- Rebecca (8/5): - The pool area is really good vibes, with comfy / padded sunbeds (not always the case in Colombia!!) Good sized rooms with comfy bed and good AC. Plus a fridge to keep the water cold. Short walk into Palomino centre along the beach. Staff were so helpful and made delicious cocktails. The Wi-Fi doesn’t reach the rooms - not a problem for us but just to note. The breakfast was ok but the coffee could have been better.

El baño tenía una luz que se activaba con sensor de movimiento de muy corta duración y eso hacía muy incomodo usarlo de noche

Que encontré caca de murciélago en las almohadas, la cama y el baño, las ventanas un poco sucias y los grifos viejos antiguos. El precio fue demasiado alto en relación con la habitaciones. Hubiera pagado la mitad. Y eso.

El precio en total para 4 personas toda la semana santa pagamos con alimentación 4 millones de pesos. Y la comida era muy rica en el restaurante. Les aclaro que la alimentación fue con cocteles, bebidas etc. Sugeriría más variedad en productos de café. 🥹

- FATIMA (9/5): Un lugar para descansar - El personal es muy amable y siempre están limpias las instalaciones. La comida es deliciosa. La playa cada vez es más pequeña. Es un tema de problemas naturales ajenos al alojamiento.
- Claudia (8/5): - La tranquilidad para el descanso, la amabilidad de todo el personal y el paisaje del lugar. Aunque no se puede disfrutar de la playa, ni el.mar porque es muy fuerte el oleaje y con mucha piedra qué arroja el mismo mar. No me gusto qye las habitaciones no tienen forma para tener iluminación natural, son muy oscuras porque no tienen persianas para abrir en el dia y ver la vista qué se tiene. Tampoco hay mucha variedad en la carta del restaurante en general y menos para los niños. La piscina no la limpian bien todos los dias y mi hija salio con el vestido completamente verde de la suciedad de la misma vegetación. Problemas con el servicio de agua para aseo personal. El lavamanos tenía una llave muy alta, que al abrirla se salpiicaba todo alrededor de la zona del lavamanos, el piso, la ropa que se tenga puesta. Tampoco habia variedad en los desayunos, casi tosos los dias lo mismo de desayuno, huevos, arepas de harina, arroz, poquita fruta, jugo, bebida caliente. Y uno de los dias fue a la carta pero no me llego lo que pedí, luego pido el cambio y tampoco me llega lo que pedí, dejar asi y comer lo que me trajeron porque se iba a demorar mas y para evitar desperdiciar comida. Y algo un poco mas delicado, qué aunque al hotel llegan familias y parejas de todo tipo, se debería tener en cuenta no permitir consumir licor dentro de la piscina, por seguridad de todos y sobre todo para los niños.

- Carson (4/5): Beautiful location but otherwise not worth the money - The location is amazing and the pools are nice, bed was comfortable enough Our room didnt have screens on the windows and this area had tons of bugs and wildlife, so we had bug issues in the room and lizards on the walls at night, lol. Lizards were fine, but for the money spent we we're left a bit flabbergasted. No AC and our room had no TV. Room didn't really have windows so unless the slider things were completely open exposing the room to bugs and critters, your view is just the shutters. Also, while the location is scenic, it is pretty far from the 'downtown'/night life/restaurant area of Palomino. About a twenty minute walk if you take the beach route. I rarely leave 'meh' reviews and tend only to review places that we loved, but felt my opinion needed airing on this one.

If you want a couple of relaxing, inspiring days spent looking out to sea, with the kids chilling in the sand underneath the swaying coconut palms (not directly under obviously!). But lounging poolside, comfy accommodation, restaurant onsite with nice food. Do it, treat yourself. It’s at the top end of budget if you’re thinking hmmm is it worth it - the answer is yup. The staff are lovely, if you lean into it obviously, don’t be an entitled wanker, talk to the housekeepers, groundskeepers, engage with them, you’ll get the best out of your stay. Shout out to the great front of house staff - Millie, Adriana, Paula, Selena, the housekeepers were soooo lovely, as were the maintenance guys. Great team. Great location. The only disapointment from the whole stay was on checkout, where you assess your bill, and fair enough, there’s a large chunk for propinas (tips), unfortunately they don’t share these across the whole team - just the restaurant and kitchen staff. That was a let down, as the groundskeepers and housekeepers looked like they were working the hardest out of everyone. One team, one dream. Hotel Cheniu looks like it is selling the dream, but with two teams. And I’m an entitled wanker who has spent his whole life growing up and working in hospitality and leading big teams at various international places. A days work in housekeeping is unapologetically hard and often invisible. ‘Service’ starts in the back of house with hot water and clean rooms. The owners should recognise that and share the tips with them. Eliminate resentment, and watch your team gel and thrive.

Dadurch kann Mannes viel Ruhe wunderbar entspannen! Es fehlte öfters das Brot. Der morgendliche Obsttwller könnte reichlicher sein. Ich dachte immer in Kolumbien wächst das Obst reichlich. Gleich "um die Ecke" sind riesige Bananenplantagen? Aber diese Kritik bitte nicht überbewerten!

El hotel tiene mucho potencial solo falta un buen administrador! El servicio al cliente me pareció muy mediocre. No asean bien la piscina ni los cojines de las sillas reclinables, así que se ven sucias y siempre están mojadas. Tampoco responden el celular ni los mensajes de WhatsApp a tiempo.

- Maria (2/5): Mala experiencia, un hostal sería mejor - La piscina óptima para niños y su cercanía con el mar, su ubicación es buena El aseo de la habitación muy malo muchas cucarachas y sancudos dejan ver la falta de limpieza y fumigación. Nunca se acercó el administrador para validar lo que pasaba con la habitación, el aire acondicionado goteaba sobre la cama, pocas toallas. Los platos fuertes son muy costosos para las porciones, el servicio a la mesa puede mejorar. Se hizo la reserva por booking y luego indicaban que estaba incompleta.

Algunos elementos necesitan mantenimiento, como por ejemplo la mesa de billar. así mismo, es una oportunidad de mejora el servicio del restaurante, el almuerzo estuvo delicioso, pero en la cena casi todo lo tenían agotado, ni siquiera había café.
- Ward (7/5): - The location is very good, with an spacious garden with palm trees and two swimming pools and direct access to the beach. All the hotels more to the west have serious problems with coastal erosion, impacting their business and the beachfront. This hotel luckily has a bit more space before the sea will swallow their terrain (check coastal erosion articles Palomino). The room we had was a family room and thus spacious for a couple of two. They have massage facility on premises as well as a restaurant. The biggest plus is the direct access to the beach and swimming pools the moment you step out your room. I paid around 97 Euro per night (with Genius discount) for a family room, which i doable but quite some points they could improve, see below. The internet (wifi) doesn't reach to the rooms, so you have to move to reception or restaurant (as we had to do some work, quite annoying). The rooms are not fantastically clean, eg 3cm of dust on the fan tubes. Some holes in the insect grids in the bathroom allow insects (cockroaches, mosquitos) to come inside. The shower water is cold only, and when we had a rainy day its not really comfortable. Outside our room there was a strong disgusting sewer smell. The food from the restaurant is very average for the price they ask, we have eaten 80 percent in restaurants in the town (but count to walk about 15-20 min to the town). Also the restaurant space is relatively occupied with the number of guests of the hotel, sometimes there was no or almost no space to sit. They had several comfortable beach/ pool chairs but lacking of cushions to complete all the chairs. I had the impression that often non hotel guests also make use of the chairs on the beach.

La falta de mantenimiento y descuido de la administración es evidente, la ubicación es bonita y el restaurante es bueno.
