Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff is so nice and friendly
clean
good breakfast
- Dustin (10/5): Excellent - Had a great time at this traditional Japanese flat. I went with three guys in our 30s so probably not her typical guests but we really enjoyed it as well as the breakfast.
We actually had to cut our stay one day short to fly home early she was very accommodating no complaints at all would love to stay again.
- sumiko (10/5): おせち最高! - おおみそかの宿泊で、朝おせち料理を出して頂きました。
とても豪華で、味もすばらしかったです。
今年もぜひお世話になりたいです(^^)
- Pierre (10/5): Great place and great host - The host is incredible, very kind and helping and funny too. It's been a really enjoyable human experience for us which felt like a stay in our family. The location is perfect in a preserved neighbourhood. The common bath and the breakfast are completely great as well. We can only warmly recommend this place!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very friendly owner, says she doesn't have the best english but she was very easy to understand and helpful to us.
- jean-michel (10/5): un hotel au coeur de Gion - un hotel traditionnel au coeur de Gion charmant
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Had a great time at this traditional Japanese ryokan. Owner was very helpful and friendly, as was the cleaner during the few times we spoke. I was a bit worried about the noise levels with the thin paper windows, but with double-glazing and a mosquito screen in place, noise from the street was non-existent. Location couldn't have been any better: walk out the front door and within a matter of seconds you're on the main street leading to Kyiomizu, aside from Gion Corner, probably the most attractive area of Kyoto. All in all, a great experience. Only slight downside was when a tour group of around 4 young women arrived and were stomping around till the early hours of the morning. They quickly moved on though, so can't complain. Great stay and would repeat again.
Ci siamo davvero sentiti come a casa nostra!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great service and host. Comfortable futon and pillow. The hot bath in the evening relieved all the tiredness from the day. A nice place to stay for a ryokan experience and a morning walk in beautiful neighborhood before the crowd arrives.
- AC (10/5): - The location was fantastic - within a quiet and traditional neighborhood. A short walk to a very famous temple allowed you to take in all of the beautiful sights. It is an experience that can be enjoyed by all ages. The host was very kind and humble. She made our stay very enjoyable, along with helping us with directions and other sightseeing’s. The meals provided to us were very good, as the host was accommodating to our dietary restrictions. Additionally, the food was presented in a way that is very pleasing to the eyes.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is a wonderful property with Japanese style rooms. We would wake up in the morning with a wonderful breakfast served in our room. Then shower downstairs, and head out for the day, when we would return, our room was refreshed and the futons all laid out for the night. We then took showers and relaxed in the ofuro bath. Customer service was excellent! Will highly recommend!
One thing to note is that restaurants nearby close early around 17:00~18:00 in sync with the nearby Kiyomizu-dera temple. A walkable, albeit long, trip towards the city center is needed for a later dinner.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Host was very nice and helpful - was able to understand English which was great for us
- Blake (10/5): - Great little spot and friendly host
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The nice lady who runs this property is so considerate and helpful. Everytime she saw us she asked us about our day and she also made a lovely bento breakfast each morning. Could not have asked for a better place to stay in Kyoto, great bath as well !!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Started with a really warm welcome and room, lovely (and very Japanese ) breakfasts. Comfortable room for 3 with plenty of room to spread out. Bit of a walk up the hill to get there but definitely worth it. We had a really good three nights.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The property is in a great location, and very close to Kiyomizu-dera. The host was extremely kind and made check-in very smooth. There isn't a lot of space to bring many large suitcases because of the tight staircases, but for active light travellers, it's perfect. The common spaces and bath were very clean, and the host even prepares the bath for you when you want to shower. The host's English was very good, and I would definitely stay here again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great tiny traditional place - A+
- laura (10/5): Enjoyed stay. Beautiful part of Kyoto - This was perfectly placed amongst a number of shrines and temples, historical buildings, small shops. Quiet at night but 30 walk or 3 bus stops from busy night time area. The breakfasts were lovely traditional Japanese. Proprietess helpful. Shared shower, sinks, toilets never a problem. Would stay again.
- Imran (8/5): Nice place with great host - Really nice, cosy place. The lady who runs the place was super nice and even helped me do some basic laundry. Showers and toilets were in great condition and rooms comfortable with tatami mats and floor mattresses. The hostel is located in Kyoto old town and so was well connected to places we wanted to see. Only downside was the lack of a common area or kitchen facility. If you stay here I would recommend getting breakfast with the room because all cafes nearby only open at 10am.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Tucked away just off the street - you will find this wonderful home and a wonderful host that is welcoming and vey accommodating. If you stay here you must reserve for the Japanese style breakfast each day - a highlight for sure! The room comfortable and there is a closet which is nice for storing your luggage and belongings. Our room was nice and quiet and the wood screens are simply beautiful.
If you are staying in Kyoto - this property is a must, with the location, host and Japanese breakfast you cannot go wrong! We stayed for 4 nights and would definitely stay here again.
