- Ahmad (10/5): A relaxing and rejuvenating trip. - What stood out most was the convenient access to the private beach and the excellent cleanliness of the hotel facilities, especially the room. I also appreciated the thoughtful room design — it wasn’t fully carpeted, which was perfect since we spent most of our time at the beach and pool, so coming back with wet feet was never a problem. The bathtub was spacious, the toilet was exceptionally clean, and the hotel’s complimentary shuttle and buggy services to nearby attractions like Hard Rock Hotel Desaru Coast and Adventure Waterpark Desaru Coast made getting around very convenient. It would be even better if the hotel offered more late-night entertainment options, such as live music performances or movie screenings for kids, to enhance the overall guest experience.

Do not recommend, not only the bad hospitality but the quality of their food and cocktails are below average, tried 3 or 4 of their cocktails but all tasted like lime juice mixed with water or soda and ice. Not all but majority of their guests are uncivilized and very loud, i tried to have a peaceful vacation but turned out very disappointed. Might come to desaru again but wil definitely not stay here ever again.

- NizamMasood (10/5): Excellent Family Vacation - Past Experience : I came to Westin Desaru for the second time in February 2026. I had an amazing time with my partner. I cant thank enough to all the staffs. When I go home, I kept repeating to my siblings, "I had such an amazing time in Westin Desaru. So many things to do". Occasion : I did poison my family so much that we decided to go to Westin for our mother's birthday celebration in March 2026. So we booked 4 rooms for our stay. And I made sure to email Westin that 1 of the rooms to be decor for our mother's birthday. We received super nice reply and we were rest assured that everything will go smoothly. Check In : It was the 3rd day of Eid Mubarak when we checked in around 12pm. The line was endless and the lobby was chaotic. But the staffs are super kind and attentive. It took just 17 mins for my turn to check in and Jean was so apologetic that I had to stand on the line for quite some times. The check in process was super quick. But of course at 12pm, the rooms were not ready. Jean was about to explain to me about the activities around the hotel when I assured her, we already had tickets booked for Water Park. The thing that surprised me most is, Jean asked me "Sir, you check in here last month also right". Oh wow, she did remember me. She said I remember your face and you did the garden tour last month. Ooh wow, thats an excellent memory she got there. Mind you, in February I didnt stay for a week, it was just a night. And she warmly strike a good conversation to us. She does uphold the good standard and Westin is so lucky to have her in the front line. Service : Jean asked the bellboy to send us to the Hard Rock Hotel so we can enter the waterpark thru the special entrance. Such quick service. Rooms : When we came back, Jean was apologetic that only 3 rooms are ready by 5pm and another room will be ready in any minutes. To which, we dont mind. I asked her which room has the decor and she revealed to us. So all of us went to my mother's room and were surprised by the decor and such sweet nice chocolate cake. We love them so much and my mother cant stop smiling. After 15 mins just resting in my mother's room, I was texted that the last room is ready. All the rooms were clean and smells fresh. Honestly, no comment at all. Top notch cleanliness. My mother's room were on the 6th floor, with excellent sea view. I was placed next to hers. The other 2 rooms for my siblings were located on the lower floor, level 2, which are perfect since both the rooms has a toddler aged 4. Around The Hotel : My family were impressed by Kedidi and its romantic setting by the pool. We ended up having a great dinner there. Originally we planned to have dinner at the main restaurant or the Italian food next door, but nahhh. And my nephew cant stop looking at the fish inside the pond. The next day, my nephews had an amazing time swimming. And the tree shades really help to set the mood. Breakfast : The foot traffic during breakfast was unforgiving. The waitress were so apologetic that they cant sit us in the same table to which we actually dont mind. We were sit inside the Italian Restaurant next door so the food is a bit far from us. It actually turns out to be a great arrangement because the environment inside that restaurant is 90% calmer than the main area of Seasonal Taste. Satisfaction : 100%. I am highly satisfied with this stay. And I will be coming again (booking done) in June 2026. I know Westin wont let guests down. I dont know how you can top the service that you already gave to us but I believe I will be impressed anyway. See you in June 2026.

- psychocamp (8/5): Great Staff Made the Difference - Overall, a pleasant stay with a few early hiccups that ended on a positive note. Our first breakfast had some issues — we briefly left our table to get food and returned to find it reassigned despite an “occupied” tag. We were then asked to wait for another table, which was frustrating at the time. What really stood out, however, was the service recovery. Ezri, the Restaurant & Bar Manager, personally checked in on us after the incident and continued to do so daily, which we truly appreciated. Jean, the Loyalty Manager, also went the extra mile by sending us snacks along with a thoughtful handwritten card. On our third breakfast, Zainab and Lina provided warm and attentive service. The noodle station chef was especially friendly, taking time to explain each ingredient, and Fattah from the recreation team made us feel genuinely welcome throughout our stay. We also enjoyed the spa — the treatments were excellent, so much so that we returned for a second session. With better coordination, this resort has great potential. The genuine care shown by several team members made a meaningful difference and left us with a positive impression overall.

The staff were good and helpful throughout, we didn't know that they provide a buggy service to Hard Rock cafe, which would allow us to access the waterpark from there. It was really nice of them. I think this is one of the best resorts I've stayed thus far, wouldn't mind coming back again. Our room had minor cleanliness issues when we first checked in, but it wasn't noticeable and did not impact us at all throughout our stay. Food options were decent at best, we ate outside from our second day onwards. The complimentary breakfast was really good though.

- Escape42677083776 (10/5): Nature's evening serenade at Westin Desaru - Our stay at The Westin Beach Resort – Desaru was a wonderful, relaxing experience – it felt like a newer hotel in spite of its 8 years tenure. Highlights include convenient beach access, the memorable night ambiance of nature’s constant waves crashing sounds and skyline sights, the friendly & helpful staff from Reception and at its Italian and Malay restaurants ( a friendly staff Ashok impressed us on its history and no-to-miss activities), the Spa with its range of therapeutic massage and hot water jacuzzi/steam room and the surrounding greenery. We did not sample the range of water sports and adventure options, mainly due to the hot weather on the day we were there. We resolve to return back for a “Commune with Nature” when the energetic monsoon season lash out high waves, foreboding clouds and strong winds.

- afang (10/5): Great weekend trip option - must have the right expectations - I visited the Westin Desaru for a 3D2N trip from Singapore for the May 1st holiday weekend. It was an easy weekend getaway and convenient via the ferry (Batamfast via Tanah Merah). While I had my doubts going in, all in all, I would recommend the hotel for families looking for an affordable, beach front option in Desaru. It's not fair to compare to more luxury hotels such as the Anantara and Mandarin Oriental, which cost 1.5x to 3x the price. We experienced a few mishaps, but the hotel handled them very well and it was a convinient location to explore Desaru (Beach, watersport activities, Desaru Fruit Farm, etc). There were two hiccups, but both times, the hotel did a good job making up for it: 1. At Seasonal Tastes for lunch, one of our entrees never came even after 45 minutes; After asking to cancel though, they recovered well, apologizing and offering a discount. They weren't that busy though, and the wait staff can be more attentive in general on their tables. 2. At kedidi, our waiter was proactive and attentive. Unfortunately, 40 minutes into the meal, they realized that our entire table's order wasn't placed due to a mix up. However, they addressed the issue well, prioritizing our dishes, and also compensating us a dessert. While we were quite irritated at the time, mistakes happen and the waiter genuinely ment well. Marriott loyalty recognition: I am just a 'lowly' gold member now, but the hotel genuinely went out of the way to send welcome bites, as well as extending drinks vouchers that conveniently could be used for coffee/smoothies in the lobby bar. Additionally, they allowed for late check out which made a big difference for a long weekend getaway. The rooms were large and comfortable (good temperature control), and F&B overall was what you would expect (not necessarily the most gourmet, but a wide selection that was good enough). Front desk at check in and check out were really efficient. Location was easy to walk to nearby attractions (Hard Rock, Waterpark, Anantara) as well as to call grabs.

This is uncommon on most 5 start hotel that i booked and stay for the 3 pax room i stay. Very disappointed. Will start hard rock next time

Pros: - It is well located; just a short (free) bus ride from the ferry terminal. It is close to the beach and Hard Rock Hotel and the Anantara in case you want to visit other properties nearby. - The room was spacious and has a nice view of the beach. - The spa was nice (we had the Urutan Malaysia massage which was very relaxing and enjoyable) - a big thank you to Adel. - There is a sizeable gym, bicycle rental (2hrs free for Marriott Silver Elite status) and badminton, table tennis, snooker etc. - Good value, especially for European / American travellers (note though that this isn't a premier Asian resort vacation and you would be better off at the Mandarin Oriental nearby if you can afford it). Cons: - This property is marketed as a 5* wellness retreat but it lacks the 5* experience. It is more of a short/weekend family getaway and not a premier Asian beach resort experience. - Staff lacks training. Kitchen service (especially at Seasonal Tastes and Mix) is very slow. We waited 30-40 minutes for a dessert on one day and one of our mains on the other when the restaurant was practically empty. When another guest questioned why they had waited 30 minutes for a drink, couple of the staff members were openly laughing. - The beach is very close to the property but isn't clean and feels crowded. Deck chairs were dirty. Unlike other Asian beach resorts, you can't really lounge on the beach and we were stuck in our room for a large portion of the day without anything else to do in the vicinity. - Prego was empty one evening when we went for an early dinner but we were denied entry without a reservation and were told to sit outside if we wanted a table. Felt a bit uptight coming from a resort restaurant with average pizza.

- Hamidah (9/5): An amazing and relaxing stay — definitely a place I would love to come back to! - Everything was excellent. The resort is beautiful, clean, and very comfortable. The beach view is amazing and the environment is peaceful. The staff were friendly and helpful, making our stay even more enjoyable. It’s a perfect place to relax with family. Honestly, nothing much to complain about. Everything was well maintained and the stay was very pleasant.

- Vanessa (8/5): Lovely hotel, great food, comfortable and clean - Spacious, clean and comfortable rooms, lovely swimming pools, excellent buffet breakfast with good quality food and lots of choice, all restaurant food was great, right in front of sandy clean beach with beautiful clear water, friendly staff, our 4 year old enjoyed the kids club for a few hours each day! Nothing, it was all good!

- Chandrasagaran (10/5): I would definitely come again with no hesitations! - Very spacious, detailes of locations were clear, service was phenomenal, view was breathtaking I find it a bit late that check in time for Westin is at 4pm instead of 3pm as general hotel check in time. However the concierge admin helped us check in earlier since we arrived earlier than expected, thank you for that!

- Rupalmeghani (10/5): Amazing as always!! - Our stay at Westin was amazing as usual. It is our go to spot for a quick holiday from Singapore! A very well maintained and clean hotel with very attentive and amazing staff, beautiful location-right at the beach(clean and well maintained with a small bar shack) They also have bikes for rent-first hour is free. And many kids activities every day. There’s also a play room for younger kids. The breakfast has a great spread! Could be a little bit better for vegetarians though. The Indian section worked for us. My daughter and I enjoyed the chocolate fountain:) The rooms are so spacious with all amenities, comfortable bed and pillows for a great sleep. There’s a pillow menu to choose from too. The bathroom is also big, with a huge tub(with bath salts!) The kids enjoy their time at the Desaru Westin so much, they refuse to try any other hotel when we are visiting here.

- Irena (3/5): Do not go there! - Not sure there is something I liked. This is definitely not a 5 star hotel. Its very grubby and outdated, rooms are moldy and hygiene is questionable. Majority of the staff are absolutely clueless. There was no oat milk/ almond milk for the 3 nights we stayed in.

- Jayarajesh (10/5): Paradise - Location was perfect for family relaxing holiday. Service was exceptional and staffs Kai, Lillian, zainab, Azam, Afi, Araa, che Azmie, Hazmi, Dayang, Win, Prashant, Lala, Yubak, Ilmie, ashok, lina, Azina, mai , Otso, and Ray and the whole team went above and beyond to make our stay extra special. Everyday was fun, breakfast spread was awesome, food quality at the restaurants were great. It made our long stay ( 8 nights) a truly memorable experience Nothing on the property. It can be busy on the weekend and holiday period.
- Yee Yan (5/5): Won't come again - It is only considered ok. It probably should be rated 4 star and charged at 300-400 per night. Overall standard is subpar considering the price. Breakfast is so so. In short, it is too expensive. Probably targeting Singaporeans who are willing to pay a premium.

But won’t take responsibility for mistakes. - Great property, location, amenities Hotel charged me twice for my stay, even though I expressly informed them at both check in and check out that I had already made prepayment (hotel staff took pictures of the payment acknowledgement email). I only realised after checking my bank statements and reached out. When processing the refund, they refused to compensate for forex losses or bank charges when this was entirely their fault.

- pricilladas (10/5): A Great Hotel is Built by Employees who Care - I stayed on March 29th 2026 with my family to celebrate my anniversary. Amazing room, exceptional cleanliness, special thanks to Ashikin from front office department for the arrangement and warm hospitality. At night, we had dinner @ Kedidi, foods and ambience are amazing, I would like to give an appreciation to Ikram the one who was incharged at Kedidi and took a good care of us during our dinner, he manage to be hospitable, friendly and attend to our need despite hectic situation.
