Guest Reviews
- Amanda (10/5): - Staff very friendly. We were overlooking a busy road. With windows closed it was ok.
- Thomas (8/5): - Friendly and welcoming staff, comfortable rooms, lovely carvery
- Jane (10/5): - Very clean and easy to find . Access to rooms through many doors , quite difficult if not fully able . Staff helpful
- Jessica (10/5): Lovely place to stay with great staff - We didnt realise the pub wasnt actually open until Thursday to Sunday! So that was a bit disappointing for us as we were looking forward to the carvery. But it didnt spoil our stay. (Probably my fault for not realising when I booked the trip last minute!)
The staff were super friendly and very helpful. They were great at giving information on the local area. We checked out their tips and were very pleased.
Great parking on site and beds were super comfortable. Room was plenty warm. Shower was not very powerful.
Very happy with our stay.
My 8 year old sons review...
Beautiful, very kind manners, lovely bed, fancy bathroom, the orange chocolate chip cookies were amazing! 5 stars.
Thanks for a lovely stay đ
- Graeme (10/5): - Nice place to stay, ticked all the boxes, very nice carvery.
- David (10/5): It just kept getting better - It is easy to find and a good car part. From there it just got better. There was a lively welcome as we entered the bar and very efficient check in. The room was very new well looked after. We had dinner in the carvery and then worked on our laptops in the bar afterwards. The bed was very comfortable, strange for a hotel I find, and slept very well. The only downside is the hot water in the shower does take an age to arrive but once it does, there is plenty of it. We will return.
- Clare (6/5): - There was no food available at all. The restaurant is closed Monday to Wednesday. I knew there was no breakfast provided but was expecting dinner. It was a good job I had brought food with me.
- JU YING (8/5): - The establishment is a carvery that does sunday roasts from Thursday to Sunday. I did not check this detail ahead of time and missed this detail. However the establishment is not too far from nearby cities that had amble dining options, but missing out on the roast experience was definitely regrettable. So I would advise anyone lodging here pay extra attention to this detail if dining is a key experience for you.
The lodging was relatively straightforward to check-in and checkout. There was plenty of parking available (although I canât speak to the days if the carvery is open for dining) and the room was clean and well decorated.
- Andrew (10/5): - As always our stay at the George was fantastic with friendly staff and an excellent carvery . 10 out of 10
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great Spot, good food and nice rooms - Great spot, clean and tidy. Excellent value.
- Harshavardhan (10/5): Great - It was a great experience.
- Elizabeth (8/5): Good value for money. Easy to navigate to. - The hotel staff are very welcoming and lovely at 4:30 check in and also served a beer after the carvery closed. If you can not do stairs, this is not for you. The room was clean and the bed was reasonably comfortable. The tub chairs in the room were comfy enough but no coffee table or end table to place the coffee/tea cups on. Overall it was very good value for money.
- Lester (10/5): I would definitely stop here again, great value - Great value for money, lovely food nice staff recommend. I would definitely stay here again
- Verified traveler (8/5): Comfy stopover - Overall good, mattress could do with replacing as it squeaked whenever you moved and window frames were mouldy and shower leaked but I would stay again. Carvery was good and parking convenient. Staff great.
- William (6/5): - Very noisy from passing traffic.
Carvery was closed so no food available
- Ray (8/5): Good stopover when touring - The hotel was fine for a couple of nights. Staff were friendly. It was well situated to visit local attractions by car
- Barbara (8/5): - Nice place staff friendly. Room was a little dated and couldnât open window.
- Colin (10/5): - Very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely stay again
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect - Was perfect
- Roy (8/5): - Great welcome friendly staff good value stay
- jennifer (10/5): Excellent - Excellent. Good location. Quiet. Good food. Comfortable room. Good shower. Nice staff.
- Stephen (10/5): - Comfortable and friendly stay
- Alison (10/5): Philip - Very good service and friendly staff.
very good meal at Carvery
- Catherine (10/5): Amazing stay! - There was plenty of parking, even for electric charging, food area was lovely and clean but we didnt eat there. Service was great, provided drinks and then shown to our room. The room was large, with beautiful decor and massive, soft comfy bed. Small toilet/shower room but sufficient for its requirements. Would definitely go back!
- Helen (10/5): - A lovely welcome upon arrival, great host. Room was comfortable and warm. Carvery meal great. Thank you.
- David (10/5): - Loved whole atmosphere of place exceptionally friendly. Limited dining but this was made clear at booking.
- John (10/5): - Very clean and quiet hotel with friendly and helpful staff.
The only slight fault I found was the lack of breakfast. But as there is a garden centre only two minutes drive away providing delicious breakfasts, it wasn't a problem. The carvery in the hotel which is open Thursday to Sunday is marvellous and great value. Thanks to Dave and the team for an excellent stay
- Derek (10/5): - It was nice & quiet, Plenty of parking space, Staff very pleasant, Carvery very good and plenty of it. The Hotel room was to a high standard and warm.
- Hugh (8/5): - Quiet pub that is only open Thursday to Sunday as a bar and restaurant.
- Paul (10/5): - Great Sunday roast and happy to accommadate bicycle tourist
- Jean (6/5): - Firstly, the food. Carvery meal lunchtime and evening. Food was excellent, and service friendly.
Secondly, no breakfast, hotel is room only and you have to find other places for breakfast. Not very convenient. Thirdly, hotel opening times. building closed between 2pm and 4.30pm. No place for early arrivals to sit until opening hour. Fourthly, hotel bedrooms, very nice and well appointed, front rooms a little noisy with road traffic til late into the evening. Also the shower in my room had a very shiny slippy floor and no rubber mat or grab rail. It was perfectly clean though. The staff were really pleasant
- Avril (6/5): - We didnât realise when we booked the hotel for the night that it was actually shut to customers. There was no bar open and nowhere to get any food. Thatâs why we booked it in the first place so we could have a drink and a nice meal in the evening but was unavailable only open Thursday to Sunday which I thought was ridiculous when youâre having people staying there would not stay again
- aldo (10/5): - Lovely place and staff very friendly.
Just a bit isolated with no were to go for a walk
- Kim (8/5): Comfortable room - Very nice comfortable room
- Andrew (10/5): - This was our second stay at this hotel and we cannot speak to highly of the owners and the staff who make a great effort in making you feel welcome. The carvery is fantastic and great value for money and we will definitely be back
- Mark (10/5): - Excellent stay, very comfy and friendly staff at a good price
- Heather (10/5): - The staff were phenomenally friendly and helpful. The room was spotlessly clean and tidy and overall the stay was amazing.
- Michael (8/5): - Excellent food
Shame no breakfast
Shower jets water directly at door so tends to cause flood outside shower on opening the shower door after waiting for water to heat up which takes several minutes
Overall very good and very friendly
- Stefan (10/5): very nice - we didnt eat there, but I was told by a number of people that the carvery is excellent.
the room was nice, spacious and clean, overall a very good price and a nice hotel.
- Ian (10/5): - Good Night - Great value
- Rodger (10/5): - A lovely place to stay, close to Harrogate and all its facilities. Super friendly host, very helpful.
Unfortunately, their carvery is only open Thursday to Sunday so we werenât able to sample the food, but the restaurant and bar area looked very inviting and Iâm sure that if we had been able to weâd have enjoyed a fine meal there
- Andrew (10/5): - Friendly staff and great food
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Bed very uncomfortable needed new mattress, no desk / workspace in room (Room 2). Could not fault food or service.
- Sue (10/5): - Best welcome ever, room comfortable for a one night stay, everything clean. Very good carvery though I felt hassled by people behind me, would be better to space people out especially during this pandemic.
- Karen (8/5): Wonderful Welcome - A wonderful welcome. Convenient location and parking. Twin ensuite shower room was fine, with smart TV, WiFi, kettle (and drinks supplies), hair dryer, bedside light, power points for charging gadgets. We had dinner in the carvery which was delicious and good value - note they only offer a carvery.
- Joanne (10/5): Would stay again đ - A friendly greeting, great sized clean room with comfortable bed and evening food was fabulous
- Kirsty (10/5): - Very friendly staff, lovely comfy beds & nice room
- Trevor (10/5): Great place - Staff are welcoming, warm friendly people, very professional.
Room was very comfy, well proptioned.
Would recommend, and stay again.
- Ian (10/5): Grandaughter sitting break for the night - From arrival to departure the hotel and staff were very good and could not fault the welcome. so much so we are staying again
- Wilfred (10/5): - Need a car as the hotel is a bit remote
- Stuart (10/5): - Excellent all round and friendly people.
- Raymond (8/5): - Good
- Patricia (10/5): We will be back - Extremely pleasant room. Everything was thought of, bottle of water each, hand gel plentiful tea and coffee. The bed was lovely.
The shower room was small but perfectly functional and the shower was good. Great check in procedure and very pleasant staff.
- Marion (10/5): Great place to stay - The stay was very comfortable and very clean . Our room was very spacious. All staff very happy and helpful. We had 2 meals there and both extremely good
- Adele (8/5): Comfortable bed. - The room and place was nice and clean and comfortable. The only down side was the shower wasnât very powerful. Also if you like to sleep in itâs a bit noisy by the road.
- jerris (10/5): Good priced hotel - business trip - felt assured with their covid practices. room was very clean and good option of hot drinks. lots of parking. good wifi.
- Mark (10/5): Outstanding as always!!! - Outstanding as always. THE place we stop when visiting Harrogate/Ripon. Really friendly and comfortable, and in a fantastic location.
- Nick (10/5): 10 out of 10 - Great room, Great service
- James (8/5): Friendly - Very friendly, staff could not do enough. Nothing too much trouble. Surprisingly (for a hotel) no breakfasts! But claimed "best carvery in Yorkshire". Maybe, but not as good as the carveries in Warks, Worcs, Cambs, but certainly the most expensive.
- Julia (6/5): - A very warm welcome from our host such a nice person! But as somewhere to stay fell short on many counts. If youâre left with a room to rate itâs hard to be positive. Bathroom too small water in the shower taking 10mins to warm up. Tea and coffee making kit with the tiniest tea cups! No teapot. Two biscuits set out on the tray each. No breakfast even to look forward to and McDonalds up the road with limited choices! We hope itâs a work in progress!
