Guest Reviews
- Rosy (8/5): Very comfortable great food - Comfy bed nice room excellent breakfast with great vegetarian options There was no iron
- Lewis (10/5): Perfect. - I booked this hotel for somewhere to stay for a work trip. When travelling all day and a full on day at work, having somewhere to relax is important. The Old Farm offered this 110%. On arrival I was greeted by the manager who was professional and kind, who advised me everything I needed to know. The room was beautiful with modern features, outstanding and comfortable bed, tea and coffee facilities and a well presented bathroom. After the nights sleep, I went for breakfast where I was greeted by a lovely lady who took my order and was brought to me very quickly. The food was delicious. I cannot recognise or recommend this place enough. 10/10!! Everything was to standard. I do not have any complaints. Everything was perfect.
- Claire (7/5): -
- Tina (5/5): Nice location, nice building. Very basic, not cheap and room not cheerful. - The staff were friendly. The key and pass code for entry made it feel safe. The hotel was very convenient to Stirchley the area we were visiting. The reception and dining area have been refurbished and are very nicely decorated. The hot breakfast was cooked perfectly. Bed was comfortable. Our room was a “standard double”, the room was tiny for £100 per night, the bed was against the wall, so have to climb over the other person to go the toilet. No space for bedside cupboards, no sockets and lamps by the bed. Only one double socket by dressing table. No storage space, just a cupboard space with a rail. Small tatty headboard attached to the wall. The en-suite was dirty, tiles/silicone mouldy, black mould falling out the shower hose, dangerous raised floor tiles, bathroom in desperate need of replacement. Minimal beverage tray, 3 teabags, 3 coffees, 4 milk portions and no water for 2 people. The “4 options” for breakfast was really odd, not standard practice of helping yourself to cold food like cereal, yoghurts, fruit and juice before you order your main hot breakfast, basically you can have one or the other but can’t have both. The breakfast was very basic and like a child’s meal, 1 sausage,1 Bacon,1 egg, pot of beans, tomatoe and slice of toast. No jam/ marmalade. Tea was Luke warm, coffee wasn’t very nice either.
- Leah (8/5): - Location close to Train Station and Birmingham University. Breakfast included is a nice touch. The parking is very cramped, especially if you have a larger/ longer vehicle
- Collard (8/5): Lovely quite stay - Beautiful house and the room was just right for being able to visit my kids and grandchildren who live just up the road. Very quiet and lovely breakfast. Waiting staff lovely. Only saw a member of staff on reception once. Which as a single guest I was a little worried about
- Christopher (10/5): Beautiful Old Hotel in a Charming Unspoilt Area of Brum - Lovely green area of Birmingham and felt very safe. Five minutes from train station to city centre which only takes thirteen minutes into New St and across the road from Cadbury World. Amazing staff and set up a table with tablecloth, crockery and cutlery for our chippy takeaway. Loved hearing the church bells go off. Fantastic cleaners and breakfast staff amazing too. Would of been nice to have evening meals served as had a lovely dining room which only served breakfast to guests, but did let us use dining area and staff set up the table which was really appreciated.
- karen (9/5): -
- Ian (9/5): Lovely atmosphere - ask for a refurbished room - Clean
Efficient
Friendly A few of the rooms need updating
One had strange sink arrangements so could t really wash in it.
Maybe get some double glazing on the road-facing rooms? Linden road is busy and noisy
- Kirsty (6/5): - The staff were really friendly, Roast dinner & breakfast were really tasty, room was clean (but basic). Ideal for Cadbury world visit. The road noise & hourly chimes through the night from local cathedral kept us awake most the night, double glazing or enhanced sound proofing desperately needed.
- Ms L (6/5): Hotel in keeping with the historic area and good value for money. - The hotel was as described and was a good base. The staff were helpful and the room was as I expected it to be. I was able to park on site which was really helpful and free. The bathroom was very small and a bit cramped. The reception desk isn't staffed in the morning which made my check out more difficult.
- Fiona (10/5): -
- mark (8/5): - Wonderfully happy, helpful, and friendly staff. Delicious and varied breakfasts. Nice quiet room facing the garden. So good to be able to park on site. Decor was fresh with a super flourish, And having a fridge in the room was a real plus. The addition of a dressing room was a bonus and the shower was lux. Would have liked breakfast a bit later during the week. Would LOVE a bath, though I understand the reasoning. Other than that, everything was good.
- Niroshan (8/5): All Staffs are very good, particularly the nice lady who cooks food is very kind - Staffs Space
- Natalie (4/5): Lovely staff, let down by the lack of facilities in the room. - The breakfast staff were brilliant! Went out of their way to locate a hairdryer for us. Breakfast was lovely too No hairdryer in the room, no kettle in the room. Lots of stairs to get to our room, so be careful if you have large suitcases as the stairs are steep.
- Louise (10/5): Perfect for a visit to Cadbury World - Small double room - en-suite. Both clean and comfortable. Welcoming and friendly receptionist and waitress. Close proximity to Cadbury World. Nothing
- Colin (8/5): - Location was excellent, only 5 minutes walk to our daughter's house. Breakfast was terrific, very helpful & cheerful lady served us. Room was a bit small, but we only slept in it so it didn't matter too much.
- Martin (5/5): - Not much Not worth anywhere near £100 per night
- Katrina (9/5): - The staff were very friendly
- Fiona (8/5): - It was clean and comfortable and had everything needed for a one night stay. Nothing
- Kayley (8/5): -
- Hollie (8/5): Brillant hotel in close vicinity to Cadbury’s World. Perfect for solo travellers wanting a safe stay. - Wonderful location and lovely room - I was given a free upgrade which was a Lovell start to my trip. I was travelling solo (female) and felt entirely safe from the moment I arrived to the moment I left. Staff were super friendly. Room was great. Bed comfy. TV was tricky to use but that would be my only issue and it wasn’t even an issue really. The breakfast was delicious. Highly recommend.
- TRACY (4/5): Expensive for what you get - The room was nice the staff were nice. The breakfast was said to be excellent, it was average at best and the portion was small, you only got 1 piece of toast , that is crazy. The lady on reception did not speak English and did not know where Harvey Nicks was ???? Also they could easily have a vending machine that serves snacks to save you walking to the petrol statin to get snacks from Tesco?
- Oliver (9/5): -
- Joanne (10/5): Perfect two night break - The Old Farm has been renovated since we stayed there in 2025. It looks fabulous. Staff are absolutely lovely. There is a good choice for breakfast.
- Paul (8/5): -
- Richard (3/5): Strange place - Nice ladies serving breakfast Bins outside window, window unable to open, bins connected at 4am!!! Woke us up. Emailed to check we could get an evening meal later, were assured it was ok, arrived earlier but first think reception chat said was they didn't have a restaurant ????
- leslie (8/5): - Interaction with staff
- Angela (9/5): Enjoyable short stay - Location, room, breakfast room. The staff, both on the front desk and at breakfast were extremely helpful and very friendly. Futon looked lovely in the room as a sofa but was not the most comfortable to sleep on.
- Ann Marie (8/5): - Loved how close it was to Cadburys world
Breakfast was lovely the lady serving was very friendly
- Fern (7/5): - Staff were friendly and welcoming and breakfast was generous with options of English and continental. The room was not super clean, there were hairs on the carpet and mould in the shower. But sheets were clean and beds were comfy
- Bardle (10/5): Comfortable stay - Staff are lovely.
Rooms clean and bedding felt lovely.
- Mary (8/5): Such lovely friendly staff, they were very welcoming. -
- Shaw (6/5): - The public areas were newly decorated but our room felt tired, especially the on suite. The on-suite was cold, and in need of decoration.
- Rowena (8/5): Lovely hotel, great value for money & good location - Lovely hotel, breakfast was delicious! Staff member at breakfast was so so lovely & friendly, so we felt very welcome We asked for a fan at the reception desk and had a slightly strange interaction as the staff laughed.
- niall (10/5): - Staff were very nice - a very good stay 💛
- Robert (9/5): -
- Robert (9/5): - Friendly staff, clean & cosy room. Great breakfast. Off road Parking
- Collette (9/5): - Breakfast should be untill maybe 930 -10, sl Room was a bit cold , thought checkiut should be till a bit later .
- Craig (9/5): Very good value for money. - Polite staff. Hotel was very clean. Breakfast was freshly made and of very good quality. Room small which was fine for a night or two. No real dislikes. Ideally be nice if good have an option for an evening meal at hotel with new real restaurants within 10 minute walking distance.
- amit (10/5): Honestly, an absolute beautiful place great value of money and I loved every moment of it - The staff were absolutely friendly and kind and helped me in my queries. I had a lovely food and it was just a great value for money. The only thing you’ve hear a bit of traffic at night but you get used to it but for his location and the benefits top class 100%. Only a bit of traffic at night that’s it really good generally is fine. I want to be more traffic noise from cars passing by but fine.
- Allison (4/5): Not pleasant🤨 - The property is on a main road close to Cadbury. Can’t say much. It was clean. The staff were unhelpful and I had to climb 3 narrow flights of stairs at 66 and a bad knee with no assistance to get to a pokie room that was basic. It was clean though. The person on the front desk was clueless and spoke limited English. Would not recommend unless you are a young mountain goat.
- Clare (5/5): - Breakfast in the restaurant was lovely, staff really friendly.
Room was warm and clean. The room was not only very small but, given the size, badly designed. Little effort to make the best of the space, bed up against the wall....anaglypta on the walls, artex on the ceiling, functional grey fabrics felt grim. Lamp clamped to headboard on the bed felt like an 80's teenagers bedroom , mattress was basic. Curtain pole hanging off (we fixed it), rail in bathroom also hanging by one screw. Felt like a hostel, which would be fine, but not for £100 for a Thursday night in March in Birmingham 🙂
- Deborah (6/5): - Breakfast and Maggie great!
Front of house refurb look great
All very clean but basic, more like a BandB The double room was really small
The length of one side of the bed was against the wall and the door opened to hit the side of he bed.
Really basic room
- Dave (8/5): Excellent location, good value for money, clean and the staff were brilliant. - The location was excellent for Cadburys World The mattress wasn’t to my liking but, everyone’s preferences are different for beds.
- Lisa (8/5): Lovely place to visit & would return - Great location, friendly helpful staff & lovely breakfast. Personal preference bed was too soft for my liking, but could be fine for others.
- Nicholas (10/5): Nice and comfortable and makes a change from chain hotels. - It was like a converted barn in the city and opposite the famous chocolate factory! - with loads of parking too.
It has recently been renovated and was very clean and tidy.
The guy on reception was really polite and helpful. Nothing really not to like.
- Paul (8/5): -
- Io (9/5): -
- Leanne (9/5): A nice place to stay for the night if you need something cheap and cheerful. - A lovely character building in a good location My room was quite small and very warm
- kevin (8/5): The room is run down and needs a complete overhaul and the bathroom is even worse, but the room is warm and the bed is c - The breakfast was nice, the staff were all very good and friendly. The room was warm and the bed was very comfortable. The communal areas are all very nice, but the rooms are very old and run down. The bathroom was very old, with mould in the shower. The shower is next to useless because it is electric and electric showers are always useless, you can barely get wet under them. I was there for 4 nights and they made up the room 2 nights, but never gave me more toilet paper, so I had to buy some. All of my stay they never emptied the bin, so that was overflowing and a big pile next to it. There is big holes in the floor at the bottom of the bed, and the carpet has just been layered over the , which is unbelievable, I have been a builder in the past and that is a easy fix, every time I walked around the bed my foot would fall into the big holes in the floor, which adds to the feeling that the room is very run down and needs a complete renovation.
- Moyly (7/5): Great location, breakfast and friendly staff - The breakfast was really good and the waiting staff in the morning very friendly and approachable. We also liked the location as it was very near to the venue that we were visiting.
The newly renovated bathroom was also really modern, clean and inviting I received a holding charge for the accommodation twice on my bank account which was only cleared after one week which could not be explained by the reception.
The bedroom was very small despite being advertised as a Deluxe King room and we could not find the light switches for the lights over the bedside cabinets.
- Kim (10/5): - Room was spotless, staff friendly and breakfast was good quality
- Daniels (7/5): - Comfortable bed, good traditional breakfast Poor design plumbing for hot and cold water, shower very slow
- Adam (10/5): -
- Gary (8/5): Great location. Good hotel. Staff where excellent and friendly. - Very good for both Didn't think the room warranted a £100 fee as it was so tiny.
- Paul (4/5): Cheap hotel so shouldn’t expect too much, but some of the basics were missing. - The room was cold with an inadequate radiator that was covered by the curtain. Not enough toilet paper and no spare roll. No bedside light or ability to turn off light from the bed. Very poor hot water pressure.
- Nicola (8/5): - Great location for Birmingham Newman University and Cadbury World. Very tasty breakfast and friendly staff. Nicely re-furbished inside and felt homely.
- mike (8/5): -
- Tickle (9/5): -
- Deborah (10/5): Lovely, very clean and comfortable, definitely stay again when in Birmingham. - English breakfast cooked to order, lovely. Huge teapot with three mugs worth of tea in it. Large cups to drink from. Lady in the kitchen very friendly. Garden view as promised. Across the road from Cadbury World. Poor internet and tv but possibly down to storm Claudia
- Julie (9/5): Friendly staff ,clean, felt safe as solo guest - Easy to park , friendly staff, clean, tea and coffee in room,
nice breakfast. Helpful staff member moved me to a different quieter room when I mentioned my room at the front was a bit noisy .
- Robert (8/5): All staff were fantastic a credit to the owners. - A very good mix of staff all very engaging. The hotel is undergoing a refurb so a little bit of disruption, nothing to major though.
- Kellie (8/5): - Breakfast included was great. I thought the cottage was a typical English place which is what I wanted to stay in. Water pressure for the shower.
- Abbie (8/5): - The hotel was perfect for a little weekend getaway! Rooms were clean and spacious and the breakfast was lovely! Staff were so polite and friendly! The only problem was the TV was glitchy and there was little to no channels that we could choose from but really didn’t bother us
- FAROOQ (4/5): Not for me - 1. Excellent breakfast in the morning which made up for the other short comings
2. Hotel staff were always friendly and welcoming
3. Hotel is local shops and takeaways
4. On-site parking 1. The single bed mattress was uncomfortable and worn out- needs replacing.
2. The en-suite shower room was very very tiny, the toilet flush does not work very well!! and lighting in the en-suite shower room is very dim.
3. Did not recieve a Receipt when I left in the morning straightaway but was emailed one and this after I had sent an email reminder to the hotel
4. Hotel is next to a busy road hence road traffic noise can be an issue
- Stephen (8/5): -
- Duncan (8/5): A convenient and friendly hotel. -
- Mccay (1/5): Appalling and not to be repeated - Nothing We actually did not stay in the hotel. On arrival we were disappointed but after viewing the room we decided we were not going to stay. The room was very shabby and the shower was full of mould and generally grubby. We ganded the key back in and left.
- Thomas (5/5): - the finish of the room was not high standard has been recently redone that was clear
- Steve (7/5): Ideal for a short stay - Nice location and room was fine. The breakfast was quite limited.
- Stephen (8/5): Enjoyable stay at old farm hotel - Delicious breakfast cooked to perfection
Maggie is a great cook
- Louise (9/5): - Friendly and helpful staff
Excellent Breakfast Nothing
- Edward (8/5): Good value for money -
- Marco (7/5): Bene ma non benissimo - La posizione La temperatura delle camere
E la colazione
- Greg (10/5): - Nice and clean, friendly staff Nothing
- Paul (9/5): -
- Simon (8/5): B&B in Bournville - We loved the location as we wanted to be near Bournville. The room was clean, if a little snug, and the staff were lovely. Maggie ( in the breakfast room) was a star! The shower was a little weak and the shower head holder was not fully functional. As mentioned above, the room was snug, with the bed JUST fitting in behind the door.
- Peter (10/5): Can't wait for the next one - Everything first class Nothing
- Kayleigh (10/5): Lovely hotel and staff - would stay again! - Lovely rooms, friendly staff and great location for our plans. Go above and beyond for guests and the food was fantastic! Thank you! Nothing.
- Elizabeth (9/5): Good comfortable stay at a very reasonable price. - Breakfast was good, slightly limited over the Christmas period but staff were very pleasant and obliging. Small bedroom, but very comfortable bed. Perfect location for us as family live in Bourneville.
- John (7/5): - Great location, easy access & comfortable bed We arrived and the room was freezing cold. All radiators had been turned off. Took ages to warm up and the heating randomly turned itself off on the second morning. Not ideal with a baby.
Bathroom had a cigarette sub floating in the toilet when we arrived. Had obviously not been properly cleaned
Reception staff didn't seem bothered.
- Lian Marie (6/5): Would not recommend - Location perfect for visiting Bournville and Cadbury world. Close to station. Only advised of Christmas party night two days before arrival. Room immediately above bar and noise awful.
No headboards so pillows kept falling on floor.
Room not big enough to be a triple.
Shower pressure dire.
No butter.
- Jeremy (8/5): Great Location, Friendly Staff. - Breakfast was fine. Plenty to choose from.
- lee (9/5): Excellent place to stay and good location to city centre - Very nice comfortable rooms - on-suite Fab could be issue with parking if busier
- Yvonne (10/5): - The staff were lovely and went out of their way to make sure everything was just right. Breakfast was beautiful and I was looked after well Nothing
- Helen (9/5): Excellent stay would highly recommend - Second stay at Old Farm for our daughter’s masters graduation at Uni of Birmingham, good location near to Bourneville Village. Had booked a double room but on arrival got upgraded to a suite which was unexpected but very welcome. Room was lovely and clean, super comfy bed, good shower and all round excellent facilities. Good breakfast included which was very good with quality ingredients No complaints at all
- Zayn (9/5): Excellent Hospitality! - Fantastic Hotel in Bournville Birmingham. Very Hospitable Staff and very friendly. Make you feel at ease and comfortable , they go out of their way to help and assisst you in any way !!!
- Emily (10/5): Perfect hotel with everything needed for visiting Bournville area & commuting to the city! - The location was perfect for us, with in walking distance to the train station, cadbury world and pubs! The room names we loved and added to the experience of staying in Bournville. Room and bathroom were cosy and warm and the smart tv was a perfect end to a busy day! The breakfast was lovely and delicious however we expected buffet style like other hotels.
- Paul (10/5): OUTSTANDING, - The old Farm Hotel has been refurbished and it is fantastic. The reception is really stylish and welcoming.
The room i stayed in was lovely, clean and stylish. I will definitely be booking this hotel again.
The owners/ staff are so friendly, helpful and polite.
- Yvonne (10/5): - Got there late after leaving my daughter at the hospital the staff were so helpful and kind. There was a party going on so the restaurant was closed. The staff got the chef to come to me he offered to cook me a pizza or do me a sandwich I asked for a sandwich which was brought to me and was beautifully made. They put me in a quiet room and it was so comfortable with everything anyone could need fresh water tea coffee biscuits. After a good night's sleep I got up to a hot shower and then went for breakfast the food was spot on and the staff again were so helpful. I would like to thank everyone for their kindness. I will stay again and it is so close to the hospital and lots of other activities Nothing
- johnston (6/5): Won’t be back - It was convenient Took £50 deposit of me , still waiting for it to be refunded 2 weeks later!! Walls very thin could hear people in next bedroom talking all night, hence no sleep🙁 Had to wait an hour for breakfast as they had run out of items, even though we were down for breakfast at 9
- Michael (9/5): Bit cold around - Only disappointed with no subtled tv
- Nicola (8/5): - Very quiet and great location.
Lovely breakfast.
- Alan (10/5): - The location is great for access to the city and QE hospital.
The hotel owner, manager and staff we very friendly and went above and beyond to make us, feel welcome.
Lots of cafes within walking distance and Cadbury's a two minute walk. We would recommend and will return. We loved everything
- Helen (3/5): Very disappointing for the money. Staff were all very nice but explained about renovation works. - Location For £120 I expect taps on the sink and running cold water to fill the kettle and brush my teeth.
Gap in the window pain.
Very bright green security light in the ceiling that stayed on all night.
I went for continental breakfast. It took 25 minutes to make and it was tiny.
- Black (10/5): -
- Neil (8/5): -
- Penelope (1/5): -
- Trevor (8/5): - Breakfast was very good and the place had a nice "feel". And it's good to know there is this good hotel in this area and on the No. 11 bus route! You could have had cheese and biscuits as an option for dessert in the restaurant!
