Guest Reviews
- Christian (6/5): - Nice rooms, restaurant a disaster.
- Julio Gustavo (10/5): - Schöne Tage da
- John (10/5): - Nice location.
- Jean (10/5): - Lovely traditional German guest house. Staff were so pleasant and helpful. A special mention to the lady who served at breakfast.
- Wolfgang Gerhard (8/5): - Guter preisgünstiger 4 Sterne Standard
Gutes Frühstücksangebot
- Mark (10/5): - Quiet, great breakfast
- Nomad276257 (4/5): German speaking only, error in bill, don't recommend this place - Great welcome upon arrival. Although not written down, receptionist accepted accommodation price aligned to offer I had from booking.com (112 eur breakfast included). That was our first mistake. Dinner option available after 8pm which was really appreciated. Prompt service. We asked for the dinner to be added to the room ...without checking the details of the bill. That was our 2nd error.
In the morning, at breakfast, on top of the buffet, the receptionist who is also responsible for the breakfast room checked with all German speaking if they wished any eggs... This wasn't offered at our table. We noticed... but decided not to comment.
At time of check out, the bill being ready, we realised that
1. the wine we ordered was billed 46 eur instead of 33. Since the bill was raised, the receptionist suggested to pay the difference back in cash, which was ok.
2. the applied room rate was the standard price 125eur breakfast included instead of the 112 which had been agreed upon arrival. The receptionist first offered to call up and check with the receptionist we had agreed the deal with but when I described the receptionist so she would know who to call, she suddenly threatened to call up the police raising up her voice making everyone around believe we tried not to pay!
We paid of course. We travel a lot for business and for private, but never, we felt that bad when leaving the place. It had all been agreed but we should not have trusted.
My advice, if you stop in this place, make sure all consumptions and agreed prices are confirmed in writing. Booking.com is definitely a better option for the reservation. And if you don't speak German or you have poor German, I'd rather recommend to opt for another hotel. There are many in the region.
- Juergen (8/5): Einwandfrei - Schönes Hotel, Zimmer ebenso und sehr sauber. Gutes Frühstück und einwandfreier Service. Würde ich wieder buchen
- StaleV_11 (4/5): Not worth 4 stars and 200€! - I sometimes end up staying here, but this time they charged 200€ for a room taken out of the 1980s with a single bed and way too small bed cover. If you are 1.90m you have the choice between freezing on the feet or the chest. In the end my conclusion became to sleep with socks on. And please give me a real pillow and not a synthetic thin one serving no purpose. And i know that hard beds last longer, but makes you sleep less. Felt like some kind of wooden prison cell. For 75€ i may accept all of the above, but not for 200€
- Mikael (8/5): Stay there - Very calm and reliable hotel, a smaller business hotel with a personal touch.
- Mayo4sam20 (6/5): Good hotel, great restaurant, friendly and helpful staff - Stay here on occasion for business travel. Nice quaint hotel with a great restaurant.
Small car park, sometimes full.
Very helpful staff, English speaking. Rooms are a little dated but clean and spacious.
Several restaurants and shops within walking distance and S Bahn is a 10min stroll.
- NewMaldenFlyer (4/5): Idiotic rules and staff - Ten of us just finished dinner here tonight. Spent quite a bit of money. We’d like to have the bill divided by ten and put on our rooms please, because we’re on expenses and that’s how the company likes it. Restaurant staff completely astonished by this outrageous request and flatly refuse to do it. No, we must one by one tell them what each of us ordered individually and they will one by one leave the room and go to the till and come back with our individual bills to sign. The customer is always wrong it seems. So we spend half an hour going through this ridiculous process. Unsurprisingly no tips.
- Kitt (10/5): - It was so quaint. Loved it. We were there during the week and there werent many others there so it was quiet. If you’re looking for German charm, this is the place. They don’t have air conditioning but the nights were cool so we could leave the windows open all night. It was August. There was an ice cream place down the street and we went every night. They also have free parking and breakfast but it’s not included. It’s a bit older and maybe could use an update here and there but we really enjoyed our stay!!!
- 130gabrielo (6/5): Practical and convenient - Traditional hotel with reasonable standard, convenient location. Nothing exceptional and breakfast a bit disappointing for today's standards. I wouldn't stay for private. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
- Ari_J_To (10/5): Nice Bavarian hotel close to Munich - Hotel Limmerhof is a nice hotel close to Munich (about 12 km south from city center) in small village Taufkirchen. Rooms are decorated in classic Bavarian style, clean and quiet. Very good breakfast and in restaurant is available Bavarian sytle of food. A nice environment for business as well as for family travelers.
- CR1285 (10/5): European Adventure - I work with Hibernian Ladies Football Club and we had the pleasure of staying here with the squad for 3 nights in October in preparation for our game with Bayern Munich.
We were a group of 28 players and staff and collectively we have only positive feedback for the hotel.
The rooms were clean and comfortable and ideal for what we needed.
The food was excellent and catered for our every need.
We required a meeting room each day also which was prepared in advance and gave us everything we needed.
The real beauty of this lovely hotel though was definitely the staff. They could not have been more helpful. They looked after us so well and left a very positive impression.
Thanks to everyone who works at the hotel for making our stay so special and helping us to prepare for a very difficult game in the Champions League.

- GWHAM (4/5): Very classic.... - I dont know when this hotel deserved 4 stars but it must have been long times ago. Its in this classic tacky wood. Service also is questionable....not at todays standard. Here in my opinion a huge refresh is required.
- msM2853GV (8/5): Very fair price - I Payed 75 € per night including breakfast. The furniture in my room were old, and I did not like the style, but everything was perfectly clean. The fridge of the minibar was not working and the TV very small with bad picture quality. The breakfast was OK. However for 75 € it is a good option if you stay only one or two nights.
- YavuzK_13 (2/5): The worst experience ever with racist hotel owner - My company booked me to stay in this so called 4 star hotel for duration of 4 nights for business. They claim to have wifi internet working in all the rooms. When I checked in, I quickly found out that not only wifi internet did not work, but also fridge was not working in the room as well. I asked hotel reception to see if they can help, but the other rooms they showed me on the top floor were even worse. I was not happy but could not do anything that night. I was told that in the morning I could move into a room closer to the reception area, which should have a working wifi internet. I agreed. When I checked in, I was not asked to produce my passport. In the morning I got to the reception to ask for change of the rooms, but the hotel owner old lady was very unpleasant and with a racist look on her face, she basically kicked me out of the hotel. She also asked me to give her my passport. I never felt this bad in my life in any other hotel I stayed in the world. I hope this review helps someone to stay away from this place.
- HashemKosara (10/5): Warm Hotel, excellent location and friendly staff. - We stayed one night in this traditional hotel for Oktoberfest trip. The room was clean and comfortable, Staff were so friendly with smile, breakfast was good. So easy to get to the city center with S-Bahn which is located only 5 min walking from the hotel.
Good Value.
- johnmC5186IK (10/5): great hotel in Taufkirchen (Munich) - We stayed in this large traditional gosthaus in Taufkirchen in outskirts of Munich for business trip. Very conveniently located near S-Bahn (5 minute walk) with convenient (23 minute) ride to historic center (S3 line). Also convenient to MUC airport via S3 + S8 (change train in Munich Ost station), takes about an hour for less than Euro 5. Rooms were spacious, clean, comfortable, and well-appointed. Good value.
- millionmilerflyer (4/5): You will be the cash cow in a cash-cow operation - Was there for a corporate workshop and felt it was a sub-par experience.
The last refresh of this hotel must have been in the 90's. Everything is worn and you see it. Color on banister's, furniture, you name it. This hotel is in money safe mode and you feel it. I am not agreeing with what other reviewers, lack of knowledge, call a "Bavarian experience", or "great country" hotel. It may have been just that about 15 years ago, but it is not anymore. This property is a cash-cow and it is apparent. I have mentioned the rooms and overall appearance. Service is run by apprentices with little training or ideas of what they are doing. I ordered fried eggs for breakfast and had to wait 25 minutes to get them. The other day breakfast was very busy (did not order eggs for lack of time), but now the place was filled with people who did not have a shower in the morning, so that cut appetite to a minimum anyway.
I met housekeeping a couple of times on the floor and they did not even great guests.
The seminar rooms were untidy and chairs had stains and worn spots. Boards still had the cards of the previous customer on it (great, so you can copy their strategy). The first projector we rented had a lamp just before burnout, the second one had no software updates done since purchase and needed a forced restart after every break.
The towel baskets in the public washrooms were overflowing with paper towels, apparently not emptied; and there is clearly no quality system in place (cleaning log, etc).
My conclusion: Don't go there.
- Lymphada (6/5): Typical rural Bavarian.....needs a refresh - Stayed here for 2 nights on a business trip. I have stayed here before at this family owned hotel.
It is a very Bavarian experience but over the years, the decor, rooms and towels! Have become tired. On the point of bathroom towels...forget luxuriant soft absorbent cotten....think scratchy thin small sand paper. Time to buy some new linen I think!
The rooms are basic but very clean. The foyer and dining areas are pine wood rural with the typical Bavarian stubl feel about them.
My biggest criticism is the food. We ate in the restaurant one night. In the past the food was excellent...this time it was sub standard.
My roast pork was very dry and the knödel was flavorless and watery. No seasoning.
A Reasonable price but not quite up to it's old standard.
- ca_lovers (8/5): Off centre Hotel - This is a good place if you have transportation on your own or prefer the quiet surroundings better than a busy city center hotel. Typical style hotel, family owned. Friendly service. Good choice for off site team meetings as well. Restaurant serves good food, but the service could be a bit up tempo. Drive to airport is close to an hour and costs about € 100 in a taxi. Rooms are spacious, still carpet on floor. Just fyi no lamp bulb that I saw was an energy saving one.
- Sam651 (10/5): Great country hotel - The last I stayed at the Limmerhof was 12 years ago & nothing has changed. This hotel is well maintained & is very charming. The staff are friendly & helpful. It's a good value as long as it's not Octoberfest. Breakfast is 10 euro.
- HenryHoolihan (8/5): reasonably priced, well placed for city centre, worth considering - After an 11 hour trip from Calais by car we were wondering what to expect given the conflicting reviews on T.A.(some of which are quite dated now) and to be fair we were pleasantly surprised. The lady on reception was expecting us and we had access to the rooms at 11a.m without issue. Rooms were large and very clean, no issues with them. Water very hot and plentiful and the beds were comfortable. Fitness room was basic but fulfilled our needs, unlimited free wifi. Only negatives I can find, which are quite trivial, there were no tea or coffee making facilities in the room, nor general information leaflets. However despite that, nothing proved too much trouble for the "Chefin" who provided a train timetable and directions. We were there for Oktoberfest and so prices were obviously hiked a little but although breakfast was 10euros extra per day our bill for six adults, three rooms and four nights with breakfast came in at 2100Erous with no unpleasant surprises. We were even gifted a couple of Limmerhof Bier Kruge which was a nice gesture. Breakfast was a bountiful supply of cold meats, salmon and cheese as well as boiled and scrambled eggs, tea and coffee as well as juices. The rolls were crisp and fresh and maybe some of the previous critics have been "uber critical". We ate in the restaurant one evening and all of us had different dishes, turkey escalope, Wiener schnitzel, stew, salmon, half duck and the "Pfefferfanne" and all were extremely satisfied, no bad comments at all from my discerning family. The service was friendly and professional and the wine was slightly expensive but worth the extra few Euros. It was an easy five minute walk to the S bahn station and a 15-20 minute ride to the centre / Oktoberfest. Trains were every 20 minutes. The hotel had both covered and underground parking, all free. Having been ripped off at a hotel in Munich on a previous visit to Oktoberfest, this was a far superior choice and we will certainly be back next year.
