Guest Reviews
- kurt (4/5): -
- Christopher (9/5): Pleasant stay for a few days, Suitcase Motel a perfect match for us. - The Suitcase Motel was perfect for the days we needed to visit North Wildwood. The location was perfect and surrounding area served our needs. The staff was very pleasant and friendly. Plenty of off street parking was available. The complimentary breakfast was a nice touch. Coffee and baked items to start the day. As with most Wildwood motels it’s dated. Years of “fresh” paint and wear have paid their toll on the outside. Our room could use an update but was comfortable.
- Gary (9/5): - Great place with a great staff. Perfect location. Clean rooms
- Sara (8/5): Nice place on a budget - We had a great stay! We would definitely stay here again. The property was as expected and was nice and quiet.
- Walter (1/5): Absolutely horrible. - Nothing Room was horrible . Outdated and the mattress was old and saggy. Owner was mean and very difficult to deal with. Booking.com should be ashamed to deal with this place.
- Elizabeth (1/5): I didn’t complete my stay because of the condition of the property. I only stayed one night. - Nothing The property was old no updates. The bathroom was in very poor condition pipes rusty. It just wasn’t good at all.
- Brian (8/5): -
- Lee Ann (8/5): Friendly service and clean rooms. - Pool was clean, rooms were clean, bed and pillows were super comfy. Loved the reading book. There were flowers and plants all around and cozy areas to sit and relax. The owners were super friendly and attentive, the free breakfast was nice. Decor and furnishings were very dated. Could definitely use some updating.
- Richard (7/5): -
- Steven (8/5): - Rooms were a little dated, and not the highest cleanliness, but the staff were the best!
- John (3/5): Too much money to rent for a weekend -
- Samuel (9/5): -
- Danielle (10/5): The area’s best-kept secret - The owner was very nice. She made sure we were comfortable and had the air turned on when we got there it was the perfect temperature! We got lost a few times looking for the property because we are not from the area, the owner always answered the phone when we called to give us instructions on how to get there and she was readily available upon check-in and check-out.
- Donna (10/5): Cozy and Friendly - Excellent hosts, good location and a family-style atmosphere. Thoughtful people.
- Charles (9/5): Clean abd great location -
- Michael (10/5): - Excellent customer service
- Jenn (4/5): - Not very friendly. Follows you around.
- Vincent (6/5): - I was basically harassed at check-in and was almost not able to fulfill it based on what was being asked for. I did not bring the card I used to pay for the hotel originally and had to jump through hoops to find the correct numbers, associated name on the account, etc. Never had such an experience checking into any hotel. The place had a very weird vibe too, with a special needs man always wandering around, I know he worked there and that's fine, but he was always there and when I went to check out I had to do a room check first. Again, a first when staying anywhere. Will not be going back.
- Biddle (1/5): Bad - Nothing. Upon check in, the woman at the front desk was very unprofessional and rude. A friend and I booked this motel without knowing they had a policy of 25 and older. We were also not told about an upfront security deposit that we thought was included in the payment of $400 that we already made. We tried to work out some type of refund or compensation. They told us to contact booking.com to resolve it because they were not capable. We were able to get a half refund for the inconvenience we were experiencing with lack of information provided for us prior to booking the trip.
- Paul (8/5): Very good -
- Carl (9/5): Nice place would stay again, - Staff very friendly. Continental breakfast was included. Pool looked so refreshing. Alarm clock had USB connection. They even had pool towels. It would have been nice to have seen what the breakfast options were the night before so you can plan accordingly, But once you've had it once you know. : )
- Chuck (5/5): Passable -
- Michael (8/5): Very nice - Location and ambiance I didn’t like that the air didn’t stay on
- Israel (8/5): Very good - Nice place
- Jesse (5/5): the staff was very nice. helped with all questions. not very young adult oriented. - quiet. though dated, nice outdoor common spaces. dated rooms, furniture. power outages. not geared towards young adults.
- William (6/5): good stay execpt for the power issue. - overall nice mostly quiet place. power kept going off Saturday night.
- Ernest (10/5): - Very cozy and clean.
- Cora (8/5): Hidden surprise - The owners were nice and able to recommend family places to visit. The motel was clean, and the decorative flowers made it feel like a little garden B&B. It was quiet and and quaint. I would stay their again.
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional - I really liked Bob he took care of us the entire stay and always made sure we had everything we needed Bob is the man When we had to leave Bob
- Ana (8/5): - Place was clean and the owners very friendly and welcoming. The place also has beautiful flowers and plants around the property. The motel could definitely use some updating,
- Denisse (9/5): Superb -
- Heather (5/5): Nice hotel but would not stay again - Clean, staff was very friendly Not as close to the beach as they said, beds were hard as a rock and no outlets to plug stuff in.
- Lizanne (9/5): Superb -
- Robert (10/5): No complaints! - Didn't eat breakfast. Didn't eat breakfast.
- Ach (8/5): Very good - It's close to everything. The price was very reasonable. It's clean, and the staff makes sure everyone understands the rules. It's perfect for people who don't want late night noise and drug users wandering around.
- Joshua (10/5): - Had a great stay here with my kids over the weekend. Clean, quiet and a well-managed property. I will stay here again.
- James (8/5): Very good - Great location, friendly staff
- Maureen (6/5): - Owner was too overbearing
Far walk to beach
But very clean
- Regina (10/5): Everything you need for a relaxing vacation close to the beach and amenities of Wildwood. - The place was very clean and had everything we needed - clean and comfortable bed and bathroom/shower with seating on the balcony outside the room. The pool area was very nice and well maintained. They even had a really cool area for lounging and hanging out with a cup of coffee or a cold beer. They run a tight ship and this helps to maintain a clean and quiet environment. If you’re looking for a loud party place this isn’t it. But if you want a clean, quiet, and comfortable place to stay I recommend it. Tools could use a little updating but this wasn’t a deal breaker.
- George (2/5): - Totally not worth the price. Paid $700 and a $200 security deposit for 2 nights. Booked the large 2 double bed room for my wife and myself. A friend stayed over Saturday night because she drank too much and I didn’t want her to drive . They charged me an additional $50. For her. And a red flag was there was no one else staying at the hotel. Maybe one other family. I drive past the motel on 4th of July weekend and only one car there. Says a lot.
- Margaret (10/5): A great place with caring owners - The owners made us feel safe and comfortable though a unforeseen power outage in the area . They gave us lanterns, went and got us food. They checked up on us periodically. They were the most thoughtful people I have ever met. Please give them your business Nothing
- Joseph (1/5): They will never see me again. - Nothing. Old and needs updating. They ask for a $200 security deposit on top of a $200 room rate. It was me and my sister there for a funeral. we’re in our 40s/50s. Not necessary. Too complicated checking in.
- Mike (7/5): Good -
- william (2/5): - I did not like anything, it is very very old and held together with band aids...simply horrible
Paid for 2 nights left after one night
- Christopher (1/5): creepy - nothing everything
- Carrion (1/5): Bad -
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (2/5): Very poor - The woman that ran it has a trifling personality I can understand in this business there are those that take a vantage but we weren’t those kind of people but we’re treated as such
- Caitlin (8/5): Very good - staff was very sweet and the location was adorable. loved the terrace above, spent a lot of time up there air conditioner knob broken, very hot the first night but we were able to fix it somehow … cold water knob was NOT working lol it had to be screwed on correctly but it took a bit to get it to work
- Connor (10/5): Exceptional -
- Katie101686 (1/5): Uncomfortable the entire stay!! - Location was good. Not far from the beach & board walk. The male staff/manager literally watches your every move when your outside your room. Other visitors with similar reviews are not telling lies. He will literally sit there and watch you the entire time your in the pool too. It’s creepy. We weren’t causing any trouble or breaking any rules. We were on a family vacation with our children. So I didn’t see the need to watch our every move especially since they’ve got the whole place fitted with cameras!
- Humerya (10/5): - Very cute & clean retro little motel. Property is kept up with lots of tables and seating to lounge outside with pretty flowers and plants. Very walkable to eateries and shopping. Definitely will be back to this little gem next time in North Wildwood!
- Jason (10/5): - Love this place! I stayed with my partner for Fri. & Sat. in July last minute and they had vacancy. 1 small double bed room. We were on the beach the whole time, so only needed a place to sleep. It's a 10-15 minute walk to the beach (we had a cart.) The owners were incredibly accommodating and nice. They've run the motel for 30 years and clearly with a lot of love and care. There are real - not plastic - plants and flowers everywhere. They just put in a new covered wooden awning with picnic tables this year so you could eat or relax in the shade. For the free continental breakfast you order it at the window like a little cafe and they make it for you right there (coffee, hardboiled eggs, fruit, bagels). The wonderful owner Bob is there onsite always to make himself available to you for whatever you might need. The vibe is quiet and chill, but they have also cultivated a community vibe. I've never really chatted with any motel neighbors before, but I did at the Suitcase. I'm an introvert so just a little, but it was nice. There are beautiful shrubs, tables and chairs outside of each room that are enjoyable to just sit. There is also a perfectly organized lounge area with flowers, plants, and shelter and a library. Like I said this is a throwback motel with a lot of history and character so if you prefer an old-school experience rather than a cutout big box plastic palm tree place, I would recommend. I am definitely returning.
- edgardo (6/5): - a little out dated the beds were uncomfortable they were very nice and accommodating over all i give them a 3 due to out to date rooms
- Noelle (8/5): - Large gap around hotel room door
- Melissa (6/5): - The property was very old. The women and man who were at the property were very nice but I had sooooo much paperwork to do before. I even had a room key! I’m Soo used to using codes to enter rooms I locked myself out the room. It was quiet and it did do the trick for what I needed.
- Rosemary (6/5): - The room was clean. The front desk woman was rude and unreasonable. Checkout is at 10 am and she threatened to charge for another night if checking out at 10:01. Also demanded check in at 2:00 sharp - even tho no one else was at motel. Often she would not listen to customer. Left with a very bad feeling.
- Sandy (4/5): - The woman at the desk was rude and very unwelcoming
- Laurel (4/5): - It was Labor Day weekend and we were desperate for a room as our car had broken down and we were stranded out of town. Have never experienced anything like this place. Tons of paperwork to complete. No visitors permitted. Male employee sitting in corridor outside rooms watching everyone. Sheers on windows...no shades or blinds...put beach towel over curtain rod for privacy. Beds were comfortable but bedspread in back room had blood on liner. Front room & back room separated by makeshift bathroom. Toilet mounted on a slant so can open door which stuck because latch coming out of door. Faucets and showerhead needed replaced about 20 years ago. Makeshift vanity holding up sink. Mildew in tub mat. Back bedroom windows nailed shut. No overhead lighting...2 floor lamps and 2 Christmas lamps. Ancient AC unit that did work thankfully. All electrical is surface conduit. Carpet appeared to be clean. No closets. Paid almost $1000 for 3 nights at this dive...thank goodness I wasn't alone.
- Jessica (10/5): - It was good
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Thankyou it was lovely
- Luz-Ivette (10/5): Definitely Recommend - It was amazing the staff was pleasant and the facility was nice and clean! I will definitely visit again!
- Vicki (8/5): - Everything was good…
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The place wasn’t bad, especially for a beach hotel but the staff was very intense and not very accommodating. Be aware that they charge you a $200 security deposit when you check it and they make you sign a bunch of papers.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - No visitors allowed, not even to walk up to the room with you to drop something off. Uncomfortably watched 24/7. Mold in the bathroom. Water bottles under the bed from the previous guests. Box springs broken and basically caving in to the floor.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was clean and, as advertised there are a ton of beautiful, real flowers decorating the outdoor seating area. The owner has A LOT of rules and don't be blind-sided by the $200 security deposit upon check-in as I was. Read the small print! However, as long as you don't smoke in the room or break anything, you get the deposit back upon check-out.
- Robert (2/5): Worst Hotel in North Wildwood - I arrived at the hotel and right from the start I knew something was wrong. The woman at check in was extremely aggressive and rude. When she took me to the room she told me that the room had been cleaned up from all the water. The room was disgusting. I explained to the woman we were there for my son's birthday at that something had to be wrong with the booking because it was coming up 1 person. There was an obvious language barrier there. She mistook my wife and I for prom weekend kid and we're almost forty she came running out of the office screaming at my wife and despite it being absolutely pouring we left and found a hotel elsewhere. I wish I would have read the reviews on this place before booking. Creepy guy that works there followed us to and from the room as we left. After leaving and contacting Hotels.com they apologized and refunded us our money only for the Suitcase Motel to turn around and charge us, saying there is a no refund policy. I am in the process of fighting this with my credit card company. Save your family and sanity and never stay here. Read the reviews. The place is arguably the worst motel in North Wildwood. I wish I knew. As a new homeowner in Wildwood, I look forward to working to put them out of business! Stay anywhere else!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Wonderful friendly and welcoming staff. Great service. Quiet area. Not as crowded as Cape May. Very clean room. Loved having refrig and microwave.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Loved it
- Verified traveler (8/5): - A very convenient stay that was close to everything. Has everything you need if you just want a quick place to sleep. Staff was very accommodating and helpful. Overall great place to stay with a great headboard.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I was there on business it was close to where I was going to work. The staff is very friendly and helpful it was a good day
- Verified traveler (4/5): - I went for Memorial Day weekend with my husband. I felt like I was checking into a dorm room. They watched any and every move my boyfriend and I made. It was Memorial Day weekend so my brother dropped something off at our room and one of the staff or owner banged on our door so loudly it scared me and he’s accusing us of having more people and he was basically inside our room at this point. He kept screaming no visitors allowed and wouldn’t comprehend that someone just dropped something off. Very rude and def not worth spending money to have someone check on you in that manner.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Do not stay at this hotel. No visitors allowed- yes, even if you are a full grown adult! The owners treat you like 16 year old children here.
We chose a room that EXPLICITLY said 'sleeps 4.' We arrive with 3 (thinking great, one person will get their own bed) and we were chased down saying that the third person was NOT to enter the room.
The owner said "expedia will charge you more!" (for the 'extra' person.) We call expedia, they say "we will not charge more because the room was advertised as sleeping 4 people" and the owner decides to charge us anyway, stating 'that's what the security deposit is for!' Our third person ended up leaving and staying with family off the island.
Checked out 30 minutes later than listed and had to pay for an extra night. Paid almost $1,000 dollars for a room with ZERO visitors allowed (Visiting area is a rusty bench in front of the check in area!)
Outdated, dingy decor. Rooms are dark and depressing like a cave. Rude staff.
Don't stay here. These people are looking for any and every excuse to squeeze every last dime out of you. The place was dead empty, on a peak weekend (memorial day weekend) which says a lot. Learned our lesson.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Seemed clean . The breakfast could have been better. There was so much paint on bathroom door hard to close . Very old furnishings. Not worth cost. Seemed like toilet leaking underneath.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The property and room was exceptionally clean! Farther from the noise of the boardwalk so very quiet. The owners were visibly present during the entire stay and continually asking if there was anything needed or more they could do. The decor is outdated but this appears to be a privately run hotel. Overall I was very impressed and will stay again. Very reasonably priced compared to others
- Juan Pablo Inestroza (2/5): MEAN COSTUMER - The costumer was so mean I got really scared and she screams at everyone even kids
- Angel (2/5): - Horrible customer service
- Thomas (4/5): A Little Below of a So So place to stay - Rooms were old and outdated although not Dirty. Just not current with the interior. Also Management is very STRICT with visitors as you are not permitted to have any whatsoever, not even a knock on your door. All must stay and remain at the front desk. I can totally understand not to have anyone in the pool but not allowed on the property whatsoever was kind of extreme
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Wonderful staff. Home feeling. Would stay again great location with lots to do. Walking distance to evertthing
- Verified traveler (4/5): - As my Mom would say If you don’t have something good to say don’t say anything at all.
- Colleen (10/5): - Easy check in and out. Property was very welcoming. So nice to have coffee and pastries in the morning for guest s. Pool and surrounding area was clean. Nice lounge area on second floor to read, eat or just hang out. Will definitely be back
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The check in was tedious
The rules were extremely strict, not allowing any visitors in the room OR even on the property. Visitors had to stay completely off the property
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Friendly service and staff
Convenient to restaurants and entertainment
Offered continental breakfast
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I love these classic motels especially in beach towns where they give atmosphere and help keep the building profiles low. The Suitcase Motel was great. Check in was easy, the owner/manager and on site help were friendly and helpful. The room was very clean with a clean microwave and full size fridge, the pool well maintained, an outdoor lounge area on the second floor provided a relaxing area and a case of books to read. The hibiscus, geraniums, and plants everywhere set it apart from others we saw around town. They were a lovely touch and beautiful to see
every day. We enjoyed our stay and plan to book here again next summer.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - . Very nice owners and very clean rooms. Not too far from boardwalk Nice stay and clean
- Rich (10/5): - It was an incredible experience as always. Majura is always very accommodating and delightful to us guests. Our room was very clean and comfortable. I plan on vacationing many more times at The Suitcase Motel.
- Gilberto (2/5): - The hotel was far from the boardwalk to expensive very small rooms the room was small the bed not comfortable at all the tv kept going in n out the Continental breakfast coffee white bread or bagel n a bananas the swimming pool was real small I only stayed because I could not cancel also I paid Expedia for for insurance which didn’t cover that I couldn’t make it there because of transportation I won’t be using them again neither
