We got to the Plaza Mayor and were greeted by a very friendly receptionist. Our rooms were immaculate and very comfortable. The breakfast was very good and made us ready for a great day! I fell ill the night I was there and the next morning the hostess offered to bring me tea, reminded me I could stay for several more hours if needed, offered to get me to a hospital if I desired, and contacted a taxi for me. She was even texting with a friend describing my condition and asking that person for advice. She went above and beyond.

The rooms are far enough back that noise is no issue. You just get a great overview of activity. An immaculate laundromat is nearby. We purchased (cash only) the complete full morning breakfast buffet. What a treat! Highly recommend. Staff so joyful and helful. Nothing to dislike.

Es war jedoch für mich ein schönes Zimmer in einem nur 40 Meter entfernten Hotel gebucht und mein Gastgeber hat mich dort hin begleitet. Die Gastgeber waren sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit und ich habe mich sehr über die Einladung zum Frühstück für den nächsten Morgen gefreut.
• glen (9/5): Another great stay on the plaza in at Villafranca del Bierzo - The hosts were fabulous. Perfect location in the heart of the town on the central plaza with restaurants and shops, and right on the Camino. Good breakfast to start the day. Even better than when we stayed here eight years ago when we were walking the Camino, and it was such a nice place to stay that we returned this year while driving to some of our favourite places. Some street noise late at night, but we had a front room and enjoyed the view. There are also rooms off the street, if preferred.
