accueillant, attentionné et professionnel, avec un vrai sens du service. Nous étions dans un bungalow sur l’Isleta : magnifique, très confortable, avec une vue splendide et une grande intimité. Le restaurant est tout simplement exceptionnel — le meilleur que nous ayons testé en Colombie. Cuisine raffinée, produits de grande qualité et service irréprochable. Un véritable point fort de l’hôtel. La piscine attenante à notre bungalow ne semble pas traitée (eau dessalée sans traitement chimique ni véritable système de filtration visible). Nous sommes tous les deux rentrés avec une infection diagnostiquée comme liée à une bactérie présente dans des eaux stagnantes, et nous avons constaté d’autres commentaires allant dans le même sens. Ce point mérite d’être sérieusement amélioré. Par ailleurs, un manque d’entretien des abords est visible par endroits (branches coupées laissées au sol, végétation non ramassée). C’est dommage pour un établissement de ce standing, car le lieu est réellement exceptionnel et pourrait être irréprochable.
- Andrew (3/5): Overall extremely disappointing level of service, cleanliness (rat droppings in the room) resulted in our checking out e - The location and layout. There was a rat in our room during the first night. We raised this with the hotel who dismissed our complaint. The rat returned on our second night. We complained again however the hotels response was poor and offered no compensation.

- Cliff (7/5): We enjoyed our stay but felt the resort could do more to make it great - We liked the expansive property and the fun bungalows. The abundant staff were great. Use of the bikes and golf carts was also fun. We didn’t really like the island much and the event / activities side have more work to do to provide activities to do due to how remote the hotel is. We also thought that the hotel could do a lot more from a service perspire than they did for the amt they charge. Also, due to the location, you should assume you will stay on property the whole time.

Tivemos um rato no quarto por conta de um buraco que permitia a entrada no bungalow, mas o staff resolveu no dia a seguir e ofereceram-nos uma garrafa de lambrusco como pedido de desculpa.
- 868vickyd (6/5): Beautiful accommodation but lacks atmosphere - We were unlucky as booked 5 nights here after after 2 weeks of travelling and sightseeing, but we hit a storm so only had 2 nice days. There were no facilities for bad weather. Lunch restaurant on beach had little shelter. Restaurant food was great but no atmosphere. Top bar shut about 9.30, we were the only 2 couples there and felt they wanted to get rid of us. I know its a tranquil place but literally nothing to do of an evening or if weather bad.

- paulmG8906VQ (10/5): Superb stay - We loved this hotel, it was amazing. We stayed in the tree houses which were beautiful with every amenity you could want. You have to cycle to breakfast and dinner or call for a golf cart but that was fun. Breakfast overlooked the sea and was excellent. The evening meal was in the centre of the hotel and had superb food and not too expensive given that you are trapped. You can get food all day at the beach bar. The small beach is lovely with plenty of sun beds. My son and I did the snorkelling trip and the foil boards which was great fun and my wife and daughter had a lovely time in the spa. We only stayed 2 nights and it wasn’t enough. Staff are excellent. This is a superb place to go for a relaxing break. We had no issues with bugs or insects at all. Top class well done.

The breakfast at the Island was not as advertised. We got there and no one was there. There were a couple of employees that seemed almost upset that we were going to have breakfast there. The bar in the main restaurant (terrace) didn't have the wines that we wanted to order, and the bikes for transportation inside the hotel were old and very rusty, almost unusable.

Alvaro muy atento de lo que pudiéramos necesitar y todo el personal a de A&B. El baño tenía elementos rotos y falta limpieza. Falta de mantenimiento en el Turco. En el check out Anterno fue el único personal poco amable del hotel, lástima porque fue nuestra última impresión.

From beginning to end, the unique location, beautiful rooms and extremely friendly staff made our stay unforgettable. Matias ensured a personalized stay throughout the entire stay by checking us, recommending activities and restaurants and amazing service quality. Besides that, Anderson, who hosted breakfast and dinner service, took amazingly good care of welcoming us and serving us in the best friendly way possible. Furthermore, we would recommend the Spa, the massage that we received was perfect! Finally, although only mentioning two names, I want to say that we could have shared all staff member names here, because every single staff member of Hotel Las Islas exactly knows what hospitality really means!

- ana cristina (9/5): Hermoso lugar, concepto muy padre. - El concepto del hotel es excelente. Las habitaciones amplias cómodas y privadas. El desayuno muy bien. Puedes andar en bicicleta como transporte pero una de las nuestras no servía, la reportamos varias veces y no la arreglaron. Para una cena el transporte tardó 20 min cuando habitualmente tardaban menos de 5 min. salimos muy temprano, habíamos pactado hacer el check out el día previo. La srtita de la recepción marítima de la noche fue muy poco cooperadora, haciendo del proceso una experiencia desagradable. La cena, aunque buena no está a la altura del precio.

- Igor (10/5): Un séjour parfait et inoubliable ! - Tout était parfait, l’hôtel nous plonge dans un cadre paradisiaque ! Une nature luxuriante où la préservation de la nature est de mise ! La chambre était parfaite, très bien équipée et très propre. Le service l’était tout autant, nous avons été chouchouté du début à la fin. Une mention toute particulière à Jayson, Manuel et Matias qui ont été plus qu’attentionnés avec nous. La nourriture était excellente, surtout le petit déjeuner et le restaurant du soir. L’hôtel dispose de sa propre île privée où diverses activités sont proposées. Vous vous y sentirez seuls au monde et déconnectés ! C’est un sans faute ! Nous sérions ravis de pouvoir retourner dans cet hôtel lors d’un prochain séjour ! Milles merci ! Tout était parfait je n’ai aucun point négatif à évoquer. Il est simplement important de savoir que la route d’accès à l’hôtel peut être quelques peu périlleuse. À moins que vous possédiez une voiture assez haute, je vous recommande vivement de choisir le service de transport proposé par l’hôtel.

After making the reservation we learned that the transport from Cartagena to the hotel was a service with an extra charge, which isn’t the case for other hotels in the area and the prices were quite expensive.

- Dempsey (4/5): Nice play but not worth the cost - Nice location with a good variety of activities. Food is generally reasonable and staff are friendly. The central clubhouse is beautiful, and the telescope was a thoughtful and enjoyable touch. Rooms are overpriced and onsite food and drinks feel like price gouging, for example over USD 20 for an Aperol spritz. The check-in process is complicated, and the beaches are limited with average water quality.

While the setting is calm and pleasant, the service needs significant improvement, especially considering the level of the hotel and the rates charged. Expectations were much higher for the price paid. The food is okay, but nothing special and definitely not among the best I’ve tried in Cartagena, where there are many better dining options. The Wi-Fi in the room is practically nonexistent, which is unacceptable for a hotel in this price range. In summary, a tranquil place, but poor value for money unless major improvements are made in service, connectivity, and pricing.

- Sean (10/5): Hotel Las Islas Barú — a magical eco-luxury resort about 90 minutes from Cartagena. - Hotel Las Islas Barú was a truly unique and unforgettable experience. The staff were exceptional, and the location itself is simply stunning. We especially loved the treehouse room and the excursions to La Isleta Beach, which were highlights of our stay. The restaurant at the clubhouse was fantastic and became our favorite spot for evening meals. This hotel is a real gem and easily one of my favorite resort experiences in Colombia. We very much hope to return soon to this magical place. Next time, I would plan to spend less time in Cartagena and extend our stay at the resort—it’s an ideal destination to truly disconnect, unwind, and get off the grid Everything was great.
- Nikka (10/5): - The hotel is magical—we heard so much about how great it was and it more than lived up to the hype. If you’re looking for an incredible beach escape this is so much fun. We brought our kids and they played on the beach all day. I loved our room, which was in one of the treehouses and had spectacular views and was very comfortable. I also loved biking between the room, the restaurants, the beach, and the gym. In the morning you can bird watch from your deck. The food is very good!

- Arnold (10/5): El lugar es espectacular y en general increíble, pero tiene varias cositas que lo harían el lugar perfecto, pero si volv - Las instalaciones están buenísimas, la comida en general es buenísima, las habitaciones son muy cómodas y grandes, estilo rústico pero con todas las comodidades, el bungalow con piscina es espectacular la vista al mar, la atención del personal dentro del restaurante y recepción muy cálida, y se nota la diferencia entre el personal antiguo y el más nuevo. Siempre ha Transporte’s disponibles para moverse a la Isleta. El restaurante de la Isleta solo tiene comida tailandesa y picante y no tienen variedad, para ser un lugar del Hotel más para la gente que se queda en la Isleta no es práctico, debería de tener mayor variedad u opciones sin picante. La atención del personal que maneja los carritos que te llevan en las instalaciones no tienen buen entrenamiento de hospitality, hasta te pueden decir cosas negativas de las instalaciones, otra cosa, es que el personal en general no maneja la misma información, una persona te puede indicar algo y ser totalmente lo opuesto, se ve una desalineación del personal antiguo y nuevo. Aveces llamas a que limpien tu habitación y no llegan nunca.

- markus (6/5): Fazit : einmal und nie wieder! - Es gibt nichts was man hervorheben könnte trotz des hohen Preises Eigentlich alles, vom Frühstück angefangen, lustloses Personal , liebloses servieren, der kleine Strand der durch die Mangroven Abwässer eher trüb als karibisches feeling aufkommen lies, der Terrassen Pool wird direkt ohne Filter in den Pool gepumpt , die selbe trübe Brühe wie im Meer auch im Pool, das muss man mögen. Mit dem Fahrrad ist es eine Schnitzeljagd sein Zimmer zu finden, besonders abends aufgrund der extrem schlechten Ausschilderung eine Herausforderung
