- Daniel (8/5): Apart from check in, and poor tv (no aerial) it was fine - N8ce apartment, great location Very hard to chexk in, once id paid, booking.com, i still couodnt get access until i filled out a vedy long for and had to pay a £150 deoosit, so it delayed me a lot as this wasnt explained, also the tv us a waate of time no signal for even terrestrial tv !!!
- Paula (6/5): It has been better - We book this apartment because it suits our needs. We are usually satisfied with the apartments we book but on this occasion we were a little disappointed. Firstly, we had a piece of glass left on the kitchen window sill, the en-suite bathroom looked, in parts, like it was in the process of being refurbished and the television still doesn’t work. It never has. Luckily, we don’t need it so much.
There used to be kitchen roll in the kitchen and handwash in the bathrooms and kitchen - unfortunately this is no longer the case. These little ‘touches’ make all the difference when staying away from home. Sorry, I wish I could be more positive.

- Sean (1/5): Disappointing - Location was fine. Size of the rooms were fine. The apartment was well below the standard in the photos online so we were quite shocked when we arrived.
Issues were:
1. Not clean

3. Internet not working.
4. Lack of soap, teabags, coffee, basic amenities.
5. Marks/stains on carpet & walls.
6. TV cable loose on back of tv so no TV.

Rotting chicken left in the oven sent multiple videos and pictures of the oven. Their solution was to offer a new apartment the evening before we left.As an update three weeks after leaving the property they are still holding onto my deposit...."issues occurring whilst processing refunds".

- Tammy (1/5): Avoid and look at somewhere else! - Our stay at The Payment Club was an outright disgrace and completely unacceptable. Upon entering the apartment, we were hit with an overwhelming stench of cooked onions—stale, pungent, and nauseating. We immediately had to open the balcony doors just to breathe properly. This was not the welcome we expected.
Although the bedding was clean, there was only one pillow per bed. One. For any average adult, let alone anyone with basic spinal alignment, this is simply inadequate. Are guests expected to bring their own pillows?
It got worse. The fridge reeked of rot, and the cooker and hob were covered in old, burnt grime—completely unusable. We were forced to eat out for the duration of our stay, despite expecting self-catering facilities that we paid for. This is a massive inconvenience, especially when traveling with children.
To add insult to injury, nothing worked.
The heating: broken.
The TV: broken.
The hot water: non-existent.
We raised these issues immediately and sent multiple complaints—only to be told that an engineer wouldn’t be available until Monday. We were left to endure these unacceptable conditions, with two young children, in a cold apartment, unable to cook, bathe properly, or relax.
This is absolutely appalling, and far below any basic standard of accommodation. We would strongly advise anyone against staying at this property. We are actively seeking compensation for:
The cost of meals we were forced to eat out.
The cleaning products we had to purchase just to make the space barely tolerable.
The general discomfort, disruption, and complete failure to provide the services promised.
We expect this complaint to be taken seriously.

clean and cozy they even go the extra mile to provide things like dishwashing liquid, etc. no full mirror, shower in en suite was difficult almost impossible to use, so used guest bath.

- Nerina (4/5): Good location however very overpriced considering that apartment is in need of refurbishment. - The cleaning staff were very nice and helpful. Maintenance staff were also very helpful and came out promptly for any issues. However there were problems with the flat that they were unable to resolve. The property had a very bad smell of urine. The Wi-Fi did not work in Flat 5 so it was impossible for me to work. The TV also did not work.

- Joseph (5/5): Not at all happy with the stay. Very stressful. - The keys were not available. We eventually were informed we had been booked into the wrong apartment. After several phone calls we had to wait a stressful hour for someone to come and sort out the issues. The apartment was very run down and smelly with stained carpets and a very dirty, worn and stained sofa. Also the tv didn't work.

- Susan (4/5): Very disappointing, stains on sofa and carpet, TV provided for people to log onto their own account. - It was very convenient our needs. Beds were comfy It isn’t made clear in the information online that there is only parking for one car. After several emails and a telephone conversation we got agreement that we could park the second car.
I had to pay a housekeeping bond, which seems ironic as there was two large stains on the sofa and many marks on the carpets and walls. For the price we paid, I would have expected clean carpets and upholstery.
The information on the website advises that there is a TV. There is, but it isn’t set up to show normal TV channels. It can only be used by inputting your own log in details for Netflix, IPlayer, ITVx etc. We didn’t realise this and the staff we were emailing didn’t either. They just kept saying that the TV was working. They didn’t once advise that we couldn’t access normal TV channels.
There is very little crockery and cooking utensils. The bare minimum is supplied.
The curtains in the bedroom at the back didn’t reach the windowsill as they were too short so let light in. They were very cheap and flimsy anyway.
Only comfy seating for three, the fourth person had to sit on a dining chair.
All in all a very disappointing stay for the money we paid. Definitely over priced.

Getting into bed the smell of urine in bed wasn't very nice. The oven smoked quite bad when in use. The microwave inside was quite rusty so never used it. Carpets in lounge were very stained in places. Bathrooms were good. But no bathmats. There was plenty of hot water. I would stay again if it was a lot cleaner. And oven and microwave were replaced. For the money paid. I was very disappointment. I feel the owners of the property should check more often on cleanliness and update electric appliances. Location was great!! And size of property was really good.

- Adam (2/5): Wouldn’t rush back - The location and ease of entry The place absolutely stank of smoke, which we’re still having to wash out of clothes. There were stains all over the carpets. The toilets hadn’t been cleaned properly. The sofa in the living room looked like it was pulled from a skip and sank in the middle. There were food crumbs and odour in the fridge the general hygiene was disgusting. We’ve stayed here before in the upper block and it was very clean as it was new.
- Darryl (10/5): Very comfortable apart from the firm that wants the £150 deposit which will pay you back within 48 hours of you checking - Could not fault the property very clean very tidy very impressive but had loads of trouble trying to pay £150 deposit for the company that collected deposits after you booked it with Booking.com after an hour and a half and about 10 phone calls they eventually allowed you to do it on bank transfer, which would’ve been much easier in the first place rather than fill a 500 word essay to prove who you are so you could pay the £150 but apart from that it was a lovely stay The property was fantastic
- Kathleen (1/5): AVOID, AVOID - Nothing Everything, I recieved scam emails, phone calls and messages because I booked with this company via booking. Booking done nothing to help. The company requested £150 and photo ID which the scammers where also requesting to recieve check I details. It does not say on terms and conditions you need to provide ID before arrival which booking is also aware off. Your information shared to this company and booking.com is not secure. Avoid, they recieved to cooperate and cancel booking as I refused to click any links because of the scammers I would have been happy to provide on arrival to avoid scammers but they refused to give out check in information to the apartment if I didn't pay and send ID again AVOID. If booking does not put this review on site I will be deleting my account with them as this will prove all reviews are not legitimate. I am also on genius level 4 as I always use booking.com which I am happy to remove because of the way this has been dealt with.

- Conor (4/5): - The furniture was beat up and the carpet is disgusting. Took a plate out of the cupboard and it had been put I there without being washed (still had butter and jam on it!). All cutlery looked dirty so washed anything before I used it. Water was hot at least, heating worked fine, and bedding seemed clean, but overall the place just felt beat up and dirty unfortunately. Had issues with parking too, and the lights in the hallway never worked so had to walk up/down 3 flights of stairs in the dark, and when i message the management company they never responded. Also the front door was wide open every time I went down stairs..so a security concern. We paid for 2 nights but honestly would not have stayed a second night if I could have got my money back.

We had issues getting in, the wrong key was in the wrong safe box and it meant we were stuck outside in very hot weather with 2 autistic children while we rang and rang for assistance.
It was also filthy inside, didn’t look like it had been cleaned. Bedding, walls etc…was told it had a deep clean but there was a lot that could have been done with a quick wipe around.

- Matt (1/5): Horrible, the place needs a revamp and deep clean, it won’t let me post pictures of what the apartment is really like . - The location was good for where we needed to be The property was filthy! The first thing we did was take photos and send to the apartment managers as we thought it hadn’t been cleaned! Stains on the floor, food in the fridge, food had exploded all over the microwave, burnt food on the hob, bits of dirty all over the carpet, hairs in the bed, white marks on the grey head board and black marks on the pillows, due to it been so dirty the whole place had a grimy smell. I did look for cleaning products and a vac to clean it myself but the apartment had nothing.
The showers also didn’t work-one had no head on it, the other water came out of the side rather than the head, the curtain pole was hanging of the wall, there was a leak from over flow pipe in cupboard, chips on the coffee table and marks on the sofa, the glasses were also dirty with finger prints and lipstick marks on them. If we hadn’t arrived so late and were attending a funeral the next day we would have left.
The company weren’t bothered as they already had our money.

- Hamish (3/5): Absolutely terrible apartment and would not recommend to anyone to stay here! - Nothing other than the location. Close to Hertford town centre The apartment was filthy and had not been cleaned since the weekly boarders had left. The cleaners claimed they had not been told to clean it as there was nobody going into the apartment. The Company claimed the cleaners must have forgotten!
The en-suite bathroom wall was mouldy and the shower head leaked. This was probably because the ventilation fan did not work. It also did not work in the main bathroom.
The king size bed had a 3/4 size duvet on it, placed in a king size duvet cover sideways! We ended up sleeping in separate beds because of this.
The fridge door shelves had all been removed (or broken). The hob in the kitchen was dirty and we would not use it.
There was also a damp patch on the wall of the bedroom with mould.
The shower head in the en-suite leaked and the mirror and shelf were ready to fall off due to the screws being extremely loose on the bottom of the mirror.
Door handle on the bedroom door: the retaining cap had been cross threaded and could not be removed or tightened
All the cushions from the bedrooms and the lounge had to be removed because they stunk of sweat and stale beer.

- Justin (1/5): If you want to wait 16 days for your safety deposit book here - Nothing, they completely screwed me over when it came to there 250 pound safety deposit. It took them 16 days for them to return my money. I left the place spotless. Will never book with a Payman club property ever again. I called them 5 times to get my money but they said policy was 16 days. 16!

- Emma (7/5): Good - The apartment is spacious, with decent facilities. It has everything you need for a self catering stay. The area is quiet and feels safe. Some of the facilities are tired. For example - the hob settings have rubbed off the knobs, and you have to guess which knob is for which hob and how the temperature gauge works.
It also would benefit from a good clean. It felt grubby.

- Peter (1/5): Bad - When we arrived there was bedding and towels missing, the apartment had a very strong smell of cigarette smoke, it wasn't very clean and there were several stains on the carpets and furniture. When we raised this with the hosts they suggested we move to a different apartment which we did, but there was still insufficient bedding and towels. The hosts said they could drop the missing duvet covers and towels the following morning, which they didn't. By the time we had sourced the missing duvet covers and towels ourselves the whole check in process took around 4 hours. We were staying in Hertford to attend my father's funeral and we found the whole experience stressful and wholly unacceptable. The hosts have been reluctant to discuss any meaningful compensation for the genuine increased costs and inconvenience we experienced or explanation for the poor service.

Booked with Booking.Com to find another payment before getting code for key. Refused our card. Refused Cash. None of our cards worked on their website. We didn’t have a phone to have for verification, just WiFi. Relative in UK tried calling to pay with his card. Wouldn’t accept. Hours later, we were given the code. Deposited the bond into their bank account. Didn’t arrive. Who knows why? Paid direct to them for another two nights to find we are told to leave as the funds haven’t shown on their account. The apartment was in need of a thorough clean. The kettle & coffee maker were putrid. The cleaning lady came and cleaned again and apologised. I’m carrying two cash cards and two different bank cards. Husband has three bank cards one being a UK card, none worked. Won’t take cash!

- Janet (10/5): Very pleasant stay - we were visiting relatives nearby. - The apartment was spacious & light and airy with a very nice balcony. Excellent parking right outside. The apartment was on the 3rd floor - a lift would have been a bonus as we were travelling with rather large suitcases.

Comfortable and mostly clean. Plenty of space inside, and the balcony was an added bonus. There was an odour in the apartment upon arrival that never went away, like smoke fumes in the carpet. Needed to have all the windows/doors open, which is fine in the summer, but probably not when it's colder.
- Olatunde (1/5): Terrible accommodation, terrible customer service, poorly trained staff. - Absolutely nothing. Staff is condescending and rude. Company holds on to your security deposit and they don't pay you back. When you ask for it, they ignore you and send an emotionless one line message saying they will not do anything about it and that it's your problem to worry about. The customer service is abysmally poor. Shower was faulty for days, they didn't seem bothered about the inconvenience. Asked for compensation for the inconvenience, they have done nothing about it for months. Still haven't received my security deposit for months now, and frankly it looks suspicious that they are not doing anything about it. Everything from the booking till check out was a nightmare. This is unarguably the worst accommodation I ever stayed in. For the benefit of your mental health and wellbeing, please stay away.
