Guest Reviews
- Marco (10/5): Thank you Mrs. Janey for this wonderful time.
We travelled with our dog and had a fantastic time at Ockhams Farm. The farm is surrounded by vast pastures where sheep graze peacefully. A small lake and an enchanting forest are nearby. There are also good options for day trips; Hever Castle with its magnificent parkland is not far away. Zeitweise gab es, je nachdem wie der Wind stand, Fluglärm.
At times, depending on the wind direction, there was aircraft noise.
- Lindsey (10/5): Thank you! - Lovely cottage! Clean and perfect for our group. Very rural and quiet which was great. Communication with the owners was very good as were directions on how to get there. Welcome was lovely. Nothing. The road humps on the lane access could have done with being marked but were visible at night.

- Elizabeth (7/5): Fantastic and just what was needed for our weekend - location lovely with lots of walks nearby
Lovely to have a welcome pack
Friendly host Property felt a little damp on arrival
- Bridget (9/5): A perfect, relaxing weekend for our family. - Beautiful location, wonderful wildlife. Very quiet and restful - exactly what we were looking for. Easily accommodated five adults. Plenty of options for exploring beyond Edenbridge.
- Daniel (9/5): -
- Sharon (9/5): - Beautiful location so quiet and peaceful wonderful old cottage/house quaint beams good outdoor seating area perfect just what we needed Nothing it was lovely
- Carolyn (8/5): Short break in lovely area of Kent - Spacious old style farm building. Comfortable beds. Plenty of bathrooms. Lovely views in the middle of the countryside with walks well signposted from the doorstep.
Short drive to Edenbridge and several lovely places to visit, including many National Trust properties.
Excellent welcome pack! Outdoor furniture not able to use, as not in good condition.
- Christopher (10/5): Comfy old-school charm - Very comfy, convenient, friendly owners, plenty of room
- Dorothy (3/5): Behind the times, nothing up to date - Good location for peace and quiet Not clean, poorly furnished, food offered was half used butter, half jars of jam and marmalade
- Sean (8/5): Very good - Rural location quiet at night, but near to centre of Edenbridge. .
- Jan (9/5): Cost country cottage located in a lovely rural location with accommodating hosts. - Cosy accommodation with great views over green fields and countryside with public bridlepaths for long walks.
The hosts were very accommodating as our party included 2 dogs and a cat.
Great place to relax and get away from everything.
Generous parking. Access road is single track and in need of a bit of TLC. Internet could be a slow at times for home working.
- Susan (9/5): A comfortable, quiet stay in a traditional farmhouse that has been upgraded with all the mod cons - Our host had left us milk, bread and eggs, which we weren't expecting but for which we were grateful.
Amazing views across the fields from the windows. If the weather hadn't been so wet, it would have been wonderful to explore the footpaths and bridle paths.
The farm is well off the beaten track and SO quiet. Can really recommend it for a restful location, to do painting or walking. The lane to the property is literally a track that has 5 sets of aggressive "sleeping policemen". Although we had been warned of these, they were not apparent at first, because the markers were either partially hidden in the undergrowth or the paint on them had worn off. We were glad we had come during the daylight! But we got used to them very quickly.
- Dhruti (10/5): Great stay in gorgeous old farmhouse - I loved staying in this property so much.
It is a really old farmhouse. It feels lovely inside. All the rooms are spacious. The view from the garden / house is stunning, and you are able to walk from the door into really beautiful countryside. There are sheep just next to the garden.
There are three bedrooms and three bathrooms so we all had our own en suite! The owner was so kind and left us fresh eggs from the farm as well as bread and butter and tea and milk. The downstairs bathroom could do with updating.
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Viv (9/5): Superb -
- Fiona (7/5): A pleasant stay for a few nights. - It was really in the country so away from everything and easy to drive to from the Eurotunnel exit at Folkstone. The farmhouse had character and plenty of space for the four of us. It was also nice to be able to sit outside and have a drink as the weather was rather nice when we were stying at Ockham's. We wanted to visit Chartwell and Hever Castle so the location was perfect. The owner was very welcoming and friendly; she'd also left us some bread, milk, eggs (fresh!) and butter, which was kind. There was also ice in the freezer which was great! There was a lot of food left in the refrigerator, cupboards and freezer from previous guests.
- Laura (9/5): Lovely stay in the Kent countryside in a characterful cottage with a view! - The house is tastefully decorated, with a real "personal touch", and comfortable. It has three bathrooms, a well-equipped kitchen and an enclosed garden (for the dog). The owner is very nice and makes sure that essential groceries are available (bread, butter, eggs, jam, milk, cereals, coffee, tea, etc.). The location with regard to sightseeing is very convenient (Leeds Castle, Hever Castle, Knole, Canterbury etc.). You can also take beautiful walks directly from the house. I can't really think of anything - it's good to know though that because it is an old house, there are some low beams and doorways. We hope to come back for a longer stay!
- Romilly (10/5): Warmest of welcomes in a countryside location. - Very warm welcome and generous welcome pack including fresh farm eggs. Ideal location for a relaxing stay in a countryside location close to the London suburbs. Felt like stepping back in time. Our hosts were keen to make our stay as enjoyable as possible, and, for example, knowing that we had spent a long day at a friend’s wedding, thoughtfully offered us a later checkout on our day of departure. Nothing.
- Sim (9/5): Superb - The setting and location House was chilly
- Urszula (7/5): We would recommend to others who can managed steep stairs, and have a car. We stayed 4 for 2 days - The location was fantastic. You needed a car to get there directions very good. Wifi not great but we didn't really use it during our stay See comment about WiFi.
High chair needs updating.
Everything is dated but charming.
- Angela (8/5): Very good -
- Ian (10/5): We would highly recommend Ockhams Farm Guest House. - The hosts were very welcoming and the welcome package was much appreciated. We enjoyed a wonderful reunion with our friends and spent a lot of time in the bright kitchen enjoying meals.
- Kevin (9/5): Very helpful people - Nice area
- Wendy (9/5): Cosy and very welcoming. - Fabulously located in the countryside, this is an older farm cottage with all that entails - it is clean, very cosy, with exceptionally comfortable beds and a nice large kitchen equipped with very nearly everything, but also has sloping and creaking floorboards and a downstairs bathroom with a less-than-tight-closing door that is about two feet from the dining table, for example (fortunately there are two further bathrooms upstairs). The host is an absolute darling, and provided us with fresh milk, bread, butter and eggs from her own chickens. My family spent a wonderful few days here over Christmas, enjoying each others' company and going for long walks. For us, it was perfect. Unfortunately, there is no pub within reasonable walking distance, but that is of course not the host's fault!
- Rebecca (9/5): Superb - Location superb. It is a rustic farm cottage in the countryside so expect a few bugs and as you expect a country cottage to be; but was spotlessly clean, well stocked and plenty of space. Extremely friendly and helpful owners. I would recommend and would be happy to stay there again. Nothing to dislike.
- Juliajulia (1/5): Bad - Good location We were shocked on arrival at the poor condition of the property and the state of the bathrooms which need complete renovation. One shower door was off the hinges and there was mould and thick limescale on the taps and shower heads. The shower trays didn’t drain and the plug holes were filthy. I took photographs as it was so bad. When we woke on our first morning we found that mice had been in the kitchen and had destroyed packets of.cereals which were spilled onto the floor. There were mice droppings over the surfaces and floor. We bought some Mouse Killer Grain Bait and put all foodstuffs into tins and placed them in the cupboards and disinfected all the surfaces. The sofa and dining chairs were dirty and stained.
- Andrea (5/5): Despite everything, we felt comfortable there, but only with a maximum of 4 people again. - Outstanding, quiet location, landing approaches to Gatwick Airport didn't bother us, and there was also a ban on night flights. The landlord family received us very friendly, we got fresh eggs and milk, which we didn't expect. Also during the stay with words and deeds to the side. Having visited England a number of times we are very familiar with the local standards, however the bathrooms could use a makeover in time. We were there with 2 families with a total of 6 people. The children were in their teens. We only recommend this house for 4 people because the bathroom including the toilet on the ground floor can only be used to a limited extent because it is right next to the dining table. Sharing two bathrooms with 6 people proved to be a challenge.
The access road to the property is not recommended for lowered sports cars. But we had a van and therefore no problems.
The wifi was temporarily overloaded with 6 users
- Clare (8/5): A lovely stay in the heart of the beautiful, unspoilt & quiet Kentish countryside. - Janey was very kind & provided farm fresh free range eggs, bread, cereal, butter & milk for breakfast, which was greatly appreciated. Janey was also very helpful with any query.
- Tracy (10/5): Exceptional - Set in idyllic surroundings, the house is really comfortable and well equipped. Spacious yet very cosy, a real home from home.
The owner Janey makes sure you have everything you need. We really appreciated the breakfast essentials she left for us. Having three bathrooms with plentiful hot water was perfect for us getting ready for a family wedding in Penshurst.
Can't fault it, and would love to return someday to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Thank you! I liked everything.
- Jesse (10/5): warm, cosy, great walks - fantastic location, great surrounding areas for dog walking, close to Edenbridge, cosy and warm, great kitchen views!
wonderful hosts.
- Malcolm (10/5): Great! - It felt like a home from home, without the builders. Our host made us feel relaxed and this helped us re-energise for when we returned to the building work at home. Nothing
- Kate (8/5): Very good -
- Kirsty (9/5): Comfortable farm cottage in a peaceful location - We each had our own bathroom which was great. Lovely views from the bedrooms. Great walking and close to some nice villages and attractions.
Janey is a fantastic host! Could do with a slightly better pre-clean - oven and a few cobwebs here and there but Janey went out of her way to correct it
- Leanna (7/5): Good -
