Guest Reviews
- Kevin (10/5): - A
- Nallely (8/5): - Really cute and aesthetic overall, unfortunately double beds are full size and bedrooms only have a fan
- victor (10/5): Three night stay. - Nice room including ceiling fan and a tower fan. Just a few steps away from the Jardin, so the location was perfect. Great value for the price, and super friendly staff.
- Rebeca (10/5): - Loved staying at Hotel Carmina! Everyone was so welcoming and attentive during our stay. Love the rustic feel of the rooms and building. Would definitely recommend staying here!
- Moramay (10/5): - No close parking and extra charge
- Andrea (10/5): - Friendly staff. Great location
- Sonia (10/5): - Very nice and cute hotel. Very nicely kept together. My room was always cleaned and tidy. Staff very welcoming and helpful. I would definitely consider this hotel in the future.
- Silvia Areli (4/5): - Light off
- Scott (10/5): - Beautiful hotel in an amazing location
- Herman (10/5): - So close to everything
- Joaquina (10/5): - Muy buen servicio, exepto por el ruido por las noches.
- Julio (10/5): - Our Stay at Madi was amazing!!!! The property is beautiful, excellent amenities but the best part was the staff, all of the with outstanding customer service.
- Mario (8/5): - Not all rooms have air conditioning, only a ceiling fan.We were there in early May, before the real heat begins. The rooms can get really hot even at this time of the year. When we asked at the reception desk, the young man at the counter blatantly lied and said that NON of the rooms had A/C! We were ready check out and go somewhere else but the lady at the reception desk in charge of the morning shift (sorry, we didn't get her name), she was super nice, she had one of the staff members show us a different room that a portable A/C (because of the age and style/cultural history of the buildings, they can't have any external air conditioning units). We were able to switch rooms and what a difference that made.
The location of the hotel is magnificent, you walk outside the the door and you are only sreps away from one of the main churches and plaza, where at night you can enjoy the Mariachi bands playing and singing, or enjoying an ice cream from one of the many vendors around the plaza, plus plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars.
We most definitely be back to San Miguel De Allende.
P.S. this is grown up town, not many activities for kids (but hey, maybe that's just my thinking).
- Beatriz (10/5): - Great Location.
- Harim (10/5): - Excellent
- Alma (10/5): - Very cozy and warm place
- Verified traveler (4/5): Great staff and restaurant but no A/C and noisy - The staff and restaurant were excellent . The room has no air conditioning so you have to open the actual door into the room and the balcony windows to get air flow when that’s done the noisy street below with cars trucks people walking plus the bells from the cathedral across the street will wake you up 6 it has a ceiling fan but it’s not enough
- Orlando (10/5): - Closed to main center plaza!!!
- Karon (10/5): Steps from the Jardin - Our room was very comfortable and nicely furnished. The location is steps from the Jardín and Parroquia but we never heard the bells. Thick, stone walls keep the hotel cool.
- Carlos (8/5): - There were not hot water all the time. The second day I took a cold shower.
- Gloria (10/5): Location - Hotel is located in a great location. Restaurant on site has great food and surrounding area is great and walkable. The bed was not comfortable and the hotel did not have extra fans. Tbe ceiling fan is nit enough to keep cool.
- Elizabeth C. (10/5): - A delightful hotel with all the charms and ambience of Mexico and at a reasonable price. We will be back again and again.
- Cindy (10/5): - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Carmina. Staff was very friendly and attentive. On sight restaurant had excellent food and drinks, great atmosphere, and friendly staff. Hotel is the perfect location for all things San Miguel. It is right by the square, church, shopping, restaurants, and more. Such great character in the rooms, 21 foot tall ceilings, comfortable king bed, and more. Would definitely stay here again and recommend highly.
- Thomas (8/5): - Staff was very helpful and room cleaned daily. Bottled water provided. Shower had a constant drip; someone was in room unsuccessfully trying to fix it when we arrived. Dropped through out our stay. Hot water in shower very hard to control so showering was difficult. Location is outstanding and open courtyard is beautiful.
- Sally (10/5): - Lovely small hotel in the middle of town right next to the main church. Great spot!
- EDWARD J (10/5): - The place is very charming and private. The convenient location makes exploring easy and the restaurant offers excellent service and food choices.
Highly recommend this hotel.
- Anthony (8/5): - Safe area. Great location. Locals are very pleasant.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great location and room- but noisy at night - Perfect location for seeing the city- right off the main plaza. Great room- w comfortable king bed. Pretty view of sunset over city from our room. Very pretty inner courtyard w lots of bougainvillea and fountain. Staff was helpful. Only downside was that room was very noisy. All the noise from the street echoes into room- and went on till about 2am. Hard to Sleep!
- Juan (6/5): - Certainly it is half a block from the plaza. You can start and finish your day with most iconic places within walking distance. We had an issue with our ceiling fan caused by a blackout. Not the employees fault, but it was quickly addressed by one of their employees. We also had breakfast at their restaurant. And it was delicious. Waiters very attentive.
- Lillian (10/5): - The stay was very nice. Service from staff was always friendly and they were willing to help with questions. The room was cleaned everyday. The restaurant within the hotel(although not part of the hotel) was very good. And the location couldn’t be better.
I would definitely recommend staying at this property without any hesitation.
- Kristin (10/5): - It is truly a beautiful hotel in the next possible location.
- Griselda (8/5): - The property is in a great location, only two minutes away from the main Plaza. The rooms are outdated, but I have to say very clean didn't have a safe box it also didn’t have a ironing board nor an iron and as well, no blow dryer and a lack of amenities
- Michael (10/5): - Third stay here. Next to Parroquia. Very lively area (noisy at night, too).
- Robert (10/5): Perfect Location in San Miguel de Allende - Great hotel in the heart of the historic district. Would stay here again.
- Guy (10/5): - Excellent staff and top notch restaurant on site. The location is very convenient to many sites and dining options. Less than a block to the main square where you can enjoy the atmosphere any time of day or night.
- Karen (6/5): - The staff was great, the dining area and breakfast were excellent. Great location near the Cathedral.
Very noisy doors, so every time someone got to their rooms they would slam the door and they woke us up. And we were near the kitchen so it was very noisy at night and midnight. You could hear the music from the zocalo.
- Jeffrey (8/5): - This small hotel is very nice and the staff actually cares that you are well taken care of. Great location near the Centro. The restaurant is good and the room was clean with nice amenities. You will not always have a hot shower but this is Mexico so get over it.
- Maria (4/5): - Beds were comfortable, place was cleaned daily and it was central to all. But if you plan on getting sleep, then I suggest staying elsewhere. The first morning we were awakened at 6:15 am by a high pitched screeching sound that sounded like pipes that went on for 12 minutes - we timed it. Around 7:30 am the restaurant staff came in and began playing music very loudly and slamming chairs and dishes about. We shared the recording of the pipe noise with the front desk and learned other guests had complained. However, we were awaked the next two days of our stay with the same noise in the early hours and the restaurant noise continued to be an issue. Despite our feedback on numerous occassions, the hotel didn't offer any compensation or even a complimentary breakfast at the restaurant that was disturbing our peace during our four night stay. There are many beautiful, historic and affordable places in SMA that would be a far better stay than here.
- Camille (10/5): - This property is right next to the cathedral. Our balcony opened up directly facing the cathedral and it was simply magical. Our room (room 2) had high vaulted ceilings and garden doors that open up to a central second floor overlooking a charming restaurant! The staff is warm and friendly and everything was spotless! Definitely exceeded our expectations! One thing: if you don’t like church bells ringing around the clock or hearing beautiful singing from Mass then don’t book this hotel. For us it added to the charm and character that this hotel oozes with!
- Blythe (6/5): - I got the basic room, and they meant basic. A bed, 2 night stands with no reading lamps, and not even a chair. No fridge, no coffee maker and the onsite restaurant was… okay. It is in a fantastic location, otherwise I would have switched. Also, I requested a hair dryer twice and it never materialized,
- Stacie (10/5): - Loved it so much we are booking for our wedding guests!
- Brittany (10/5): - Unbeatable location.
- Glenn (8/5): Great place but wish they offered coffee - This would have been 5 stars except they have no in room coffee or even coffee at the desk. The separate onsite restaurant does not open until 8:30 am. Other than that it was very good and well located.
- jose Manuel (10/5): New year 2025 - Super location. Family ambiance. The rooms in new area noise because of the street down below. New plugs needed (usb or C)
- Cynthia (10/5): - We loved our stay. The staff was super helpful and the hotel was so charming. The restaurant has a great breakfast and you cannot beat the location, you can walk everywhere!
- Odalis (10/5): - The staff was very attentive and personable.
- Alfred (10/5): - The location was perfect for walking the old town and enjoying the Jardin Allende during the day, evening, and night. The hotel staff was super friendly and helpful and spoke in English and Spanish, which was great for me to practice my Spanish.
- Fernando (8/5): - Lobby very tight. Have to go outside the patio to enter the elevators
- Graziella (10/5): - The rooms are clean and comfortable the staff is very nice we felt really welcome and had a great time
- Meg (10/5): Christmas in SMA 2024. - I would highly recommend this great hotel. I am picky at times and this hotel was far more then I ever hoped for. Safe was great. Room was clean and very quiet. Location can't be any better just a step away from cathedral! Christmas was spectacular. Will always stay here when visiting. Nothing to complain about at all. I had a room
With no window and was given a new room in am with a lovely view. A heater was provided as it was chilly. My room did not have built in heater. Bed was comfortable and shower was super and oh so hot.
- Dale (10/5): - Exceptional, great location.
- Carmen (10/5): - Great hotel & location
- emilio (10/5): - The staff went above and beyond to help me out to solve my problem. EXCELLENT customer service!!!
- Ana M (8/5): - Great location, excellent staff.
- Pamela (10/5): Loved This Hotel - Beautiful and historical hotel with amazing location. Excellent restaurant at the hotel.
- Minerva (10/5): - Everything was centralized around the hotel
- Steven (10/5): - Everything about this property is wonderful, in my experience. I think of my stay and I smile. Breakfast in the courtyard each morning was wonderful. My room was so clean and comfortable. The staff were always so helpful and welcoming. I will definitely return, probably next Fall.
- Joel (10/5): Great little boutique hotel in Zona Central - Very nice boutique hotel right off the main square next to the Parroquia. No real negatives or surprises. This was our first time in SMA. We were in the back of the hotel so noise was not a problem. We could hear the bells from the church however I think that would be the case anywhere in the Zona Central, maybe a little louder since we were right next door. The room was a little smaller than I expected but updated and clean. Housekeeping was very good and responsive to our requests. The food at restaurant in the lobby was very good but, obviously, with so many other options within a short walk, we only ate there a couple of times for convenience. Don’t plan on sleeping in though. There seemed to be a lot of loud closing of doors starting around 7. Overall, would definitely stay there again.
- Emma (10/5): - Great location.
- Lilia (6/5): - Beautiful hotel, picturesque. Loved the handmade sope, bar of shampoo and conditioner. Excellent cleaning staff.
Improvements could be made to hard bed and cold showers.
- Brenda (10/5): - Perfect location, close to everything. Felt super safe at night. It is a little loud at nights in the area, but my husband and I are use to sleeping with a fan on as white noise so that wasn’t a problem at all for us. Bed was very comfortable. We felt at home, very cozy!
- Marlene (2/5): - I did not want to share this but the problem was never resolved. We found cockroaches in our room, twice. The room we booked was not what was given to us and they said that in the description it mentioned that the room you see when booking is not guaranteed. And i understand that but our biggest concern was that there were roaches in our room around our clothes and I’m not okay with that.
- scott (10/5): - Perfect location
- Arturo (8/5): - Excellent location, great Hotel and staff.
- Esperanza (10/5): - Amazing
- kathryn (10/5): - The staff at this lovely old hotel could not have been sweeter.
- maria (10/5): - I love this place! great location and great customer service
- Reyna (10/5): - Beautiful hotel and so close by the center
- Silvia (10/5): - Our stay was excellent. Staff always very friendly and helpful. Food at the restaurant was great.
- Jose (10/5): - I love this hotel very well kept up. Very quiet very nice people. Great hosts great food great everything
- Genesis (10/5): - The hotel is lovely. It’s located at El Centro and everything is close by. The front desk was always helpful. The rooms were clean. We stayed a couple of nights and we had a pleasant time.
The church bells ring in the morning. But the noise is tolerable.
We look forward to going back to this hotel.
- Estela (6/5): - This hotel is so beautiful and full of culture. The bed was quite small for a king sized bed. Although it didn’t have an air conditioner, it had a fan. The stairs were hard to climb to the second floor.
- JESUS (6/5): - Minor complaints, no AC available in the rooms but it did have a ceiling fan. There's a restaurant on the property however no ice available upon request to you room.
- Erica (10/5): - SERVICE IS AWESOME AND KIND
- Paul (10/5): - This lovely hotel is remarkably well located en El Centro, historic and beautifully maintained/remodeled, and the staff is warm and hospitable, the perfect example of San Miguel de Allende hospitality!
- Georgina (8/5): - The property is a beautiful colonial building with all of its rustic charm. The location is prime, but can be loud as you're steps from the main plaza and church. If you're looking for peace and quiet, this is not the place to stay. The noisy plaza and church bells are sure to keep you up.
- Nancy (10/5): - Spotlessly clean. Location is a 10! Restaurant was excellent. We really enjoyed our 4 night stay.
- Sandra (10/5): - El Hotel es muy bonito, grande y tranquilo; las habitaciones son amplias y cómodas y en general el servicio es excelente.
Lo recomiendo ampliamente.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Overall, ok. - Seems to be over priced, possibly on hotels.com. I'd check the website next time too. Stayed there Sun & Mon night & by Mon we were the only guests but price was still quite high.
Good location, to the plaza and streets around. Nice veranda overlooking the restaurant below (it's separate to the "hotel"). I liked the colonial style of the place.
We got a double bedroom, with a western facing window. Simple, clean, comfortable enough. But no amenities at all. Fan only and for those in the veranda rooms it seemed to be quite hot.
Staff were nice but there is a language barrier and the music does play loudly from some place close by.
- shawn (10/5): - Excellent location - the property is very nice and well appointed. I would go back !
- Carlos (10/5): - Loved the hotel.
- cristina (10/5): - Amazing stay location was great and super clean hotel
- cristina (10/5): Couples weekend - Perfect location clean hotel and beautiful stay all around
- Dexter (10/5): - Great hotel. Clean, staff very helpful, beds were comfortable. Perfect location and walking distance to restaurants, souvenir shops, etc. highly recommended.
- J (10/5): - Hotel Carmina is like a home away from home. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are large and the staff very friendly and accommodating. There is a restaurant on the ground floor and it is great. The heart of the town is only a step outside of the front door of the hotel. The Parroquia and the Jardin are a few feet away.
- Irma V (10/5): - Location of property was perfect.
- Doreen (10/5): - A pleasant. We’ll situated hottt dry l
- Angela (10/5): - Stayed 2 nights. Loved the location across from church and 100ft from park. We would differently stay at Hotel
Hotel Carmina in the
- linda (10/5): - Great location, wonderful breakfast at a reasonable price, huge room, great staff. Judith and the other staff members were so helpful to us, and can’t beat the location!! This is the place to stay!
- K. Michael (10/5): - I stayed at this property last year and returned again this year. The location is perfect. The hotel is divided into two sections. One, the old colonial house that has been converted into hotel rooms. Two, is the newer addition, in which the rooms are similar. Both times I have stayed in the older section, where the rooms are quite different from each other-layout, view, etc. There is a restaurant, that does not appear to be operated by the hotel, which serves good meals from breakfast through late afternoon.
- Robert (10/5): I recommend this hotel. - This hotel is nice and comfortable with an excellent location. Lots of water pressure and good internet. It is right in centro so was a little noisy. One issue is that for the same price some rooms were better than others. For instance our first room had no balcony and was a little small but our friends had a better room for the same money. I complained and the hotel was nice enough to change my room. Overall we were very happy with the hotel and the service. It took a while to get our car via valet because it was a holiday weekend but it was fine n the end. You are literally about a block from the church in centro. I recommend the place.
- Doreen (10/5): - This is a well-kept hotel accessible to everything
- David (8/5): - Nice room. A little noisy at night.
- J (10/5): - I stayed at the Hotel Carmina on New Year’s Eve for four days I think. This was a very busy time for them but they still had time to tend to my needs. I got food poisoning not sure where, but the house keeper assigned to my room was excellent and even came to see if I needed more water. My experience there was fantastic. The rooms are huge. There is a lovely restaurant in the hotel. And it is only a few feet from the heart of the city, the Parroquia and the Jardin. I would definitely return.
- Javier (10/5): - Great stay in the heart of San Miguel! So many walkable places. Great, friendly staff that went above and beyond to make sure everything our stay great!
- MARNIE (10/5): - location location location
the staff is great!
the rooms are amazing!
price is on point!
- Julio (6/5): - Close to restaurants and main plaza.
- Alejandro (4/5): - The location is nice, however there are other nice hotels in the same area. I dislike that they email me to tell me about parking and I let them know that I didn't need parking and they gave me parking as a perk, really?
When we arrived our room was not ready so we got another room, which had a king size bed, but it was really basic and when showering water didn't drain.
Finally, the guy that stay overnight at the front desk is super bad. I asked him for help because the TV was not working and he didn't want to go help and I also asked about restaurants a different day and the same, he didn't want to help. I don't understand why he works in that position if he is now willing to help.
- Sheri (10/5): - We thoroughly enjoyed Hotel Carmina and would stay there again. The location is superb! It is steps from the center right in the historic district.
