- Deborah (6/5): - My initial room was overpowering perfumed due to Odo-ban having just been used. I was given a different room. I was never able to use internet and there was no cellphone coverage. Other than than that, the room was clean, bed was comfortable, no traffic noise, and an adorable baby goat bleeding was the first sound I heard after sunrise.

I called the phone number and the message said they are open 7 days a week 8-5. But, thats not correct. This place is out in the boonies, which is part of the allure. We drive 17 miles to eat at Oysters mexican seafood in Golden Valley. It was delicious.

I could see keeping the outside of the property as if it were for miners but inside the rooms should be up to normal standards, not dark, dank and dumpy. I was in shock when the room was shown to me. - Chrisse3974 (8/5): Best stay for Cowboy’s and -girls - This hotel/motel is a very lovely place to stay for a moment on a trip between Nevada and Arizona. We were transferred back in time to the Wild West and Miner’s times. The town of Chloride is rather small and quickly walked through, but on the walk we’ve seen a lot original sites. The rooms and entire entity of this hotel have nothing to do with modern life style, in the opposite they provide an old original vibe, which we really liked. A well prepared breakfast in the saloon (restaurant ”Yesterday”) was served on a reasonable pricing.
- David (10/5): Rustic 1800s motel. - Great owners and very nostalgic old hotel. Dont expect the Hilton, you are staying in an old west town. Had some issues that the owners resolved promptly. close to Grand canyon skywalk area. Again, a very rustic 1800s hotel. Restaurant has really good breakfast. We typically stay there in November , less heat which we like.

We killed over a dozen moths and woke up to a dozen more. Shower so small (bad if you’re clastrophobic. Restaurant had good food. Staff and people very friendly!! If you want the real old time experience in a very small town okay to stay.

- Passport08249080504 (10/5): Our new happy place - We found our new happy place for our semi-annual migration, traveling with Errol the parrot and his little dog. We ran late arriving due to car trouble but they were more than gracious, made me a cocktail although they'd been closed for hours, and had some Marie Calendar dinners on hand to take to the room. The room came with a microwave and coffee, and small tables and chairs were just outside on the courtyard walkway. There is an extensive collection of vintage Americana, c. 1930's all over the premises and town, and my standard room was true to its history of miners' lodging, small but just fine, with walls and structures preserved. Breakfast was delicious (as was the cocktail) sitting out front chatting with the regulars. I'm looking forward to our next visit on our way back south this fall. Kudos to them for maintaining their authenticity and their own unique vibe, with genuine hospitality, a welcome break from the standard and bland and indifferent.

Only downside was the wifi wouldn't connect on the 2nd day even though it showed a strong signal. We would definitely stay there again.

The office was closed when we got there around 6:15 and said go to restaurant door. That was closed and lights turned off. Luckily and employee came from out back and let us in. It went smoothly from there. But we had our doubts about it for a few minutes. Don’t expect a 3 star place but as I said it was very clean.

- Karen (6/5): - It was quaint and cute. The property is old and the shower could use a update. Lots of thick paint around the opening and it was covered in dust. But we are in AZ and it is dusty here. The real issue was that the hot water handle in the shower just spun around and around and did not turn on the shower so no shower in the hot and dusty day. There was no one at the office and if there was a phone number to call I did not see it. At 8am the restaurant opened and I went in there and let them know it was broken. Was told that I should have let some one know about the shower and they would fix it right away if I wanted to take a shower but at 8 am we were up and dressed and ready to hit the road.

- IS2001 (10/5): Wonderful stay at a unique desert hotel. - We decided to take a small detour off our Route 66 tour and spend the night at the Shep Miners Inn in Chloride AZ. We were pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed our stay. The rooms were simple but spacious and the exterior of the hotel had great historical character. The only slight issue is that was not a great wifi connection in the rooms. The town of Chloride was very quaint and we especially enjoyed exploring the small historical western village across the street from the hotel. The food at Yesterday's was great as well.

- Billy (8/5): - The 9.9 rating is some sort of mistake. The facility is very old with many things that could use a lot of improvement. There is no food in the vicinity for 22 miles after 5PM. The little historical village looks to have some interesting things to see. However, the room was clean, reasonably comfortable and quiet. The staff seems nice and are doing the best they can with the facility they have. I’d give the place a 7.0.
- fenway1977 (8/5): A cool, quirky night's stay - We stayed a night at Shep's Miners Inn following a South Rim to Rim hike at the Grand Canyon and it was everything we needed it to be. The staff was very helpful and checked us in even though it was after 10pm. The room was comfortable and clean. The room had 3 rooms and 4 beds, which was awesome. The room came with a few basic amenities like a coffee maker. There is an adjacent restaurant and bar that was perfect for breakfast. The property (and town) is quirky and interesting. It's off the beaten path, but well worth your consideration. Give it a chance.

It is out of the way and quiet, sure, but it had enough to do and see to make it a highlight of our trip. Their restaurant is the only option in town and they closed at 5pm. We had to go down to Kingman for dinner. (It turn out to be a good thing). WiFi signal was very weak in the room.

- Jana (10/5): - We had a large group of Side by Sides (riding the AZ Peace Trail) and we reserved 9 rooms. They were AMAZING! They kept the restaurant open late for our big group and even brought in some one to do Karaoke for us (which we LOVED). It was clean and just what we needed. The next day we got a private tour of the museum across the street. Far exceeded our expectations. We will be back next year when we ride the Peace Trail again!

- Paul (2/5): - We knew the place was isolated and remote, that is why we chose to visit. No one can predict the weather, it was very windy wet and cold, that is a risk you take, but our arrival at 4.40pm we were informed ALL amenities would close at 5.00pm !!!! nothing on the website indicates this, we did see other travellers shocked no facilities were available. Our accomodation a 2 room suite was heated by 2 free standing air con units, one only blew cold air, the other one did blow warm air untill 9.00pm then failed totally, so an early bed was our preffered option, but no extra bedding was available to compensate for a freezing night. The following morning the rooms were so cold it was felt prudent not to have a shower. Breakfast was good, but the staff were unable to fix the heaters, fortunately we were leaving.

The rooms are somewhat small but very clean and the beda are very comfortable. Dining decor and atmosphere was the best with good food and reasonable prices. Great place to make friends with the locals who are really special people that appreciate visitors coming to the community.

- David (10/5): A Gem of the West! - This is one of the Gems of the West. I got in a little late but the proprietors took care of me. The gave me a small basket of goodies and it was a a super easy check-in. The room was small but really comfortable. Modern bathroom. I loved the room! I totally recommend Shep's Miners Inn. The town is full of history and the murals up in the mountains are fun. Do not try to go up in a passenger car. High clearance or 4WD is needed. The town just had some flash floods but the town is worth a visit.

- laurenhC7889IV (10/5): Two night stay - We did not secure lodging in time, close to the park, as we planned our trip to the Grand Canyon. So we decided that a ghost town would be fun! This hotel is a bit rustic but supplied all that we needed. The community has free-roaming cattle and a gunfighter show every other weekend when it's not too hot outside. The restaurant Yesterday's had great breakfast. Make sure you call ahead if you plan to have dinner-- we did, and they told us they were open. But when we arrived, they had actually closed up early. Definitely recommend a unique stay here!

Cows may walk through town. Deer may be nearby at sunset. Stop here to relax and get away. Internet works but is not fast. Use this time to get away relax. You do not come here to stay connected and think about the rest of the world. This is a place to experience. To hit pause. To take the time to actually look around yourself.

- Verified traveler (10/5): - The entire property from the restaurant to the hotel is unique. It is like stepping back in time. Definitely does not look modern but has been updated for the current time. Many antiques abound all over the property. Our dinner on arrival was one of the best we;ve had on that trip. Only drawback on the restaurant is how early it closes (5pm). The room was clean. A basket of welcome goodies along with bottles of water awaited us upon arrival to the room. The beds were comfortable and had enough pillows for everyone. Definitely would return and stay again. Wonderful experience.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This little gem is where you go to get away from the daily grind. Hands down, the staff and other guests are the friendliest people you will ever meet. The hotel has a lot of history and the old cowboys that sing in the saloon will take you back to much simpler time. I highly recommend a stay here.

- Verified traveler (10/5): - We chose this hotel because we wanted to experience Chloride and see something different. The old Ghost Town is across the street, and there are great little shops worth exploring. It was a new experience for us having free-range cattle walking through town, eating cactus, and resting in the shade of the tallest trees. The staff was friendly--as were the locals that frequented the only restaurant in town! The food was home-cooked and fresh; the breakfast "flapjacks" were huge, and delicious and the menu was surprisingly diverse...we certainly left satisfied. For the age of Shep"s Inn, it was great--full of ambiance, and room conveniences such as refrigerator, TV, and internet. We were there during a horrendous Heat Advisory, so the air conditioners had to work overtime, but were adequate (the constant noise of the air conditioners all night made sleep hard, but worked well enough). The room we were in was on the outside and got full sun all day, which made the heat worse--also, there was a sewage smell from the sink that was unbearable at times, probably due to the heat. I would stay there again, but certainly not in that same room (12).
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I was a late arrival on a hot day and was greeted by a friendly host who walked me to my room after handing me a basket of snacks and offering cold water. It was a 3 bedroom suite for just me and cooled to perfection with ac units and ceiling fans. Cleanest place I have ever stayed, not a speck of dust anywhere! The bed was very comfortable and the pillow was fluffy but good for us side sleepers. Usually I have to bring in my own pillow but they have thought of everything. Fridge and microwave with lots of free bottled water. With thick plastered adobe or stone walls, it was incredibly quiet, I couldn't hear anyone. The rooms have an outside entrance off a charming porch where one can sit and enjoy the night air. Parking is free and nearby. It is worth the short drive off the main Highway to stay in this old mining town. The star show was amazing, unhindered by city lights. Quaint vintage furnishings that suit the setting complete the charm. I will make this wonderful hotel one of my favorites, staying when I have more time to explore the area. I felt very safe and pampered.

- Thor (8/5): Funky and fun - This is a funky and ramshackle motel/restaurant in a funky and ramshackle town that time forgot. Be aware that the diner closes at 5 - and there is nowhere else to eat. Lots of spaces to hang out and enjoy a cigar. The motel is clean and functional, and the price is right.
- Thomas (10/5): - Wonderful motel in a quiet old minig town. The hotel is full of art and the town is charming. However, the heater made a very loud noise making it hard to sleep with it on, and getting to cold with it off. But all in all, a fantastic stay with wonderful service.

- Cheryl (8/5): - Small quaint town of 300- Chloride, Az. Inn was a little rustic, but that kind of added to the atmosphere. We took the little tour of the town and ate at the restaurant. Good food with big portions.
- Sonja (10/5): - This place reminds you of how traveling used to be in the 60s/70s with small motels just off the highway. The staff, guests and neighbors can sit on the porch and talk while the kids play safely across the street in a park. The old mining town feel is adorable. The drive up to the paintings is easy and the paintings are inspirational. Watch out for the cows that roam the streets wild and free! The limited cell phone reception really helps you relax from the stress of big city life.

- Abraham_S (10/5): - ALL of the staff are so frendly. I arrived right as the restaurant and bar closed. But all of the staff were asking us if we wanted something to eat anyway. So we asked if they would just make us a drink instead. BOTTOMS UP! They even let us take our drinks to our room. The Shep's Miners Inn is unique as is the town. It is tucked away, about 4 miles off the beaten path, near the bottom of the mountains. This find is worth the short drive. Our room was a very cozy space. The room and bathroom are the cleanest I have experienced in years! The up to date appliances and bathroom will make your stay comfortable but doesn't take away from the historical feel. The price is definitely well worth every dollar spent. If you are hungry or "dry" make sure you come through from 8a-5p!
- angela (10/5): Small town charm! Clean and Cozy! - This was the perfect stay in my book! The place was so charming and the 3 room suite accomodated our party of 4 perfectly! The room was so clean and cozy and the food in the Yesterdays restaurant (closes at 5pm!) was so fresh and delicious and the service was top notch small town friendly service just like you would expect! The town was so cute - we enjoyed taking pictures and walking around town and talking to the locals. Even the resident kitty was happy to greet us. Definitely will be back!

- MarkG (10/5): - The location in Chloride is an old mining town which is almost a ghost town as the pop is tiny. Very quiet location with near zero nightlife. The town folk are friendly and talkative. Surrounding residences have lots of "Yard Art". Breakfast at hotel was typical fare at decent price and quality. Our room was newly renovated. New carpet and paint, quality linens and comforter on bed and Small electric heater / AC . We were comfortable and slept well. Bathroom and shower were spotless.
- Metal-lover75 (10/5): Wow!! A true gem!! - We stayed here for 1 night and I will tell you it was stepping into the past! It’s a small town, and the history is everywhere you look! It’s truly a gem and the rooms are wonderful and the manager and staff were SUPER friendly!! I would stay here again!!!
- ericasB3664PB (10/5): Charming, comfy spot in the middle of the desert - I loved this place. Super charming and fun, the folks who own the Inn are really friendly and lovely, and this place is the heart of the town. While it's no luxury resort, it's clean, comfortable, and the hospitality is great. Connected to Yesterday's restaurant, which is at the heart of the town and open late-ish with food and drink, they also have live music which was fun. This is a sleepy, charming little town with a movie set ghost town in the middle of the desert - I loved it and would recommend it and would happily go again.
