• Bliss (3/5): Stay Somewhere Else - This hotel is in terrible need of updating and repair. The furniture (couch, chair) in our room were dirty, cracked and peeling. Everything needed baseboards and trim , especially in the kitchen and bathroom to be replaced, recalled and painted. The info online says breakfast is included and all it was nothing but low quality plastic wrapped muffins and terrible coffee. We didn't feel very safe, even though it wad located in a good area of town. Most everything.

I still tipped because I know how hard it is to clean rooms. Cleaning in general is hard work but i stayed because of the location. I’m not the type to complain but that’s what I’ve experienced

• Elaine Ward (2/5): Shoddy facility . We did not stay. - Front desk clerk was helpful, efficient, friendly and the only thing we liked. Location was close to highway . Clerk should get an award for working there. Room was shabby. Very dirty windows, One Vinyl chair that was completely ripped up. The sheets and towels looked clean but I was not about to touch them as it all was run down. Vagrant looking people in elevators , though they were polite. Did not realize people lived there. No breakfast. No acceptable restaurant for breakfast etc. in area. We left for dinner with friends then left key on front desk as there was no staff around at 10 PM Had to move to a different hotel. Properpty was entirely misrepresented on web site.

• Markeith (1/5): Highly Questionable business tactics or lack of training - Location was great for the event that I was attending. Cleanliness and attempts to over charge an electronic card for a room that had already been paid for. Long story short. My room was paid for through booking at 274.00 but the hotel attempted to charge the electronic card from booking.com multiple times with an amount exceeding 325 (according to booking.com). With this we had to pay out of pocket for the room because staff claimed the card received from booking.com didn’t work. And at the moment, I’m still trying to get a refund for the first amount.

This was the worst room I’ve ever seen. Not to mention the noxious odor of cigarettes that had engulfed the entire 3rd floor. We stayed for about 5 minutes before we left. Bookings.com would not refund our money. I will not use bookings again.

• Lakethia (1/5): SEXUAL HARASSMENT AND ANTS‼️ - I thought this was a trusted brand but I don’t like anything about the property. The property seems to be a hut for sex trafficking or something. Definitely NOT a safe place for solo women travelers. I felt like I was being followed by 2 men my first night but thought to myself I was overreacting. It wasn’t until the second night that I was straight up followed to my room and sexually harassed. I’ve NEVER in my 32 years of living ever been sexually harassed. I went to go report the incident to the front desk. The lady working at the desk act as though she couldn’t care less. I just ran to my room, packed my bags, ended my stay early and booked another hotel. Also, as I was packing I noticed that ants were crawling from the AC and up the blinds. I will be fighting for a refund.

• Andrew (7/5): Southern Smile and housekeeping shame! - The night clerk at the front desk was a remarkable young woman. While she may not have presented the typical polished appearance I've come to expect from Hilton employees, she was exceptionally polite, accommodating, and well-informed about the local area. Her attentiveness to my senior dog, who had special needs and sadly passed away four weeks later, made our emergency stay in Matthews considerably more pleasant and allowed me to feel at ease. I extend my gratitude to this hotel's General Manager for empowering this young woman to express her individuality, and I sincerely hope your company continues to employ more unique and intelligent individuals who consistently exceed guest expectations. The cleanliness of the rooms was not up to standard, and it appeared that attention to detail was unfortunately overlooked. I understand that rooms are currently cleaned only once a week due to staffing limitations and the trend of hotels reducing full services to manage costs. Given that most guests do not check out during the typical 11 AM rush, it seems the housekeeping staff should have ample time to ensure linens are clean, stain-free, and free of hair. The bathroom, in particular, seemed to have been minimally attended to, beyond replacing toiletries and providing more soiled and stained linens, specifically bath towels and washcloths. There was noticeable grime on the walls and hair within the shower pan. Regarding the toilet, I will spare further details. Additionally, the room was quite dim, and the kitchen's overhead lights being connected to the wall sconce at the desk was inconvenient when attempting to use one independently of the other. Overall, the hotel over all was good until you start looking at the accumulated thing missed during cleaning 😒 truly disgusting!

• Tim (1/5): Absolutely horrific!! - I did not like anything about this property. The whole place smelled horrible, every rom is pet friendly to include cats from what they told me after I got there. I was given a room and then requested another room because the floor and furniture was chewed up from a dog. They gave me a different room but it was just the same and they explained to me that every room and every floor was like that . I told them I could not stay there due to allergies and they would not give me my money back. I left there without a refund and went to another hotel even after arriving there around midnight. That is how bad it was. The absolute worse place I have ever seen. Also, there was people roaming the halls that were drunk and smelled terrible. I would not recommend this place to anyone ever!! I didn’t like anything about this property. The whole hotel smelled terrible!!!

The location of the hotel is great! It's in a good part of town. Parking is convenient with no worries. Everything was fine.

• Ken (6/5): Okay but some guests gave me the chills - When I arrived, I saw some lowly looking people smoking in the parking lot and looked like the couple across the way were living there because these rooms all have full kitchens So, my guess is a number of people live there with some kind of government assistance. Breakfast was meager and coffee ran out. Area was safe, but I just got bad vibes from some of the people at the hotel. At least they didn't ask questions about me having a dog.
