Guest Reviews
- David (1/5): It was awful. - I didn’t get the chance to see inside the property as it is closed for business. It was closed and wasn’t informed by booking.com about this.
- Susan (8/5): Stay was very relaxing just what we needed will be back very soon - Breakfast was very good great value all staff very pleasant Nothing
- Robert (6/5): Budget stay in a good location but with adequate accommodation. - Location was very central in the village and close to bus link and beach Very tired/dated accommodation. Bed was extremely low to the ground and mattress was very springy.
- Martin (10/5): Lovely stay in Gorey at the Old Bank House Hotel. Great value for money. - Property was very clean with comfortable, spacious rooms. The hotel is family run and everyone is very friendly and accommodating. There is plenty of parking in the hotel car park. The hotel is in a great location with just a short walk to Mont Orgueil Castle and the beachfront. Shower pressure was very low.
- Carlos (8/5): Very good - Location Beds/pillows uncomfortable
Windows were really dirty
- Philip (9/5): Superb -
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional -
- Antony (5/5): just acceptable - good breakfast quiet location bedding not changed towels not changed bathroom not checked before arrival room not hoovered
- Barbara (7/5): Helpful staff -
- Jane (3/5): We would not stay there again - The room was spacious and clean. Refreshments were not replenished every day.
Did not see any staff for the 5 days we were there. No welcome pack in the room, the bar and restaurant did not seem to be open.
Red net curtains are not a good idea for a hotel room!
- Dale (8/5): Very good -
- Suzi (10/5): It's really handy as a base and the beach - Clean rooms with tea/coffee making facilities, very cosy, and own private shower room. Loved the added washroom nessararys free of charge. Because we didn't use the restaurant downstairs, we never met any Staff.
- Deborah (8/5): excellent - breakfast was excellent. The rooms were clean. Beds were comfortable in 19/21/4. Room 4 a little cold in the evening. Very friendly staff Maybe heating in the evenings in september.
- Neil (8/5): Very clean - good location - Location was good More milk for in room coffee
- Bewhay (7/5): Good -
- Rudolph (5/5): Reasonable, value for money, staff friendly, evening meal very tasty. - Breakfast was extra and more expensive than local cafe where we went every morning as food was great and prices reasonable. As friend over 60 years old and myself not far behind, we were on top floor (3rd).no lift ,so using stairs was a bit tiring, especially with luggage which we had to carry ourselves.
- John (8/5): peacefull - Comfort and quiet n/a
- Nigel (10/5): A nice hotel, run by lovely in a great location near the beach and bus route. We would definitely st - The cheerful, hard-working staff at the hotel are amazing and were super helpful. We loved our stay and would definitely stay again. Below the hotel is The Ranch restaurant, a family and pet-friendly place to eat. The breakfast and evening meals we had there were superb. The hotel itself is well placed just a very short walk from Gorey beach and harbour, where it's easy to access regular buses to St Helier and beyond.I t was perfect for our long weekend. Not a criticism, but just be aware, like many hotels, it's a bit of a climb to the upper rooms, so if this is likely to be a problem, just let the staff know beforehand and they'll do their best to accommodate your needs.
- Cpho (8/5): Very good -
- Rachel (7/5): Great hotel good value for money friendly staff excellent position - Location and clean room
- Kershaw (7/5): Good -
- Maud (10/5): Lovely stay in a lovely hotel with great staff. Definitely recommending it! -
- Margaret (1/5): I like where The hotel was situated in Goryvillage but The organisation could’ve been much better - Well when we got there there was no one about do I phone, a man came and let us in and took us to room no 8, lily had told me on the we where in no 21, when we saw the room it had a double bed, I had booked a twin room, as I was sharing with my brother! Also we had to pay for breakfast and I had booked, breakfast included! So we were not happy! It took us along time eventually we got another room after Lily told us we were fully booked. They shouldn’t only said you can go in room 17 which also had a double bedding so we ended up having a room each that was for Tuesday night and Wednesday night and then Thursday morning there was a knock on the door at 10 o’clock saying you had to get out of this room for 1030. We found you a room with two beds in and I was leaving to go to a funeral at 10:15 so it was such a panic. The place is clean and the bedroom is nice but the organisation is shocking and you know when you arrive at 9:30 in the evening and have all this aggravation it’s just not on. I would not recommend this place at all and I will never stay there again. !!! Things could’ve been much better there should’ve been someone there to greet you show you to your room and you should get the room you bought my boot a twin room for me and my brother to share for three nights with breakfast including there was no breakfast she had to pay for itand she showed us into a room with a double bed and I just said there’s no way I can share with my brother he’s a big guy. We wouldn’t have got any sleep and we’d come to my auntie’s funeral which was on Thursdays Thursday morning I like the area but I won’t stay in the hotel ever again. The organisation is shocking. The breakfast was nice and we had to And she showed us into a room with a double bed and I just said there’s no way I can share with my brother he’s a big guy. We wouldn’t have got any sleep and we’d come to my auntie‘s funeral which was on Thursdays Thursday morning. I like the area but I won’t stay in the hotel ever again. They organisation is shocking the breakfast was nice and we had to pay £15-99 for egg on toast and a pot of tea !
- Estelle (9/5): The perfect hotel for a recharge and switch off. - We loved how quaint it was, and minutes away from gorey beach! Stunning location, lovely family-run, friendly hotel. Nothing!
- Danielle (4/5): Compared to similar hotels, this was disappointing unfortunately. - The location was great. We weren't expecting 3 flights of stairs to get to our room which was very small and unbearably hot. The bathroom sink was in our room with no window in a tiny toilet with shower. We were expecting the bar to be open but were told it was only open at the weekend which was also disappointing.
- John (10/5): Exceptional - Great location and lovely hotel Water pressure in shower a bit low
- Emma (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mclean (8/5): I enjoyed my stay, great location, friendly staff and I would come back again. - Good location, beach and other places of interest within walking distance. Bus stop nearby and helpful staff who gave plenty of info for bus routes. Nice food and great outdoor area for eating. There was really nothing to dislike.
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional - Great value hotel and in a nice location in Gorey Village close to the sea. Staff working there are lovely.
- Claudia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Peter (5/5): A convenient and functional stay. - The Old Bank House Hotel is clean, functional (if a bit dated) with friendly staff. You get a real sense that the Hotel is a family-run business. Dinner was good although only available on Friday and Saturday evenings. The shower was useable (just) but offered little more than a trickle of water-pressure. In the morning, water was cool while in the evening hot. The Wifi was patchy; the TV reception was stretched. No breakfast was served before 9am.
- Sharmili (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rosemary (9/5): Very happy with the stay , nice quiet area. staff friendly. Plenty of country walks nearby - I’ve stayed before so more than happy to return. Breakfast is freshly cooked and tasty
- Chantal (8/5): Nice break - We liked the warm welcome of the lady, and the kind and friendly staff.
We enjoyed a lovely fish and chips for the evening meal.
The hotel was very quiet and peaceful, perfect to relax, close to lovely streets.
- Mckenna (10/5): Very good In every way - The staff were great so helpful and.frendly . Brilliant fry at a good price. Comfortable room Nothing
- Kayser (1/5): Bad - Very small and bed no good Not really I stay every week new new place com fair to this it’s really poor
- Phil (9/5): Great value, warm welcome - We enjoyed our stay at this hotel which took us by surprise a little as we didn't know what to expect. I asked if a free airport transfer was available as this is advertised and indeed we were met by an really pleasant and enthusiastic owner who kindly waited for us despite a slight delay to our arrival due to a bird strike, The hotel is rated 2 star but surely deserves higher as it is clean and comfortable, serves a good breakfast and is missing nothing you would expect. A lot of effort has been made to make the large outdoor garden space a good place to be with plenty of seating and a plethora of entertainment for young children in secure play areas, lights hang from timber frames at night which enhances this Ranch style hotel restaurant. The bus stop is a 3 minute walk with Gorey village further 7 minutes walk along a scenic promenade. There are shops nearby the hotel which include a general store, chemist, Chinese take-away and some lovely local shops. The view of Gorey harbour, castle, bars and eateries make it worth a visit in this quiet laid back part of Jersey. (Well lets face it to its credit all of Jersey is friendly and laid back!) A warm welcome guaranteed here, it is great value for money and would book again. All good
- John (9/5): Definitely recommend this value for money hotel - Very friendly staff, comfortable rooms, excellent breakfast. Ideal location. The rooms on the top floor, just be careful of the sloping roof
