- Richard (8/5): - We chose the Greatt Hotel for its location - 1 block from the Shilin Night Market (one of the best in Asia) and close to the Shilin train station - straight shot to CKS Memorial and convenient 15-minute bus to National Palace Museum. It is a bit spartan, but the rooms are clean and the bathroom was great. Reception was very nice and useful but did not speak English - the use of Google Translate solved all problems. I definitely recommend this hotel.

- James (4/5): - The room I stayed was on the second floor, street side (aka city view). The room is very clean and everything works well. However, the traffic noise is TERRIBLE. I asked for a different room after the first night and was told they are fully booked and suggested me to use the supplied ear plugs. The building situated in a narrow alley and the noise from motorcycles and buses echos, very pronounced and persistent, day and night! Highly recommend not to get a room on the street side!
- Christy (8/5): Very good - The room was spacious and clean, with plenty of storage and counter space to unpack and get comfortable (including nightstands with charging outlets on both sides of the bed). Bathroom facilities were also fantastic including great lighting and a bidet toilet. We were able to store our bicycles in the room without any issues. All of the hotel staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Bonus was also having access to a coin-operated washer and dryer with detergent provided. The rooms are not soundproof. We were aware of this already from previous reviews, and I was a little concerned as a light sleeper. Thankfully, it's on a fairly quiet street. We could hear people arriving to their room across the hall but no sounds once they were in their room.

- NESRINE (6/5): For one night, not more - I stayed in another hotel less expensive in Zhongzheng area which was more convenient, the room was cleaned even if you leave it late (after 11am). Here, the receptionist open the hotel door. your card room doesn't allow you to enter the hotel, only switch the light from what I saw. There's apparently a self service Landry that I couldn't see as my card didn't allow me to open the door, to be honest I didn't ask why cause I saw meat or idk how to describe it in every corner of the stairs that takes you until the 6th floor. Finally the room, only the bthroom worth the price. The walls of the room I was given were dirty and not cleaned. Shilin district is nice, the night market is at just 2min by walk and it's a popular area that can offer many places to visit.

The staff were cooperative, pleasant and receptionists could speak some English. It’s located in an old neighborhood with small store-front stores businesses and restaurants, a couple of blocks from the metro and 15-minutes taxi ride to the National Palace Museum.

The first night it was fine but the second and third night a very strong smell of cigarettes were seeping through our Aircon, someone was smoking near the ventilation/in the building and it's lingering in the room from 10pm-2am. Our next door neighbour even asked us if it was us who were smoking as he was affected as well. He complained to the receptionist downstairs and they said there's nothing they can do. It felt like I was in a pub drowning in second hand smoke and couldn't sleep well. - the mosquitos. We had over 10 bites between us the first night we stayed there.
