• kelabez (10/5): The absolute best hotel in Mwanza City - We always choose this hotel whenever we stay in Mwanza, and it never disappoints. In our opinion, it is without a doubt the absolute best hotel in Mwanza city. The entire property is very clean, and the rooms are lovely with very comfortable beds and air conditioning. One of the highlights is the wonderful view of Lake Victoria, which you can enjoy both from the room and the restaurant. Speaking of the restaurant, the food is excellent and dining there with a view of the lake is always a great experience. The staff are very accommodating and helpful throughout every stay. We also appreciate the facilities; the swimming pool is clean and they now also have a brand new padel court. If you are visiting Mwanza, this is definitely the place to stay! Highly recommended.

I was little skeptical because our first choice looked better online. When we arrived we knew that we had made an excellent choice. The front desk attendant was friendly and welcoming. The grounds are beautiful! We loved our spacious, authentically situated room. The beautiful view of Lake Victoria from both our room and the outdoor dining area was perfect. The food and service was amazing!

• Zaharat (7/5): A relaxing stay with great service, though the bathrooms need an update. - I loved how quiet and safe the hotel felt—surrounded by beautiful nature, it was the perfect place to unwind. The breakfast room service was a highlight: delicious, fresh, and delivered right on time. The staff were friendly and attentive throughout our stay. My family especially enjoyed the clean, relaxing pool. Overall, a peaceful and memorable getaway. While the stay was mostly enjoyable, the bathrooms were a letdown. They felt outdated, and the water pressure was frustratingly low—I had to take cold showers twice. A renovation is definitely needed to match the quality of the rest of the hotel.

• bundybear56 (10/5): The perfect pick for an overnighter! - Just stayed for 1 night before catching my flight to Dar es Salaam and then onto Australia. There are so many things about Ryan’s Bay that make it my first choice in Mwanza. The staff are so kind and attentive, always asking if I need anything. The rates are reasonable, the room was very clean with an exceptionally comfy bed and an awesome shower (the 2 big ticks when I’m staying somewhere), the view of Lake Victoria overlooking the pool is super relaxing. No the food!! Last night I others roasted chicken in cashew curry sauce. It was awesome, a flavour I had never tried but I loved it and will definitely have it again when I return. Thank you to all the staff, really impressed again. I even got a sticker for their very own Safari tour company. Thank you all and see you again.

• Marc (7/5): - Het is een centraal gelegen hotel. kamers zijn groot en ruim opgezet. kamers waren schoon. beden waren goed Ontbijt is een beetje simpel. ligt dicht bij een industrieterrein. internet werkt niet heel goed en was lastig te krijgen.
• Grahame (8/5): Very good location worth booking - Clean and airy, rooms are nice and cleaned daily. In general the staff were polite, friendly and willing to help, there were exceptions but that can be anywhere and not a slur on the hotel itself. Nice swimming pool The food could have been better, I found it mediocre, OK and edible but nothing to write home about. Breakfast was good as were the curries in the evening.

Ruth at the front desk assisted me in getting my luggage bag sewn together at a very reasoble price after it was torn by the airline. Dining room staff was wonderful. Cleaning and groundskeeping staff were also wonderful! Restaurant meals as well as the buffet breakfast were great!
• Jody (10/5): - I stayed here while volunteering at Bugando Medical Center. The hotel is very conveniently located close to the hospital. The rooms are spacious and clean with nice cool a/c. The beds are hard. Every staff member we interacted with was kind and helpful. The food at the restaurant was very good - the breakfast was the same every day so got a little old but was tasty and filled us up for long workdays.

• Pioneer20903467754 (4/5): Way too expensive for what it is. - Very unfriendly. The waitress was the worst I ever experienced. The food is quite good but way too expensive for what it is. The chapati was almost 2 centimeters thick. A lot of charisma and expensive for what it all is. I was here part-time on business to see what Mwanza has to offer for international tourism, but if I go by this I can say that they are not ready for it yet. It's a shame how 1 unmotivated rude waitress ruins the atmosphere in this hotel.
• Travelworm_India (10/5): An excellent hotel! - Very beautiful & utilitarian room! The view of Lake Victoria from the spacious room is super. Nice furnishings. There was the much needed hot water for a refreshing shower. Very courteous staff in the hotel & at the restaurant too. Had a good night's sleep after a tiresome flight. The 4 - poster canopy bed was very cozy. At breakfast, the chef was kind enough to prepare hot aloo parathas & served them with curd & pickle - in line with my spouse's food requirements. It was unfortunate that we did not have much time to stay at this hotel for a longer time. Next time when you're in Mwanza, this is the hotel to stay.

Despite Mwanza being overly busy, and a major infrastructure site right behind the hotel (I understand it is NOT the hotel's fault), staff was above par in every way. Rooms were clean, comfortable, spacious and restful (once the work stopped each night).

The choices at the breakfast buffet are pretty varied and the restaurant has great options. The indian food is excellent! The staff is friendly and helped me book a taxi to the airport. Currently there is some construction next door so it can be noisy at times.

Needs update as it is rather easy to release extremely hot water and burn yourself in the shower. Aesthetically aged hence need a slight refurbishment. And rooms need irons. Morning breakfast need improving as the options as too bland.

The room accommodations were beyond my expectations and food at the restaurant was always freshly prepared and tasty. We also utilized their in house Fortes Safari service and with their experienced guides we were able to view the Big Five. The trip through the Serengeti Park and Ngorongoro Crater was very special and beautiful. If this is your once in a lifetime dream trip don’t miss out on this expertly run hotel and safari tour company.

We were so fortunate as they have their own Safari company and was able to arrange the entire trip! We were met with smiling faces from the staff who spoiled us the entire time! We ate almost all our meals at Ryan’s Bay and the food was amazing! The staff and owners are extremely nice and helpful! I highly recommend this resort if you’re coming to Mwanza!

The location and grounds are amazing and of course the breathtaking views of the water... By far this place has got the best food in Mwanza with an amazing view of the lake.. Ryan's Bay knows how to treat guests like family. The safari was everything we could have wanted. The guides knew where to take us to see and photograph “The Big Five” plus more and the safari accommodations were wonderful.

The hotel feels safe and was quiet and peaceful. Rooms spacious. The pool looked inviting but didn’t have chance to use it.
• LanaBananasAdventure (10/5): Amazing start to my first trip to Tanzania! - This hotel was such a delight! The staff were very kind, it was clean and our room exceeded my expectations! I was astounded at the size of of our bathroom, complete with a jacuzzi tub! The bed was very clean and we had a wonderful view of both the pool and lake Mwanza from our large patio. I loved waking up in the soft, white bedding with the beautiful light streaming in through the windows. I forgot an SD card reader at home and when I asked the staff to recommend a place for me to go find one, they went out of my way and went and found me one! It was above and beyond what I had hoped for. We ate a few meals at the hotel and I highly recommend both their fish and chips as well as the chicken strips! So good! Plus, the pita bread was so delicious! We booked our Serengeti safari through the hotel (Fortes Safaris) and they provided us with a delicious boxed lunch. I was especially fond of the croquettes!! Yum!! Our driver was so kind and kept us safe on our adventures. When we got our first glimpse of a lion, it felt like he was as excited as we were! We were so lucky to even see a pride of lions hunting a herd of wildebeest. Our driver worked hard to help us see everything we had hoped for - lions, elephants, zebra, crocodiles, hippos, giraffes, a cheetah and even a leopard! There is no doubt in my mind that the next time I visit Mwanza, Ryan's Bay is the place I'll be staying!
• mozzie2015 (8/5): Business visit to Mwanza - Ryans Cove Hotel is a gem situated overlooking the bay on Lake Victoria. The comfortable rooms have a balcony that overlooks the bay and surrounding area. The food at the restaurant was quite good with an exceptional dining experience on the terrace overlooking the bay which gave good views in the morning and then again in the evening. Staff were friendly and eager to assist with any query or problem. The Duty Manager was always available and mingled with the guests in the evening. When ordering starters, do try the Chefs' Secret Vegetable Bombs, very tasty and mildly spicy. Friday nights get a bit of noise from the neighboring back packers but stop punctually at 00H00.

One of our friends forgot her camera chip reader and the manager was very kind and took take care of buying one for us for a very cheap price we didn’t even have to ask he just offered. The food and drinks were great- highly recommend the naans! The hotel even arranged for a boat cruise/ fishing adventure on lake Victoria as well as a tour of mwanza town. We were very pleased with the service. We even booked our safari into Serengeti with the hotel company fortes safaris and we had a great driver- awesome lunch box, fantastic cooler full of cold beverages. Would def recommend the beef samosas and beef fritters. They were great on the safari. Over all we really enjoyed our stay at Ryan’s bay- it was great value for money and we had excellent service! Highly recommend for anyone looking to see Lake Victoria and the Serengeti.
• Fstate (4/5): DOES FIRST IMPRESSIONS COUNT - I just arrived on my first trip to Mwanza. The first of many. After a internet search and a few referals I decided on Ryan's Bay. I think I made a mistake.......The room is a good size but looks old with curtains that cannot even close. As I teavelled through the night I decided to go and have breakfast......How do I describe it? Poor, Horrible.... The question is? Is this the best Mwanza, Tanzania can offer? May this week pass quick as I will not be back.
• rjorn (8/5): Very good, can be noisy at evening / night because of neighboring bar - The reception is very friendly, staff is super! The rooms are spacious, but they can leave the toilet cleaning balls away since they smell too much. We were unlucky to have two weddings in the place next door which lasted until 01:30 but it’s not something to hold the staff accountable for. The lunch and dinner are excellent, breakfast is aligned with what one can expect in Tanzania. Do visit the small shops outside the gate, prices are good and people deserve your support.
• Farhadmawani (10/5): Great two days in Ryan’s Bay - Lovely staff and environment. Would book again. Thank you to the manager and Anna the reservations manager to help through our stay. Rooms were clean and well proportioned. Didn’t really eat much so can’t comment on the breakfast.
• 658breenap (2/5): DISAPPOINTING PACKED LUNCH BOXES AND CUSTOMER SERVICE - For Safari Packages which start in Mwanza, we tour operators normally book our packed lunch boxes 1 day prior to the safari start date from hotels in Mwanza. My driver arrived Mwanza on 14th April 2022 and booked 5 Indian style food packed lunch boxes from Ryans Bay Hotel in Mwanza, which were to be picked on 15th April 2022 morning before starting the Safari. However when he arrived the next day at Ryans Bay, he found that the lunch boxes were not yet even prepared and he had to wait whilst they started preparing the same, so as soon as he received the packed lunch boxes he took them and left to pick the safari clients since the hotel had already delayed him and made him late. Upon arrival in Serengeti and presenting the lunch boxes (worth 15$ each) to the clients, it was very disappointing and the clients were shocked to find only 1 small sandwich, 3 over ripe looking bananas, 1 small piece of cake and a boxed juice and water bottle. Nothing Indian style in the box at all. They complained to us and straight away we apologized and refunded our clients back for the same and they were happy and the matter was closed. However the issues came when taking this up with the hotel management. Despite them issuing us a credit note refund for the same, the owner Yvonne first accused us of lying that our driver requested indian style food in the boxes, then she accused us of personally not liking the lunch boxes (not the clients) and then when we explained that we would have not taken this up based on our own personal preferences and that its unprofessional of her to even state something like that and make it personal, Yvonne (the owner) went to the extent of even telling us to "Grow up". If the owner herself doesn't know customer service and how to speak to a client can we expect any better from the staff there? Very disappointing and we surely will not be working with this hotel going forward.
• Bahati (8/5): - It was very friendly and the staff were very nice and accommodating. It was a very 'green' location and the swimming pool was magnificent. The rooms were spacious and clean. The breakfast was big (or small depending on your choice) and good but the dining options (and wining) were limited.

• mrshepob (8/5): Good hotel and restaurant close to town. - Ryan’s Bay hotel offers good sized air conditioned rooms well fitted out to typical international hotel room layout with patio doors and balconies giving a view of Lake Victoria. The beds are large and comfortable with mosquito nets provided. The rooms are serviced daily and kept spotlessly clean. There is a pool and a separate restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. The food is very good with a large selection of dishes available throughout the day. Breakfast includes a good selection fruit and cereals, and depending on guest numbers either a buffet or table service of cooked options. The management and staff are friendly and helpful, and we have thoroughly enjoyed our several visits to Ryan’s Bay hotel.

• Johanna (10/5): Overall Good Stay - Was attending a conference in the area. Convenient location. Transportation was waiting at the airport as scheduled and check in was quick and easy. The room had a comfortable bed and included a balcony with a very nice view of the pool, the bay, and the sunset. Enjoyed the pool. Only had breakfast one morning, but it was good. Had dinner in the restaurant 3 nights and it was great each time. Very good service in the restaurant and the food was delicious. Prices seemed very reasonable. Enjoyed the pool each day after work. Staff were friendly, helpful and professional. Transportation to and from the conference was easily arranged with a taxi driver and we were able to charge the costs to the room which made it a lot easier. Lovely landscaping, plants, and art work on the property. It is an older property and not a 5 star resort, but was a great value for the cost. Hot shower with good water pressure. Internet is slow, but that seems to be the case most places in the area from what I can tell. Internet is poor even at the high end places as well in this area. Was able to work from the room, but had to wait on things to load up, etc..Perhaps I am a bit spoiled and too accustomed to good fast wifi. There are local artists and vendors just outside the entrance and I was able to get some a few gifts for people back home by just walking out to the front. Is not a big place and definitely has a family friendly feel to it. I felt welcomed and comfortable there.
• John (10/5): Ryan's Bay Rocks - The Lake Victoria view from the restaurant deck is so beautiful. The staff is super friendly and nice. I am amazed at how clean the staff keep it. My room was mopped fresh and clean each day. The breakfast was not to my liking. I am not a fan of certain foods which are more popular here. My major complaint was that my bed had an area that was uncomfortable but sleeping at an angle made up for it. Overall, a grand hotel.
