Guest Reviews
- Anna (10/5): Wonderful stay in the Lake District! - We had a wonderful stay at this B&B in the Lake District. The host was extremely kind and welcoming, and the breakfast was absolutely delicious and very generous. The veranda where breakfast was served was beautiful and made the mornings even more enjoyable. Our room was always spotless and very comfortable. The place was incredibly quiet and peaceful, perfect for relaxing, and the location was great for exploring the Lake District. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it!
- Simon (10/5): Perfect long weekend away at Hill Crest Country Guest House - Hill Crest Country Guest House is an exceptional accomodation and is located in a lovely quiet spot that gives great access to the Lakes, not far from Windermere and Bowness. There is generous space in the rooms and they are well equiped with everything you would need including a comfy bed. Jane, the host is very friendly and goes above and beyond to make your stay fantastic. She greeted us with a cream tea in the conservatory when we arrived which was a nice touch and also gave us some great ideas on places to visit. We saw some stunning scenery at Buttermere which we would not have travelled to if not for Jane's local knowledge. We visit the Lakes every year for a short break and have always stayed at different guest houses every time but this one is definitely one we'll be returning to. I honestly can not fault Hill Crest Country Guest House. It was a perfect stay for a long weekend to celebrate my wife's birthday. We will be returning.

The room was absolutely comfortable and had everything we needed. We really loved our stay!
- Howard (10/5): A lovely, friendly haven - Great location for exploring the southern Lakes. Lovely, very clean guest house. Spacious room with great bed, great shower, amazing breakfast and lovely, friendly host. Nothing - it was all excellent.

- Ryan (10/5): We had a fantastic time and Jane the host was extremely supportive throughout our stay. I would fully recommend for anyo - Clean, tidy and the breakfast was fantastic with a great location and great host. Nothing
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional Value, quality of accommodation, superb breakfast, cleanliness, service down to a tee. - An exceptional 5 night stay. Much has been said by previous reviews, which i am loath to repeat. I can unreservedly recommend the accommodation and the hostess Jane, who was helpful, charming , and attentive throughout our stay. We stayed in the blue room on the top floor which was easily accessible even for us pensioners. The welcome, was as warm as the scones, just hit the mark after an awkward motorway journey. Jane excels in her field, and those little touches like daily flapjacks, bottled water, fresh flowers are a rarity these days. Thanks for the recipe Jane, and wish you continued success going forward.......great stay, Julie and Andrew. I cannot think of a thing !
- Penelope (10/5): -

- Bernard (10/5): Everything you could wish for or need in Lake District accommodation. - The breakfast was everything and more that one could wish for, served by Jane, the friendly host.
The location is excellent for all parts of the Lake District, Grange, Cartmel and the Furness Peninsula.
The bedroom was large and well furnished. We had interesting conversations with the other guests, including one couple who have been visiting for many years. That speaks for itself. One or two beams were rather low, but a few bumps on the head taught me to be more aware!
- William (10/5): Lake district find. - Beautiful room with very comfortable large bed and plenty of space for relaxing in the room on sofa and chairs.
Excellent breakfast options were very tasty, especially the scotch pancakes with yoghurt and fresh fruit.
The host Jane was very helpful and attentive. Nothing
- Lola (10/5): My husband and I had the absolute pleasure of staying with Jane in the Lake District from Thursday to Monday, and we can - Everything! It’s perfect!

- Lucas (10/5): Exceptional Guest House - Jane was certainly the hostess with the mostest, homemade scones with cream and jam and hot drink on arrival. Hill Crest did not disappoint and we hope to return again. Jane made our visit extra special, as it was for my husbands 60th birthday, balloons and banners in room on our return from day out. Hill Crest is spotlessly clean and you're always made to feel welcome
- Graeme (10/5): Exceptional -
- Martin (10/5): Clean, comfortable, a good location and fabulous host. Add in a great breakfast who could want more. - The breakfast was ample but cooked to perfection with good quality ingredients.Rooms and bathroom were immaculate and everything was high quality from the bed linen to the shower Gell and even the toilet paper.
- Barbara (10/5): Fabulous guest house, lovely host and great facilities. - We stayed on Valentine's Day and what a lovely surprise when Jane showed us to our room! Heart shaped red balloons on the bed as well as a little garland of hearts strung abobve the bed and a dish full of lovely chocolates. Totally unexpected, but really lovely!
We also appreciated the lovely scones on arrival and the home baked flap jack the following night! Little touches, but
really set this guest house apart.
The breaKfast was excellent - plenty of choice - fresh fruit, granola, yogurt and choice of a cooked breakfast, again with plenty of choice including smoked salmon which was lovely and fruit juice, toast, tea, coffee etc.
Everywhere was spotlessly clean. Jane was a super host, very friendly and chatty and I wouldn't hesitate in staying thee again! Nothing!
- Brian (10/5): Absolutely loved every minute - Upon arriving we was greated by Jane and made to feel very welcome and then shown to our lovely and clean large bedroom where there was a few surprises(freshly made tea and scones, chocolates, tea, coffee, bottled water and even love heart balloons for valentines day)in the room there was everything you'd want and more fresh soft towels, fresh dressing gowns and slippers,tv,mini fridge and a very comfy bed.The breakfast was very nice and freshly cooked with juice, tea or coffee. The area in which its situated is perfect for a very peaceful and relaxing break with off road parking . So as a whole our 2 night stay was just perfect as we didn't know what to expect as not stayed in a bed and breakfast before only hotels but hillcrest country guest house was far more better than any hotel as more personal. Thankyou again Jane for our lovely stay in your beautiful guest house Nothing to dislike just perfect

Great value for money, clean and comfortable.

- Beyza (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paula (10/5): Exceptional - Our room was overlooking the landscape, stunning. Waking up to the beautiful scenery daily was like the breath of fresh air. It is still lingering after 5 days of being home. Falling asleep as your head touches the pillow is what a holiday should be like. A comfortable sleep.
Having a mini fridge in our room was a plus.5☆, and having bottles of water every day reminded us to keep hydrated. Our hostess Jane was very lovely with a wealth of knowledge of the places to visit and attentive to our needs.
The breakfast was amazing. You were spoilt for choice with various selections. Full english breakfast can be done bespoke too. Please don't scroll past Hill Crest Country Guest House. You'd be missing out!

- Anniekjh (10/5): The perfect Lakes B&B base, where everything is effortlessly done for you in spotless comfort! - We had such a comfortable and friendly stay at Hill Crest Country Guest House, a place that provides so much more than the sum of its parts. Our room was clean, cosy, well equipped and with our own lounge area to extend into. A perfect blend of privacy and belonging, with wonderful touches of flapjacks and cakes to enjoy. There were many breakfast options, all promptly and freshly made each morning after choosing ahead. Jane thinks of everything to make a stay comfortable, including welcoming family staying nearby, and providing helpful insights and knowledge on places to go and see. The B&B is five minutes drive from the southern end of Windermere, but with many local charms including river walks and the Steam Railway. A perfect location to base your time in the Lake District. Breakfast was delicious and was made even better by having it in a lovely conservatory each morning. The room was spotless and very comfortable, which was great to come back to after a long hike. This is an excellent B&B, highly recommend. The location is lovely, but there's not much around. There's no easily accessible local pub or restaurant so you have to drive somewhere on an evening.
