Guest Reviews
- Tomasz (9/5): - Nice and cosy hostel located just a couple of minutes of walk from Republic Square close to many attraction and shops ,slightly away main streets so in quiet zone , you can sleep well undisturbed by noise of the city. If someone likes to feel like in grandma home and to taste home maded breakfast I can strongly recommend it.
- Yevhenii (8/5): -
- Damiano (10/5): -
- mohsen (3/5): Was not worth for money - The breakfast and the beds are not like the picture
- Lyudmila (3/5): - Прекрасные радушные хозяева,очень стараются, но...опасно Клопы
- Arandian (6/5): - Every thing was good but the room was a little cold.
- Lee (10/5): Perfect location to stay - 1) Perfect Location - Just next to Museum
2) Mom prepared well, also U can cook The rate that I booked via booking.com and the Rate that they charged me was different, though I have accepted.
- Matyila (9/5): I assumed it was a hostel, but it wasn’t. Not a problem for me, the owner didn’t speak great English but I realised that - Easy to find and central. Not much, it was difficult to find. Eventually I realise that it’s a room in someone’s house, which is fine but that is not what the advertisement says.
- Mohsen (1/5): Please read this comment if you are planning to travel to Yerevan. I booked there for three nights c - There was nothing to like. They are very liars and frauds.
- Clareth (10/5): At home - The hospitality of the place is incredible. I would return a thousand times. I felt at home. The breakfast was delicious. I liked everything
- Jamsheer (4/5): Disappointing -
- Bagherirekhne (10/5): Exceptional - they are so kind and Friendly.
location is great. nothing
- Abbas (7/5): Good -
- Nat (10/5): A hostel where you feel like in a local family - The hostel is managed by a local couple who live there and and every morning they make local breakfast with very typical, good and tasty product like cheese, apricot jam, lavash, local ham, eggs and very good tea!
- Jowena (8/5): Very good - The owners are nice and hospitable. Feels like you have another parents in that place. 😊
- Artin (8/5): Very good -
- Maniyarayil (10/5): Exceptional -
- Juan (8/5): Good location in Yerevan! - The very kind lady that runs it, does an amazing job, she is very nice and hospitable.
The accommodations are very basic, yet they do the trick. I also like that they have several signs posted in the surrounding blocks that guide you to the property. It’s a good thing I’m not allergic to cats, otherwise I couldn’t have stayed there. Yes, the kitties are cute and all, but they roam around freely, mostly in the kitchen area. I know that some folks like their pets more than they like people, myself included, but when you’re hosting perfect strangers into your home for profit, you have to be more considerate and businesslike.
Also, on one of the nights the guy of the house carried on a pretty loud conversation with (a neighbor?) well past midnight.
There’s also very little if any enforcing of not smoking indoors, especially on the basement level.
- Rebecca (3/5): Poor - I'm astonished a place like this can have such a high rating. I can only assume people are willing to overlook a lot because the owner is very hospitable. This place was cheap and in a great, central location (although one that taxi drivers struggled to find) But it was incredibly dingy, the room felt dark, old carpets, the bedding was like what you would find at your grandma's. The walls are incredibly thin, and you could smell people smoking outside/in other rooms. The whole place could use a revamp.
The bathroom was interesting, two showers in open cubicles and a toilet in a lockable room, which sometimes had a very questionable smell when you walked past. It was really difficult to get hot water, I had several cold showers.
The breakfast was nice but sometimes it seemed like just what the host found in her fridge that morning. I don't know what I expected for this price, next time in Yerevan I would go somewhere else and pay more.
- Saeed (1/5): Never try this! - The location! Very noisy, musty, stench of smoke, stench of cat feces.
- Wojciech (6/5): Pleasant -
- Hans-peter (10/5): A quiet oasis with the most friendly hosts. - The owners of the hostel are true jewels. They are friendly and helpful in every way possible. The home made breakfast is purely Armenian delicious. And the location is central but quiet.
- Viking (9/5): It’s was amazing and felt so much love from the lovely couples kindkess and generosity . They will treat you as a member - I love the owner on how they manage our stay . Also the good location which was very accessible to your travel needs . Nothing
- Sheryl (5/5): Passable -
- Joana (9/5): I will definitely recommend the place.. - Easy access to the city.. N/a
- Ainslie (10/5): Cozy, convenient and with a delicious breakfast - Absolutely loved my stay at hostel Salharov ( I originally booked 3 nights and ended up staying 2 weeks!). The breakfast in the morning is a delicious array of lavash bread with Armenian cheese, apricot jam as well as eggs, porridge or other Armenian dishes depending on the day. Not only this but the owners are some of the kindest people you will meet and are always offering and giving great food, sometimes tiring your breakfast included into a breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
The location is close to perfect, being just a 5 minute walk to republic square and lots of nice restaurants. The beds are comfy and the hostel warm and cozy. And of course don’t forget to say hello to the lovely cats who like me, got their fair share of free food from the lovely owners. Overall, can’t recommend staying here enough if you are in Yerevan. Nothing.
- Elham (1/5): Bad - Nothing 1.We had reserved breakfast for 3 days, but they only brought us 2 repeated breakfasts and the rest of the previous breakfasts and did not give us a breakfast on the last day.
2.Without our permission, when we were outside the hostel, they had moved personal belongings and bags to the front of the courtyard door and brought another guest even though there were still 2 hours left to check out.and threw us out
3.The lady and the man who owned the hostel disrespectfully complained about the use of the gas stove, kettle and bathroom, even though we only showered once during our 3-night stay and only cooked 2 omelette meals.
4.Passengers should not be expected to wake up at 11 o'clock, and we used to wake up at 7:30 a.m. for city tours or nature tours, and they disrespected and forced us to wake up.
- Irakli (8/5): Very good -
- Mozes (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nitesh (7/5): Good -
- Loffler (10/5): Exceptional - The hostel is ran by this very old and cute couple so it's has a homelike vibe. In the morning the granma makes you breakfast which is so convenient and nice. There are no lockers. And sometimes their cats run into the room which is not a big issue but still for some could be annoying
- Mary (6/5): The location is really good, but the room is hot and humid at night during the summer - The landlady is very hospitable. Although she said that she cannot accommodate me eventhough i had a reservation, she gave her personal room to me to use. When I reached the hostel, they said that they can't accommodate me because it is full and asked me to look for another hostel. I paid exactly the price I booked for 15,000 Armenian Dram, but the lady said that i should pay extra for the 4th day as the amount is good for 3 days only. I was forced to leave early on the 4th day (6am) coz the room that they gave me is the personal room of the landlady and otherwise I will be charged another 5,000 Dram extra.
There should be a clear communication regarding booking and reservation
- Daniel (8/5): Very good -
- Mariam (1/5): BED BUGS . PUNAISES DE LIT - I woke up in the middle of the night, scratching my entire body, checked the bed and found bedbugs in it.
I went to the lady, showed her the bedbug (see pic) and told her I couldn't stay there. She showed no surprise at all, threw money on the table and said "Ok, you can go". I asked if she could help me finding another room (it was 2am), she went back to bed and left me alone.
I checked booking and realized that bedbugs had already been mentioned in May...
Waited on the balcony for sunrise to get out of the place, the owners (both) didn't seem to care.
In the morning, her husband told I was the one who brought the bedbugs and when I mentioned seeing it in a booking comment, he said "Oh yes a Russian guy brought them a few days ago".
After that, the lady came to me, told me that it was a traveler who came the night before who had brought them. I told her that they kept changing their stories and I didn't care or want to hear them. She said "For me no problem, I give you money back so no problem".
As for the less dramatic inconvenients : very strong smell of cat pee on the stairs carpet and in the bathroom.
Place is not very clean.
Dorm is a weird space opening on two bedrooms and the kitchen so doors keep on being opened and closed.
- Radhakrishnan (7/5): Value for money - Good place for stay, breakfast included and the property owner lady is kind and helpful. Near to city centre.
- Jelle (8/5): Cosy hostel in very good location - Good location. Central in Yerevan, close to Republic Square, but still in a quiet neighborhood. Hostel owners were kind with freshly made breakfast every morning. There was not always hot water in the showers.
- Aigerim (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elyse (9/5): Superb - The kindest hosts I’ve ever met. Breakfast was great and we loved the location!
- Marie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mahshid (7/5): Good -
- Raed (9/5): Superb -
- Sharmaine (9/5): Home away from home - The hospitality of the hosts made my stay feel like I’m at my grandparents house.
- Mohammad (9/5): Superb -
- Ruben (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anna (9/5): Great!! - the location is in central city and nearby to visiting places , the owner is hospitable , homey breakfast🥞 nothing - overall is great and recommendable 👍👍
- Rick (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kghp (4/5): Disappointing - locations I sent an email to change the date, but they didn't answer
- Zina (7/5): Good -
- Jakub (10/5): Exceptional - Family who owns this place is very kind and helpful. Kitchen and rooms are clean and cozy. Breakfast was good (omelette, sausages and bread with jam). Amazing place.
- Mariam (8/5): I enjoyed it - I stayed for 2 nights at Carina’s place, it was very good, they’re sweet, caring and kind. it was like staying with my grandparents; they offered me dinner and always checked if I’m hungry. they have tea and coffee available all day. it is there house and they live there so it is more of a guesthouse than a hostel but I loved it.
i was also there alone with no other guests, which was nice. the toilets weren’t the best, but overall okay
- Dionysios (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vincent (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dexter (10/5): LOCATION. FRIENDLY HOSTS. BUDGET-FRIENDLY. - Hostel Sakharov is located near the tourist spots, money exchange, markets and many more in the city. It has the best location you could ever found in Yerevan! Plus, a very friendly hosts Miss Maria, Mr. Vacho and Mrs. Carla they really make sure that my stay will be worth it. They always prepare a nice brealfast. Truly, It is like a home away from home. You will experience all of these for very budget-friendly rate. Perfect for solo traveler like me!
- Mo (8/5): Great hosts - The host are really nice and friendly people, you get also breakfast every morning, it's nothing special, eggs and bread but nice to have, tea and coffee all day. Good location too, not a bad stay here at all, recommend it Unfortunately due to the Russian war prices has risen I don't think it's the value for yerevan but it is what it is.
- Mehdi (2/5): Very poor -
- Raul (8/5): Very good -
- Jan (9/5): Superb - The best thing about this accommodation are the owners, very nice people, always helpful and willing to give advice. Great location of the hostel in the city center. Sometimes it took a while for the hot water to start running.
- Mudassir (6/5): It was good I met some good people had some good breakfast which they provide - The staff is friendly and helpful, its a value-for-money place to stay, they can do more better I believe, overall I feel they are good and in a very good location and taxi takes you straight to this place Well I do not know, it's a hostel after all
- Susanne (10/5): Sweet & Simple - The nicest owners, good breakfast, everything I needed to feel comfortable. The hostel is small and simple, but very clean and friendly. Would love to come back!
- Girly (8/5): thenplace is quite, the owner are very nice and clean. - located in the center of the city there’s no AC in the summer time
- Lin (8/5): The boss and his wife are annoying. - Nice location and very good ventilation. The boss and his wife raise too many cats. These cats are not afraid of people. They often slip into the room and one night when I woke up I saw one cat on my bed and later I suddenly found some scratches on my leg. The boss is very rude. He every day quarrels with his wife. He sometimes yelled to me. He does not know what politeness is.
- Dvaid_brasdaco (9/5): Your home at Yerevan - Very central location, less than 5 min walking to the main central square (Republic Square). Very value for money, you get breakfast prepared by the owner with all her heart everyday and comfortable beds to sleep very well. The shared bathrooms are clean. And the owners treat you and make you feel like your their family. Totally recommended! The only downside or but would the lack of A/C, at least in the room I stayed. Sometimes it can be kinda hot inside the room (even though at night the temperatures are low enough so you can sleep well anyway).
- Verified traveler (8/5): - 共有スペースが狭く、常にスタッフや長期滞在であろう人がいてゆっくりできない。キッチンあるがなんとなく使いづらい雰囲気。
