Guest Reviews
- Grzegorz (8/5): A place to remember, a place to come back. - The main advantage of the apartment is its location - with the windows facing the Grand Canal, a bit away from the main walkways, it is very quiet - the only sound we could hear were the vaporetti outside our windows (the bedroom windows overlook the inner courtyard). Very spacious, warm and well-equipped, it met our expectations and even exceeded them. Check-in is a bit awkward: we had to call a local phone number to have the gate opened, then we had a code for the entrance door, and then we found the keys inside. The interior is designed in kind of shabby chic style: full of old furniture, books, records, paintings, lamps and random bric-a-brac, - so it is not difficult to find dust here and there. I do not put this in the cons section because for us it was not a problem: we loved the old-fashioned style of the apartment and it would be hard to keep it all free of dust on daily basis. Moreover, it felt more like someone's home than a short-term rental, but if you are on the shiny/sterile side - you may want to reconsider. The bathroom was pristine clean, though, the bed large and comfy, rads and shower nice and hot when needed, and our host very helpful and responsive.
Overall - we never take the same place to stay on holidays, but in this case we would gladly make an exception. We had to empty the bin before leaving the apartment, which was a bit inconvenient. The garbage collection system in Venice is specific and this wasn't unique to this property, but walking around with a waste bag and looking for a garbage boat is not our favorite way to spend a morning on vacation. Also, we found some house rules hilarious, like "Cleaning of the kitchen is not included", of "It's forbidden to fry and leave fish smell". However, all these were only minor issues.
- Noy (4/5): Derelict. Doesn't worth the money. Dirty. Uncomfortable. They do bare minimum. Avoid. - The location on the grand canal was beautiful though hard to enjoy the view (see below...), and there is a vibe to being in an old fashioned venezian house with its beautiful windows and some antiques.
Using a code instead of a key is great
The bed was quite comfortable though it was two singles which is annoying. *READ BEFORE BOOKING!!!*
Doesn't deserve its rating, would have given even less to balance it.
They did bare minimum to accomodate us and dont maintain the apartment: Everything is dirty and/or broken - carpets, stains on a BROKEN sofa's and chairs' covers(they are too old and instead of preservation they cover it with old stained fabrics), curtains, kitchenware, cutboard,hangers...
lightbulbs are missing and the room is dark, MOLD on bathroom ceiling which is just due to lack of cleaning and ventilation, the douch is clogged.
Living room isn't comfortable. nowhere to sit and enjoy the view. We found some extra linen and covered everything so it wont be so discusting and we're no Hygiene freaks...they don't care for making the stay nice for u.
USED dish sponge, DILUTED broken hand soap someone probably left. BAD communication with "host" (this is a rental management company so it doesn't seem they care for the place)
I contacted Thomas about the dish sponge and also asked for pillow covers for extra pillows, he said we can buy a spong &they will pay us back. Come on, is that what I need to do in my vacation??
Regarding the pillow covers he just answered there aren't extra pillows other than the two provided, even though there were and I knew there were from other reviews.
Lots of instructions and warnings everywhere about extra fees and how you should take care of your trash and seperate it for recycling and take it out till 8:30 am but there are no exra bags for trash, no special bins nore a bin in the toilets.. and as a bonus in Saturday evening we got an automated message that there's no trash services in Sunday so we should take care of the trash ourselves beforehand - but it was too late so we had to check out and carry our trash through Venice until we found a solution.
Bad experience, and honestly you're gonna be surrounded by canals anyway, just find a nice clean location to sleep at.
- Soorma (10/5): Exceptional -
- Therese (10/5): Perfect character home in a perfect location - It felt like we stepped into a home that the home owners just walked out of back in time like 50-100 years ago.
It was our favourite stay of our trip thus far and we will all ways treasure our stay here. Nothing really
