We have a 24-hour reception so do not hesitate to write to us with any questions. During your stay you can ask us for extra blankets, hair dryer or clothes iron at reception. You can not smoke in the rooms, balconies or closed areas, only on the terrace. The check-out deadline is at 12:00, if you want to stay longer you can store your belongings in our luggage room and enjoy our common areas or leave and return for them before 9:00 p.m.

The noise from the bar upstairs echoes down and into every room. No recovering from jet lag here, even with earplugs Showers are tiny, uncomfortable and impossible to get dressed in. Lack of hot water and poor drainage.

The fact that you could book a number of tours direct via reception. Bkfst was pretty good. Roberto at the roof top bar was always friendly and myself and some friends really enjoyed our time in his company. There are plenty of showers and toilets and the water is hot and plentiful with a very good pressure. Having the beds remade each day was also a nice touch. Nothing, very happy with everything.

- Christine (9/5): Great people and great service in Santiago - This hostel was well located near the Lastarria neighbourhood and in proxmity to public transit. Rooms were as advertised and the range of facilities are really good for travellers! The team at reception was always very attentive and able to organise taxis and give advice. Christian is an absolute superstar at reception. He speaks very warmly to everyone who enters and is always willing to give genuine advice and help to everyone. He's a definite asset to Merced 88. I stayed here on my first layover in Santiago, and I had planned to try another hostel on my return, but I cancelled that to return the Merced 88 because it had everything I needed. Don't forget to check out and enjoy the rooftop!

The terrace is a great spot to hang-out & sociliase with other guests & stuff. Unfortunately, the state of toilets and showers is great. The bathrooms are quite tight in space and smelly. Also, the showers do not seem clean, there are signs of limescale, and the smell is not pleasant. There was also lack of toilet paper in one of the days of my stay.

- Zi Bei (9/5): Great location - The location is excellent—right in front of Piazza Italia and within walking distance to many attractions, including the riverfront, parks, museums, churches, and the fish market. During my stay, there was a nearby protest. Even being on the rooftop and indoors, tear gas and pepper spray affected the air, making it hard to keep eyes open, and many people were coughing and sneezing. One downside: the 4-bed female dorm does not have a private bathroom; you need to use the shared facilities outside.

Overall, the photos of the hostel do not match its current condition. While it's close to many good areas, the street where the hostel is is extremely loud (surrounded by only big streets), and it's hard to sleep at night.

El staff es buenisimo y le ponen mucha onda todos y constantemente estan limpiando. Esta bastante descuidado en algunos aspectos, probablemente porque es muy grande y albergan a mucha gente. Se nota que necesita una renovación de muchas cosas, todos los cubiertos en la cocina son viejos, los cuchillos no cortan, las sartenes estan destruidas, algunas puertas de habitaciones no cierran.

- PAMELA (9/5): ¡Tremendo dato de Hostel! - La amabilidad del personal es buenísima, son muy atentos con todos y siempre están disponibles a ayudar y hacer de la estancia una mejor experiencia. ¡Son de estos lugares que tienen las 3B!, es un excelente lugar si andas de viaje, ya que puedes dejar tus cosas en la habitación (debes traer tu candado), las camas son cómodas y sábanas limpias, no pase nada de frío. Las habitaciones tienen un estilo simple pero moderno y lo más importante es que esta todo limpio y los baños también (compartidos), el agua de la ducha tiene buena presión y sale calentita. Recomendado totalmente.

La ubicación me parece buena también, cerca de todo. Un poco las camas, si te toca dormir arriba se mueve mucho y la escalera también.

- Roy (9/5): Gewoon echt een lekkere plek! Ook leuk om andere mensen te ontmoeten. - De ruime kamers en de sociale ruimtes. Medewerkers Malik en Eric zijn te gek! De badkamer is wat oud, maar functioneert prima.
- Santiago (10/5): Excelente estadía para un par de días en Santiago - La terraza es muy amena y el espacio de cowork esta bien equipado y es muy útil para trabajar mientras se viaja. Podrían hacer un mejor trabajo en crear espacios y dinamicas para que los huespedes puedan interactuar más, si así lo desean

- Yevheniia (10/5): Excellent hostel, very clean, exceptional stuff and great facilities. Stayed there for a month and would come back for m - Amazing!!! I absolutely loved this hostel. I was staying in Santiago for around a month, and ended up not changing this hostel to anything else. I can highlight the cleaning service – they treat it as a hotel, so the stuff changes your bed every day, the bathrooms and common areas were always clean. I also cannot recommend the stuff – people who work at Merced are just the best! I want to highlight their receptionist Christian, throughout the whole stay he was always extremely helpful to everyone. In my time there I experienced staying in two rooms: one 4-bed female one and a 4-bed mixed one – both were great, even tho the female one I can recommend better. The people who stayed in the hostel were amazing too, many interesting international people. Even tho this is not a “party hostel”, you still can have fun if you want by attending their rooftop bar that works every night - BUT it was never too noisy. They also have a small gym and a big coworking room – both free to use! The kitchen was also big enough. Overall, I cannot recommend more Merced 88. I am sure the experience can be different depending on a room too, but everything in a span of a month was beyond satisfying for me. Make this your next stay in Santiago! The only problem was the showers – they leak every time someone uses them, so the floor was flooded. It didn’t bother me much, but it adds a lot of work to the cleaning stuff. I hope they can fix those soon.
- Angela Maria (10/5): - Muy hermoso el lugar, una casa antigua, refaccionada con mucho estilo y unos murales preciosos, buen punto en Santiago, me recibió Malik (creo que así es su nombre "el alemán") hermoso él, muy amable, a disposición, me recomendó qué hacer, me ayudó con las maletas, excelente! Por la.tarde estaba Cristian, también muy amable! Y por la noche subí al bar atiende Eric, un amor! Y por la mañana estaba Manu, también, me sirvió el desayuno fue muy amable! Gracias por esta experiencia! Sin duda volveré y recomendaré! Gracias! .
