Guest Reviews
- Abeer khan (10/5): -
- Natalie (10/5): Idyllic, comfy beds - great place to rest when on a driving tour of rural Victoria. - Rural location and historical significance appealed to the scientific nerds within us. Cottage was comfortable & suited our on the road touring rural Victoria plans. Also Garry gave us a great tip re., a local eatery- Red Rock Bistro.

- tania (10/5): - Character and history of Monash House accommodation was really interesting as well as, very comfortable, private and dog friendly with lots of land for the dog to run and explore. Location was great, close to Colac and scenic attractions.
Friendly host. Happy to recommend and would stay again.
- Geoff (4/5): Better suited to being an AirBNB than on Booking.com. Not a hotel, motel nor B&B - Quiet country location. Unfortunately the beautiful house seen in the photos is not where you stay. Quote "You're staying in the maid's quarters at the back - the white doors out the back.". It was a maid's quarters. Not great value for $240
- Andy (10/5): - Always a pleasure to stay
- Janice (10/5): Owners friendly. Cottage met all our needs. - The cottage met all our needs. Beds comfortable.
Enjoyed the setting.

- Kaylyn (9/5): Lovely pet friendly country retreat - Everything was great The colonial Union Jack/flag on the property

- Tamara (10/5): Tranquility with history - Great property. Nice walks. Dog friendly. Cosy. Outdoor sensor didn’t always come on.
- Gianluigi (8/5): -
- Carrie (7/5): - Beautiful setting and has everything you need Nothing
- Sarah (9/5): Spacious and comfortable cottage in a peaceful rural setting - The cottage was spacious and homely with beautiful rooms and lots of fascinating history. It's set on a farm, so we were surrounded by animals and rural life. The heating and sunlight streaming into the lounge room in the morning made it lovely and cosy in the middle of winter. The kitchen was huge and well stocked. Nothing to report.
- Anonymous (8/5): Very comfortable . I would go back to spend more time there - Very comfortable. Heaters on when I arrived and facilities as needed. Unique accomodation in old field station for something a bit different .
- Jillian (8/5): Very good - peace and quiet beautiful scenery All good
- Deb (4/5): Disappointing -
- Brendan (10/5): - It’s a very pretty cottage.
I personally think Garry and Sharyn did an amazing job to upkeep and maintain the condition of the property, given it was built back in 1800s. We stayed at Maids Quarter, which is 2 bed, separate kitchen, lounge room, and bathroom, very spacious and well equipped.
The atmosphere is quiet and idyllic.
Would like to come back for longer stay.
- Matthias (10/5): Exceptional - The place was dog friendly, it was so calm, the location was great, the surroundings was gorgeous, it was all we needed to chill for the night.
We got greated as we arrived, showed about a hike to Red Rock (which we did and was amazing), our host even told us about a dog friendly pub that was nearby.
Would come back anyday Nothing we disliked
- Sanders (8/5): Very good - Great location. Beautiful historic house. Great views from nearby lookout. A lovely place to stay. We struck a hot day and the aircon struggled to cool the cottage. Otherwise...a quirky and very well appointed cottage.
- Joanne (8/5): Relaxing country experience. - Quiet and restful place.
- Rob (9/5): Superb -
- O'carroll (10/5): Beautiful location - Absolutely beautiful, quiet location. The cottage is very roomy. The bed is like sleeping on a cloud. We have stayed in the cottage twice now and thoroughly enjoyed both times, we will be booking again this year. Absolutely nothing.
- Andrew (10/5): - Great place fantastic historic homestead. Everything was perfect.
- Debra (9/5): Lovely quiet destination - Beautiful home
- Akshay (10/5): Exceptional -
- Aurimas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Camilleri (7/5): Peaceful, quaint and charming . - Peaceful, clean, well equipped. We arrived on a very, very hot day. And it was very hot in the main bedroom.
- Jo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ruth (9/5): Superb - Perfect location, enjoyed staying in a cottage with history.
- Ian (7/5): Comfortable - I loved the location in the countryside Little bit funny with toilet and bathroom
- Jude (9/5): Nice quiet place comfortable beds nice warm with heat pump on - Lovely quiet location in maids quarters, lovely old house The bathroom door is a hazard as can jam fingers with shower
Couldn’t drink water was brown colour
- Idan (9/5): Excellent - We had an amazing stay at this farm stay! It's a wonderful place, simple yet equipped with everything we needed. Garry, the owner, was incredibly helpful and made our stay even more enjoyable.
The property is perfect for pet owners - our dog loved the space too! And with Colac just a 15-minute drive away, offering supermarkets, cafes, and more, the location couldn't be better. Highly recommended! No BBQ
- Frank (9/5): Superb -
- Kim (7/5): Cosy on a bad day - Good location Weather
- Chantel (10/5): Perfect location, great host. clean and had everything we needed in the cabin - would go back!! - Perfect location, great facility!
- Bernadette (9/5): Superb - The property was stocked with every conceivable item we could need. It was clean, lights and heaters on awaiting our arrival.
- Sean (10/5): Quiet, private, and cozy. - Lovely place that felt very private. The place was well furnished and cozy. The bed was comfortable with a pretty firm mattress. The few nights I stayed there we experienced end times-level bad weather but inside it was barely noticible. Already planning to stay again. Wifi either wasn't working or not available.
- Suet (9/5): Ok - Nature
- Peter (5/5): Passable - the building had plenty of white goods to make a long term stay easy. the heating was very poor for the colder time of year so our stay was uncomfortable. Been an old building it is normally naturallly cold/little insulation.
- William (9/5): Superb - Fabulous little place with some interesting history. Welcomed by the host. Very comfortable place to stay. They need a slightly better stocked kitchen. Had to improvise, grating some parmasan cheese!
- Susan (8/5): - Our accommodation was very comfortable and warm and welcoming of our pet dog Tara. Gary, our host was helpful and accommodating. Would recommend to others 😊
- O'carroll (10/5): Cosy cottage - Peace & quiet in a beautiful setting. Warm and cosy cottage. I cannot say that there was anything that we didn't like.
- Paksing (10/5): Exceptional - The kitchen n the environment.
- Claudine (8/5): Very good -
- Martin (8/5): The location was magnificent. The accommodation was comfortable and warm. We would go back. - Very private, the cottage was much larger than most overnight motel rooms. the rural setting was quiet and delightful. The bed was very comfortable, the rooms were well appointed and our dog was happy. My wife was amazed by the enormous kitchen dining area which was equipped with everything you could possibly require. Hard to fault. If anything the fact that the cabin had been repurposed meant that some aspects were a bit dated. We were a bit disappointed that the additional fee for having a pet was quite high.
- Penny (9/5): Loved our stay at Coragulac House Cottages - Loved the setting. Loved the relaxed n comfy accommodation with a history to it. Loved the opportunity to tour the historic Coragulac House. Great hosts. Highly recommended. Only sorry we were not staying longer!
- Miguel (10/5): Great acoomodation! - N/A Nil
- Helen (10/5): The weather was good, the moon shone and I saw the sunrise. Gary was so hospitable and allowed me to rattle on about ‘th - It reminded me of the past. I was familiar with Coragulac House. Monash Cottage was perfect. I should have stayed longer!
- Kruse (10/5): Lovely host -
- Nigel (8/5): Very good -
- Ann (9/5): Superb -
- Anthony (8/5): - We stayed in the Monash Cottage as it is pet friendly, this was a major attraction for our stay. The Monash Cottage is quite a rustic building with a unique history, however the basic nature of the building won’t be for everyone. But it worked really well for our purposes and would stay again. This site is an interesting piece of living history in a rural setting.
- Paul (8/5): Very good - Everything worked, and the facilities were stocked with the necessary goods (crockery, cutlery, coffee machine, linen, soaps, etc).
The place was clean and tidy, and the beds were comfortable. The place was listed as disability friendly, but there are a set of internal stairs. We had one person with Parkinson's. This made it challenging, but not impossible.
We had one very hot night, and the single air conditioner is not enough to cool the place (especially the bedrooms). Because the cottage is made of cement sheeting (or fibro board, or something similar), insulation is virtually non-existent.
- Sherilyn (8/5): It served our needs and we would consider it again for future events. - Isolated venue/farm atmosphere. Close to Colac. Red Rock sights. Comparisons! A previous stay was in the maid's quarters - a more attractive space.
- Clement (10/5): - The cabin at Coragulac House was perfect for our needs. Cosy and comfortable - tucked away on the property for privacy. The cabin had all that we needed - Gary and Sharyn were friendly and helpful.
Gorgeous setting and so comfy - we highly recommend this property and would definitely stay again!
- Megan (10/5): Comfy farm stay - Bed was super comfy. Shower was hot. The kitchen is very well equipped. Super clean. Hosts were efficiently and friendly to deal with. Peaceful location.
- Hunter (8/5): Very rustic and charming - The area Nothing
- Nicki (8/5): Very good -
- Farrugia (9/5): Lovely host, beautiful views and delicious local cookies on arrival which made for a yummy dessert! -
- Dean (8/5): Great stay in well priced accommodation. - I was travelling for work, so this cottage was ideally suited to field work that I was doing. The cottage was well equipped and comforatble with all that was needed. There was no wifi available, and since I needed this for work purposes whilst I was travelling it would have been good to have known this, but otherwise no complaints.
- Melanie (10/5): Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Would certainly recommend staying at Coragulac House. - Perfect location for our stay in the Colac area. Beautiful countryside and wonderful hosts. We found the history of Coragulac House very interesting.
Thanks for the tour Garry.
- Michael (8/5): Very good -
- Briony (8/5): Very good -
- Kathryn (9/5): Superb -
- Fran (4/5): This experience made me realise I have to research more an advertised property before I click ok. - The location as in Colac was beautiful and gave us the farmstay experience that we were looking for. The host gave us a place to visit for dinner and it exceeded our expectations. Not what we thought we were getting. The photo on the Booking.com website showed a beautiful stately home on a farm and we thought we were going to be staying in a country home complete with antique furniture and cosy rooms. Instead, we got a 2 bedroom converted "shed" down the back of the farm, which was anything but old and country homestead. The description indicated that it was 2 levels, where in fact it had 3 steps leading from a tv room to the kitchen/bedroom area. The shower was disgusting - you had no room once you stepped out of the shower (about a foot) to dry yourself and get changed. There were no hooks to hang clothes or towels, so everytime one of us wanted to have a shower, we had to close the doors at the top of the three steps so that we could get changed in the tv room.
- Ivan (8/5): met our requirements to a tee will be back - Cooked own breakfast, nice quiet and comfortable location
- Kathryn (9/5): Superb -
- Karin (10/5): - Beds very comfortable and warm. Beautiful farmlands. Red Rock great lookout worth a visit.
- Joanne (10/5): Exceptional - Lots of room. Kids loved ruining around outside. Beds were really cosy.
- Janet (9/5): Very quiet and relaxing and a great place to stay and catch up with friends or family. - Self catered breakfast easily prepared with supplied facilities The signage at the property entrance was difficult to see from the road.
- Graham (7/5): Good - great location. unfortunately there was a doggy odour in the lounge area, it needed some deodorizer as dogs had been on the lounge and carpet.
- Julie (5/5): Passable -
- Roto (8/5): Very good - Quite and loverly Nothing
- Margaret (9/5): Great location. Clean accommodations. Well taken care of and set up. - Very well appointed and carefully stocked. Clearly thought and care went into preparing the space. Very clean and well cared for. The host was helpful and kind. A little drafty which wouldn't have mattered except we were there on an extremely windy night. The heating was great and the electric blankets worked a treat.
- Sally (7/5): Was a nice place, but would not suit us again. - The accommodation was a good space for our family to do a catch up. Electric blankets was really nice and a great claw foot bath was a definite plus. we booked the accommodation as it was noted as pet friendly, but the place we were in wasn’t, but it still stated in the property policy as pet friendly. I went back in and you cannot pick which accommodation you get and which one is pet friendly.
Also the heater wasn’t on when we got there, so was very cold and took a long time to heat up. The dishwasher was full of dirty dishes and I didn’t realise until I was serving dinner so had to wash dishes. After we got home on the Saturday the owners must of been painting as the really strong smell came through the joining door into the hall where the bedrooms were, which was very unpleasant.
- Mo (8/5): Very good -
- Lachlan (7/5): Good -
- Gilbert (6/5): Pleasant - The bed was very comfortable. The heating was adequate. The surroundings were quiet. We were able to take our 2 dogs. There was no Wi-Fi. There were 2 lights that did not work.
- Lyn (9/5): Location was excellent, very comfortable and relaxing. - Excellent location
- Matthew (8/5): Great location - It's a beautiful and quiet location No wifi and the beds were quite uncomfortable.
- Sam (10/5): Exceptional - Garry and Sharon were amazing with their hospitality. The environment was fantastic. Would stay again definitely need to do some of the touristy things next time though.
- Katharine (8/5): Very good -
- Kevin (8/5): A great character property with fantastic hosts - The Monash Cottage was a quaint, historic property that provided a comfortable place to stay with good facilities for self-catering
- Robert (8/5): Enjoyable location beautiful surroundings country and scenery - Beautiful country, magnificent building and history Needs a larger fridge
- Robert (9/5): Superb -
- Graeme (8/5): Very good -
- Peter (9/5): great location and great little surprise accom - great history in the converted field office and the property and main house was beautiful. 45 min walk to an amazing sunset and check out the red rock and the views of the largest inland sea lake were amazing
- Amy (8/5): Very good -
