Guest Reviews
- Rachel (10/5): Beautiful and hidden, village oasis. - Beautiful venue, exceptionally peaceful. The hosts were lovely. The studio was well put together and I would recommend a stay here to anyone visiting the area.
- Stacey marie (10/5): - Very easy to find host was lovely an just left us to it can't wait to book again next year thanks so much
- DAVID (8/5): - gpexcellent we have been before and will go again
- Heath (8/5): Great place to stay definitely recommend. - Location was excellent nice and central with places of interest not to far away. Bed was comfortable, pub just down the road although vegan options are very limited which was disappointing. Mildenhall town centre is 20min walk via a nature reserve. If you want somewhere to stay that's central and clean then definitely recommend this and the owner is a lovely lady and knowledgeable of to the area. All though accommodation was good it wasn't what we were expecting.. booked through Booking.com and the picture they use gives the impression you are booking a lodge which is not the case. Please read the accommodation information carefully, although there is a lodge on site the other accommodation we stayed in was a converted cottage adjacent to the main house 2 separate rooms with on suite with shared kitchen. We did speak with the owner as she was on site and she said that this has happened on multiple occasions but it was Booking .com who insist on using the picture.

- Chaseley (5/5): BOOKER BEWARE - The room was very clean and the host was very friendly. I booked via the website which said I had booked a dog friendly lodge with kitchen, en suite bedroom with a small patio..The photos showed just this.
As requested I texted the venue to advise we had 2 dogs. I received a phone on the morning of the booking that the room was not dog friendly and very small. She agreed we could come and were the dogs well behaved because there were people downstairs???
When we arrived we had an upstairs room and a shared kitchen!!
I didn't feel comfortable going downstairs to make a coffee first thing in the morning. The dogs need an early walk and we crept around so as not to disturb anyone.
We had booked for 2 nights. The 2nd night there would be 3 very nice men in the downstairs room.
I explained we couldn't stay. I didn't feel safe. The host explained booking.com allocate the room. The pictures are generic. BOOKER BEWARE. CHECK ON THE CONFIRMATION WHICH ACCOMADATION YOU HAVE BEEN ALLOCATED.
We were totally misled.
- John (7/5): - Location Staff a little can't be bothered.
- Claire (8/5): - Lovely host, great location, clean & easy to find. Thanks so much for the stay at such short notice whilst also accommodating my French Bulldog.
I will be back to stay again.
- Jacqueline (7/5): - Location
Comfy bed Booked appletree cottage was given bell cottage.
Had private en suite but was accessed through communal kitchen which was off putting
- Hannah (10/5): Great trip, lovely cosy cottage, would definitely stay again! -
- Sarah (10/5): -
- Jamie (9/5): -
- Luke (10/5): -
- grady (10/5): Comfortable warm and value for money - Location was good ,it was quiet and very comfortable
Parking good Nothing
- Julie (10/5): - Convenient clean friendly Nothing
- Carley (10/5): - Great place to stay while visiting our son in Mildenhall. Clean and comfy. Nice location..easy access to town and easy parking. Peaceful setting.
- Vicky (7/5): Nice cottage cozy and comfortable - Nice location lovely building
Cosy and warm
Garage parking was a bonus Pillows very worn out
Cups needed washing before using and no tea towel
Loads of wet leaves outside front door made it very slippery (could easily have been cleared)
Unfortunately we was kept awake for the first night due to other guests in opposite cottage talking outside at 2am then 4am
- Melanie (8/5): -
- Gaitree (1/5): Appletree Cottages Nasty - Distance to see my 2 children was perfect. Room was not clean, it's freezing, tried reaching the staff to put the heat on, she was unreachable. The shower was so cramped, the water kept going from warm to freezing to scalding hot. Could never regulate properly
The dishes in the kitchen were dirty and old and cracked. The linens are awful, at one point I noticed the brown blanket what looks like poop. I was disgusted. I had the cottage to myself and friends and my daughter, the door doesn't lock, so we pretty much left our belongings to an unlocked space. Again we could never reach the owner. The kitchen stove was not operational. Tried to reach out to her and no one ever came by.
I booked this place in a hurry, had I seen the reviews before I wouldn't have booked it. All other reviews were on point, the owner simply doesn't care. She's just there to collect and don't take these reviews into account. I will never be going back here for sure. No access to the backyard. Other people were staying in other rooms. I felt very uncomfortable with my door not being able to lock from either the outside nor the inside. Ohhhh the kettle was disgusting on the inside, granted it might be from the calcium buildup but a little vinegar can easily remove that buildup. This clearly shows how nasty this is. Anyway this is first and last time staying here and I hope others read the reviews before booking.
I'm actually surprised that booking.com allows her to book this place.
- Charles (10/5): Lovely place will be back! -
- Taylor (10/5): - Friendly, accomodated our German Shepherd at short notice. Great facilities.
- Kelly (10/5): -
- Paul (10/5): - Dog friendly and person friendly. Great village location, which was perfect for walks.
- Stephen (6/5): - Comfortable bed. The shower runs very hot or cold. Needs attention.
- D (10/5): - Very nice studio next to pub in lovely village. Clean place supplied with everything you need for a comfy stay. Very good contact with owner. Would return again. None
- Aaron (9/5): -
- Carmel (8/5): - Clean apartment, friendly host.
- andrew (8/5): -
- Robert (8/5): A great location for long or short stays and safe parking for motorcycles - Great price and location for what I was doing in the area and a really comfortable bed. I rang the owner before booking and she was very helpfull in discussing options for where my motorbike could be stored overnight. I ended up just keeping it in the front garden outside the room which felt secure as it was well lit and a very quite area. Although my room had an ensuite, It has a very nice shared kitchen directly below my room. Unfortunately the American family downstairs decided to cook a full meal for an hour at 4.30 in the morning. I could hear every single thing they did.
- Fran (8/5): Excellent - The property itself is stunning
Well equipped The pub nearby played music which could be heard inside the property
Parking arrangements
- Roberto (9/5): - Perfect location for my needs. Difficult to regulate water temperature in the shower. May be a problem with the water valve.
- Peter (10/5): -
- LInda (5/5): - Lovely area. Good pubs/restaurants locally. Pretty cottage. Our bedroom was in the roof with very little headroom. We hit our heads many times even though we were careful. Kitchen was shared space.
- JAMES (9/5): -
- John (4/5): -
- Steven (8/5): Small cottage situated convenient for us at the ti - Tight spaces through doors and ceiling impedes in both rooms upstairs. Caught foot on a screw sticking up through carpet, nasty!!
- Manisha (9/5): - We loved this week getaway in august 2025. We were very fortunate with the weather and enjoyed days on the beach and great walks.
We especially enjoyed the local restaurant.
- Down (10/5): - Everything bout it Nothing
- Adam (4/5): Does anyone stay at Appletrees Cottage? - Booked Appletree Cottage, upon arrival was taken to Rose Cottage with no explanation given.
Rose Cottage a delightful cottage, until you realise it's basically a HMO. The first floor was rented out to a nice couple who lived there full time, our area was a bedroom on the ground floor and to access the "private" shower room you had to leave the bedroom, walk through the communal kitchen into the shower room.
There wasn't any privacy, the set up was very bizarre, the shower room door couldn't be locked and the towels provided......well.....hand towels at best.
We stayed during a warm period, the duvet was a thick winter one, no fan or a/c in the room and the window opened onto the pavement, did I mention, Rose Cottage's neighbour was the village pub!
Not what was booked, described or expected.
- Peter (10/5): - It's perfect.
- John (9/5): -
- Charis (10/5): Thankyou for the stay it was amazing will most definitely recommend - Polite and amazing Nothing it was lovely
- Thomas (6/5): - Perfectly quaint little stay with good location and access to other places.
We were unaware that our stay was with a shared kitchen and there was another guest downstairs and he floorboards were very creaky which frustrated the other guest in the building. In addition to this, the bed was not king sized, as advertised.
- c&erose (10/5): Perfect stay in a lovely cottage - We were a family of three, with our adult daughter, staying for two nights for a wedding nearby. We were welcomed by the owner, the two bedroom, two bathroom cottage we stayed in was perfect. The beds were very comfy, bathrooms spotless, and we had a cute little patio with table and chairs for our use. Nothing.
- Kevin (9/5): - Lovely accommodation, and super comfortable. Host was very friendly (but not overly so!) and helpful Nothing
- Neil (9/5): Superb -
- Mathieu (9/5): Lovely cottage near Lakenheath, perfect for travelers with dogs - Loved the location - close to Lakenheath, cozy village feeling with good pub in walking distance. Dog friendly, spotless and comfortable. Easy (street) parking. It's an older property which means lower ceilings. Despite the owner's warnings I still bumped my head a few times. This also makes the shower a bit tricky if you're taller.
- Andrew (10/5): - Great place for short stop over
- Jamie (7/5): Good -
- Tomas (8/5): Very good -
- Lorna (8/5): Lovely stay. - Location is beautiful and perfectly situated for the local Kart track - where my son is racing today. The other thing being the shower, its a nice size but because of the sloping ceiling in the cubicle - couldn't wash hair without whacking elbows , husband is 6ft and struggled more than I did.
- Denese (9/5): Lovely stay, will use again - Great location if you are moving onto Centre Parcs. Lovely stay with everything you need. Very helpful host.
- Christine (10/5): Superb! - Lovely accommodation with everything we needed for a stay with our dogs. Located in such a beautiful spot - we met deer and otters on our evening walk along the banks of the river Lark!
- Patricia (7/5): Good - Location and parking excellent.Lovely village The rubbish bin in kitchen was full.
- David (8/5): - Note there is no washing machine. Also was advertised as a King bed, but was larger but only a Queen size (5ft). Studio was as expected with everything we needed.
- Seel (8/5): Very comfortable -
- Simon (9/5): Superb -
- Holly (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kyle (10/5): Exceptional -
- S (8/5): Good stay with some issues - The images on the Hotels.com did not reflect the cottage we were allocated and it was not clear that we would be sharing a kitchen. We had a private bathroom but had to go through the shared kitchen to reach it. So whilst it was clean and comfortable, we were put off by sharing facilities. Check is advertised as 3pm but had messaged and agreed a 5pm arrival. When we arrived at 4h50 the room was not ready and found areas that had been replastered but not painted. The stay was fine and value for money but on another day, I am sure guest experiences would be better. It was all a little confusing as it was not as advertised.
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Tony (6/5): Cozy and comfortable but noisy - Comfortable room and good bed Walls are paper thin so i could hear the other travellers every word. Low head room in some areas so be careful!
- Yvette (10/5): Exceptional -
- Steffi (9/5): Superb -
- Karen (10/5): - A very charming property with an excellent landlady and landlord who cannot do enough for you. Extremely clean and very quaint.
- Debbie (10/5): Exceptional - Run by a lovely lady and her son very friendly
- Kay (1/5): Shit - The way out The fact we had a newborn baby, when we got there it was cold there was hair on the mattress it was dusty, stunk of cannabis didn’t tell me there was someone living upstairs definitely wouldn’t recommend, the place didn’t warm up and we had to leave at 12am and find somewhere else that was warm for our newborn.
- Albert (7/5): Good -
- Nicole (8/5): Very good -
- Nik (8/5): Great location - Very easy to book friendly owners The room was a little tight hight wise lucky I'm quite small but worth mentioning if tall
- Tam (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing stay, very welcoming owner. Wouldn’t stay anywhere else when back in the area
- Shane (9/5): Superb -
- Mantas (10/5): Amazing stay - Lovely host and property. Would recommend for others!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was a nice stay. I had a long term stay that was over 30 days. I had the double room, and i felt like it was cramped due to the ceilings. I had to constantly be stooping over or craining my neck in the room. I wouldn't rebook this room for a stay longer than a week. The owner was great and very nice.
- Laryssa (10/5): Exceptional - Those blankets were insanely thick and comfy.
- Katie (8/5): Beautiful property in lovely location - Peaceful in a lovely location near to places of interest. Property was spacious and nicely furnished, exceeded our expectations. Property has everything you need to self cater or pubs close by. Owner Sian was super helpful with great communication A more comfortable sofa would have made it perfect and the TV signal was hit and miss (weather didn’t help). Only freeview TV, so limited what we could watch (especially over Xmas period). Dogs are allowed but you have to pay extra £10 per night
- Stuart (6/5): Nice place however some of the basics of the room should have been checked and working - Clean tidy and close to where we needed to be Toilet not working properly. , main light in bedroom was working on and off, one of the bedside lamps did not work.
- Alexandra (10/5): Exceptional - The host was very friendly and welcoming. Reasonable price for a cosy stay. 13 min drive to Center Parcs. Little town 2 min drive away and several restaurants within walking distance. WiFi wasn't great but it meant we were all more present so turned out to be a positive.
- John (1/5): There was no stay - Nothing as owner cancelled booking and kept the pyment Letting us know before booking that dog not allowed in that room and telling us to book another room thus paying twice
- Paula (9/5): Comfortable cottages with good facilities. - Clean and comfortable cottages with everything we needed for our stay. Host made regular contact ahead of stay.
- Gary (8/5): Lovely short stay at Appletree Cottages. - Nice self contained property. Lovely shower. Car parking secure, off road and under cover.
Good kitchen area with all necessary utensils.
Comfortable seating. Nice and warm in the cold weather. Would certainly return and have reccomended to friends already. Nothing disliked, but a proper screen between living area and bedroom would have made the property even better.
- Matthew (7/5): shame, could've been so much more - not much unfortunately most of it, it could've been so much more, but they've done nothing with it, random old furniture, kitchen wasn't clean, for the money I've stayed in much much better places.
OVER priced room not worth £100.
sorry.
spend some money and make it worthy of a barn conversion.
- Debbie (10/5): - The owner was lovely and very helpful
- Marie (5/5): Passable -
- Siobhan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Louise (10/5): Great stay! Would definitely stay here again. - The owner is lovely and really accommodating, the room far exceeded our expectations and did the job. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again even though it the WiFi isn’t very good.
- Graham (7/5): Good -
- Paulette (8/5): Really very successful. - I stayed in the upper studio which was tight in terms of ceilings etc, but it was really fine. Small but cosy, it suited me as I was alone, however it was fine for a couple. The shared kitchen downstairs worked out very well. It was basic but had all the essential components to cook my evening meal, including a large farmhouse table and a good tv in both the kitchen and the bedroom. It was quirky, but I really liked it. When I am trialing again in Gt Livermere, 25mins, I shall definitely stay there again. It was perfect for me. Only parking on the main street, however it was very quiet and a 'nice' area so no concerns. Take a torch if you intend to go to the Bull for a drink, 600m, as it's a bit dark.
- Maureen (8/5): Very good - There was no breakfast provided which was disappointing as I thought that was included.. We were advised to go to one of the village pubs Lack of breakfast
- Adair (7/5): Good -
- Alexander (9/5): Superb -
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Debbie (8/5): Perfect for one night stay - Location. Clean. Access. Helpful owner gaining early entry Shower temperature difficult to regulate. Although there for night not a lot of glassware and crockery
- Tammy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Becky (10/5): Incredible! - Staff was lovely, very spacious & bed was super comfy! Nothing
- Tamasin (3/5): Quite saddened really to spend £100 a night on something that wasn’t worth it. - It had a lot of room The whole cottage was dirty. The bathroom I didn’t even use due to its uncleanliness if I could share the videos I would.
Paint flaking off the walls.
It was cold and couldn’t do anything with the heating as a locked box covered over it. Which wasn’t great as we had a 6 month old baby with us.
Within 5 mins of getting there we were asked what time we were leaving on check out day.
Which made us feel really uncomfortable.
- David (6/5): Pleasant - Disappointed to find our accomodation was a shared arrangement in the cottage. We were up a very steep and low staircase to a loft area with very low doors and sloping ceilings. Room was bright but very restricted. Not even room for a chair just a bed. Bathroom was same - looked ok but very restricted space and low ceiling. Parking was in front of house we weren’t advised by owner that car would be covered in bird poo the next day. Disgusting.
- Maria (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kerrie (10/5): Lovely one evening stay, local pub for good food, nice walk along the river. Lovely cottage. - Lovely cosy clean and quiet.
Massive bonus that we could take our dogs.
Lovely, helpful host. Nothing
- Christine (7/5): Good -
