Guest Reviews
- Gillian (1/5): Extremely dissapointing will not return - The proprietor closes check far too early to be an appealing place to stay even for only one night Internet connection not working
Television not functioning
I did not like the attitude of the owner does not make you feel welcome
- Valeria (5/5): - La posizione La camera piccola, gli asciugamani non molto puliti, i bagni condivisi con estranei, nessuna tapparella oscurante
- Gary (8/5): - Very clean and comfortable stay lady was very helpful and friendly No issues
- Barbara (8/5): -
- Alison (3/5): I wouldn't book again - Didn't have any breakfast location was ok Room was small and very basic and with no one about it was unfriendly
- Stephanie (5/5): - Good location and nice sea views. The bathroom was a real surprise as it was really spacious.
The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. We didn't feel very welcome on arrival at the property - almost as though we were being told off for using booking.com.
The owner had added touches that reflect their own taste - zebra print throws and bright artwork. All very well but maybe focus more on the peeling discoloured wallpaper on the landing first.
- Tweedie (3/5): Never again - It remembered me of staying at my grans It all
- Marita (6/5): - Ganska lite saker men ok. Serverades i ett annat hus dörren brevid. Incheckning bara kort tid.
- Miss Thomson (7/5): -
- Foster (8/5): Great wee getaway. Would go back. - The location was excellent. Minute walk from
The town and the harbour. The only problem I had was I couldn't use the kettle as it has a rusty element.
- Fawns (5/5): Most enjoyable - everything was 1st class except noise from next room talking all nightbn Noise from next door was all.
- Curletti (7/5): -
- Gift (1/5): It was the most disgusting place I’ve stayed in - It was filthy, full of bed bugs nothing Looked nothing like the picture
- barbara (7/5): -
- Carol (6/5): - The location The room was tiny, no room for suitcases. The shower was so tiny we could not bend down to pick up soap.
- Dominika (5/5): -
- Greg (5/5): Nearly nice. - Location. 4 pm check in, too late. Bed and Bedding was old and uncomfortable.
Seems like we were a disruption to the lady’s day. Not out of place in snow whites gang.
- Anderson (8/5): Comfortable and quiet :-) - I loved the breakfast. My bed was very comfortable. Staff were friendly. Awesomecshower. Thought too many people squeezed in the glengorm dining room on my last morning.
- Emily (10/5): - Full of character, good price for a family room and good location for ferry! Accommodated us last minute!
- douglas (4/5): Most disappointing about the accommodation only seen the woman that took our payment she and another person did carry ou - We did not like anything of the property That it was upstair with hand basin in corner of the room one hard back chair and one not so comfy chair did have a on suite bathroom but it was that small to get into the shower you had to go in side ways as for the view from the bedroom all we could see was roof of garage when we book this and saw a lovely room with a large walk in shower which my partner needed as he amputee he did brig his shower seat and we tried all ways to get it into shower cubicle and get through the door of shower Now we my partner book through you the description was nothing like what we saw on the site
- tate (7/5): -
- Lafitte (6/5): Propreté très moyenne. - Bon emplacement Propreté très moyenne (chambre et salle de bain), personnel peu accueillant
- Males (4/5): - Convenient to town Shabby and no staff plus expensive
- Mark (7/5): -
- Isabel (10/5): -
- Pierre (6/5): Good for a short stay - The location was great, I liked the Victorian decor, the washroom was clean, the lady welcoming us was nice. The sheet on the bed was not a contour sheet so it was always unravelling. The room was tiny. I would have liked a chilling spot like a common living room or a small kitchen where I could put things in the fridge. But it's fine for one or two nights.
- Head (7/5): Very convenient for ferries to the Isles - No fuss booking and check in.
- Giacomo (8/5): Struttura piccola con poche stanze, la nostra all'ultimo piano aveva il bagno riservato esterno alla camera. Ho trov - Comodo vicino al centro cittá, il bagno e la camera erano puliti. Riscaldamenti accesi nonostante fosse caldo fuori.
- Stevenson (8/5): Good except what I said abive - Had to extra for breakfast for the price breakfast should have been included in price Shared bathroom as my wife has mobility issues
- Sebastian (8/5): - It was nice, the breakfast was very simple, but OK.
- Graham (5/5): -
- Maureen (9/5): Superb -
- Karen (2/5): - Tiny room. Not allowed to use kitchen which was absolutely filthy anyway. Shower was terrible, room smells of mould. Left early.
- Maximilian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gerard (7/5): Good -
- James (4/5): Oban is a fabulous place to stay but our accommodation was very very poor and expensive. - The room was small but acceptable the shower was the smallest I have ever been in ,when you drop the soap you have not enough room to pick it up. The whole place needs a major upgrade and refurbished. Breakfast was not offered during our stay. The location was perfect. We will not return to this accommodation. The door lock was covered by tape and had been damaged this made us uneasy ,there was no toilet roll holder , the decor was very poor and needed renewed , basicly the whole building needs refurbished.
- Ann (9/5): Value location, good BnB - Very central. We were in Oban for Sea Shanty Festival, held in lots of locations, BnB was well positioned. It was fine
- Peter (2/5): - The owner/worker was more prepared to argue about me not notifying them about my various disabilities than the fact the advertising omitted a 3 flight of stairs to the allocated room. Well as the owner of the two properties either side to the one we booked so was able to find a second story room in one of those. Still very difficult to access with narrow stair. The room was old and smelly, black mould in the smallest en-suite and the toilet seat had feacal matter under the toilet seat and on top of it! We managed to pay for 2 of our 3 night booking but didn’t stay at St Anne’s and found far superior to that crap pit we booked through WOTIF!! It’s disgraceful and I recommend everyone avoids it like COVID! Same on the owner and cleaners and WOTIF for allowing such listings!!!
- Alexander (3/5): Okay, but nothing special. - Location. Felt the property was looking dated and in need of a refresh.
- R (7/5): Good place just to sleep - Location was excellent and the staff was pleasant. No complimentary breakfast. We did not get daily clean towels. The beds were uncomfortable. We had to take out our own trash.
- Sharon (4/5): - Limited check in time and reception needs a lesson in customer service. Facility very dated. Do not order breakfast full hot breakfast available nearby for the same price. Towels and bedding threadbare. Needs deep cleaning and refresh. Lighting poor. Bathroom sink tap is for kitchen and lose. Killed 3 bugs. For less than $1-2,000 lbs this place can become 3 + star. Definitely not a B&B. Not a vetted place.
- John (6/5): Pleasant - The room was spotless, toilet was spotless, plenty towels about. Television in room wasn't working, cold tap in sink wasn't working.
- Jules (3/5): Location was excellent, accommodation was basic. - It was a great central location. The rooms were basic and staff did not go out of their way to be friendly.
- Robyn (7/5): We were glad that this accommodation was only a 10-15 minute walk away from the Ferry Terminal. - The location to the Ferry Terminal for our Three Island Day Trip with West Coast Ferries was good. The bed was comfy and the shower was hot. The shower cubicle was no more than 700mm x 700mm - very confined. The room was also quite small so all it could fit was a bed - adequate but a bit more space would have been good considering the room cost $182 AUD per night.
When someone advertises Free Parking I expect the parking to be free but in fact it was only free between 6pm and 9am and only if you could get a park on the street. If not you had to park in a car park 200-300 metres away and carry your stuff in and out. As we were away on a day trip we also had to pay for a days parking at the above mentioned car park - not free parking!!
- Singh (8/5): Value for money - Good location Less spacious
- Zaida (5/5): Fortunately short. - N/A
Supplies and kettle appropriate for my short stay. The room was cold even with the heater on. The curtains were very thin and did not stop the cold draft from getting in. The towels, sheets and pillows need to be replaced, they are old and bad quality.
I did not know the private bathroom although right outside the room was accesible through an exterior hall.
No plug near the bed or any accesible place to charge the phone.
- Colin (8/5): Very good -
- Agnew (7/5): Good -
- Anne (7/5): Good -
- Reena (8/5): Very good -
- Brian (6/5): - Small bedroom. But sufficed
- Anonymous (10/5): Comfy was all I needed - My vehicle diesal was syphoned to nothing whilst parked on the street opposite the house. I was fortunate that the gas station was just around the corner opposite Lidl. So ensure you have a lockable tank cap.
This however isn’t a reflection on the property at all.
Times are getting desperate in this fallen world and can only pray that the residents come together in prayer meetings and really pray over the healing of the land. ABBA father says the land will be healed if the people repent and cast there sin on him
Yah bless
- Gudrun (6/5): Pleasant -
- Pouravi (8/5): Very good -
- Christina (8/5): Very good -
- Jayne (7/5): Had a great time in Oban plenty too do great bars and restaurants - Clean comfy bed 👍few minutes to town wonderful staff For the price everthing was fine.
- Ricky (8/5): Very good -
- Henry (6/5): It was handy for me but I certainly wouldn’t take my wife there. my wife there - The property is in a prime location. There wasn’t a plug in the sink. It doesn’t have private parking. The bedroom window could do with being double glazed or at least cleaned and given a cost of paint. There was only one electrical plug which had a four bar extension. I am amazed that the electrical certificate didn’t flag that up. The floor wasn’t hoovered while I was there and I dropped some crisps on the carpet without anything to remove them.
- Iain (8/5): Very good -
- Liam (8/5): Very good -
- Morrison (9/5): Superb -
- Anita (7/5): Great stay - Good location Stair but that’s to be expected
- Alastair (5/5): Passable -
- Reta (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rita (10/5): Exceptional - So friendly and uncomplicated
- Ann (6/5): - Not very welcoming, Not enough wall sockets!! Bed side lamp but no socket to use it. Furniture old and uncomfortable!!
- George (8/5): Very good - Location Price
- Jimena (5/5): Passable -
- Lorna (5/5): Pleasant - Location Top of the stairs , as we older travelers found it difficult
Kettle , and t.v were not working
- Nancy (5/5): You can do way better in Oban for the same price. We won’t stay here again. - Great location with free street parking overnight. Our toilet and the light over our sink were broken. The room was dingy.
Staff not very friendly.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It was very basic
- Suzanne (4/5): Spend a little more money. - Location was convenient to town. Parking was up the street and only free from 6pm-9am. Damned unfriendly vibe. Warning signs posted everywhere.
- Mary (5/5): Basic and clean enough but wouldn’t stay more than 1 night - The location was great Shared bathroom
- Jacqueline (4/5): - Did not enjoy the stay in this accommodation. On arrival lady that met us was unwelcoming and only interested In filling in forms. Very abrupt.
Continental breakfast was a joke all food left out overnight as nobody to see to what was happening as reception only available from 4pm until 6pm
Would not recommend this property
- Kenneth (1/5): Would not recommend it to anyone - Room was basic and cold. Windows were draughty Fire alarm went off and there was nobody to help. After checking in there was nobody around for help. No tourist information
- Mundie (6/5): Enjoy our stay a part from that - Nice quite place easy to get too. Ideal fir 2 nights Must up. grade tv . It was not great at all. For too high
Up st the ceiling had to put volume so high . Abd a job finding program required ALSO cane back to room after breakfast and a man came out of Our bathroom . .he didn't even pull the toilet plug not acceptable with all our personal belongings in the bathroom
- John (7/5): Clean and comfortable - Room was clean and tidy Shower room could of been bigger
- Merrilee (6/5): Overall we had a nice stay - • Staff, when there, was helpful and nice
• Room was comfortable and clean
• Bathroom was clean
• It was nice to have a sink in the room
• Oban is a cute town
• Very nice, large playground for kids within walking distance • Not a true B&B
• Breakfast is 6 GBP extra and consists of an individual size box of cold cereal, toast/bagels, and drink, maybe fruit too. Not worth 6 GBP in our opinion
• We were told we could use the fridge. We put the little ones milk in it and by the time we needed it for bedtime it was gone. Someone had helped themselves to it
• Shower was not great. Lukewarm at best
• There was a light fixture above the sink in the room that needs repair
• No place to hang a hand towel in the room by the sink
• Take out food wasn't allowed in our room. That was a big turn off for us especially with little kids
• Parking was extra. You have to park in a paid lot and keep feeding the meter. My understanding is that there is usually parking available on the street but there was an event and construction that used it
• PREBOOK ALL FERRY TICKETS for the Oban ferry or you probably will not get passage when you need/want it. We found out the hard way
- Billy (3/5): Poor - Location Damp , stained and very uncomfortable bed, unlockable bedroom window, questionable electrics and the so called private bathroom that is very well photographed to give the impression of en suite is unsecured. On our second day we went out for a meal on our return most of our bathroom items were missing. Had enough, left a day early not even worth having the conversation. Been going to Oban for 40 years, worst experience ever!
- Harbinson (7/5): It worked for visiting Kerrera for the day. - Guest house a bit pricey but managed to park right outside
Short walk down to George street and great cooked breakfast at Cuan Mor restaurant! Toilet paper dispenser next to toilet not way up high on windowsill!
- Wilma (9/5): Superb -
- Anne (4/5): Disappointing - Easy to find. Good greeting. Good continental breakfast (costs extra).
I did read the reviews but know some are less tolerant than us so ignored the warnings. In the bedroom secondhand furniture that looked like Freecycle rejects and dated 1980s lighting with about 40watt bulbs, so no reading in bed or whilst sitting in the wicker chairs. Also the room smelt of unwashed people, this cleared once we opened the window.
The shared bathroom had towel ring and toilet roll holder missing. The plug was missing from the basin, the tap on the basin was a kitchen tap that was not fastened down properly, you have to hold it whilst turning the taps. There are rusty puddles at the bottom of the heated towel rail pipes where they are leaking. The bathroom door needs refinishing where it has suffered water damage.
If you want to speak to someone you have to phone a mobile number.
Expensive for what we got.
- Deanna (7/5): Good value - Close to the ferry and central Shared bathroom
- Oneill (10/5): Our stay was pleasent -
- Dorothy (6/5): Quiet and pleasant, just what I was hoping for. - Location was good walking distance to the town, the accommodation was clean and quiet at night,no interruptions during the night,so a good sleep was had. Nothing that I can think off.
- Elaine (8/5): Overall good stay bed was comfy parking was near by host we nice - We liked the location as it was near to where our relatives were staying. That the bathroom was separate as a I booked a room with private bathroom I thought it was in the room and not a separate private bathroom
- Nicola (9/5): Basic room, In great location - The room was good value for money, basic but with everything you would need. Kettle with plenty of tea and coffee available in the room, also had a hairdryer. Location was perfect, close to town and shops and within easy walking distance of Ganavan Sands. The bed and pillows were very firm, ok if you like them like that but I found them uncomfortable. The shower didn't have much pressure, but did the job.
- Helz (10/5): Cheap and cheerful - Was central Bed was a bit uncomfortable
- Robert (5/5): Passable -
- Kara (4/5): - Very misleading description of the parking situation, be prepared to have to pay for parking somewhere in town during the day. Don’t bother paying for breakfast, you are better off finding a cafe somewhere downtown. Definitely not worth the money we paid for a two night stay, unfortunately
- Dorothy (6/5): It was okay but nothing special - It was adequate
- Debra (3/5): Poor -
- Didhiti (3/5): Poor -
- Edward (8/5): Very good - Met all the conditions I needed it to. Doors to room could be a little heavy and noisy to close.
- Ron (8/5): Very good -
- Anthony (8/5): Very good - The quietness and cleanliness of Oban overall not just the Guest House. Not applicable
