Attempts to contact the owner on the emergency mobile number and booking.com chat were unsuccessful so I had 4 grumpy girls all day who couldn’t start the day with a wash. The staff member was very apologetic but it still ruined our trip. A basic hotel like this just needs a comfy bed and a working shower. It only had one

- Dean (2/5): My terrible stay - It was cheap but still overpriced for what I recieved When I opened the door to the room it smelled of a damp and foisty smell which I couldn't stand . I had to sleep with the window open due to the smell of damp which meant I was cold all night and kept awake by passing traffic .the bed sheets had mucky marks on them and looked to be unwashed , the television did not work properly and it was just an unpleasant experience all in all .

- Shane (8/5): A great stay in York city centre - We recently stayed at Diamonds Inn and had a great stay. The location is absolutely fantastic! York Minster is just a short stroll away, and the city walls are practically on the doorstep, making it incredibly easy to explore everything this wonderful city has to offer. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped with everything you need. The staff were genuinely welcoming. If you're visiting York this well-located guesthouse is great and offers great prices N/A

Excellent value for money in an expensive city like York. We arrived late so did self check in which worked fine apart from no help given about the overnight parking option which we had requested.

Our room was clean and comfortable The only thing I didn't like, was if we needed the toilet, or shower we had to leave our room and go out, and onto the landing. It would of been better if the rooms had dressing gowns. Especially for males. Who don't wear pj's

- Emma (10/5): Brilliant location - The location was brilliant. Check in and parking reservation was very easy. The staff was very polite and helpful. The fire alarm is very sensitive. My husband had a shower, sprayed deodorant, opened the bathroom door which set off the fire alarm. Had to wait 20 mins for staff to arrive and disable the alarm.

We had a family room with 3 kids and it was up 5 flights of stairs.... weve stayed before and the room was on the ground floor ... we were crammed into a room which although had ok facilities it was just a faff with the children and the luggage..

Кімната дуже компактна і для мене була би незручна, якщо орендувати на 3-4 дні або тиждень.

- Julica (8/5): Ideal for a short city stay. - The hotel is very well situated on a quiet street yet only a stone's throw from the city centre. The room was clean, bed comfy, coffee,tea and a bottle of water supplied. The price was very fair with the offer of parking for £7 a stay (a bargain in York). No receptionist present. Everything arranged over the phone which is not ideal when you have to use a foreign phone at risk of running out of "minutes".

Tea and coffee was available and the bed were very comfy and cosy! Nothing I didn’t like really! - Sanchez Palos (8/5): LIMPIO - BUENA UBICACION - COLCHÓN EN MAL ESTADO - HUSPEDES MOLESTOS - Si, el alojamiento estaba muy bien. Principalmente los huéspedes de la habitación 1 que hicieron muchísimo ruido y era imposible dormir. Nos quejamos a la recepcionista y nos dijo vendría el guardia nocturno. Por allí no fue absolutamente nadie. La hora del Check-out debería de ser a las 11 que de tiempo a descansar un poco más. Por otro lado el colchón muy mal estado, los muelles casi me atraviesan una costilla. Por lo demás todo genial.
- Lee (6/5): Decent place to stay and well located. - The building felt clean and looked after. The bed was comfortable. The location for exploring York was good. The room was also well equipped. I got a decent rest. I also quite liked that it's a Georgian town house. There was a fridge in the room which, for me, was quite loud when it was chilling and the walls seemed relatively thin so I could hear the hum from other fridges too (noting that I'm overly sensitive to this sort of thing).

Friendly staff and we had booked the budget double with shared bathroom but were given a room with ensuite which was lovely of them. Small shower gels, shampoos and conditioners available and tea and coffee. Mini fridge and hair dryer in room which was a welcome touch. Very comy bed and bedding. Next door couple having a screaming match which was very audible however we only heared other guests on one night.

We were locked outside with our kids and luggage. We had to call the number at the front, and we didn't have data/cell service. We're from Canada, and I fear what that phone call will cost me when we get home. Once we talked to someone, they gave us the code to enter. It would have been helpful to have this code beforehand, as the phone call is going to cost me more than the price of our room.

My advice would be to phone the office when you’re close to show you wher - Everything, staff were lovely and welcoming; and the room was just as advertised. The location, because there is no easy parking by the location so I had to drive around for a while looking for parking to check in, and was so glad when staff made contact and directed me to their reserve parking lot.

The ensuite was clean and had little bottles of shampoo etc which was lovely. The location was perfect for me. I was met by a lovely lady. There was a choice of lighting which was nice. I felt secure and safe. The kettle was clean, as were the mugs and there was a fridge. I would book here again. The only downside was when I tried to hang my clothes up and the rail in the wardrobe fell down but that was a minor detail.

Value for money was very good too We couldn’t find anywhere that tells us we had to pay for parking, but it didn’t spoil our stay. The separate bathroom we thought would be an issue throughout the stay but it wasn’t , because the sink in the room helped a lot for brushing our teeth and washing our hands and faces.

Det eneste problemet jeg hadde var at rommet var altfor varmt, og klima i rommet var tett og lukter gammelt. Teppe på gulvet er litt støvet. Rommet er lettlyd. Du hører naboen godt hva de prater om. Jeg burde på rom nummer 2 og hører godt rommet nummer 1. Det er felles tilgang for de to rommene. Hvis jeg noen gang kommer i York igjen, ville jeg IKKE kommet tilbake hit.

Location is great nd very close to the town centre with convenient on-street parking. All in all I was happy with my stay. The shower stopped working while I was in it. I messaged the staff to make them aware. It was after 6pm so wasn't overly surprised at no reply, but was offered to use another shower in the morning. Also, the listing specified free parking. This is not the case. I was asked to pay £7 for a space on the street outside the property. I genuinely didn't mind paying the money as the property is literally a stones-through from the city centre. Parking anywhere in York is a nightmare and the price was reasonable for an overnight stay. My only grumble is the listing is/was misleading.
