Guest Reviews
- Vania (7/5): Easy stopover - comfortable and clean. - The hotel is a little bit down at heel but it is clean, comfortable and friendly. It's more like staying in someone's house. There is a little bit of parking at the front, the staff are chilled out and it is in an amazing area. For what it is, I liked all of it.
- Carolyn (5/5): If you are stuck to find a B&B you can get by, but I wouldn’t recommend it as a first choice. - Location was excellent - close to summer town.
Our bed was comfortable. I love older buildings but this was run down and tired. The bathroom sink was small with a small glass shelf directly above so you couldn’t put your head under to wash your face. Shower temperature fluctuated making it uncomfortable. No shelves in bathroom so all toiletries had to go on the floor. Shower fan was full of dust.

- Mary Jane (4/5): Just adequate - Good location - you get what you pay for and for Oxford it is was reasonable and for the night it was just adequate The place needs an uplift
- Sarah (8/5): Excellent value for money. Good self serve breakfast. Friendly & helpful owners. - The owners were very friendly and helpful. They also upgraded my room from a single to a double at no extra charge. Bed was comfy and bedding was spotlessly clean. Check in was available from 11am which was very handy. The decor was tired looking and could do with refreshing. There was a big step up to get into the shower.
- Jamie (8/5): - Excellent location. Friendly staff. Nice breakfast. Shower was a bit temperamental (but ok).
- Jayshree (5/5): -
- Claire (7/5): It was a base to visit Oxford. Staff were friendly and breakfast was basic but filled the tummy. - It was cost effective for a one night stay with 6 of us. It is very basic, extension leads everywhere. Only two parking spaces
Previously smoking was allowed in the B&B
- Neven (9/5): -
- Asif (10/5): -
- Scott (8/5): Would stay again - Nice clean comfy room Could of done with a hot breakfast in the morning
- William (8/5): -
- Ingrid (6/5): - I was happy with most things. Nowhere to hang my coat. No easy chair.
Breakfast a bit basic.
- Anna (10/5): Recommend - Great location, good breakfast. Lovely owner. I like all
- Kyrie (10/5): If I had another chance to spend time in Oxford someday, I would like to stay at this house again. Thanks for the kind h - Very good in a kind of lovely British style. The room is very clean and comfortable. And the breakfast is very delicious and adequate.
- Samuel (6/5): -
- Abdirashid (9/5): - It was cosy nice room and comfortable stay. I, booked for a single bed room but was offered a bigger room with one big and small bed. Got free parking permit during my stay. Hosts were nice and cordial. It was a good value for money, with its reasonable price.
- Laura (2/5): I didn't feel welcomed - The bed was comfortable I am sorry but when you want to "host" people, you need to have a minimum of hospitality behaviour. Be kind, maybe smiling, because the customer is not only an amount of money. So disappointed !
- Alan (8/5): -
- Slammon (8/5): - Handy for job No worries place was clean. And ouiet very nice accommodation
- Russell (7/5): - The room was clean and the bed was comfy. There was a small TV at the foot of the bed. The shower was a good size and the water was hot. but there was an uncomfortable step in and out that could trip some one if they are not agile. The room is not suitable for anyone with mobility issues. As it's up 3 flights of steep stairs. There is also no other exit from the room in the advent of a fire. the location. as not mentioned in the description.as it's in summer town and not never the centre of Oxford.the walk is about 40 minutes.. It would be ok if you are had a car. But the fact that it is situated in Summertown should be mentioned. As it altered my plans for the trip. There is a good bus service during the day but it's not a trip I would want to do at night.

- Anna (8/5): Pleasant stay as advertised and good value for money! - Breakfast was basic but as advertised and well prepared. Comfy room, lovely staff, and flexibility on check in. The staff were very kind to allow me to keep my bags there after check out for a few hours while I explored Oxford. I would have liked breakfast to be a bit earlier so I could get to my sightseeing quicker without coming back to the b&b. There were unfortunately wasps in my ensuite in the morning which made it a bit scary to shower. Staff responded well when I told them about it.
- Monica Melges Pavan (7/5): -
- Michael (7/5): - Das etwas ältere Zimmer mit Bad, hatte alles was ich mir an Ausstattung wünsche. Es gab ein einfaches Frühstück.
- Jo (8/5): - The room was comfortable and well equipped but the whole place was a little dirty around the edges and could use a good cleaning. The breakfast was basic but adequate. Loved the UK-themed salt and pepper shakers on each table!
- marie betty (8/5): -
- Harshad (6/5): Okay for short stay - Okay for a short trip. Close to Oxford City. Good bus service.
- Susan (4/5): No Frills Accomodations - Bed linens were clean but room wasn't. Location is not as close to central Oxford as I hoped. Basic breakfast was toast, cereal and fruit. No lift.
- Jacob (6/5): - I liked that it was a big room and very spacious for me to spread out. My only complaint was that breakfast was limited to a one hour window from 8-9am. I was unable to have breakfast due to the limited window and my trip plans not being able to work around it.
- Jill (6/5): Most convenient location and very helpful staff - Location, Breakfast. Level of decoration and cleanliness
- Morit (7/5): -
- Shanmugam (8/5): -
- Rena (7/5): Great location, comfortable but needs to be more vegan aware! - Despite asking twice via Booking.Com and contacting the place directly, I never got a reply - just tried again calling them one more time (the number I had for them was always switched off) and got a reply! I'm a vegan so wanted soya milk available for breakfast - he did get some which was great but, sadly, not really anything else, like non dairy spread for toast, or dairy free yoghurts - maybe I was expecting too much? Having said that, there was plenty of bread, jam, cereals, fresh fruit and fruit juice so that was really good! The room was nice and great wifi and good size TV. Bin in the room was emptied daily which was good too! Location is really good for local shops and buses. As above, lack of communication, awareness of vegan requirements was surprising in such a cosmopolitan city and I have to say the general standard of cleanliness in the room was a bit lacking - lots of fluff under the desk and around the extension cable, and on the pipes in the bathroom. The shelf above the sink needed to be fixed - it was slanting downwards so I couldn't put anything on it without the items falling off, and the shower cubicle needed some attention.
- CCL71 (7/5): -
- Philip (5/5): Served its purpose without any comfort. - The cost was very reasonable for Oxford. Transport links into Oxford city centre were very good. The room was very small and felt it had been shoehorned into the attic. The bathroom although functional had a temperamental shower temperature level.
- emmanuel (9/5): -
- Nayessa (10/5): -
- Angels (7/5): Casa antiga. Correcta para pasar una noche - Ubicación
- Dave (10/5): Ideal stop for Oxford - Stayed for two nights on a motorcycle trip. Adams guest house is very conveniently situated for Oxford city centre and easily accessible from the ring road. It is on a main road but was very quiet at night. There are plenty of shops and places to eat within a short walk. There is parking for two cars at the front. The room was clean and comfortable although the decor is looking a bit tired, but that doesn't detract from a comfortable experience. I only eat flakes for breakfast but there was plenty of choice of cereals, breads, fruits, yoghurt etc for breakfast and the coffee was good. Manager and staff were very pleasant and accommodating. Definitely would stay again if coming to Oxford
- Hellen (10/5): - I had a good stay.The rooms are cozy.The bed was sooo comfortable
- Olivier (6/5): -
- TAIWO (10/5): Good value for money - Amazing stay with friendly staff making sure you're comfortable. I'd definitely stay again
- Daniela (6/5): - You get exactly what you paid for. Everything was okay. NO PARKING on the guest house. You may park on the side street for 3 hours during the day and overnight after 20:00 until 11:00.
Tired looking room, bathroom door didn’t close properly, basic breakfast. However they provided everything you needed - towels, shampoo, soap, hair dryer, kettle, tea, etc. The area was safe and quiet, buses very close to the guest house, which was convenient.
- Marlies (3/5): Mangelnde Sauberkeit - Verkehrsanbindung gut, Gastgeber freundlich Alles total unhygienisch und dreckig. Gerade das Badezimmer müsste komplett renoviert werden
- John (6/5): - Host was very helpful and quickly sorted out a problem we had. Well situated for visiting the University and City Centre.by public transport or on foot.
- Alison (5/5): Passable for a one night stay. - Parking outside. Good location as easy bus into Oxford. Clean bed. Very tired . Shower didn’t work. Rather grubby in general.
- Sibotshiwe (8/5): Very good - Our guest room was beautiful and cosy, we loved it! One towel had some yellow stains
- Lisa (8/5): Very good - Clean and practical, also good value for money, parking free on site. The rooms also had a fan which was a life saver. Very small rooms.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Budget accommodation; friendly staff team - This is a budget offering, so that has to be borne in mind. I had the single room which is up in the roof space. It was very hot (weather 32+ degrees), and they'd provided a small electric fan. However, the built-in blind in the velux is broken, so pinged up and sunlight poured in! Overall, it was fine for a stopover. I felt safe here. The parking spaces were taken, so they kindly offered me a parking permit. Easy win would be to fix the peg in shower room that requires a screw. It was clean and comfortable. I didn't stop for brekkie, so can't comment on that. It's run by a friendly, communicative staff team. I'd stay again as I know exactly what I'm getting.
- Patrice Pierre Henri (8/5): - Convenient transport to and from property, with some dining options nearby. The property is quite old though and could use a touch up.
- Simon (8/5): Ideal for short stay - Overall the place is fine and the bed was comfortable and clean with good size bathroom that had hot running water.
It was expected from a B&B . Location is in a nice area and easy to get into town with a lot of local buses going by. Staff were friendly and accommodating . if you looking for a nice short stay this works well .
- Tom (7/5): Good -
- Martha.vb (7/5): Pleasant family run b&b - The people who run this b&b are very friendly and checking in and out was easy. The bed was clean and comfortable and the shower worked very well. Overall I felt safe here. The location is nice in Summertown, close to shops and about 40 mins walk into Oxford center. My room was in need of some refurbishment as the balcony shelf and hooks were hanging off the wall, for example. My main complaint was that my room on the top floor got extremely hot. There was a heatwave and the window only opened a small amount and the blind did not fully close. So it was very hot in the room and difficult to sleep or spend much time in there.
- Hugh (9/5): Superb -
- Phumsuthapon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Duygu (4/5): - The room was pretty small and dusty. The shower drain wasn’t working. There was a window in the ceiling through which a lot of noise and cold air would come through. There was no elevator. The host was responsive when I contacted him about my late arrival though.
- Ryan (9/5): Superb - Basic breakfast, on the outskirts of Summertown but still only a 20 min walk into central or a 5 min bus. Excellent stay on a budget. For the price, nothing. Don't expect a fancy hotel, it's a nice, cheap and cheerful B and B.
- Kay (4/5): Disappointing -
- Clare (4/5): It served its purpose for a brief one night stay but I wouldn't recommend it. - I chose this place largely because of its location and it was very convenient for my particular purposes. The landlady was friendly. From the moment I stood at the front door, I felt that the place had seen better times. The door was scruffy and in need of a lick of paint - as was the whole interior. My room - a VERY compact (poky) single on the top floor - was badly in need of some TLC and re-decorating. While it was superficially clean, it sort of felt as if it hadn't been really thoroughly cleaned for ages. The bathroom was functional but also scruffy and there were weird noises from the plumbing throughout my stay.
- Morassi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elsabe Alice (8/5): Adam’s guest house - The stay was okay. There is parking available and it is on the bus route. The room was clean but the rug is a tripping hazard and a crack on the wardrobe which was covered with masking tape. Not a good look.
- Yongqing (6/5): Good location for a short visit. - Location
- Sreyoshi (6/5): - Property is good but the bathrooms are quite small. Breakfast options a bare minimum.Over all an ok stay.
- Uri (5/5): Passable - Excellent location, comfy beds, nice atmosphere The shower temperature controls were fidgety. Breakfast could have been better.
- Michael (6/5): - Friendly welcome and the 2 single beds comfortable. Our2 bikes were securely stored in the garage. The only problem was no power to charge the electric bike.
- April (4/5): budget accomodation with friendly staff but poor facilities - friendly staff responded to my requests. Bathroom well stocked with shower gel, shampoo & body creme. Breakfast well stocked with alternatives, but only cows milk available. I perfer nut or oat milk former guests towels left in room when I arrived. I put them outside the room. Room was grubby with old cushions on bed & an old blanket on lower half of bed. Towels were clean but old
- Alice (3/5): Poor - Unfortunately the shower drain was blocked so the water pooled, the bathroom smelt of drains.the water was not hot at times. The room was extremely dusty.
The location and price are great but I am not sure I would stay there again due to the dust
- Claire (6/5): Basic yet clean, hosts were nice but would only recommend for one night stay if not requiring more than somewhere to res - Location was close to town for what we needed, but not too close making it easy to access and travel in and out of Oxford Room was small, the beds weren’t the most comfortable and breakfast very basic. Woke up after a very restless night, hungry with options of cereal and toast - wasn’t most satisfying.
- Tian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shakir (8/5): - Great place in a great location.
- Mattias (8/5): - Nice breakfast. Very nice filter coffee.
Another thing. There is an English standard, and there is a Nordic standard. I've rated this according to what I take to be an English standard. Using a Nordic standard, the ratings for cleanliness and property conditions would definitely be lower. 2 stars at most, I am sorry to say.
- Ms (9/5): Superb - The staff is very welcoming. The shared dining area is relaxing, the small buffet for breakfast is fine for the price. There were tea, coffee, milk, bread, jam, butter, cereals, yoghurt, juice, fruit that you can choose from for your breakfast.
I appreciated that even I requested a little late(1hr before our arrival) for a small birthday greeting for my husband, the staff really put time and effort for this. A birthday card in an envelope addressing my husband's name and with 2packs(6pcs)of Ferrero chocolates is laid on our bed that really made my husband glad.
- Yusra (10/5): - Good visit 👍
- Sophie (7/5): Good -
- Verified traveler (6/5): Very basic, however with a smile ☺️ - Although Amanda was very welcoming the guest house was very basic, which is okay as it was a budget stay, however we booked for two nights and once we had checked in and stayed one night we were asked if we could move to another room for the second night because they had received a late booking. We understand things happen however we are pensioners with two large bags who are traveling around the UK as tourists.
We were put in the attic room and carried our bags up three flights of stairs.
The second night we were moved to the lowest level and had to repack our bags and carry them down the stairs again
We would have liked to stayed in the first room however she asked us to move and felt a little uncomfortable to say no, however probably should have.
The breakfast is very basic and with the TV news channel on throughout in the breakfast room, the ambiance was not relaxing and the news was to loud.
Unfortunately not a good experience and although Amanda tries very hard to run a good guest house I would like to see her focus on the simple things that make the difference and a good feel factor
- Yusuke (8/5): - Value for money.
- Shane (3/5): Poor -
- Emma (8/5): - A practical option for travellers with a bus stop 30 seconds from the front door into central Oxford. Very friendly hosts who were always willing to help - for instance, offering us parking vouchers for next-door Lonsdale Road where I parked for two days.
- Mohammed (9/5): Superb -
- Bryan (7/5): Great location and excellent value for money - Communications with Guest House staff was good. It was easy to find and (free) parking was available at the front (two spaces were available). We checked in at 12noon and checked out at the same time the next day. It takes about 25-30 mins to walk into the centre of Oxford from the Guest House. It's a long(ish) way but beats having to run the gauntlet of Zero Emission Zones and city centre car parks. From a location point of view therefore it wins top marks. The Guest House itself is a little tired looking but the rooms were clean enough. In terms of value for money it is great, especially given it included parking and breakfast. We did not sample the breakfast as we were too full from the previous night's meal. The staff were friendly and helpful. Overall, I would rate this Guest House as good. Great location and good value for money. The rooms and facade could do with updating from a decor point of view but you get what you pay for. I was not expecting the Ritz so I am not complaining.
- Veronica (4/5): - It was convenient, good value and near to shops, restaurants and transport - and surprisingly quiet for a main road. However there were no staff on site except for breakfast, the room was very cramped (it was sold to us as a double but was in fact a triple), the shower was almost impossible to get hot, there was no tea in the tea-making facilities, and the breakfast table having a knife and fork led us to expect a cooked breakfast which was not available. The door, windows and banisters all needed painting and were currently in a very dingy looking dark brown, though they had made a good effort to decorate for Christmas. We would not go there again.
- Susanne (6/5): Pleasant - Location was convenient. A bus ride into town took less than 15 minutes, and the owners kindly allowed us to leave car in the driveway after check-out for half a day. There were 2 parking spaces in front of the B&B so parking could potentially become a problem during peak times. Booked the place because breakfast sounded appealing but turned out to be a very basic continental breakfast. Property was old and bed not very comfortable though the room was quiet as it faced away from the busy road.
- Graham (8/5): Very good -
- clare (6/5): A good base in Oxford - We stayed for one night. It was a great base for going to see a show in Oxford. It was a 35 minutes walk, or you could bus from very close to the property. There were a couple of pubs, and local shops including M and S food. We luckily had use of the parking space outside and the owners asked us straight away if we needed parking.
Although the decor was a bit dated, the room was clean and warm. The bed was comfortable, en-suite was ok. Tea and coffee was supplied in the room. Breakfast was good, mainly continental, cereal toast we were also offed a fried egg and there was plenty of tea and coffee, a good range of jam and marmalade.
This was really good value for a B and B in Oxford. We would use it again if we needed somewhere to stay.
- Neven (9/5): Superb -
- Linda (10/5): - Lovely lady, very comfortable stay
