• Russell (7/5): A very smart hotel but lacked a welcoming feel for us. - The room and bed was very comfortable. Spacious free car park. Although it may be very good the restaurant was a bit too ‘posh’ for us. Limited choice and expensive. The breakfast was OK but not as good as other cheaper hotels on our 6 stop road trip.

• Einar (8/5): - God frokost, fin beliggenhet, hyggelig betjening. For varmt på rommet. Som miljøfyrtårn bør tempen senkast litt. Gjestene for sove betre og hotellet sparer penger. Dette er desverre en gjenganger på mange hotell så der kan bransjen gjere mykje med å senke temp 2°C.

• Knut (10/5): Et av mine favoritt-hotell - Et av Vestlandets beste hotell! Første gang vi bodde i den historiske delen. Hotellet har skjel, god atmosfære, fantastisk restaurant, god frokost med mye hjemmelaga og lokal mat. Vi valgte å bo i den historiske delen, klart at standarden der er litt etter den nye delen - men ikke minus.

• Penafrancia (5/5): NIce Stay in Sandane - What I liked was the cleanliness and proximity of the hotel to downtown - near restaurants and supermarkets. Breakfast was also good although there were not a lot of choices. The room was also clean. The hotel room was so expensive which does not meet my expectations and the amenities. The room was very bare. It was small without a coffee maker and no air conditioner so I have to open the window for air. The bathroom was small and there is no mini bar. Sandane is a small town and this is by far the best hotel in the place. Perhaps staying in an AirBnB would be a better choice next time.

• JJJC_Family (10/5): Stirling Service - I had high expectations which were surpassed. There were a few problems with the room which normally would have caused me to downgrade my review, but the quick, pleasant, even enthusiastic and extraordinarily competent and effective response by the staff, which is rarely seen these days, just completely won me over. In fact, it made me confident that any problem that might arise should I return to the hotel would be dispatched by these super heroes of service. The television wasn’t connecting to their network. Marta, from the front desk, who had already assisted with bringing the luggage from the parking lot, tried, but could not solve the problem. She had a fantastic young man, Tommy, come up who fixed the problem incredibly fast and even found a way to get us some good movies in English. Finally, their standards for customer satisfaction were so high that Marta, who had come up to help, said without prompting that she would talk to the manager about providing a reduction in rate, which they came through on. I have had absolute horrendous problems, sometimes multiple problems that were never resolved where the staff, including the manager never offered this or more appropriately comped the room. Often times, the staff and manager would make clear they couldn’t care less, sometimes being nasty, to boot, at the very thought that we should complain about the terrible conditions. Thus, we have developed an ironclad mandate for our trips, that hotel quality reigns supreme, as a bad, particularly a very bad experience can ruin precious days and darken our overall mood. Multiple disastrous stays can destroy a trip completely and having had that actually happen, we never want that to happen, again. The room we were assigned to was too small to accommodate our luggage, although, otherwise, fine. Marta, immediately offered an alternative room, 305, in the original vintage mid-1800’s section of the hotel. It was slightly bigger, she said, but not as modern. We found it much bigger and perfect for our luggage, plus it had a great view of the fjord and we loved the old style feel which reeked of genteel charm. The bedding was wonderful. The bathroom was a decent size and configuration with a tub, which unfortunately my wife did not have time to take a long, luxuriant bath, but only a shower. Too bad – she loves that. Breakfast was very, very good. Marta said the selection was limited, but they concentrated on quality. We found the selection was more than adequate and the quality met the standard they set. In fact we ate more than we should have, because we rarely have food that good for breakfast. The breakfast space was, pleasant, even soothing with comfortable seating. In most hotels, mediocre rules the day. For that reason, we never pay any extra for what is usually an overpriced and unsatisfying meal. They had a big parking lot with a handicapped spot. The location, while not on the water, was close enough to get there in a few minutes walking. I highly recommendation a stay here. You will feel at home, better in my case. My highest compliment is that I would return just to stay in a hotel. I would do that here.

I had forgotten my boots at another hotel, and she patiently helped me contact them, explained how to arrange the mailing and payment, and made sure everything was taken care of. This took a lot of her time, yet she remained very patient, warm, and professional. I am truly grateful for her support—it made my trip so much easier and left me with wonderful memories of Norwegian hospitality. The hotel location was good , room was clean, service and food were great, I stayed there twice during my trip. Highly recommended!
