Bâtiment magnifique avec un restaurant d'assez bonne qualité en bord de mer. Directeur très efficace Chambre gigantesque sans aucun attrait. Pas de lumière du jour, pas de lumière pour lire au lit. Salle de douche très récente mais pas ou mal finie... le crochet tombe par terre quand on attrape la serviette et surtout douche immense en marbre sans aucune sécurité au sol ce qui m'a valu une fracture du col du fémur .

- Lankau (5/5): Pretty but creepy man works there! - Beautiful room, beautiful decor, well located A man who worked at the hotel restaurant was totally creepy to me. Repeatedly asked me my room number, asked if I was single, and offered to bring my check to my room. Very unprofessional. When i told the manager he tried to have me confront this man myself. Later he brought me fruit and said the guy didn’t speak English well so that was his excuse… he spoke English pretty well to me. It’s really a shame because the rest of the hotel was beautiful
- Louise Loves to Travel (1/5): We came away with bedbugs - The room was lovely. But coming away with bedbugs ruined our experience of staying at this hotel. I need to warn people about the risk of getting bedbugs here. We stayed in room 113 and were bitten by bedbugs. Despite our best efforts we did not manage to get rid of them through our trip in India and have now brought them home and need to pay a large amount of money for treatment. We informed Martin at the time and we asked for a discount of one night as compensation. He checked with the manager, who said they would not do this. Of course, really they should be paying for the full cost of the treatment. Based on the response, I did not feel that the management took us seriously and I don't think that they will be treating the room. So be aware, if you come away from this hotel with lines of three incredibly itchy bites, it will cost you and you will not get reimbursed! Also to note, this was the first hotel of our trip to India so it was definitely here that we picked them up. I have attached photos of the bites, taken at the time.
- Aqila (8/5): A great place to stay…will revisit - I stayed in the sea view suite.All the suites and the rooms are spacious and the view from each one of them is amazing(they did give me a tour of all rooms and the property which has lots of antiques for sale).Each one is unique.It is located very close to the synagogue.and is easily accessible.The owner and the staff were very polite and were able to ease out even the smallest of inconveniences. The Food!!!If you are a South Indian who has eaten Kerala food all through your life…you will know…

Martin in reception could not have been more helpful, ensuring we were comfortable and arranging our day trip on the backwaters. The owner, Manu, is passionate about ensuring his guests have the best stay possible. Nothing. After a month in India staying in many different standards of accommodation, this was a perfect end to our holiday.

- Gerhard (9/5): Wie im alten Indien - Das Hotel erhält von uns die volle 10, einschl. dem Frühstücksservice im Restaurant welches um diese Uhrzeit augenscheinlich den Hotelgästen vorbehalten ist. Das Frühstück war sehr gut und umfangreich. Zusätzliche Bestellungen immer möglich. Das Restaurant zu seinen "normalen" Öffnungszeiten. Wir sind nicht von der Kleider machen Leute Fraktion, wodurch wir am ersten Nachmittag kaum eines Blickes gewürdigt und "etwas" herablassend behandelt wurden. Als die Kellner mitbekamen welches Zimmer wir hatten wurden wir am Abend äusserst zuvorkommend bedient. Das Essen war o.k., mehr aber auch nicht. Teilweise lag vor allem im hinteren Bereich Müll etc. direkt unter den Tischen. Optisch passt das Restaurant zum Hotel, qualitativ eher nicht.

Located in Jewtown which is lovely. Only 100INR tuk tuk ride to the fort. There wasn’t any water available other than plastic bottles. Would be great if there was a large filtered water container on each floor.

A huge bed that feels like you are in a palace. The owner and staff were so helpful and made us feel so welcome. Breakfast was delicious and you can watch the boats go by. The bathroom is Hollywood glamour and has a very powerful shower. We did not swim in the pool but it looked lovely. If you are looking for a truly unique and luxurious stay - this is it! - Graham (10/5): A unique experience in Fort Cochi - A really special and unique place to stay in the heart of Jew Town, Fort Cochi. The staff here were amazing and we were made to feel particularly welcome by ‘marvellous Martin’ who couldn’t do enough for us. Room was luxurious and the little pool on the roof was a welcome addition. Great breakfast which was literally a ‘best of’ Keralan breakfasts in one go! Evening meal options in restaurant were relatively limited with too many of the local Kerala options served as complete meals rather than as separate items.

- Mark (10/5): They'll have to call me El Presidente from now on! - There was a problem with our reserved room (a leak) so we were upgraded to the Presidential Suite (which I had wanted to book in the first place, but the missus told me not to be a poser). The suite was amazing. It would have only cost a few £s more than the sea view suite we had booked, but well, well worth the difference Don't hesitate to splash out. It's absolutely astounding and exceptionally good value. Enormous and beautifully furnished. Breakfast was very good with excellent coffee (something of a rarity in Kerala despite the nearby coffee plantations). We also had a lunch and that was very good too. I think the restaurant only gets a 4.1 rating on Google, which strikes me as a bit on the low side. The rooftop pool area is a little run down and could do with an facelift. The pool was full of dead insects, but I guess that's always going to be a problem in this location.

The hotel is actually part of a vast antique shop and has bags of unique items and furniture scattered about. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant faces directly over the water with fabulous views across the harbour The pool area was rather sketchy with only one umbrella and a few scattered loungers and chairs.

The food at the restaurant is very decent. Jew Town is an interesting part of the island, close to the wall murals at Mattancherry that are definitely worth a visit.

- Orest (8/5): Schönes Hotel mit mehreren Schwächen, die den ersten Eindruck trüben. - Sehr schöne Lage direkt am Wasser, überwältigend prunkvolle Zimmer mit passender Möblierung, nettes Restaurant, sehr bemühter, freundlicher Service. Bis auf die 4 Suiten bekommen die Zimmer fast kein Tageslicht. Von Aussicht ganz zu schweigen. Man blickt durch verschlossene und durch dicke Holzbalken gesicherte Fenster auf einer Mauer in 60 cm Entfernung. Ein sehr schönes Restaurant, aber die Qualität überzeugt nicht. Außer den prunkvollen Zimmern ist alles andere höchstens auf 4*-Niveau. Dafür ist es allerdings deutlich zu teuer!!

- BEATRICE (10/5): - L'équipe était vraiment, vraiment adorable. J'ai été traitée comme une princesse. Et l'établissement est tout simplement magnifique et idéalement situé. Ca sera mon point de chute lors de mes prochains passage. Rien de la part de l'hôtel. Il est juste regrettable que la mer ne soit pas plus propre. Il en provient des relents dont on se passerait volontiers.

- Eja (10/5): - Ginger House is an exceptional hotel. Interesting and exciting interiors, a collection of antiques and handcrafted furniture and decorations. The staff is very friendly and the manager took very good care of our family of six, as well as the owner. We switched rooms half way, of our stay, and all the rooms are unique and very inspiring.

- Candice (9/5): - The staff - WOW. What a brilliant welcome and send-off. Would come back for the service alone! The room was spacious, clean and with lovely views out onto the water, and a little garden area in front where we could relax. We chose this hotel for the pool (yay in the hot weather) and the quirkiness given the museum attachment. We also ate at the attached restaurant which was superb and far better than some of the online reviews give it credit for. This was our last night in Fort Cochin and we wanted to relax and chill before starting our journey home. The Ginger House was perfect for that. Right in the middle of the jewish quarter - perfect for last minute souvenir shopping.

They couldn’t do enough for you , The hotel is in a great location for mooching around the streets of Kochin. Because it’s on the waterfront there can be a malodour . The food was fantastic too. Breakfast portion size keeps you going all day. I had the presidential suite on my stay and it is by far the best room I've ever stayed in and the bed was so comfy I didn't want to leave.. Incredible value for money. I loved this place and would 100% come back. I can't list a single thing!

The staff were extremely attentive and friendly. Beautiful water views from the hotel restaurant with birds, ferries and fishermen. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Quirky and interesting surroundings with antiques avaiable to buy. Authentic and relaxing Indian experience with a happy and chilled vibe.

Sehr freundliches und hilfsbereites Personal. Frühstück und Abendessen waren abwechslungsreich und ausgezeichnet! Sehr zu empfehlen.

We enjoyed our time in the hotel. Pool also great! One small point to fix is the power sockets in our room. They were a little loose.

Das Personal, insbesondere Martin, ist sehr zuvorkommend und hat uns jeden Wunsch von den Augen abgelesen. Das Essen ist gut und sehr sauber zubereitet, also alles ist für jeden bedenkenlos essbar. Auf Nachfrage wurde für uns sogar extra eine traditionelle Sadhya auf dem Bananenblatt zubereitet, welche hervorragend war. Yoga und Massage sind auch sehr empfehlenswert. Wir würden jederzeit sofort wieder kommen.
