Guest Reviews
- Angela (10/5): Highly Recommend - Really nice room on the ground floor, easily accessible for disabled. Lovely people running it, staff very good, highly recommend. Food was delicious and beautifully presented.
- Kiane (10/5): - We stayed for two nights in one of the rooms with a hot tub, luckily we decided to go for the hot tub as my wife had an accident just before our trip & was using crutches & these rooms are easily accessible, sadly she couldnt use the hot tub but i could 😅
The Three Lions is a lovely venue, plenty of parking, lovely grounds around the buildings with plenty of outside seating, our room was nice, clean & tidy & the small private decking area with seating & a hot tub was lovely to be out in & listen to the birds. We had breakfast & dinner both days at The Three Lions & the food was amazing, i couldnt fault any of it, well presented & just cooked perfectly, the staff were all professional, friendly & helpful, always welcoming & making sure we had everything we needed & that we were happy with the food.
We were very happy with our stay at The Three Lions & we are already planning another visit to The New Forest next year & we will definitely be considering staying at The Three Lions again, thank you to all the staff for making our stay absolutely faultless.
- Martin (10/5): Great Accommodation and Pub - The room staying in and the associated pub/restaurant were all very good. Clean, well presented room with all the things you would expect, including an electric fan to use when the nights were hot!
The pub had a great selection of drinks, including two real ales on draft. Due to other plans we did not eat an evening meal but were delighted with the quality and selection of the breakfasts.
The staff were very attentive and did all they could to make sure our stay was great.
Would highly recommend and would have no hesitation in booking again when i'm next in the area.
- Patrick (6/5): - Excellent food
- Verified traveler (6/5): Hot tub was nice bonus - The outside area was great for the dog and the hot tub was a good addition.
- Alex (10/5): - We stay here every year as a stop over on our way from London to Cornwall.
Lovely pub and the rooms are clean and comfortable. Staff are very helpful
- Clara (8/5): - Lovely rooms, and little terrace with jacuzzi. Staff are exceptional. Very warm, friendly and helpful. The staff really make this place a great stay. Breakfast was good too.
- IAN (8/5): - Very informative staff and enjoyable breakfast.
Property has large car park and benefits from petrol station close by. Room we stayed in (Oak) was subject to irregular heating system noises which disturbed sleep.
- matteo (8/5): - Nice stay. We will be back.
- Steven (8/5): - Weekend away in the New Forest. Perfect base, close to the forest and the beaches of the south coast. Comfortable hotel with great staff.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Disgruntled - The hotel is very expensive for one night granted it has a hot tub but the cleanliness is not the best in the hot tub or in the room itself. I arrived late and left early and should have said something then. Cobwebs everywhere in the room and a dirty carpet and towels. No sugar or sweeteners provided either.
- Steve (10/5): Great stay at The Three lions - Great stay as on previous visits. Will absolutely using again
- Sam (10/5): - Some of the best food we have had eating out for a long time.
Lovely private space with hot tub. Quiet and peaceful. Helpful and friendly staff. World definitely revisit
- John (10/5): Relaxed atmosphere, awesome food. - A lovely stay at The Three Lions, staff were friendly and helpful, food was amazing and the hot tub was so relaxing and private. We will be returning to The Three Lions again for sure, but next time for longer than just a night.
- BA (10/5): - Lovely Hotel, great staff. Clean rooms and comfy bed
- Ryan (10/5): A lovely weekend away - This was an amazing, beauitful stay we will be returning.
Upon arrival we were kindly greeted and shown to our room. Very spacious, clean and private.
The hot tub was so relaxing and easy to use, we were in there for hours.
Breakfast very delicious with unlimited tea and coffee and worth the money.
The singing chef kept us entertained.
Also the food in the restaurant is top quality and worth the price.
The pub is out the way of the hustle and bustle but only a 20 min walk from the town fordingbridge.
- Joseph (10/5): - Very friendly staff. Lovely area. Rooms were separate from the main inn and so wonderful quiet. Highly recommend for a couple's retreat.
- Tania (10/5): Loved our stay - Amazing room, very spacious with huge jacuzzi in the garden. Very private. Our 2nd visit
- C (8/5): Lovely stay with a hot tub - We had a lovely stay at the three lions. The staff were all amazing and left us a card and some chocolates for our anniversary, which was really sweet.
The hot tub was warm and ready for us when we arrived. The only downside to this was there was no cover or canopy, and it was raining all evening so we didn’t get to enjoy this as much as possible.
The food was amazing, and they have a few games at the pub which made for a fun evening.
Unfortunately there is a light right outside the room that came on at some point during the night and woke me up around 2.30am, and made it very difficult to get back to sleep without a sleep mask.
However, overall it was a very nice night away.
- Ross (10/5): - Staff was really friendly and helpful
- hayley (10/5): Rest and relaxation - Roast was beautiful. Breakfast was great. Stayed for my partners birthday in a hot tub room and it was absolutely gorgeous. Natalie greeted us and was efficient and happy. She’s a great first impression. All the staff were amazing. We will definitely be back again. R and r was just what we needed from two people who work 50+ hrs a week. It was an escape for a night that was well needed and well overdue. It didn’t disappoint. Thank you 😊

- Stephen (10/5): Great base for exploring the New Forest. - A lovely place to have a short break. Perfect location and ideal accommodation.
- Sheila (10/5): - I booked the room with the hot tub and my partner and me really enjoyed the experience. The hotel is well looked after, very pretty an cosy, the room was impeccable and the staff friendly and they take care of the customers.
We also had dinner and breakfast, the only possible bad thing I could say, and not really a bad thing is, that I didn't like the battered on the squids I ordered, but only being picky because the food was also very good.
I was never before in this hotel but definitely will think about coming back because we had such a great time.
- Caroline (10/5): Fantastic - Fantastic stay. A little gem of a pub/hotel
- Amy (10/5): - A lovely stay at The Three Lions. Peaceful and a warm welcome on a chilly evening. The room was very comfortable and clean. Nice and plentiful options for hot drinks in room. Room had small balcony looking into court yard.
- Shirley (10/5): A very pleasant stay. - A very pleasant stay in a chalet type room which was comfortable and had everything we needed.
The food was good although we weren’t offered any daily specials. The menu was big enough as we only stayed 2 nights.
- Sarah (10/5): - We booked a room with private terrace and hot tub which were both amazing. Rooms were clean, the hot tub was great, we had our privacy and it was very quiet. Enjoyed our stay there and would highly recommend!
- Dennise (10/5): Wonderful - Perfect. A hidden gem in the New Forest - peaceful & Serene. Room was plenty big enough for us & the private patio with hot tub was amazing !!! Have already booked to go again !!
- Brian (10/5): Hot tub heaven - We loved it. And the hot tub staff was lovely and friendly.
We are very happy to return thankyou.
- Kerry (8/5): - The room was lovely and the hot tub was great. The restaurant and food were great. Only downside was the wait on food but we were told that the kitchen were understaffed which was understandable.
- Peter (2/5): - The Three Crowns is tired. Our bathroom was dirty and the bedroom not properly serviced. Neither were the bedrooms of friends. There was noise from air conditioning or heating which disturbed. There was no proper evening meal service. There were wedding preparations going on during our stay which were noisy and intrusive. The only redeeming element was that the staff, especially at breakfast, were pleasant. Not recommended in its current state
- Janet (10/5): Lovely place. Highly recommend - Loved our stay at The Three Lions. Although the room was absolutely lovely we did feel the actual cleanliness let it down a little. It really could have done with a deeper clean. There was an awful lot of dust everywhere. That would be our only complaint but thoroughly enjoyed the whole place. Food and staff were excellent, couldn’t do enough for you.
- David (10/5): - A very enjoyable stay. Recommended.
- Joe (10/5): Perfect couples retreat - From the room with a hot tub, the food, location and the service, this place is brilliant and the staff are a credit to this place
- Tracey (8/5): 2 nights as part of UK road trip - Booked a room with outdoor hot tub.
Good things.
Room was spacious and had everything we needed.
Portable air conditioning unit was handy. Bed comfy.
Hot tub on the private terrace was so great after a days exploring.
Fluffy towels and robes.
Terrace had good seating to relax.
Bad things
Plants were either dead or planters empty and tab ends around.
The solar lights and lanterns around the terrace didn't work, which was a shame as it would have been romantic and made it special for our anniversary trip.
Bright light outside the front door shining into the room when trying to sleep. A light on a sensor would be better.
All these could be an easy fix.
We ate in the restaurant 1st night but it was a limited menu and absolutely zero atmosphere. Could've heard a pin drop. I think we were the only customers.
Food was good but we chose to go elsewhere for the second night for our anniversary meal.
Breakfast was cooked to order and was good. But again so quiet - some background music would have been nice.
All in all enjoyed the visit and would recommend if slight issues could be addressed.
- Charles (10/5): Superb - Go for the rooms with private hot tub! - Superb room with the private hot tub, private courtyard and excellent and hospitable service. Clean, well maintained and great spot on the edge of the forest. Would definitely return.
- Elizabeth (8/5): 2nd visit. - This was the 2nd time we have visited The three Lions and it's ideal if you have your dog with you, very comfortable beds and excellent breakfast but lack of a permanent chef meant that there was no food to be had on one of our nights there which was disappointing.
- Andrew (10/5): - Clean comfortable room, pleasant staff, good food.
- Deborah (10/5): - The room was of a very high quality, particularly the bathroom and shower.
Staff were helpful and friendly. The included breakfast was freshly cooked and a good start to the day, with plentiful tea and coffee.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great find - Great time, lovely place to stay, eat and enjoy time with friends.
- Tania (10/5): Best night away EVER!! - From start to finish our stay was amazing. It was everything & more than expected. Lots of little touches which were fab. The grounds are superb & the hot tub was so private & relaxing! The restaurant even on a limited menu didn’t disappoint- we highly recommend whatever you have, to have the onion rings- out of this world! We will 100% come back.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Beautiful room, bed a let down - Spend 2 nights here for a local wedding. The three lions itself is a beautiful location. Room is nicely decorated with lovely bathroom. Unfortunately the bed (2 singles pushed together) was awful, the mattress was so old/bad we had to double up the duvet and spare duvet cover and sleep on top to make it less uncomfortable. The staff were lovely and friendly, service was a little slow but it's a busy place so not the end of the world. Unfortunatelyits hard to enjoy the beautiful location and room when you have had no sleep. As mentioned, the staff were great and room great in every other way, but let down by the bed.
- Thomas (8/5): - The room was nice and comfortable, but I wish they had told me it was on the second floor, as I would have requested a ground floor room. The bath needs to be updated as the sink is a half sink with individual taps. The customer bathrooms downstairs in the pub, however, have mixer taps. The meals here were very good, especially the breakfast. Plenty of parking there. The road to the hotel is very small for about a mile, and care needs to be taken when driving there. Overall, a nice property with friendly and helpful staff.
- John (10/5): - Excellent stay, great location edge of the forest. Could not fault anything, Excellent room, great bed, very comfortable had a good night's sleep. Big shower and ensuite. Very friendly, happy staff. Great food and coffee. No hesitation in saying that this is probably one of the best places we have stayed in and will definitely be staying again
- Stephen (10/5): Saturday night away! - Everything about the stay was great, from the accommodation, to the food, and how friendly and welcoming all of the staff were.
Would highly recommend and will definitely be going back again.
- John (10/5): - Staff great, room good size , fab bathroom, very clean and nice little extras in the room
- peter (8/5): - Very nice rooms. Slow service at dinner and a bit disorganised at breakfast didn’t reflect the high price of the room. Food was very good. Both myself and my guests would very much have liked a real ale as a beer choice.
- Bridie (10/5): The Three Lions Fordingbridge - This little pub tucked away in the countryside near Fordingbridge was an absolute find! Me and my partner stayed here as a birthday treat and we booked the deluxe rooms with its own private hot tub out back. We both agreed there isnt really anything to fault this pub on....... the room was spacious and spotless, the hot tub was incredible, the food was great, amazing walks around the New Forest on its doorstep, you can even bring your dog!
The only thing we wish was different would be checkout time......... 10am is just mean. Nobody wants to leave at 10am haha.
But we would definitely stay again, our night was perfect :-D
- Paula (8/5): Great family stay - Lovely family stay, room was clean and pleasant. Food was really good, best roast dinner in a long time but sadly not serving on a Monday night meaning we had to drive elsewhere.
Lovely quiet room and everything we needed, beds were a little uncomfortable but nothing that would stop us returning and really kid and dog friendly. Would recommend.
- Little (10/5): - Expedia did not inform us the restaurant was not open for the season so that was a bummer.
- Paul (8/5): Would definitely go back - Decent location for exploring the New Forest, nice and quiet, and the hot tub on the private deck definitely increased the enjoyment of the stay. Staff were friendly and helpful - the only downside was that the breakfast service was very slow as one poor girl was doing everything on her own... Would definitely go back though, perfect retreat for couples to enjoy a long weekend
- Craig (10/5): NYE at The Three Lions - Lovely stay at The Three Lions. Comfy bed, large room, good amenities and topped off with private hot tub. Robes and slippers a nice touch. Breakfast on New Years Day was of a good standard. Great stay, perfect end to 2022.
- Stephen (10/5): Great stay - We had a lovely stay here. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Our room was beautifully decorated, scrupulously clean and comfortable.
We had dinner one evening and there was a small issue with the bill, but this was rectified quickly and professionally, by Connor.
Food was delicious, both dinner and breakfasts.
Looking forward to a return visit, where we may try one of the hot tub rooms!
- Rachel (10/5): - Comfortable rooms, lovely view.
- Elizabeth (4/5): - Nice refurbished room with balcony. Needs a blind on the bathroom window and tap in sinks over shoots sink if pulled on too fast. TV was very dusty, cleaners look high! Dressing table mirror a little small for putting on make up.
Disastrous breakfast, no offer of toast, even though it says included in price with hot drink, run out of juice and milk on the DIY table, not replenished. run out of tomatoes and when breakfast arrived after 90 minutes the poached eggs were hard and dried out, i returned mine. the vegetarian breakfast farcical. 1 mushroom, half slice of fried bread and some baked beans. Shameful for £13. It was a busy sitting but dont advertise walk-ins welcome if you cant cope with the residents!! They did give us a £10 discount but not really the point with B&B
- Stephen (10/5): Comfortable and friendly - Arrived late and was met by friendly staff then shown room which had all the comfort and amenities that I required.
The chef was running a Spanish food theme night with quite a few options. Speaking for the meal I had, it looked and tasted authentic. Good stuff! Room was comfortable.
Good choices of cooked breakfast including fruit juices and cereals. My only comment would be that I would have preferred coffee in a cafetiere but that is only a minor comment.
- Noel (10/5): - Fantastic food and room
- Elizabeth (10/5): A lovely stay. - We had a really lovely stay, the room was large and well furnished and the bed was super comfortable. We had the use of a private jacuzzi which was very clean & good fun. All of the staff were very friendly & helpful and the food was excellent would highly recommend.
- C (4/5): Lovely place to stay if you eat somewhere else - The room and service was great but the food was terrible over salted on everything the breakfast was unedible the chef needs to be replaced as a matter of urgency before he does permenant damage
