Guest Reviews
- Roy (2/5): - Would not recommend this to anyone. Room not clean. No TV.
- Jeremy (1/5): - Rooms were dirty no cable no shampoo
- Loren (6/5): - No soap in the bathroom and no cable tv because of unpaid bills.
- Phillip (8/5): - The room was clean. But some of the blunds were broken, letting in light all night from the sidewalk.
One of the two beds had only the fitted sheet and cover.
- Chunyang (2/5): - This hotel is out of business already, nobody onsite
- Missy (2/5): - We did not stay at this property. It looks abandoned.
- Saunders (1/5): The hotel was CLOSED!!! -
- Steve (2/5): - This proper was closed. Had to get rooms at another hotel. Don't change me for this one and take it off your listing. Thanks Steve
.
- John (2/5): - Boarded up amd its a ghost town. Asked other people from the area they said once or twice a month a couple vans go there and thats it other than that closed. Sketchy!!!!
- Meghan (2/5): - They are closed!!!! Do not book here. Booked it day of, arrived to find office closed and locked, no keys or message to me on how to get in my room. SCAM!!!!
- Michael (1/5): Bad - Nothing Everything
- Sandy (2/5): - Maybe the fact that we made a reservation and ...they were closed?! When we called the # provided, they said "We are understaffed, you'll have to find another place to stay"
When I asked for a full refund, they said, youll have to contact Expedia. We still haven't heard from either and it's been a week.
- Michael (1/5): Crappy hotel - Nothing the pictures of what you have are not the same hotel. It's crap there. Everything
- Katrina (1/5): Can’t rate anything because I couldn’t even stay. I had to find other accommodations - Motel wasn’t open for me to check in Motel wasn’t even open
- Daniel (2/5): - It was a bad pick. No ac, no tv, no wifi. There was paint coming of of the shower tub. It was so hot trying to sleep that we just got up and left at 4am. I feel sorry for 2 young people that just took it over 2 days before we got there. I would not recommend staying here.
- Mark (4/5): - The hoel is in serious need of maintenance and updates. Grounds are unkept, exterior of entry area needs repair.
Inside of room was outdated and lacked basics like functioning AC and coffee cups for the in-room coffee maker.
- Karen (1/5): Won't even stay in Murdo anymore. The only decent motel in town is overpriced. - A/C didn't really work. Windows didn't open. Door security a joke (just a chain and doorknob lock). Water lukewarm. Wifi intermittent. One of the most questionable motels I've ever stayed in.
- thomas (2/5): - Place closed
- Tony (2/5): - Absolute dump. I was forced to leave review before checking in. No ac no tv something wrong with water i felt dirtier after shower than before. Absolutely thebworst hotel experience in 10 years of travel. If it cost 30.00 id maybe understand.
- Oksana (1/5): Bad -
- Oksana (1/5): Bad -
- Marvin (2/5): Awful - Well it started off I paid for 2 rooms and when we got there they only had one but couldn’t refund my money for the other room said I would have to call hotels after an hour being transferred back and forth and no one to help me I just called my bank to dispute the transaction
- Sandra (2/5): - It was not sanitary, carpets were very dirty, room was musty, no television reception, staff was very kind
- Irene (7/5): Good -
- Melissa (2/5): - No one in office upon arrival. Had to call a cell phone and wait approximately 10 minutes for personnel to arrive.. Did not provide breakfast as advertised. Bathtub had “scum” in it. Flies in room. Dirty washcloth hanging on bathroom door. Poor air conditioning. 1 coffee pod for 4 adult guests.
- Robert (4/5): - When I arrived at 11:00 PM, the room was stifling hot and took quite some time to cool down. The t.v. did not work. When I took a shower the first morning, there was no shampoo. I could not find where they were serving breakfast. I am not a picky person, but when you pay $100 per night for a room, I at least expect minimum services.
- Becki (2/5): I should get a refund. - There was no breakfast even though the advertisement said “free breakfast”. Was even posted on their sign. I wasn’t told there was no breakfast until my payment was processed. WiFi didn’t work. TV also didn’t work in anyone’s room. People were changing rooms only to find out no working tvs or WiFi in the next room. And a huge warning, the gal at the check in desk took a copy of my drivers license and refused to return the copy at checkout. She was not familiar with the small town, said she wasn’t from the area. Possibly an illegal. She said she was getting room and board in exchange for being on the property 24/7. Now I have to be concerned about someone using my identity.
- Rita (2/5): Din't stay there! - Terrible place: bathroom ceiling cracked and falling down, tv didn't work and the blind on the window was broken so people could look right in at the bed. They advertize a free breakfast. It turned out it consisted of a small bag of chili fritos and a packet of crackers. I refused to stay there. I am asking for a refund.
- Chad (2/5): - The woman at the desk was unpleasant. When we attempted to check in, she told us that she had given our room away because we arrived late despite having a confirmed reservation.
- Sebastián (7/5): Good - Good ratio price/quality
- Jeff (10/5): - The front desk attendent was polite and very helpful.
- Molly (1/5): Hotel was closed. It was a scam. - No one was there. Do not call the information line posted on the hotel.
- William (2/5): - There was nothing we liked! The room was small. We had a king-sized bed, which we did not ask for. There were no tables or chairs. There was a cobweb behind the entry door that was full of insects and looked like it had been there for a month. We will never go to this motel again.
- Robinson (1/5): We didn't stay - Nothing Nobody was there to check us in, so we didn't stay there. I'm hoping we don't get charged. Stilling waiting because it showed no cancellation.
- Craig (8/5): - Very slow internet.
- Rin (1/5): We didn’t check in, there was no one there to check us in. There was a girl sitting at a table that said she was off an - Absolutely nothing Was run down, weeds growing in parking lot. Office wasn’t open for checking in. Now where did it say it was Love Hotel! And old sunburnt sign said Dakota Lodge. Very confusing we didn’t know we were at the right place. It was very run down.
- Lyndel (1/5): No motel operating at this location. Better not have been charged for it!!!!! - None available as property was not in operation A viable motel was what we were hoping for
- Gary (1/5): Pathetic - The place was closed and had been for some time. We arrived at 9;30 pm with a dog to a small community thats vary limited, nothing available. We had to sleep in the car, and I'm awaiting spinal back surgery. Thanks Called after the booking was made and inform me that it accommodation dose not exist. Early so other plans could be made.
- BRAD (2/5): - We had to ring the bell in the lobby over and over. It was 20 to 30 minutes before we saw a person who gave us a key. Then turned off the open sign as soon as we left the office. Wi-Fi and tv didn’t work.
- Ross Van (4/5): - Nothing
- Susanna (1/5): Bad - Derelict and messy. Room was like a prison cell, no lamps. Garbage all over the parking lot and cleaning cart abandoned in front of our door. It was so miserable we just drove away. Couldn’t even fathom staying here.
- Stephanie (2/5): Very poor - The air conditioning worked good. Seemed ran down. More like a place rented to locals. Cleaning supply cart& shampooer left outside our door along with someone's boots on our steps. Rooms are out dated.
- Cynthia (7/5): clean adequate - minimal, could have been a little more overall dated
- Dave (1/5): Stay away - At least the bed was comfortable The name on the motel didn't match the booking. I had to call OYO, got past their auto attendant and finally got to a human who kept repeating the same wrong name. I eventually got the number of the property and called. The property was undergoing a name change and the outside sign hadn't changed. I checked in and was very disappointed with the condition of the facility. The room only had a bed and small night table, no chair, desk, dresser. There was a small fridge and microwave. Lots of flies in the room. AC was leaking water on the dirty carpet. Not enough hot water for a shower. Wifi was useless. Breakfast was almost non-existent, just some packaged snacks. No coffee and the breakfast room was filthy.
- John (1/5): SCAM!!! - The hotel was miss named.. it should have been called the Dakota. Very bad.
- Kose (2/5): Very poor - Lady at desk seemed nice, air was on and kool in 1st room, rooms apeared clean. Got our room, air conditionar leaked on inside floor bad. Sent us to another room, had to go back to 1st room to get toilett paper, another towel, coffee and cups. Cigerette butts all over outside. Flys in the room, some kind of bug, shower blew water all over the bathroom, floor was soaked, clothes got wet, no blow dryer, room was hot for qwite awhile. Managers dog was barking at 8am. Noone to complain too in morning. Pd 103. Something for all that.......not happy !
- Dennis (2/5): - Nothing..arrive to no attendant.had to call and text, but no response. Went to another hotel to ask. They called her. Only one towel, one coff
- Rachel (5/5): I would not recommend unless you have no other choice. - An adequate number of towels were provided. The outer appearance did not match the online picture. It was very dilapidated looking and we weren't confident it was safe. The room was adequate, but none of us felt comfortable taking a shower. The breakfast was bare minimum: sour OJ and packaged baked goods.
- Colette (4/5): Poor hotel - Old old motel. Outside signs not good. Has a real hard time finding it since it was not called what is on your site. Clark did not even come to check us in, did it over the phone. She did arrive the next day to give us our bill but the place was pretty disappointing. Very hot out but the air conditioner was not keeping up. Just a poor place. Don’t know why it had such high ratings.
- Donald (8/5): OK - Our stay here was ok. Helpful staff & Clean room.
Had some issues with flushing the toilet. Otherwise was ok.
- Chris (4/5): - Place needs some serious updating. Flies were horrible; they had a swatter in the room but by morning the room was full of flies again. Didn't even try the breakfast.
- Don (1/5): A place I would never stay in again - did not use The room was very bad. No chair or table to do any work. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was marginal at best. No hot water for morning shower. The place is very run down. Current on-line ratings are not representative of my stay.
- Ronald (1/5): Didn’t stay here, it was a dump. Not worth $30 a night, much less $104. Windows boarded up, weeds in all the cracks of p - Nothing Everything. This place is a dump. It shouldn’t even be on booking.com . Horrible conditions
- Michael (7/5): Port in a storm - Staff was friendly. Room was clean, had frig and micro. Wifi got repaired. Port in a storm on this secton of I-90 Grounds not inviting. Sign of previous incarnation still displayed out front and on web. Very sparsely furnished (no place to eat or store clothes).
- Norman (6/5): Pleasant -
- Dina (10/5): - Only 1 staff member and she was excellent. Very friendly and if we needed anything she always got it to us. Bathrooms need updating but room was clean and she had water and snacks in the room. I would recommend this place
- Ashley (10/5): - Perfect for a late night check in to catch up on some sleep. Pet friendly was a plus
- Linda (4/5): Comfortable enough but overpriced for what was provided. - Not much. The beds were comfortable. There has been some upgrading done. The room was clean. Outside appearance is run down. Internet did not work and staff was not around to tell me why. There was no breakfast. There was coffee, bagels that were dry and juice.
- Wayne (7/5): Good -
- Julie (1/5): We never stayed because it was deplorable - Nothing. We never stayed because it was filthy dirty and there was mold on the walls we asked for a refund and still got charged.
- Anonymous (1/5): So discussing we canceled in person and left property - Nothing
Place run down no signage looked abandoned!!!
We did not stay and are refusing paying after showing up at this dump!!! Completely false advertisement after see a totally different facility online!!! Everything was run down and dirty!!!
- Verified traveler (2/5): No way! - Stunk but we couldn’t figure out like what! Flies EVERYWHERE. Dirty, run down and the a/c unit sounded like it was going to blow up! We checked right back out after 5 minutes and drove to a different hotel. Now having to fight to get our money back despite being told we would receive it within 72 hours.
- Rebecca (2/5): - We had 2 rooms that were very old and in need of remodeling. The mattresses were horrible. It was not a good stay at all.
- Kelley (2/5): - Name on the sign didn't match the description. Breakfast was in another room. Came with a fly swatter. Check in lady was very nice.
- Jamie (8/5): Very good - Friendly staff, the room was clean Nothing
- Susan (4/5): - The room looks nothing like the picture. There are no headboards or footboards. The rooms are painted cinderblock walls with not pictures. The bathrooms are old and the hot water doesn't work. The bed was comfortable though the sheets were stained. When you arrive the name of the motel is not the same. It's called The Dakota Lodge (or something close to this). The staff stated getting a clean room was a "hit or miss". Expedia charged $105.00 and if you show up in person the room will only be $76, according to the staff.
- Rick (1/5): No help from a Booking.com or hotel. - Nothing Room had smell, door wouldn't lock, window was filthy ,more flies than you can imagine.Looks like they were starting to remodel. Is not in anyway ready to be occupied. We left after 15 minutes and killing 11 flies and their were still plenty more.Stopped at office to tell them we were leaving and would like to have a refund. They said to contact Booking.com. Booking.com said they had to talk to the hotel. They couldn't get a hold of them after almost 2 weeks. Imagine that, another run around. Does booking.com not verify that a hotel is fit to occupy. We did not cancel and we did show up so why do we have to pay when the hotel is not ready to be open. Any way l would look elsewhere, we had to pay for another room elsewhere down the road, but at least it was livable. No help from booking.com except for a $15.00 credit.
- Sam (6/5): Pleasant - Location Flys in room
- Stacie (1/5): Disgusting - Absolutely filthy Absolutely filthy full of mold dirty comforter bathroom selfie room was very smelly and I try to get a refund and they would not refund my money very disappointed that place should be condemned
- Ralph (2/5): - Needs bulldozed
- Anonymous (3/5): We will never stay at this place again - Easy to find. Convenient to the highway The room did not appear as advertised. No headboard or side tables. No ice. Very little toilet paper. Noisy during the night.Rugs were dirty.
- Klyoung (5/5): Passable - The hosts were really nice!
It's clean and very minimalistic. The beds were pretty springy and although improvements appear to be in progress, you get what you pay for...
- Dave (2/5): - This place should not be listed on Expedia. Substandard condition. The name on Expedia does not even match the hotel sign. The Expedia listing would indicate some level of standards through the OYO chain, but that is not the case.
- Gabrielle (2/5): - The room was FULL of flies that kept landing on my face while I was trying to sleep. The bed was broken down. The worker was EXTREMELY rude.
- Dolinta (4/5): Disappointing -
- Chris (2/5): Murder Hotel - I love vintage. I love quaint. This is neither. Filthy. Picture is deceptove. Sink was not even cleaned between guests. So many flies you couldn't stand it
Nice swatter in the room if you feel like doing pest control for them. This place has charm that could be restored with some soap, water and a little effort. The 2 huge overflowing garbage cans sitting outside the rooms on the walkway MAY be the source of the flies. Move them.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Overall disappointing - We checked in after dark and the keys were in the room with the doors unlocked. It was surprisingly run-down and lots of flies and mosquitoes in the rooms (at least they provided us a flyswatter!). In the middle of the night the old A/C unit started clicking and grinding, so not a restful night at all.
- Randi (8/5): Very good - Front desk was awesome even with our later arrival he help out turned lights on and ac prior to us getting in our rooms. Super helpful and made sure we had enough beds for all of us traveling. Breakfast was awesome too all individually wrapped items.
- Frank (2/5): Very disappointed - This place is in serious need of some upgrades.
It was not identified as a Love hotel. It had a different name.
No one to check you in you had to call a number.
The room also had lots of flies that were very bothersome.
I think Hotels.com needs to check this place out in person.
- Rhonda (2/5): - No one onsight for check-in or check-out. You have to call a number to check-in. I was on hold with no explanation for about 10-15 minutes except for he had to get his computer and later to say he was still there. Later, thinking I had been hung up on, I called back twice to voicemail. Third time call was answered. Finally got instructions for check in. Carpet had not been vacuumed and the smell from the bathtub drain was horrible. No hand towels. Room very outdated. At least the bed was comfortable and he gave us a discount for the inconvenience at check-in. Definitely no frills.
- Gloria (7/5): Good - It was clean. To many flies. Need to have some fly swatters in the rooms.
- Heather (1/5): Bad - Nothing Well, there was a queen fitted sheet on a KING bed. Made it uncomfortable to sleep and bed was very old and hard and you sank into the middle. Worst 4 nights of sleep ever.
- David (2/5): Very poor - We got what we paid for..long drive, last minute but… Probably built in the 50s with the original carpet, windows that haven’t opened in decades..You get the picture. The dude at the front desk was very friendly
- Laurie (2/5): - There was only a bed and nightstand besides a refrigerator and microwave.
- Jeannine (6/5): - The room itself was very old. There was a box AC unit in the wall. The window in the bathroom did not help me feel secure because it was large enough for a person to fit through if they broke it and it was at the back of the property. The manager was very nice and helpful. Breakfast area smelled musty and the Cream cheese for the bagels in the morning had a bad texture, like it was old. There also was no trashcan in the breakfast area. I understand the hotel is under recent new ownership, I think this place needs upgrades and remodel
- Kathy (8/5): - Very clean, convenient and friendly caretaker.
- Christine (6/5): Pleasant - Towels smelled great! Red ant in bathroom
- David (10/5): - Just stayed one night, room was clean, shower was hot and the stay was peaceful. May be a old motel but that's what i was looking for. Thanks
- Myron (1/5): Bad -
- Melodie (10/5): - Cleaned, very comfortable and easy accessible.
- XIONEL (10/5): - Dakota lodge was like arriving at cosy paradise oasis hidden in the vast prairie after I had been driving hundreds of miles across two states! I pulled in close to midnight but was pleasantly surprised to be met by a lovely beautiful front desk angel originally from the mile high state who welcomed me to Murdo with the keys to my adorable home for the night! The room was immaculately pristine and the bathroom was a visual treat! The room decor was so impeccablly put together as if a professional interior designer was in the house! It felt so comfortable at the Dakota lodge that one could live there forever! Thank you for a perfect and memorable stay!
- Anonymous (6/5): Pleasant -
- Michael (10/5): All I Needed for a Good Night's Rest - Just as advertised and as expected; no frills but economical. My priorities are: cleanliness, economic, comfortable, and convenient. This motel pleased on all fronts. I didn't get to meet the host/hostess. A key was conveniently placed in a box for our late arrival. The room was clean, the shower was warm, and the bed was comfy; everything I needed for an overnight sleep on a cross country road trip. -- Thank you for a pleasant night's rest.
- Sandra (8/5): - Older motel but adequate and affordable.
- aldyne b. (8/5): - Very basic hotel. Met all our needs. Clean. Checkin was very easy. Would stay again
- John (7/5): Good -
- Mark (6/5): - The property is older and needs an update. The one night stay was pleasant.
- James (10/5): - We all loved this place. This was my kind of a hotel. All of us got a great night’s sleep on a decent bed with pillows that were not too fat like some hotels. Bed had a warm blanket and a sheet so you could have get an amount of covers that worked for you. I also loved that this was a motel. Motels are so much more convenient than standard hotels. All of your things are right next to you in your car which is right next to your room. No walking a block up 3 flights of stairs with your luggage. The staff here was super friendly. I made a mistake in my dates with my initial no cancel reservation and they quickly fixed it for me. Finally, it had an AC unit that can also run as a fan that continually runs instead of turning off at a temperature so you could have a sound block going.
- Smith (10/5): Exceptional - Ease of check-in and location.
- Calli (10/5): - Liked having frig and microwave.
