Guest Reviews
- Roy (10/5): - Lovely location. Nothing
- Michael (8/5): -
- Estela (3/5): Hassle with Booking.com, fortunately room opened last minute. - Location Condition of building
- Matthew (3/5): Atrocious renovations. Not worth it. - Good location & beautiful exterior to the building. Some charming original features in the lobby reflecting it's heritage, like an old post box. Terrible amateur attempt at renovating it's interior made our bedroom feel cheap and charmless. Walls painted an uneven white & over the edges of skirting and light switches. Cheap carpet. One power outlet did not work. Cheap linoleum and fittings in the bathroom. Shower head held up with a cable tie, which was both ugly & meant the height could not be adjusted. The wardrobe had no back and would lean as a result.
The interiors of the hotel are not befitting it's history or potential. It's a shame, but it's neither functional nor characterful. We were very disappointed.
We cannot comment on the restaurant downstairs. It looked similarly without charm & as only one table was occupied, it was without atmosphere. We walked down the street into town to a busier place.
Not worth the price.
- debra (10/5): - Excellent stay , nothing to much trouble, staff very friendly nice that had a restaurant on site, slept so well, location Excellent
- Catrin (7/5): - Convenient location. Room was clean and warm. Good supply of tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits in the room. There wasn't any room to park when we arrived. A staff member moved their car in order for us to park. It's an old building, the floors are very squeaky and rooms not very soundproof. If you're a light sleeper then this could be a problem.

- Katherine (7/5): We stayed here for 5 nights as was an excellent base for exploring wales - It was quiet the breakfast was good The bedrooms could do with a update
- John (5/5): -
- leighton (10/5): - Close to everything and very convenient for our walk up snowdon( watkins path) 2min drive away All good
- Nuria (6/5): -
- Williams (2/5): - Very poor the only time we seen anyone was when we checked in,Very poor reception won't be staying there again. Fumes from central heating boiler entering our bedroom at the rear of hotel .
- David (8/5): Would go back - Good food, excellent staff No food available Monday, not good for an hotel, plus didn't meet the advertised opening times at lunchtime
- Willie (9/5): - breakfast dinner
- Amelia (8/5): - Good Location, polite staff, good breakfast. Only negative thing was the hotel was cold.. Room was alright
- Robert (7/5): - The hotel is a little tired. But the location the price and the staff were great and the bed was comfy. Perfect for a one night stay to walk through Snowdon
- Jonathan (6/5): Hotel very tired, small room. Excellent location. - Fantastic location for Beddgelert. Hotel appears very tired , in need of some tlc. Very small room , unable to keep window open and room very hot, luckily a fan had been supplied and was needed all night. No extractor fan in bathroom , so very steamed up !
- Sophie (10/5): Wonderful stay, perfect location, friendly and helpful staff - Perfect location in the beautiful Beddgelert. Staff were friendly and attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was generous with a variety of cooked items on offer. We also had dinner there a couple of times during the week. Very happy with everything.
- Victoria (7/5): - Set in a beautiful location. Full of history. It's a bit tired looking. Looking down from the stair case, a door is permanently propped open where you can see a room that is full of old chest freezers etc. Ruins the esthetic and feeling of grandeur. Table tops were very sticky in dining area, which really effected the experience. Room was clean, but sockets not working and two of the beds very soft and feel old. Extraction fan not working in bathroom so very misty when showing and signs of damp damage ( mold on ceiling). Overall, just not worth the amount of money it cost.
- Lynfa (8/5): -
- Daisy (8/5): -
- Naomi (6/5): -
- PHARSIT (8/5): -
- Susan (5/5): Could have been better - Breakfast poor ok on first day but second day no bacon, mushrooms, butter, pastries unavailable
Room was big and clean but sink impossible to use as too small and had a shelf above it making it very difficult to get your head over the sink
Dinner not available As above plus never anyone on reception if you had a problem and check out impossible so just left room key on desk.
- Daniel (7/5): - Such a cute hotel and the staff go above and beyond
- Karen (7/5): -
- Pawel (10/5): -
- Sian (10/5): An amazing stay - Our stay was perfect, the staff are amazing & so helpful. The hotel is comfortable & has everything needed. The. Village is stunning & picture perfect. We can’t wait to return.
- robin (5/5): - Stayed over xmas and the bar/ dining area were really nicely decorated.
Staff very friendly and food excellent. Ghe room was very, very, cold...not enough bedding and only two small electic heaters that werd very poor.
I was so cold I could not sleep and ended up sleeping in my car in the car park with my heater on !
- scott (3/5): Lovely chap at breakfast. Very nice guy. Shame nothing available after 8pm. We had no dinner........ - There was no heating in the room and I was freezing cold. The very nice guy at breakfast explained there was works going on and so I had to have the room with no heating. I later spoke to a local taxi driver who used to run the hotel and he said the whole heating system and the boiler is old, broken and useless.....................! No heating!
- Janet (8/5): - It was convenient Would have liked the staff to be more visible and on hand
- Gareth (8/5): -
- Mark (8/5): Great value and ideally situated hotel for a walking break - Good value - nice rooms Decor is a tired and bit shabby
- Leigh (3/5): - Location It was run down
- Tom (7/5): Nice - Great location great staff great history great food Quite expensive for a somewhat normal room
- Liza (5/5): Very expensive for the condition of the hotel - Our room and bathroom were clean and tidy. Bed was very comfortable. Dinner and Breakfast were also ok general decor was dated and lounge dining area not very welcoming. Radiator in room was not on and it was a bit chilly. We had the towel rail on in the bathroom
- Laura (4/5): - Disappointing for £103 per night. The rooms were different from the photos and there was a strong smell of cigarette smoke throughout floors two and three.
The switch over tap for the bath wouldn’t work so only able to shower. Ironing board was missing a cover just bare metal. The hotel looks like it could do with updating.
- Joanne (1/5): - Nothing about the Hotel at all. The fact that its in Beddgelert which is gorgeous is its only positive. The condition of the whole building. The smell of damp and foist. The cobwebs in the room. There was only ever one member of staff covering everything so he was never in reception.
- Alexander (7/5): - Lovely clean spacious bedroom, comfortable large king size bed. Breakfasts need working on.
- Sean (9/5): -
- Joanne (6/5): - The hotel is in a lovely village it is a little tired and we had phoned up and asked for the beds to be pushed together. This was not done and the shower wet the bathroom floor due to the angle it was fitted at. Also the room was not made up after the first night and we were not asked if we wanted it doing
- Zach (10/5): - Clean comfortable great location
- Mark (10/5): -
- Dave (8/5): - Great location. Staff were great and quickly sorted out a minor problem with one of our rooms. Comfy bed and a good shower in our room. Great base to walk from. Good breakfast. Nothing
- karen (3/5): Ok , clean but needs bit of upgrading , no handle on bathroom door , drain wasn’t working very well in shower, hair drye - Location Restaurant closed !!!! We were not told this when we booked !!! So we had no food on our nights stay !!! Very bad
- Aalin (8/5): one stormy nights stay. warm and comfortable inside - friendliness of all staff
evening meal and breakfast good and good value for money Bar closed at 9pm and latest booking for meal 7:30 pm
- Jakub (7/5): -
- Jamie (2/5): Poor - Location, everything else is poor shower didn't work, no one in reception on arrival so spent ages trying to find someone after a 5 hour drive. Couldn't move our room as they were full. Obviously don't care much about the hotel
- Michael (8/5): - Nice comfy bed. Cosy and spacious room. When we arrived there was no one in reception. We had to wait a while until staff turned up. Restaurant and bar was closed apparently because the hotel was quite empty
- Gail (5/5): Slightly disappointing - The hotel was convenient for walking the Cambrian way which is what were were doing. The staff were friendly and efficient. The breakfast had a good selection of items. For the price point, the room was basic compared to other local hotels i have stayed in, considering its a double room, there was only one bed side stand with light, a small table with coffee making facilities and one shabby arm chair, nowhere even to put the cushions from the bed or bedspread, we ended up putting them under the bed. The room felt like it was mid refurbishment - window frames had been painted but the paint on the glass not scraped off. There was no where to put clothes (two hangers in the corner of the room) or toiletries or even a desk if you wanted to work, had to live out of our travel bags. While it looked clean the room smelt strongly of dogs. The cooked breakfast had sausages (pink in the middle) and bacon that were undercooked.
- Deborah (10/5): - The staff was very friendly and took care of all of our needs. Location is great, the town is conveniently located to explore the mountains, the coast, and the castles. There are many dining and shopping options within walking distance and it's not too busy.
- Allan (10/5): A little Welsh Gem - Clean room with ensuite facilities. Friendly staff at hotel. Good choice for breakfast (full Welsh+options). Excelent meals otherwise - good potions of all meals taken which were piping hot and freshly made - impressed! A bit out of the way but worth the effort.
- liz (10/5): Wonderful peaceful stay. Can’t wait to return next year to see how far the restoration has developed. - I think it’s being restored and modernised. It’s on its way and beautifully sympathetic to its era.
Food and atmosphere were amazing. Pillows were hard.
- DeanoGilli (9/5): -
- Stanley (9/5): - Good Nothing
- Hefin (6/5): -
- Amit (10/5): - Great location! Good food options even at the hotel restaurant.
Some noise from the traffic on the main road, but not much.
- Lees (5/5): Nice location, bit dated. - Village is very beautiful. Internet speed very good. 2 pillows anc good mattress better than most hotels. Extractor fan in bath room didn't work and View out of window. Also random camera on window sill of opposite building pointing to hotel.
- Michael (6/5): Nearly but not - The area was amazing, plenty of local walks, plenty of local pubs and hotels for food and drink. The staff were very friendly and the food was lovely especially the breakfast. But it just didn't hit the spot, if you know what I mean. We booked a king size room, but it seemed standard to us, nothing like the picture on booking.com.
Nowhere to relax, just a hard back chair. TV was old and basic, not that you go away to watch TV, but in the evening before bed it would have been nice to sit somewhere and catch up. Internet said it was good, but, it was slow in the room and none existent in the restaurant.
For a business trip, it was not the best, but if getting off the grid is what you want then it was good.
- Paul (10/5): -
- Eric (5/5): -
- Tony (8/5): -
- Julie (1/5): Never again! - The location is great The rooms and furnishings are tired old dirty scruffy looking
£640 for 3 nights
Everything is old
It looked like a second hand furniture store
The lift broke which for us wasn’t an issue but some older less for people were on the floor above
Breakfast was low key
Defrosted bread
Cheap mini croissants is isn’t what I’d call continental
The bathroom was tired looking
I slipped getting out of the high sided bath
The sofa in the room needed throwing out of the window and the mattress caved in just looking at it
- JAKBANJONG (9/5): Good location, close to center, nice breakfast and dinner - Location Nil
- Roy (9/5): I love the old Goat.great location, decent eating places nearby. - Location. No cleaning of room on Sunday.
- Philip (8/5): - Really clean and comfortable, large room.excellent staff. N/a
- Radford (6/5): -
- Eve1996 (4/5): - The staff was lovely, the location is great, breakfast was nice enough There was hair in our bed, bathroom was leaking, it smelled damp in the reception area, it didn’t really look as nice as the photos

- Stefano (7/5): -
- David (10/5): -
- Alice (8/5): -
- Emma (7/5): Goede locatie, slecht management - Locatie in Beddgelert, wandelen vanuit hotel . Ruime kamer, comfortabel, groot- echt kingsize - bed.
Parkeergelegenheid
Personeel is heel vriendelijk.
- David (8/5): -
- Bekaert (7/5): -
- STUART (8/5): Loved our stay , would stay there again - Excellent location for Snowdon and Portmeirion, Baddgelert is a beautiful village to stay in , hotel was clean and comfy, with plenty of tea and coffee and biscuits replenished every day This is not a dislike exactly but some areas of the hotel are a little dated , but you pay your money and you take your choice , value for money is great
- Nigel (8/5): -
- Alison (8/5): - It is an ideal location for a weekend trip to Snowdonia! Very close to the bus stop which takes you to the start of the most popular routes up. Great breakfast and comfy beds.
It is an old hotel, but a great place to base yourself in comfort for a busy weekend exploring. Free parking and lots of local places to eat aswell as the hotel!
- Magdalena (8/5): -
