Guest Reviews
- KEVIN (9/5): -
- John (9/5): Warm friendly atmosphere in a proper old worldly country pub. - The staff and people from the area were very friendly Nothing
- ROBERT (8/5): A good stay - Breakfast was Good. Nothing
- Mark Doxey (10/5): Lovely pub lots of character great staff and tasty pub grub at its best. - Very characterful pub and no noise in the room upstairs even though the pub was busy. Great welcome from the landlords wife and the staff were really nice. Had dinner there and that was faultless. All in all a great place to stay.
- Mary (9/5): Very welcoming hotel with very good facilities. - Homely, welcoming, excellent value for money. High quality chouce of food. Liked everything
- Stephanie (7/5): - Peter provided me the history of the tavern. He and his wife put in a lot of work over 25 years to make it what it is today. Very interesting! Beds were slightly uncomfortable.

- Carl (10/5): - The bar and staff Limited parking but to be expected in a village
- Wendy (10/5): Excellent staff and excellent food. - The food here is excellent. The owners and bar/waiting staff are all friendly and chatty. A real village pub which also acted as a shop for the locals as the one in the village had closed down. Room was comfy.
- Maria (10/5): Great stay in Croscombe - Lovely atmosphere, great rooms and wonderful food. Staff were efficient and friendly It was all great
- Christine (10/5): Great find and highly recommend - Great accommodation- lovely pub with great food and extremely friendly and helpful hosts. Great location for getting into Wells. Our room was spacious and had everything we needed. Nothing

- mark (9/5): We enjoyed it very much and look forward to our next visit. - The breakfast was delicious, local bread, butter and eggs. Friendly family and dogs around. Felt at Home. The weather was a bit cold so could have done with a little more heat in the room.
- John (10/5): It was like joining a daily for 3 days. - A lovely village pub which was obviously the heart of the community and had excellent food. Nothing
- Sian (10/5): -
- tomlinson (9/5): Good value for money in a friendly and accommodating environment - Good choice of menu for breakfast and dinner. Nicely presented and good value for money. Staff exceptional very friendly and responsive to requests. Pub in good location, well stocked with good choices. Pub very much centre of community, locals friendly and good to see additional services being provided to the local community. Nothing

- Kevin (10/5): Excellent room and facilities. Super breakfast and excellent staff and hosts - Old and charming Only parking
- Rundle (9/5): - Excellent, we were looked after very well, all the staff were superb and the food was great. Thank you Rundle and Paddy
- Kevin (8/5): Good solid pub accomodation. - The rooms were good, all of my family were happy with them as well as the staff friendliness and having a pub in the building makes for a good connection time for the family with reduced driving or moving around. The dinner was more than up to scratch as well. Unfortunately on the evening of our stay, there was an auction for a good cause, but the auction went on quite late and the party as well. This didnt make for a good sleep all round and perhaps a bit more consideration for the guests (we had ALL of the rooms) would have been appropriate.
- The Reverend Christopher (8/5): A good position for an overnight stay en route from Devon to London - The highlight was one of the dogs who shared my breakfast! I have no reservations
- Vicky (10/5): Excellent - Friendly owners, lovely food
- Susan (10/5): - Traditional pub along with excellent bed and breakfast.
- Jaqi (10/5): - Excellent breakfast and the staff could not have been kinder or more helpful
- Alan David (10/5): Brilliant hosts, fab food and a great little village - The staff were amazing and the food was outstanding and excellent value Parking is a little tight but still manageable
- Admiral_Forest (9/5): Great pub for a weekend getaway - Owners were great..Welcoming and helpful..Lovely food but the menu was a bit limited. Loads of tables and open fires. Lovely oldy worldy pub. Bathroom was a bit tired and the sloping roof in room 1 prevents a proper shower. Loads of hot water though.
- Clément (10/5): Top expérience - Accueil du patron, pub très sympa avec super cuisinier. Breakfast royal Literie manquant de fermeté
- Simon (10/5): Great place for a one night stay - Lovely family run pub. Good food, good drink, good accommodation and excellent staff.
- John (8/5): -
- Janet Cousins (10/5): -
- Sarah (8/5): A very good experience. - Welcoming atmosphere in pub surroundings with decent food - obviously a hub of village life. Chairs in dining area a little uncomfortable
- Ed (8/5): - Size of room, warmth and large bed Parking, head height in bathroom
- Richard (9/5): - The hosts were fantastic, dinner was good, a comfortable bed and a powerful shower. The bathroom was a bit tired and could do with a refresh.
- Pauline (8/5): A friendly village pub, very welcoming with excellent meals provided - A friendly welcome, excellent meals, so good we stayed an extra night Car parking area very small, but extra provided along the road, so not really a problem
- lynne (9/5): - Location was perfect for exploring Wells and surrounding area. Although on the main road we were not disturbed by traffic noise. Very friendly pub with a lot of community spirit. Locals were very welcoming and we were lucky enough to be there for Curry night, very good food.
Not the cheapest place to stay but cosy, comfortable and full of character. It was all great
- Mickeywez (10/5): -
- Lindsey (8/5): Good location, friendly staff and great food. Parking can be difficult . - Breakfast was great and the staff very helpful and welcoming Parking was very limited. Our bed was over firm and uncomfortable
- Michael (8/5): Friendly, clean, comfortable. Good breakfast. Good value for money. - Friendly staff- Friendly pub dog. Good breakfast. Free parking Free wifi. Easy checkin No connection to mobile phone network.
- Robin (3/5): Poor. - No breakfast provided despite checking what time it started. Nobody to pay before first leaving. There were no staff at all by the time I had to leave at 0820. Returned key and paid later in the day and was given a free lunch.
- Jane (7/5): -
- Thomas (8/5): -
- Louise (10/5): Love this place and will be back! - Super comfy beds, delicious food, accommodating locals, friendly staff, welcoming atmosphere, lovely shower with good water pressure. Fantastic find. Lack of parking, only 3 spaces. A local moved their car so I could park though, without me even having to ask, so even that wasn’t a negative! Further parking at a shop a few doors down is available too.
- Carrie-Anne (3/5): Not worth the money. - Free parking Not once was the room attended to. The room was so cold and the heating did not work - this was mentioned twice to staff members and no action was taken. The breakfast was supposed to begin at 8am (included in price) however on one of the mornings there was no chef scheduled until after 8:30am so it was missed. Another morning pre 8am there was bread of toaster left out as promised. It felt like I was given a room and just left to it. I would not recommend or stay again….

- Skippy (10/5): A fantastic hotel with exceptionally friendly staff would not hesitate to return. - A very lovely village pub, with exceptional friendly staff, there was nothing I could fault about my stay. The food was amazing, great selection of ales on the bar, nice clean room with tea and coffee facilities. Will definately be returning soon and can highly reccommend this hotel.
- Kevin (8/5): -
- Lynne (10/5): -
- Anne (9/5): Great hosts in a nice pub - A pub with accommodation and a friendly environment with great hosts who made us feel welcome during our stay and going the extra mile to assist with queries and requests. Nothing to dislike but stairs to accommodation could be an issue for anyone with mobility issues. Worth noting that parking for cars is limited.
- Anthony (9/5): - The accommodation was excellent. Large comfortable bed, large bathroom with powerful shower. The evening meal was excellent, as was breakfast.
However, the real stars of the show are the hosts, Peter and Verenay. Super interesting life histories but also interested in our life stories too. They are very welcoming and the most friendly hosts I’ve ever encountered.
Locals are very entertaining, and it is clear that this small village pub provides more than just food and drink. It is the hub of the village, providing morning newspapers for locals and guests, plus vital provisions like bread milk and eggs (locally sourced). There is no village store.
We will certainly be revisiting this hostelry, hopefully in the summer as the outdoors area is spectacular. Nothing I did not like. It's a very small, quiet village, but that's not always a minus.
- Karen (9/5): Peter, Veryan and their staff and food all of the best - Meals at The George were delicious and breakfast was one of the best I've had. Nothing
- Jill (10/5): Seriously cute place to stay!! - Cute place, yummy breakfast! Nothing
- Liam (9/5): Great non corporate pub - Location was central to what I wanted, food was great. I understand it's an old pub and the owners have no option to increase, but the size of and access to the parking area was not ideal.
- Ian (10/5): - Welcoming staff and comfortable room with good food
- Oliver (9/5): -
- Liz (8/5): -
- Matthew (10/5): -
- Caroline (10/5): Used The George for a 2 night stopover on a road trip - fabulous food, lovely staff and very comfy room - Excellent all round Nothing

- victoria (5/5): Would have thought it would be better. - It was ok. The facilities not that great…
- Dafydd (8/5): - As pubs go as places to stay it was great. Very friendly people. Car parking was not easy.
- Natalie (9/5): -

Als we weer in Somerset zijn komen we zeker terug
- David (9/5): -
- Mary (9/5): Excellent place to stay. - Very friendly staff and good food. The breakfast was excellent, so also evening meals. Top quality local ingredients well-prepared. Obviously the location on a busy road meant that you could hear the traffic. The bathroom was quite compact. There wasn't a lot of room to put things when washing/ showering.
- Luise (10/5): Lovely break - Very nice breakfast and coffee
Friendliness of owners and customers of The George Inn and dogs!
- John (8/5): As expected - Good. Loft room was noisy.
- Bella (10/5): -
- Denise (8/5): - A friendly village pub which seemed to double as the village shop too, selling newspapers, milk bread etc
Very tasty steak and chips and a bonus free glass of Prosecco as it was my birthday
Friendly locals chatting with people staying there
Our room was in the attic and very quirky, which we liked The parking was a bit difficult, as the pub is situated on a bend in the busy main road through the village, there were a few parking spaces at the front and there was another area a little further down the road to use as well. We always managed to get parked though
- Julie (8/5): -
- John (7/5): - Great, amenable staff, nice food.
- Joanne (10/5): Warm welcome friendly staff go above and beyond highly recommended - Warm and welcoming Nothing
- Mary (9/5): A few days away - The food excellent the breakfast was good value for money , the host and staff were helpful and pleasant
- Raymond (9/5): Very pleasant stay and welcoming atmosphere. - Overall plus was the warm welcome and friendliness of the landlord and landlady and the atmosphere of the pub. Nothing really?
- Sean (9/5): Friendly owner, excellent room, nice village. - Very friendly owner and excellent room. Food in the evening was good (even though they are/were advertising for a chef) and overall feel of the pub was relaxed and friendly. Quiet and pretty village and although the pub is next to a busy main road, it became nicely quiet after dark - don't let the road put you off! Would definitely recommend staying here. Nothing - enjoyed the stay.
- Rennocks (9/5): -
- Robert (9/5): -
- Dafydd (8/5): Ideal for a stopover/business trip - Parking is tight
- juliet (10/5): A lovely stay in a welcoming pub with excellent food - A typical English village pub with a garden, good food and lovely staff
