Guest Reviews
- Michelle (9/5): - The sitting area/porch was nice. There was coffee in the lobby to use anytime. Nice view. No elevator and we were on the top floor but for us it was not a big deal because we just stayed one night.
- ANCA (10/5): A perfect place to enjoy the sea - The location, the hotel which is an historic one in the region and the hosts The bed was a little uncomfortable but nothing too bad
- Maureen (6/5): It was fine for one night. - There was supposed to be breakfast, but nothing was available when we checked out. Another party we traveled with checked out later and said the same thing, there was no breakfast. Room was very small and air conditioning didn’t work well.
- Stephen (8/5): We came here as a quick getaway from Bethlehem, PA, on May 1st and enjoyed our visit. - We had a King room with a full ocean view which was very nice. The location of the hotel was convenient to local shops and restaurants, The room had almost no furniture (just one night stand) and the closet was super small. The ocean view window was a slider and it was very difficult to open and close.
- Glenn (9/5): -
- Karen (10/5): Friendly, clean place to stay - Price & clean Nothing
- Abdelfatah (5/5): - The stuff was very good, polite, and professional.
The room was cleaned. There was no air conditioner and ceiling fan wasnt working
- Charlene (1/5): Not pleasant. We left a day early. - Location Stains on the carpet, dirty windows, bed, no air conditioning, doors,
- Jody (8/5): We needed a two bed room and the staff went above and beyond to accommodate us. We were very impressed with their hospit - The staff were very helpful and went above and beyond A little outdated
- Paul (10/5): - Everything! There was a wonderful lady at the front desk that went above and beyond to help us settle in.
- M E (8/5): Excellent for a classic Jersey Shore experience - Steller location, classic Jersey shore beach front hotel, 50's - 60's retro feel. Physical room keys, clerk in person at desk, room and linens fresh and clean, full bath, very reasonable rates. Great view of the beach and ocean, and we had a side view room. Room was small but OK for the rate, closet was very small about 8" deep about the depth for a garment bag.
- Walter (10/5): Great location, great food, beautiful view - Beautiful location Room was a little small
- Alejandro (9/5): Nice place, reasonable cost. - Right across Ocean; early CI. The curtains should be darker…
- Наталия (8/5): -
- Brooke (10/5): -
- Peggy (10/5): Very nice and very hospitable - Location Liked it all
- LaTourette (9/5): Loved it! Pretty and quaint; would def go back! - It was quiet, comfortable, and right on the beach! It was just a bit smaller than I thought, but really, perfect for a weekend getaway or an overnight excursion!
- Suzanne (10/5): Old world charm and ocean front equal the perfect place to reset! - Right across the street from the beach.
- Richard (10/5): -
- Rich (9/5): -
- Michael (7/5): Nice stay by the beach - Location by the beach The rooms were stuffy and hot. Glad that we were able to open sliding glass doors for dome fresh air.
- Jack (10/5): Very cozy and clean hotel with exceptional staff and much better than a big chain hotel - Seaview room was comfy and nice retro aesthetic. Entire hotel was very jersey shore old americana vibe. Dining room/lounge was very cozy as well. Furniture in room and hotel feels like a home away from home and good to get work done downstairs. Entire staff very friendly, laid back and professional. Price for seaview king bed room was more than reasonable . Looking forward to coming back in the summer.

- Kevin (8/5): -
- Jenna (8/5): Peaceful - Location! Room was super small byt perfect for the 2 of us
- Bonnie (7/5): It was nice but staying on the top floor was appropriate for us as we were from out of town and had lots of bags to dra - Quiet Very difficult to bring luggage up three flights of stairs .

- Shirley (10/5): Clean and airy! - The building is historic ( built in 1920s) and it is very quaint. The 2 sitting rooms are adorable and are very relaxing. My room was small (probably a former bedroom) but very clean and had a TOP NOTCH ocean view. The bed was comfy and the little fridge, oh! the adorable retro fridge with freezer! I want one even though I have no need for it. The difficulties encountered were more with the on- street parking characteristic of Belmar. The hotel does not have a parking lot...nor could it...so one is on their own for parking. There is no elevator so step climbing is part of the stay--- 2 flights for 1st floor and 4 flights for the 2nd.
Coffee is complimentary BUT each time I asked for 2 Keurig pods ( I like strong coffee) I felt like I was asking for something unheard of. Each day, I had to ask at least twice and was met with a hesitance like I was doing something wrong.
It would be nice to have coffee in the room.

- Peter (5/5): This is a very odd old hotel from the early 1920's. It made for a funny and memorable weekend. - Ocean front room, modern bathroom, coffee in the morning, decent mattress. Steps to rooms are difficult for older people. The comforters on the bed are cheap and generally kind of worn.

- Richard (10/5): - I'm 64 years old and have known of the Mayfair Hotel since I was a little kid. My Uncle Harry owned a bungalow on 18th Ave behind D'Jais bar, but rarely got up that far because the arcade was on 16th and the Mayfair on 10th. I always return to Belmar and always thought that the Mayfair had it's day already, but decided to stay there yesterday, in January, and had the best stay of anywhere I've been lately. Maybe it was nostalgia for a better time, but the Mayfair has transcended it while retaining it. Front row at Belmar, Beautiful Sea. Perfect beach hotel, even in winter. Great offerings on TV, but I never turned it on. My room was super clean and comfortable. I had a side view of the ocean which was better than straight on. The lobby was a tropical wonderland. I headed straight for the beach though. At night. And stayed out there walking or watching the waves and stars until I had enough, which I didn't. Went back to my room, opened the window to hear the sea, and slept like I hadn't since I was 10. Completely in bliss. Best sunset, even better sunrise. There's something wrong with you if you can't have a good stay here. Might take you 60 years to admit it, but it's even sweeter when you surprise yourself. Love The Mayfair!!! That I had to leave after 1 night

- Jason (7/5): -
- Michael (10/5): -
- Guest (7/5): - The location No cable TV, no temperature controls in the room and it was warm. The person at the desk announced my room number 3x out loud while other people were waiting to check in.
- barb (10/5): -
- Samuel (8/5): -
- Robert (10/5): Phenomenal. - Just a great, great place. Great ocean view from my room. Very clean, quiet. The whole staff are just great, wonderful folks.
- Ernest (8/5): -
- George (10/5): - Clean, great view, location. No drawers, or counter top, or shelf at all. 2 chairs a bed ,frig. Night stand. Thats it. Dealt with it, Ill be back. See above.
- Vincent (10/5): - Very very very clean
- Bradley (8/5): Great place photos do not do it justice - Location right on the beach Bed was a bit hard
- Michelle (9/5): Very enjoyable. - The location was great! The room was quaint and had character. The front desk staff was very personable!! The only thing was no elevator. Carrying luggage up/down stairs was a little challenging.
- Christina (10/5): -
- Nino (8/5): -
- Jeff (10/5): Comfortable hotel in a perfect location - We had a comfortable room with a great view of the ocean. The building is old but our room was clean and comfortable. Our stay was quiet, and the staff were all unfailingly friendly and helpful. And the location couldn't be better, it's just steps from the beach. N/A
- Navarro (10/5): -
- Andre (10/5): Lovely Stay - Location and view ... the room set up was really nice too
- Krachelle (10/5): Perfect beach spot! - Everything! Staff was friendly. Location was perfect. Room was clean and comfortable. View was exceptional! 3 flights of stairs but I understood it was worth the view. Wish there had been a breakfast, they had the space for it downstairs.

- 969mariak (2/5): At Least We Got Some Laughs Out of It! - You know how the worst things make the best stories after a trip. That would be the Mayfair hotel. Where to start - the bathtub and shower next to the bed? The ocean view that you couldn't see out the windows cause they were so old and dirty. The windows wouldn't open. The toilet in a room the size of a broom closet. I could go on. We were only there one night - had to find street parking (not difficult, but annoying). It really needs major rehab to bring it up to somewhere I would stay again. I will say it was fairly clean, and that's about all the good I can say about it.
- Augustus Cochran (10/5): A classic beachfront hotel, very comfortable and a good value. - Mayfair is a lovely, classic order hotel, right on the beach. The staff were helpful and friendly - really willing to make our stay pleasant. The room was nice, very comfortable, cute. The beach in front of the hotel is beautiful. There are good restaurants close by. Access is easy, and the neighborhoods nearby are just peaceful, quiet, verdant, well-cared-for, and understated. Nothing - liked our stay.
- Shaya (10/5): - Eileen was wonderful
- Tracy (4/5): - The staff was friendly, and the room was clean. In the off-season, the on-street parking was easy, but I doubt that's the case during the summer.
Unfortunately, the heater was left off until we asked at the front desk (because there's no phone) that it be turned on. Then it went full blast, so we actually needed to open the window overnight to cool the room to a bearable temperature. There's no thermostat in the room.
The bed seemed flimsy and creaky, and the mattress was thin, old, and uneven.
Also, our ocean-view room did have a clear view of the ocean out its (ordinary) window. However, the room was not set up to look out the window, so watching the waves required sitting up on the bed without support.
We knew about the lack of an elevator, but visitors should know that it's a steep climb up the stairs.
- Charlene (9/5): Very nice, Thankyou - Great location
Affordable
Clean
Ailyn was so helpful and friendly. I incurred some problems on arrival and she helped me resolve them. Thx to her !!
Doug and Chris , very nice and helpful Thankyou Need a little bucket elevator, stairs too much for some people.
Keurig in room would be better
- Stephen (8/5): - No shopping ....good view
- Dale (10/5): Modest accommodations. No elevator, but Ilike it - Nostalgic, childhood memories, the beach view 2 people - Should leave 2 full sets of towels. (Ie 2 hand towels)
- Patrick (8/5): Nostalgischer Aufenthalt - Schönes Haus mit Meerblick, sauber, nettes Personal, Kaffee inbegriffen Kleine Zimmer, auf der einen Seite des Betts kein Nachttisch oder Ablage, kein Frühstücksangebot
- Mathew (8/5): - Good stay.
- Tracey (9/5): - Ocean side room, large space Tv mounted too high.
- Jurgen (10/5): - Loved our stay!
- Iryna (10/5): -
- Patricia (8/5): - Common areas (lobby, halls, entrance) are horrible- musty smelling and old. But the room (203) was fine - spotless, newer flooring, minimal bedding, walk in shower with great water pressure and a small refrigerator. A view of the ocean was worth the extra money and the area was lively during the day but quiet at night.
- Tondra (9/5): Very pleasant. I look forward to returning next year. Very nice staff. - Location and pool/outdoor seating Need pitcher water/microwaveable mugs for morning tea.
- Kateryna (10/5): - Very beautiful people and place♥️
- Wasei (6/5): - Staff was very friendly and helpful but the property needs updates.
You need to clearly state that there are no elevators on property.
Many updates are needed for rooms and property. Like doors, darker window blinds that close, bathroom.
- Doreen (8/5): - It was clean and quiet.
Staff was friendly.
- Jane (10/5): -
- Adriana (2/5): - The front desk woman was so rude and disregarding only thing I liked about the one night was the few from my window and the beach so close. If she wasn’t so nasty I probably would have been able to enjoy it more
- Willy (8/5): Todo estuvo bien .. - Excelente ubicación frente a la playa . El problema es que no tiene estacionamiento propio ..
- Matthew (10/5): - Great staff. Close to the beach amazing location.
- Essey (10/5): - Check in and out was easy. No one bothered me. Room service lady knocked and left without issue. Right in front of the beach and close to restaurants and train.
- Benedikt (6/5): Aufenthalt ohne Komfort gegenüber vom Strand. - Die Lage gegenüber vom Strand. Sehr laut. Kein Tee- oder Kaffeekocher. Unbequemes Betten mit durchgelegenen Matratzen.
- wendy (9/5): - Swimming pool and staff Room was too light for sleeping.
- Elias (10/5): - Good old school vibe right on the beach
- DianaOnHoliday (8/5): Unpolished Jewel for the price - Clean, neat and old.. but no worries The building has history and a good amount of stairs.( In need of cool air in the hallways during summer months )
Staff pleasant and knowledgeable
Location excellent= across the street from boardwalk and sandy beach
- Mike (9/5): -
- Maria (10/5): - Beautiful place, right on the beach. Loved it!
- Nestor (4/5): - Habitación limpia Olor extraño en la recepción

- Gabbie (10/5): -
- Rosemary (8/5): - LOCATION.. LOCATION
Very Clean room, refrigerator in room, coffee in AM..Across the street from the beach Parking is a problem..on street only
- Maura (10/5): - Love this Hotel. Facing the ocean. Clean with friendly staff. Would have been perfect if we had a mirror in our room. Otherwise excellent stay.
- justine (7/5): - Location, clean, good water pressure, staff is nice, sunrise from the room Bed was not comfortable,
- Charles (10/5): Staff were pleasant. Hotel is beautiful. Old fashioned. - Great location No elevator
- John (10/5): -
- SHANNON (9/5): Everything I was looking for in one trip!!! - The location was excellent. Loved that I could walk anywhere I needed to go. The room was cozy and had an exceptional view of the beach just as promised. Beach is clean and town quiet and peaceful. No parking lot only street but this is to be expected it’s the beach. The key/door to the room was stubborn at times but made it work.
- Robyn (9/5): Basic clean hotel in fantastic location - Close to the beach. Friendly helpful
staff
- Nancy (10/5): 2nd time we stayed and can’t wait to come back! - Perfect location, super friendly staff and spotlessly clean! Room windows could use shades or curtains to keep the sun out, our room was great just very bright
- Beth (7/5): -
- Karrie (8/5): Beautiful location, parking availability stinks. - Location was great. The fact that you don’t parking available and we had to drive up and down the streets looking for something to open up was very frustrating.
