- elvin (9/5): Nice localise experience - Hosts were very hospitable Alittle old but it’s cheap so it’s acceptable
- Herminjard (10/5): -
- Silas (6/5): -
- Lea (1/5): Passez votre chemin !
- julian (8/5): Great location comfy stay - Walking distance to the town centre. Good sized room with hot shower, good Wi-Fi and fridge Bedroom had very thin curtains . One days breakfast was good (Thai porridge with eggs) and one was poor.(one egg and some toast)
- vero et laurent (8/5): - Accueil sympa. Petite maison avec qques chambres simples mais suffisantes. Petit jardin agréable. Petit déjeuner ok.
- Finn (10/5): -
- Roy (10/5): -
- Franciscus (7/5): - Friendly welcome. No certain, so you have to sleep like daylight.
- Silberbauer (9/5): - Nice outside place to eat and chill. Also good breakfast. Not the most quiet because of thin walls.

- Benjamin (9/5): Enjoyable and peaceful. - I mainly liked the owners chatting to them and asking for recommendations was so appreciated their hospitality was great. Aswell as the location to doi inthanon.
I also really liked the nature of the property having a communal outdoor space space for exercise (not that I did) and facilities to cook a pot noodle or microwave meal if necessary aswell as fridges to store cold stuff.
Bear in mind you get what you see, bathroom is a wet room in the room we were in.
breakfast was delicious and different both days one day egg and salad with a sweet bao bun type thing with coffee the second day was a cold noodle stir fry with a fresh brewed tea from home grown flowers. Not much of an issue as they ask for silence after 10 but the walls are very thin so if your a light sleeper bear in mind you can hear nature through the night and in the morning.
- Jahnke (7/5): - Die Chefin war okay und beim Frühstück sehr bemüht. Insgesamt sehr thailändischer Ablauf. Frage nach Passport und Visum trotz thailändischer ID Card.
- Ntai (7/5): - General atmosphere both in the Homestay and village around. The wadrobe or place to put our clothing was not available until we asked for something to help us.
- Blia (9/5): Superb - Very small town. One night stay. Had great time playing ball with the local
- Hannah (10/5): A true home away from home. - I have stayed here several times over the last year. The owners and their son, Nay, are so incredibly kind. We have gotten to know them well and feel as though we are at a home away from home at Kwanlah homestay. The food is always amazing and satisfying with fresh seasonal fruit and butterfly pea tea with honey and lime always ready. The rooms are clean and comfortable and Nay makes delicious coffees in the mornings. The grounds and shared spaces are beautifully curated and welcome good conversations with others who stay. It is in a quiet area near the river but just a few minute walk from the market and main roads of Mae Chaem. As an added bonus the two small dogs are a joy to hang out with and will make you smile! That I couldn't stay for longer!
- Roland (5/5): Passable -
- Jess (7/5): Good - Great little home stay for one night if you're doing the Mae Hong Son loop! Lovely family who were super chatty and friendly. Lovely house and outside areas to sit. Free tea, bread and fruit in the morning. Nice big rooms. The bathroom is outside and wasn't the cleanest or best shower but does the job for one night!
- Gillian (10/5): Lovely authentic Thai homestay - Great family run homestay, owners really friendly and accommodating. We stayed 2 nights to explore Doi Inthanon while on the Mae Hong Son loop.
- Leonardo (5/5): Too dirty - Breakfast The dirtiest room of my trip. The filth is real, there are cm of dust in the room
- Valerie (9/5): Worth the money for a traditional Thai accommodation - Owners are lovely people, very kind and helpful. Traditional Thai breakfast was delicious. The bathrooms are very traditional as well. But ours was functional with hot water.
- Eva (7/5): Good - There is a nice garden and seating area. There is a fridge, kettle and drinking water to use at any time. Breakfast was ok. Thin walls and windows towards the seating area outside, lots of noise to hear inside the room. The room itself was a bit soulless.
- Atidtaya (7/5): Good -
- P (10/5): Charming in Chaem - Visited for one night with my teenaged daughter.
Beautiful property with wonderful warm owners.
Room is traditionl wooden thai built and amazing. Beds great, hot water shower, super super chilled environment.
Perfect after a long drive from mae hong song.
I really enjoyed speaking my poor thai with the owners, who were patient and helpful.
Breakfast was superb and very communal with the other guests. Highly recommended. Nothing
- Miriam (9/5): Simple, quiet place to stay when on the Mae Hong Son Loop - We spent one night here when we drove on the Mae Hong Son Loop. The room was basic but we had a bathroom with hot shower. Breakfast is also included and the owners are very nice people who will give you good advice where to eat and what to see in the area. The bathroom was not super clean, but it was okay for a quick shower.
- Reinhard (10/5): Staying in a traditional atmosphere - Charming traditional house, very nice owners. The whole family! The son has many tips for things to do and see. Breakfast with Thai food and toast with jam and honey. No problems, everything was OK.
- Ewelina (6/5): Not sure if you can get here a decent rest - Very close to the shops and local restaurants
Cute dogs
Clean room/clean bedsheets It was noisy at night - around 1.30am few guests were checking in or out (I’m not sure)… they were laughing and basically were very disrespectful for other guests…
There is no soundproof and you feel like in the room without the walls…
We book the room with shared bathroom - keep in mind that the shared bathroom is located outside the guesthouse so it’s very inconvenient at night that you have to go out…
- Leonardo (10/5): Awesome homestay - The staff was very kind to us. The house is super nice with a fantastic garden and a shared space with lot of facilities. The breakfast was very good.
- Lim (10/5): Perfect, comfortable, cozy, clean, great owners - Kwanlah Homestay Review
Kwanlah Homestay truly sets the bar high for a cozy and welcoming getaway! From the moment we arrived, we were struck by how clean, spacious, and delightfully homey the rooms were. It felt less like a temporary stay and more like a home away from home.
The amenities are thoughtfully provided—reliable WiFi, a powerful air conditioning system (a lifesaver in hot weather!), and ample parking space to accommodate guests with vehicles. The shared dining area is a thoughtful touch, complete with a microwave, kettle, plates, and cutlery—everything you need to prepare a quick snack or enjoy a meal at your convenience.
The owners are the heart of this homestay, exuding warmth and hospitality that make you feel immediately at ease. Their friendliness extends to the adorable resident pets—a few charming cats and a dog that are sure to win your heart.
While the location is great, one minor note: arriving at night might be a bit tricky as the signage isn’t the easiest to spot. But honestly, that’s a small trade-off for the wonderful experience that awaits you here.
Adding to the charm is the included breakfast, which was a delightful bonus. The other guests were just as lovely, creating a communal and friendly vibe that’s rare to find. For a first-timer at a homestay, Kwanlah has set the gold standard—it’s a place I’d gladly return to and recommend wholeheartedly!
- Del (6/5): 1 night was plenty - Nice friendly owner. Quiet location. 2 rooms booked. Tatty and grubby is the best description of both rooms, second room has a strong smell of cat wee which wasn't great.
- Lorenzo (8/5): Very good -
- Rossella (10/5): Exceptional - The room was spacious and clean, we loved the family environment around the whole place.
Also, the owner Nai has been super friendly with us, he suggested thousands of places for food and spot to visit around the area. Definitely recommended! Nothing
- Taylor (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alexandra (7/5): Good - The owners were very nice, and overall you get value for money. The room is big and has everything you need. The place is just old, the room is a bit smelly, a lot of ants, slight electricity problems and don't expect more than noodles for breakfast.
- Mam_0909 (8/5): Very good - Very kind host. Few places available for car park.
- Robert (8/5): Would return - Hospitable , comfortable and clean.
For the family hosts ,nothing was difficult
Great advertisement for the " Land of Smile " The mosquitos , but it is the wet season
- Mimi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sam (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful nature place.
- Luke (8/5): Very good - Friendly staff, quiet location Bed was quite firm, blanket not large enough for the bed/two people
- Bert (8/5): Very good -
- Franziska (8/5): Very good -
- Giacomo (3/5): Poor - Location is convenient Property owner a bit rude
Basically inexistent walls, we could not sleep as we could hear other people snoring, dogs barking
- James (9/5): Superb -
- Kerstin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Thomas (10/5): Exceptional - The hospitality from the owners and their son was exceptional. I asked for some extra pillows and had them almost immediately. A local breakfast and dinner was provided and the son brewed some very tasty local coffee. They have some pet dogs who provided much entertainment.
On departure after a 2 day stay I was given directions to drive back to Chiang Mai that were off the beaten track and it was a great recommendation.
- Daniel (9/5): Enjoyable stay - Lovely hosts Only that breakfast was pretty much one choice but very nice!! :)
- Andrew (9/5): Superb -
- Kathryn (8/5): Great stop on the Mae Hong Son loop - Beautiful location nestled in the mountains. Host made noodles for breakfast and also free tea and coffee. Lots of friendly cats and dogs
- Riri109 (10/5): Great stay - Hosts were really nice. Sadly only stayed 1 night.
- Ali (9/5): Superb -

- Emily (9/5): We stayed one night and it was very nice. The room was nice and clean and the owners were very kind. - It was a very nice and relaxing property.
- Sophie (10/5): Exceptional - The owner were very kind and friendly. They prepared fresh and very tasty food for us in the morning / evening.
The place was really nice.
- Bradley (9/5): Superb -
- Georgina (9/5): Felt like home, I loved my time here 😊 - The hosts are such a lovely couple and treated me like their daughter when my bike broke down and they gave me hugs and lifts to the mechanic!
I stayed an extra night, such a lovely place ❤️
The breakfast table setup means it’s easy to meet other travellors and the hosts joined each morning to say hello and check in how everyone is going 😌
- Petra (4/5): Very dissapointed. - The location was in a good spot. The room was very dirty, it was just a shed but apart from this there were cobwebs everywhere. One of the beds had stains and another was full of leaves, the mosiquito nets were very dirty and even had holes in them. Furthermore there were open windows that could not be shut at night. The owners also played very loud music at 7am which resulted in the dogs barking.
I think for the price paid, we were really dissapointed with what we received.
- Christel (8/5): Very good - Thanks for recommending places to see. And route to take in the mae hong son loop
- Ignacio (10/5): Exceptional - Bestiful and quite place. Nice room with comfortable bed.
Delicious breakfast with, bread, jam, fruits, coffee and tea.
The owner took me to see amazing places. I felt part of the family and lived the experience like a local.
Highly recommended!
- Penelope (10/5): Welcoming hosts in a beautiful building. - Really friendly hosts. Peaceful location, a short walk from the centre. Comfy beds. Warms showers.
- Niall (10/5): A Great Pit Stop Point for Doi Inthanon National Park - Stayed for 1 night during the Mae Hong Son Loop.
Really home like feel, our hosts were lovely and had a great chat with one of the hosts the next morning after a long day on the bike the day before. NA
- Louise (7/5): Good -
- Ryanmooney0894 (10/5): Exceptional - The family are really helpful, and great to chat to. The place has a nice chill vibe.
- Oihana (9/5): Superb - The nature around! And all the staff! Are lovely!
- Danai (7/5): Good - Basic accommodation, ok for a night when traveling the Mae Hong Son loop. Easy to find & check in, friendly hosts. Decent garden/ outdoor space. Spacey rooms, good wifi & A/C. Guesthouse is somewhat old & rundown. For the price, we expected better. Cleanliness was an issue. Bathroom clearly needed a proper scrub. Poor bedlinen (duvet with no cover). Bed is super hard, but we actually like it like that.
- Lars (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely homestay!
- Thi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bijan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Zoe (8/5): Very good - nice room and sitting area with games etc
- Ngọc (10/5): Cozy homestay, nice garden - Inside in Mae Hong Son loop, it’s good homestay to stay in Mae Chaem. Kwanlah homestay near a river, so I was feeling cool in the night even very hot in the day. The staffs, owner very friendly. Small garden inside, we can see the garden from windows. Breakfast included the price. I will come back when I do Mae Hong Son loop again. absolutely nothing
- Frazer (9/5): Superb -
- Kate (9/5): Very welcoming, charming staff staff who spoke great English. A good place to stay. - lovely gardens and attractive house
- Christi (8/5): Nice owners nice place - The owners were so sweet. They served a breakfast and made me tea. So nice!! The Son was unfriendly and unhelpful at check in. He was almost rude.

- Patrick (10/5): Exceptional - Really nice hostel with nice garden, bed was comfy with mosquito net. Free tea/coffee fruit and top up your water at the water fountain. Right around the corner from the town center. The staff here go about and beyond to make your stay a good one. I was doing the mae hong son loop and I never got his name but he helped me everyway possible to make my trip more memorable, using Google maps he pinned out the not to miss sights and everyone of his suggestions were on point. Check out the showers never seen a shower work like that before. Nothing
- Louis (8/5): Very good - Good location and really lovely hosts. Big, clean room and good stop on the Mae Hong Son loop. Great breakfast too! Nothing
- Tan (8/5): Very good -
- Michael (3/5): Poor - Friendly owner. Cool dogs. Quick check in. Available car park space. Very thin walls, can hear everything in the neighboring rooms. Woken up early from hearing even their suitcase zippers.
A lot of sounds from dogs and birds as well.
Overall a bad nights sleep.
Bathroom was quite old fashioned. Shower temp was between luke warm and cold....
- Aušrinė (9/5): Superb - very nice owner, good room, good AC, clean, nice premises, even some tasty breakfast! :) super hard bed.. we slept in a tent a night before and sleeping on the ground felt softer than the bed in this hotel. the hotel should definitely take care of some softer top matress
- Charles (9/5): Good Value for a Lovely Spot. - Lovely host, full mattress each, beautiful grounds and location, close to a local market, and to a convenience store when that's closed.
- James (9/5): Superb -
- Shlomi (2/5): Very poor - nothing
we didnt sleep there.
