Joao (1/5): Terrible experience! - On Valentine’s Day, I reserved a double room, but when we arrived, we were given a twin room instead. After we raised the issue, Mrs. Úrsula (the owner) approached us with a rude and aggressive attitude and offered only one solution: to cancel the reservation—despite the fact that the room provided was a downgrade from what I had paid for. The poor level of service is incomprehensible. It was a very unpleasant experience—we ended up having to sleep separately, which was truly disappointing.

faye (9/5): After many days of travelling and touring through Portugal and Spain, this was the perfect spot to rest and relax. - It was welcoming and cozy, you felt like you were in someone’s home but also had your own private space. The linens on the bed were lovely and soft too. The room was very nice, but the shower head couldn’t do with a little help. Other than that all was perfect.

Tanto o quarto como a casa de banho são bonitos, bem decorados e espaçosos. O pessoal de serviço foram muito simpáticos e sempre disponíveis para ajudar. Montemolin é uma pequena aldeia castiça, mas não tem restaurantes, só tem pequenos bares que servem refeições ligeiras. Em compensação, a cerca de 13 km existem em Monesterio imensos restaurantes onde comer

Gonzalo (10/5): Finde de tranquilidad y desconexión - Mi pareja y yo pasamos un finde espectacular en una de las habitaciones de esta casa rural. Todo muy limpio, trabajadores atentos y encantadores. Disfrutamos de su piscina en un ambiente super tranquilo. Super recomendable para un finde de desconexión y tranquilidad. El desayuno muy bueno.

Stuart (8/5): Very good - This is a special and different hotel as, perhaps the name suggests. The welcome, despite any difficulty (see Dislikes), was exceptionally friendly. The position is in a small rural town with few facilities, but nonetheless interesting. The garden of the actual hotel is available to relax in and just to visit. Upon arrival one has to telephone or WhatsApp in order to check-in. The owner/ manager then comes to let you in and give you keys. This includes a key to the internal entrance door which is permanently locked. So every time you go out or in the door has to be unlocked and relocked. There is no lift, maybe unsurprising in the circumstances, but the stairs, although straight, are not easy.

Phillip (9/5): Very convenient stop over, excellent food. - Lovely peaceful location with an interesting history. We were travelling from Santander to Malaga so a very convenient and straightforward stop over for our first night. Staff very nice but quite reserved, waitress was friendly though. The €12 evening meal was excellent. Breakfast was also good. Beautiful view of the lake from our room. Staff could have been a little more communicative.

Richard (9/5): A pleasant and friendly oasis at the end of a long day in the saddle or on foot. - I was travelling the Ruta de la Plata (N-630) on my motorbike and Montemolin was at the end of that day's route, so booked into the hotel Casa Rural El Aguila. So glad that I did. I was met and shown around this converted and modernised traditional house by the owner, who lives with his family in a house to the rear and shares a lovely courtyard, garden and swimming pool with the hotel guests. My room was clean, comfortable and well appointed, with good wifi, a Juliet balcony to the street and with views of the Castillo de Montemolin. The hotel provided a cool and comfortable lounge area, outdoor seating under lemon trees and there was an honesty bar with cold drinks. Breakfast in the morning was very good and plentiful. The owner also runs an off-road motorbike school and quad bike hire company and is very motorbike rider guest friendly - highly recommended. Montemolin is a quiet and relatively remote town with few (tourist) amenities or places to eat in the evening.

Rui (7/5): Good - The place was relatively quiet. I was expecting a rural, farm-style house but it is a village building with a small garden (the main door is in what seemed to be one of the main roads of the village, bur the village is very small, so that wasn't a problem). The room was very cold, even with the AC in the max (the extra blankets were very helpful). Actually, the house seemed cold in general, very good for a Summer day, but not for the Winter.
Heidi (10/5): If you had a day of long driving through Spain behind you and need a restorative break stay here! - What a lovely place and what lovely people. We were received with such warmth and told to feel at home. The hotel is beautiful. At breakfast Maria had a little fright as what to do with two vegans. But as soon as she recovered from the surprise of no chicken, no meat, no fish, no eggs, no milk she disappeared into her kitchen and came out with a feast. Thank you for a perfect visit! For those wondering about Carpark. The hotel is in a little very safe village and there is ample free and safe Carpark in front of the hotel! I would love to visit in winter when the lounge’s wood fire is going. It must be super cosy there in the winter… Nothing. Everything was perfect!

The all concept of the house is very nice and works very well, even more all the village people are very nice and welcoming. We recommend bar central (in front of the farmácia) to eat, the montado de lombo made by the lady owner is very nice 😊
Guillermo (2/5): El hotel de las sorpresas (desagradables) - Una vez hecha y pagada la reserva, el alojamiento me indica que hay un sobrecoste por llegar al hotel mas tarde de las 18, que por supuesto no se menciona en las condiciones del hotel, en las que se indica que la recepción del hotel esta abierta hasta las 2 de la madrugada y que solo si se vs a llegar mas tarde se avise y ademas no menciona sobrecoste alguno. Una vez alli, las instalaciones no están habilitadas para personas, no ya con minusvalía, sino con una movilidad un poco limitada. No hay ascensor, escaleras dificiles y sin habitaciones disponibles en planta baja (y solo eramos 2 parejas en todo el hotel) Al habla con el propietario se limita a decir en ambos casos que eso es un problema de la agencia, que no lo explican bien. Si esto es asi, señores de Hoteles.com, apliquense. Y si no es asi, pues tambien, apliquense, porque si la informacion proporcionada es deficiente o incompleta, el sistema pierde credibilidad. En todo caso, el hotel es modesto y alguna cosita debiera ponerse mueva, pero está agradable y es comodo. Lo dicho, mucho ojo al reservar y por mi parte, sin intención de repetir.

A falta de una semana para entrar en el hotel, me envían un WhatsApp anulandome la reserva sin más, diciendo por causas ajenas a su voluntad pedí explicaciones y no se han molestado en contestar.
